The Prerogative Of The Upper Force

610.2Question: Why can’t we measure our feelings?

Answer: We do not have this ability. We can partially measure the reaction of our nerve endings and impulses with certain devices but not the feelings themselves because they are measured by desires.

It is also impossible to measure desires. The Creator, or the most internal force of the world, is a desire. Therefore, we just have to accept that we can work with them in a very external form, but we cannot understand, measure, or manage them.

This is the prerogative of the upper force that created a desire on the inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human levels and then formed matter around this desire.

Respect And Self-Control

546.02Question: Is it possible to teach a person to respect someone?

Answer: We learn only from examples. Thus, when we show someone a good example, they grow up to be good people. Respect is a positive feeling. But sometimes it can limit a person and cause one to regress. Therefore, one needs to develop self-control.

Expecting purely egoistic respect from others can cause one to close in on oneself. After all, if everyone starts honoring him, he stops growing and only demands more respect no matter the situation, as long as it is given to him. But if respect is directed outward, it facilitates our advancement.

Remark: You have repeatedly mentioned that signs of respect from society are very detrimental to someone who wants to achieve self-actualization or spiritual development.

My Comment: It is simply disastrous! Sometimes, of course, it is good to hear positive feedback about yourself but, in general, it is enough for the environment to only point out the correct direction for your advancement.

Positive feedback and compliments make one feel content, limits their development, and smooths out all sorts of feelings of self-inadequacy.

It is not about putting pressure on a person so that he cannot lift his head. But there must be a very serious line of self-control that keeps revealing additional deficiencies in a person that need to be filled with knowledge and attainment.

Much is written about this in our sources. For example, they say that if a teacher receives a lot of attention and respect from his students, he may stop developing spiritually. This should be avoided.

The Relationship Of Teacher And Student

165Question: What should be the interaction between teacher and student? Does their relationship depend on the requests of the student only or on the teacher also?

Answer: More on the student. The teacher is ready to accept all of his requests.

Question: The sages say that a person should study what his heart lies on. You, too, often ask students: “What would you like to study today”? But this isn’t this wrong. Shouldn’t the teacher make the lesson plan himself?

Answer: Yes, but I want them to understand what they want and not passively accept what I give them.

Question: So, is what the student wants more important to you?

Answer: Sometimes I ask them about it to give them a chance to test themselves.

Question: Do you know in most cases what kind of material should be given and in what dose?

Answer: It is not my choice, it is the time. It dictates to me what materials to give them.

Question: Don’t you also think that the teacher should explain the material so skillfully that the student will have even more questions by the end of the lesson?

Answer: Yes, questions that would not confuse him, but would lead him further. This is necessary for the study. The student must accept my answer and, starting from it, continue to ask further. Then he will feel twofold in the answer and will be able to navigate correctly.

Question: How should students relate to other students’ questions?

Answer: Learn from them. It is the answers to the questions that carry the most information. This is necessary for students because they want to connect together with their souls—inner qualities, feelings, and intentions.

Can Joy Be Eternal?

572.02Question: What state does a person mostly feel joy from: from the past, the present, or the future?

Answer: From the present, of course. This feeling is the most acute. As for the future, it is the anticipation of joy. It may last longer. And the joy from the past leaves a certain impression and turns into knowledge, into what we call a Reshimo (informational record).

Question: Joy is a consequence of fulfilling our desires. But the fulfillment of desires extinguishes them and it turns out that the joy disappears. How can the joy be made to last forever?

Answer: It is necessary to separate the feeling of joy itself and the object that caused it. For example, if you feel joy from the achievements of your child who is constantly developing, then this joy does not disappear. And if you are happy about some of your successes, then this feeling goes away very quickly.

In other words, when joy is felt from an external source, then it can be long lasting, almost endless.

The Right To Respect

284.02Question: “Respect,” (from the Latin “respectus”), means attention, respect, protection (avoid harming). Respect is defined as a respectful attitude, a special assessment of someone based on recognition of their merits, achievements, or high qualities. What do you mean by this word?

Answer: Respect is an assessment of a person according to his qualities, merits, and admiration for his achievements.

Question: In your books you write that respect of others is even more important in a person’s life than money. But according to Maslow’s pyramid, the highest is self-development, self-realization, knowledge. Why are you talking about respect anyway?

Answer: It depends on how you treat it. Respect for another, for the Creator, for something outside of ourselves, is the property that pushes us toward realization.

Question: Do you think everyone has the right to be respected?

Answer: Any person who tries to fulfill his function given to him by nature is worthy of respect in his aspiration.

Question: What human quality is worthy of respect?

Answer: Desire for constant growth, self-realization. A person must constantly check himself how worthy of self-respect he is, for what and how he can respect himself. This is due to the awareness of your personality, with self-control.

He must respect himself for fulfilling his destiny.

Principles Of Effective Learning

283.01Remark: There are several principles of effective teaching.

First, it takes time to grasp the practice of a new skill or craft. It is said it takes at least 10 years to become a specialist.

My Comment: Yes. It is even longer in Kabbalah. Knowledge cannot be acquired without effort.

Remark: Second, you need constant access to the best teachers.

My Comment: For this we have our sources instead. Since the death of my great teacher Rabash, I do not see who can replace him. It is impossible. He was the last of the Mohicans, and now we are moving toward complete correction according to his method.

Remark: I meant that today, thanks to the Internet, you can learn from the best teachers.

My Comment: This is not the point. There are simply no teachers on the level of Rabash in the world.

Remark: Another important principle is the visual assimilation of information. They say that 50 to 90% of the brain’s resources use visual perception. But you rarely use tools like presentations or even blueprints in lectures.

My Comment: The point is that spiritual states cannot be represented graphically. Therefore, they are almost never used in Kabbalah.

There was a period when many new students came to me, and literally in every lesson I drew, sketched, and depicted for them. But they have moved forward and they do not need these blueprints today. They perceive them internally, speculatively.

Responsibility For Everyone

962.1Question: Integral education requires a group of like-minded people since knowledge is secondary and establishing connection is primary. It is enough for everyone to build a society of at least ten people in order to learn and change internally. In such an environment, one receives confidence, a sense of security, and so on.

But there is such a phenomenon as social laziness. Being in a group, there is always an opportunity to cut corners. How should this be dealt with?

Answer: In a group, everyone should take care of everyone else so that everyone is an active participant and shows everyone an example: each one is for everyone.

Question: When you were studying one-on-one with your teacher, you understood that if you do not write something down, remember it, or learn it, no one would help you. And in a group of people, I can always weasel out, thinking that someone will do it for me. What can we do?

Answer: I do not know because I have not been in such conditions. I was with my teacher and I understood what he was giving me, I must remember and pass on. And that’s what I do.

Jealousy: From Destructive To Positive

627.2Remark: Jealousy is the desire to completely control the time and all mental and physical forces of another person. It is one of the most powerful, destructive, and painful emotions.

There are several types of jealousy: in children, professional, national, in sports, creative. Doctors have proven that in measuring male stress, physical infidelity of his wife and his jealousy classifies as the most overwhelming blow. In strength, it is comparable to the trauma of losing a loved one.

My Comment: Kabbalah says that jealousy is necessary for our development and explains how to manage it.

The best thing is if we imagine all other people not only as equal to us, but that they also have the right to opinions and actions opposite to ours. Let’s say you and I don’t agree with each other. It is our disagreement, contrast, and opposition that allows us to build a special kind of relationship with each other.

We are not trying to destroy each other but to create a certain space where there is neither you nor me and perhaps something in between. And this something in between will be the next spiritual degree of our development.

Question: So, until one of us attains this third state, jealousy will naturally be a destructive force?

Answer: Yes. And then it will become positive.

Remark: This can be compared to a soup in which we add different ingredients. But when they are cooked together, on one hand, there is a special general taste, and on the other hand, the individuality of each ingredient is not lost. Is it the same with us?

Answer: Yes. On the contrary, individuality grows. I am not giving up on it, I am just saying that the other person can have an opinion too. I build a relationship with him in the middle.

There are no tricks here. This is a cognitive process when a person, exploring himself and nature, builds a middle line.

A New Page Every Day

219.01Question: It is generally believed that at the beginning of each session, it is important to briefly repeat what was said in the previous session. Why don’t you do this?

Answer: Because I don’t want a person to start a new page by repeating the past from the old page. He does not need that. He needs to come up empty. Empty!

In Kabbalah, it is not like in all other methods where they first repeat previous material and then go further. We start every day anew.

Sometimes it happens that we did not finish a topic for some reason. Then we might repeat a little. But in general, no. It is said about this: “Every day will be as new in your eyes.”

Remark: In conventional methods, in order to understand that students have memorized the material, it is very effective to have surveys, tests, exercises. You never check knowledge, you do not conduct tests or exams.

My Comment: I don’t want to force students to memorize. I want them to just feel that they have to change internally. Can I run tests on their internal changes?

Remark: Sometimes you give homework, but you never check it.

My Comment: What for? I believe that if a person wants to be my student, he must constantly think about what he heard from the teacher.

To Make The Plans Of Humanity Coincide With The Plan Of Nature

628.2Question: Do clear goal-setting and detailed planning really achieve the highest goal?

Answer: Yes. But it is possible that the planning may be wrong. But a person will see how, by making mistakes, he or she changes.

We are inside nature; these are absolutely clear laws of our development. Therefore, we should try to move forward by correctly understanding them and maximizing our development as much as possible.

Question: They say: “If you want to make God laugh, tell Him about your plans.” How important is it to plan the achievement of the goal and the criteria for its verification at each stage of development?

Answer: It is desirable. Although, it is clear that everything comes from above. But when your plans coincide with God’s plans, it is a sign of success.

In other words, the success of any business lies in the fact that the plans, the order of the development of society, man, and even humanity, fully coincide with the plan of nature.
