Question: You used to write more posts about the actual wisdom of Kabbalah and now it is as if everything is about Israel and the Jews. Aren’t you a Kabbalist anymore?

Answer: I engage in the advancement of the world towards the goal of its development, which is the ascent (transition) to the next level, to the spiritual level. The wisdom of Kabbalah is the study of this transition. But it is a process that happens to humanity gradually over 6,000 years, since the discoverer of this phenomenon, first man (Adam). In our world the transition is realized in a group of people.

They differ from others since the question about the meaning of life is burning in them, as Baal HaSulam tells us in the “Introduction to The Study of the Ten Sefirot,” Item 2. Abraham was the first to gather and organize this group, and called it the people of Israel.

This is not a biological nation that developed from their common biological ancestors, but an ideological nation, i.e., descendants of people belonging to different nations living in Babylon 1,500 years BC who understood the call of Abraham, that through connection and unity, despite mutual rejection, and revealing the upper force (“taste and see that the Lord is good”), the meaning of existence is attained.

The fulfillment of this goal is the reason for the existence of the Jews, although they have forgotten about it for 2,000 years now. But this is the only reason they exist: in order to show themselves and all the other nations the attainment of the goal: revelation of the Creator. The fate of the Jews depends on the successful illustration of how to attain the higher existence (being the Light unto the nations).

The nations of the world expect this of the Jews subconsciously, and when this mission isn’t fulfilled, it evokes hatred towards the Jews and a feeling that the Jews are hiding something from them. Today we are in a special point in human evolution: it has reached global egoistic dependence.

There are two ways we can advance from this point: either by a world war or by correcting the global dependence into positive global connection. If the Jews choose the path of unity and teach the nations of the world how to fulfill it, the world will reach the next level of its development rapidly and safely. This is the only thing I engage in.

We are all in a system that operates on with different forces, and as a result, different desires, urges, and thoughts emerge in us. Everything depends on the extent to which we mutually participate with these forces correctly in order to reach a state of balance and harmony with them.

A person is under the pressure of segmented forces, and he must arrange his thoughts and desires and understand where we are headed. We see that everything is advancing very fast in a certain direction, but without a plan. Yet, nature has a very clear and accurate plan that man doesn’t understand. He doesn’t know how nature develops and what it demands of us. We are forced to participate in the evolutionary process together with the still, vegetative, and animate nature that surround us, and at the same time, within ourselves, like all of humanity.

However, we cannot even imagine the forces of our development, their goal and nature’s actual plan. We don’t know what tomorrow may bring, and thus we participate in this process passively.

In order to find the answers to the basic questions about the purpose of human existence and of humanity in our complicated times, we must pay attention to nature that surrounds us and try to understand its plan. Indeed, to date we have already passed along a large portion of the time axis of our development, and we see that we are developing very quickly. Of course, there are different periods, but it is an accelerated process. This acceleration is especially evident lately, and it is very frightening.

Our development takes place under the influence of our egoistic desires to understand and discover everything, to control and manage everything. Moreover, everyone’s egoism—of every nation, of every state, and the entire universal egoism—is only the human ego. All of the other parts of nature—the still, vegetative, and animate—have no egoism. They are managed naturally, instinctively, under the influence of nature’s mechanical laws. They do whatever nature spurs in them. This is the reason that they are not the problem, but it is only mankind. We also can divide mankind into four groups: the masses on the level of the still, vegetative, and animate nature, and human beings, according to their ability to understand the purpose of our existence.

Therefore, first and foremost, we must teach and educate those who are close to the perception and understanding of human nature.

Question: Did you ever think that you would engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah? When did you first begin thinking about that?

Answer: I think that I knew I needed to figure out know what the stars are for since I was seven or eight years old. The immense dark skies always fascinated me. As a child, I used to go outside and stare at the dark sky. I didn’t understand where I was, what I was, what all this was, and why the stars sparkled so mysteriously.

At the time, I thought that it had to do with astronomy. I was attracted to it until I realized that astronomy is just mechanical calculations, and so I lost interest in it.

I didn’t know what the wisdom of Kabbalah was at the time and didn’t imagine that I would find the solution and the meaning of life in it. But that had always been my desire. Later, when I studied the wisdom of Kabbalah, I realized that it was the Reshimo (Reminiscence) that already was expressed in me, the inner need, the desire that is not filled until the end of the creation. I knew that I would not be able to escape from it.

Question: Is the wisdom of Kabbalah meant for everyone or only for those in whom the Reshimo is revealed and who ask the question, “What is there beyond the stars?”

Answer: I believe that, thanks to our efforts (mine and my students’), we will reveal the wisdom of Kabbalah to everyone because this wisdom is actually very close to people.

We flow with the current in the boat of our lives that gradually takes us somewhere. The wisdom of Kabbalah helps us participate in this process and add our efforts to the natural development of our desire, because desire is the only matter that was created.

To the extent that a person participates in the evolution of desire, he begins to explore its causes, origins, the actual flow of life, its purpose, and how he can affect it, where the limits of his freewill are. Moreover, he attains his root, his point in this process and his ultimate state.

We can discover all that by ourselves, which means ascending above the natural, involuntary development of our huge desire, above all the matter of the universe, attaining this enormous mechanism. Only to those who feel the need and the necessity to discover and attain the goal of their existence are allowed to reveal that. But if a person has no need for it, you will not be able to force him to engage in it, and there is no need to do so. He will flow with the current naturally, according to the speed determined by the general mechanism of the universe.

Question: Why do you popularize the spreading of the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: As a result of our development, we are beginning to ask about the meaning of life, about its purpose, and about the nature of suffering. So, we must give the common man, far from attaining the meaning of life and the nature of the suffering, the possibility of knowing about this. This is because the depression, sadness, and lack of understanding of the purpose of existence appearing in our time brings aggression, violence, hatred, and wars. We see how peoples and nations clash in a mad, wild “sword dance,” and all of this is because they don’t understand the meaning of life.

Look at what is happening in politics, in the economy, everywhere and in everything! Ignorance and stupidity—people puff themselves up like turkeys, harming others and annihilating each other. Today, many internally ask this question, but don’t express it out loud. Subconsciously, it presses down on them. They would like to find the answer to it, but they cannot, and so it depresses them even more. Instead, they begin to occupy themselves in “games” with bombs, airplanes, terrorism, etc, which end in terrible events, especially these days.

So, we must invest maximum effort so that people will understand how and what is truly carried within the question about the meaning of life, the meaning of the universe, the meaning of our existence here and in other states.

We must make it possible for our people to become the people of Israel, meaning that they yearn for a goal, because they don’t have the right to hide from their destiny. They are obliged to discover the characteristics, foundations, and qualities that exist in them, and thus save humanity from great suffering that would otherwise await us on the way of development.

Question: What is the meaning behind suffering?

Answer: The meaning behind suffering is to give a person emptiness that he has to fill by turning the suffering into joy.

By suffering, we refer to those desires that cause us to suffer now. However, we are able to turn them into desires that are filled with happiness and purpose.

Question: What about the famine in half of Africa or the people suffering in Yemen?

Answer: It doesn’t matter what type of suffering it is. All of it can be turned into fulfillment, satiation, meaning, and greatness—even material hardships.

For that, we need to take all of our states and fill them with the Upper Light that provides for us on all the levels that our desires want: food, health, peace, and anything that we can think of. Everything comes from the Upper Light. We just must draw this Light since the various types of suffering are those voids that we need to fill with Light.

Suffering is our unfulfilled desires. Even hunger, cold, fear, and sorrow are no exception, any empty, unfulfilled desire, from the most minute to the most significant.

There is only one fulfillment for all desires and it is called the Upper Light. In essence, the science of Kabbalah does not speak about material suffering. It simply tells us about desire and its fulfillment. Any desire demands fulfillment from us.

What is interesting is that the world contains complete abundance, and the food that we throw away would be enough to feed more than the planet. However, we cannot seem to give it away, and, on the contrary, we raise prices and use various gimmicks that multiply suffering.

This is designed by nature on purpose since otherwise we would not reach a need to draw the Upper Light, the Light of universal fulfillment. This is why the world will continue to suffer more and more.

People who possess the Kabbalistic method need to bring it closer to all of humanity as quickly as possible, but first to the nation of Israel since it can realize it first and pass it to the world. This is the task with which we are faced.

We need to explain to people as soon as possible the purpose of and its solution. We don’t solve anything through conflicts but only by drawing the Upper Light.

This is why we have a method that shows humanity that we can derive a special hidden force from nature that fulfills, corrects, and advances us. We can hasten our movement toward that goal through our own aspiration, instead of under nature’s blows from behind.

Every person can derive this positive force along with everyone else. But this can be done only through practice. This method cannot be explained in words because people lack the corresponding sensations. We need to place people in circles and demonstrate to them what to do and how to do it.

Kabbalah is a practical science that is solved and realized in a group of people, either a small group or in all of humanity.

The article “The Last Generation” is interesting because Baal HaSulam doesn’t speak to his students or to contemporary Kabbalists but to ordinary people. He turns to them from a pragmatic perspective and compares all of humanity to passengers who are on a train speeding towards a bridge, but instead of a bridge there is a slippery slope, and so he gives us advice as to what we should do so that we don’t fall down that slippery slope.

At the same time, we can feel how concerned he is about humanity because he sees that eventually it could be annihilated. He tells us that there is a plan of creation that has to be fulfilled no matter what. But before it brings people to the best state possible it will put them through the path of terrible sufferings. Thus, Baal HaSulam tells us how humanity can be spared such afflictions.

The article “The Last Generation” was compiled from various notes of great work, which he intended to write, but then he realized that this mission is not for his generation. This wasn’t easy for him, of course. We cannot imagine the internal world of a man who feels that all the people in the world are like his own children, and even closer than that because he loves them spiritually and understands what awaits them. Corporeal love is egoistic, whereas spiritual love is free of self-love and is therefore billions of times stronger.

Question: What kind of unity must the people of Israel reach to feel positive changes?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah offers a unique method of unification in a circle in which each one tries to understand the other and nullify himself to him. In this circle all are absolutely equal and each one is included in all. In the circle we have a discussion according to unique laws, and in this manner we carry out exercises that help us unite, lower ourselves, and elevate the others. This is a very simple method that makes it possible within ten minutes of work in the circle to feel how in its center a unique unifying force is awakened. Discussions in circles of this kind are now being organized all over Israel. Their purpose is to show a person that if we unite according to particular laws, we discover the good force that is hidden in nature, the power of unity, and love.

The person is built on egoism alone, on the evil force, on the desire to receive pleasure at the expense of others, to be concerned only about himself. In the desire to receive pleasure itself there is nothing bad; what is bad is that it acts while causing harm to others and makes us enemies. But if we discover the good force of nature, then it will teach us how it is truly possible to have enjoyment not at the expense of others. This is true pleasure. So between us there won’t be any competition, struggle, or wars; rather, unity like this will appear in which there will be goodness for every person. And the stronger our unity will be, the better each one will feel.

This is a very practical and simple method. It invites us to be happy, while we refuse. But the moment we agree and begin to work on our unity, then the whole world will feel good changes immediately since all of us are connected around the world in one invisible network. The good force that is discovered in circles like these all over the nation will begin to develop and nourish the network that connects us with positive energy, and everyone will feel this. All of the anti-Semitism and negative attitude toward Israel will disappear very quickly.

External scientific development caused and continues to cause harm to humanity, poisoning us with medicines, producing food that is harmful to our health, and through the media. Science began to work against people. But it is unclear why there is a ban on studying the wisdom of Kabbalah?

The fact is that after the destruction of the temple, the nation of Israel went into exile in order to integrate with the rest of the nations and “to connect the souls of the gentiles to them.” And the feeling of the exile had to be real. This means that the problem wasn’t the revelation of the wisdom of Kabbalah to the nations of the world, but that it not be revealed to the nation of Israel. It was specifically towards the nation of Israel that there was concealment of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

If Kabbalah had been revealed, then Israel wouldn’t have felt itself in exile. They would have understood that the exile was essential and they had to go through it and to suffer. They wouldn’t have felt helpless. The concealment had to be so great that people forgot everything.

It’s interesting that when the King of Spain issued an order to expel the Jews, they arrived at the palace of the king with the request to leave and offered generous payment for it. But the chief inquisitor, who was a Jew himself, got involved and didn’t allow the King to accept the ransom. Then Queen Isabella, who was present, told the Jews, “Don’t you understand that the hearts of kings are in the hands of the Lord! It is not we who are deporting you, but it comes from above, from the Creator.“

She had to explain it to them because they didn’t understand. This is called “exile,” when such darkness comes that a person loses all spiritual feeling and sinks within total darkness. It is said that Baal Shem Tov would go through such huge descents that he would even not recognize letters.

We had to go through all the stages of exile and separation from spirituality, and thus the Kabbalists concealed the internal Torah and left only the external. The external corporeal tradition have been preserved and passed on from generation to generation. The descent of the generations was only in internality and gradually they reached the state that the inner Torah was almost forgotten by the people of Israel, that is, the descent reached a complete zero. Baal HaSulam writes that in our generation there are Kabbalists. Where do we see them? We are left only with the external tradition, and the attainment of the internality has disappeared. This means that we have reached the end of the generations.

In the future, the world will recognize the evil spirit into which it is sinking, humanity will discover that it has no means for correcting the situation, and the nations of the world will also feel in their subconscious that the people of Israel have a solution. From here is the inner drive to boycott and the desire to blame us for all of their problems.

The basis for this is latent in every person, in every people, in every organization, and in every nation. It is impossible to deceive ourselves about the illusion of the dark period that must be passed through on the way to brighter times. As it continues, it will only get worse. I have been talking already about this for many years. The world is sinking into a general crisis that encompasses education, culture, the economy, and politics, and now we are standing on the threshold of tremendous and incessant pressure from all sides. We feel ourselves as a fortress that is under siege, and our only weapon is unity.

This is possible by means of the Kabbalistic method that teaches us how to connect with each other in tens, in hundreds, in thousands, and in millions. All of the people of Israel must go through this integral or Kabbalistic study. It is not that important what we call it. At the time of our formation and coming into existence, we obligated ourselves to be as one person with one heart. If we consolidate this way between us, all the higher forces that manage us immediately will begin to soften and mollify, and we will feel changes without pause.

Let’s begin to unite in circles in the right way and then immediately in our relationships within the nation, in our relationships with our neighbors, including Hamas and the like, and in the relationships with all the nations of the world that all will begin to soften. So, it seems obvious what kind of a weapon we have in our hands. It is not deadly, but good. It brings life. It is a weapon for the struggle with our egoism, with our nature, and not with people.

So, I turn to the people of Israel. Let us accept the approaching stages with an understanding that they are designed to awaken us to the right development, to unity. If we would begin to realize it until reaching “Love your neighbor as yourself,” then immediately what has been attained between us would spread all over the world through underground connections unseen by the eye, through which we are connected with each other, and the good results of our efforts will not be late in being discovered.

Question: How can we logically explain to people that connection is the single solution to all problems?

Answer: Clearly, unity between people gives them strength. On this principle the army, political parties, or any other organization is built. A few people that unite together receive strength, especially nowadays.

Even in the days of slavery, the association of the slaves was feared. Every country is afraid arising associations. If more than a hundred people connect, immediately they are checked to see what is happening there, what they are doing, and what their plans are. It is necessary for the public security.

But by connection between us, if it is the correct connection, we begin to feel that there is some source of force, mind, a new feeling. We need to make an effort to feel it ourselves, but we are neglecting it. If I don’t receive awakening from the center of the group, a lifting of spirit, a feeling of warmth, love, an increase of the feeling of feeling and mind, then I am not connected to it.

Just as I need to eat something every few hours, so I need to feel the appetite and hunger to come to the group and receive nourishment from it. I don’t have to come physically to the group, but I must feel its center, from which from I yearn to fulfill myself.

If you still don’t see and feel what the profit is from the connection, it’s a sign that you still have to work on it. Even the greatest Kabbalist cannot exit himself if he retreats to some hidden place. He must be connected with at least a few students equal to or greater than him so that inside the connection he will find feeling and mind from a higher degree.

Every time he will progress like that, otherwise he will not have life. He will stop in place and die because life must renew all the time.

Therefore, when we come to people and help them connect, we need to teach them how to reveal the source of live water in order to be able to drink from it, from the center of connection between them. As a result of that, they will receive the spirit of life. They will start to feel that they lack it, like a little child that suddenly needs his mother, runs and clings to her, and then again he runs back to his games. Like that we need to show people the source of life.

You should feel at the time of the workshop and different actions that in the connection between you there is a new inner excitement, a sharper feeling of joy, and deeper meaning that makes it possible to reach a new clarification of the current state and the next state that is suddenly revealed.

If at a time of connection with friends such a special feeling is not awakened, it’s a sign that you did not reach any connection. We have to reveal it in ourselves and to teach others, because in it is the source for joy, liveliness, the force of life, and for us it’s also a source for clarification, because only feelings are not enough for us, we also want to clarify these states and participate in them consciously “to awaken the dawn” ourselves.

Therefore, this spring that we reveal in the center of the group is the source of force for spiritual progress. And for the people, it is the source of confidence, pleasant feeling, more correct observation toward the attitude inside the family, children, education, etc., meaning the source of their lives.

This is a very special point. I must find the source of force, the source of life, the source of mind and energy for myself, and suddenly I see that the way becomes clearer and my state stabilizes in the correct direction. I acquire strength and stability. All of this I receive from the center of the group.
