The connection is egoistic when I unite against someone in order to break someone or to profit at someone’s expense.

Spiritual, altruistic connection does not imply any destruction or pressure, no one needs to prove anything. Everything is directed only for the sake of spiritual ascent, for the sake of the common good. This is called integral education, which we want to introduce to humanity.

In the News (“Flawed AI Makes Robots Racist, Sexist”): “A robot operating with a popular internet-based artificial intelligence system consistently gravitates to men over women, white people over people of color, and jumps to conclusions about peoples’ jobs after a glance at their face.

“The work, led by Johns Hopkins University, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and University of Washington researchers, is believed to be the first to show that robots loaded with an accepted and widely used model operate with significant gender and racial biases. …

Answer: What do scientists understand? And the robot is smart. It saw what lies at the heart of humanity. Every nation has its own internal direction. And that is why the robot said it correctly.

My Response: In egoism.

Question: Psychologists say that aggression comes from the desire of living beings, animals, and humans to survive. Does it mean that aggression appears when there is hunger, fear, or war?

Answer: It generally appears every moment in life. This is the basis of a human being. Every moment of my life I have to overcome something.

Question: Can aggression be directed toward peaceful purposes? Everyone understands about non-peaceful purposes. What about peaceful purposes?

Answer: Toward peaceful purposes means against myself.

Question: So is aggression currently directed from myself outward? Are you saying that this vector needs to be turned on myself?

Answer: Slowly, little by little, I somehow have to turn it on myself.

Question: Does it mean that aggression exists so that I can slowly turn it on myself?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Against what am I directing aggression within myself? What should I attack in myself?

Answer: Yes. Then you really start treating yourself as an enemy. And this is good.

Comment: Humanity should try very hard.

My Response: It will be trying hard; it will have no choice. There will be such suffering that people will want this.

Question: Only enemies are around for humanity. Everyone feels that only enemies are around. But you say that the enemies are inside you. This formula is clear to me. But can it enter into the mind and into the heart of a person?

Question: So tell me, when an athlete helps an athlete, when it gets tough, when a mother comes to help, what pedestal do you put it on? What place do you give it?

Answer: This is the most important thing! This is what you can award a medal for—for helping. The fundamental rule of sports should be camaraderie and mutual help! To show everyone and ourselves the potential that lies within us. That’s all.

Answer: Not only to the viewers but to themselves too.

Question: How should the audience perceive it? I’m still a fan of this club. How should I take it all?

Answer: You will root for this club. You will be sad or happy as a result. So what?

Question: And if others win, what should I do as a spectator?

Answer: You’re going to root; it’s a sport after all.

Question: What about martial arts? When it’s not a team fight but wrestlers or boxers, how should we feel about that?

My Response: I agree with them. We suddenly began to believe that everything was possible for a person, that he or she is at such a spiritual level that he can perceive everything about himself correctly, that he knows what is good and what is bad. And it is good that they show me the bad so that I can move away from it even further.

This is all wrong! A person will perceive and absorb everything! And, of course, he will perceive the bad more than the good. Therefore, the Chinese are right, nothing good will come of this. Ban it! It is like with children. We give the child only what can benefit his development and not everything we want.

Comment: In principle, this philosophy is peculiar to people of art. I know directors who say: “I show bad things so that a person is horrified and does not go there. I want to show bad, scary things!”

My Response: I would have sent this director somewhere for correction.

We need to show to a person something that can be absolutely precisely used by him for his spiritual elevation so that an Adam (Human) would grow within him and not an animal.

Question: Why don’t we use this colossal discovery instead of doing things as usual? A child is held back for a second year instead of being advanced to the best class. A criminal is thrown into the most terrible jail instead of being transferred to a model enterprise.

Scientists have come to this. Why aren’t we doing this?

Answer: We don’t care about making them better. We are not thinking about correcting a person but about punishing him.

Question: Do we think that this will re-educate him, that he will become better?

Answer: Not at all! No one has ever been re-educated after being in a prison or a penal colony. Nobody!

Question: And bad students who were held back for a second year did not get better either?

Answer: Nothing like that. Our method is to rot a person to the end. This is the easiest. Look what is being done in every correctional institution, moreover, all over the world. This is a global trend.

Question: Why? What is there in a person that he wants so much to simply let another rot instead of making him better?

Answer: It’s hard.

Question: Hard work to really educate?

Answer: Of course. It is best to put him somewhere with criminals where he will be the same as them. Together they will all serve time, get out, and start committing crimes again, and then we will put them back in prison. And for all this we get money.

Question: So we just limit them? Do we want to keep them from ourselves?

Answer: Only this.

Question: Does it turn out that we only think about ourselves and we don’t think about others at all?

Answer: What’s there to think about? All the ministries of education and upbringing work the other way around, not to correct a person, but to somehow distance him and not put him in the right environment.

This is generally a big problem. After all, it is a great danger if you place a criminal among good children. A smart loner will make these pretty kids into someone who will do anything.

Question: Then is it right that we restrict all these children and criminals?

Answer: It’s not that we restrict them. The fact is that we are not engaged in their education. If you have restricted them, and these institutions are called correctional, where is the correction? What is it?

Question: Then what should be the correction if we don’t put them in a good environment, but just somewhere in a correction colony or hold them for a second year?

Answer: There is no correction. If you want there to be a correction, then they really need to be surrounded by a new society.

And the new society is lessons, books, movies, in general, everything that is only possible, and under great, great pressure. The pressure should be such that they will not have a minute of time, that they will study all the time.

Question: What kind of environment should they have? Can’t I get good people hooked up to them, kind, warm, warm-hearted people?

Answer: This is very difficult because today’s criminals are smart, quirky, and very, very cunning. And I do not know who will win here.

Question: Then who do you lay all your hopes on? The teachers?

Answer: On special teachers whom we have to educate for such institutions.

Question: This is for criminals, what about the bad students, the bad kids who behave badly? What should we do with them? Should we restrict them and also introduce them into some classes with special teachers?

Answer: This requires a huge amount of money and effort. We need to understand what a corrected person is, who an uncorrected person is, and where the bad students, lazy people, all kinds of “clowns” and so on come from. They should be divided into categories and a methodology prescribed specifically for each case. There is no such thing at all!

Question: Who will do such a job?!

Answer: Who will do it? And how many billions are spent to somehow contain crime, in Russia somewhere in medium-sized cities, in America in black communities, and so on? This is a huge problem in all countries!

This is a problem that must be solved together. Where is the UN and UNESCO? Where are all these organizations? They only sit on money and do nothing else. The main thing is that they are silent.

Comment: I do not know what conclusion to draw from this, except that it is almost impossible.

My Response: No, it’s all possible, but only when we really decide with the whole world that we need to raise a healthy generation.

Question: And if we really came to this with the whole world and also felt how hard it is, but we would really like it, would we get help from above?

Answer: We would definitely get help from above. The thing is, we don’t want to. We ourselves don’t want to!

Question: If we feel that it is very difficult, almost impossible, but if we decide that we will attempt it together with the whole world, we will take the best people and say “We will start this very difficult process of re-education with the whole world.” Then if we are stubborn and persistent, would we get help?

Answer: Absolutely!

Question: The whole task is to want it?

Answer: Yes, for the adults to want it, for the corrected ones to want it. Then yes, then it will work.

A corrected adult is one who takes care of the right environment so that everyone around is correctly oriented to the right values of the world. First of all, it is a connection for the sake of elevating a person to spiritual priorities over everything material.

Question: And what are the spiritual priorities?

Answer: For you to feel that there are good people around you who think about making everyone feel good. That’s all.

Question: But will it happen at all?

Answer: In the end, of course it will, but there is still a very long way of revelation of evil.

This is the task of the world; this is the program of the world, and of course, it will be translated into reality. But I personally can’t believe that it will be fast. Or it will be fast, but very hard. Either one or the other.

Question: So there will be people who will burn with passion to make this happen?

Answer: They will be made from above.

There will be people who will not be able to live differently and they will make this revolution.

Comment: You once said that the world should be afraid not so much of catastrophes and environmental pollution as of unemployment that as soon as the world will be flooded with unemployed people, there will be chaos and a catastrophe worse than an external catastrophe.

My Response: The fact is that the countries will be obliged to support the unemployed. Maybe this will not be a big problem, although of course, it is still a big load. Society is not adapted to the redistribution of goods and satisfying the needy somehow. Everything works according to the old pattern, money, social benefits.

The problem is not that the unemployed are people who have nothing to live on. These are people who feel unnecessary to anyone and they must fill the feeling of emptiness, worthlessness, and insignificance within themselves. They have very bad problems.

A person is created for being able to participate in some kind of work. We see that animals are constantly in search of food, in some kind of communication with each other, in some kind of clarification, in moving from place to place. They are always in internal and external motion. Even if there are fights between them, they do not harm each other purposefully. All this is necessary and embedded in the life cycle of all living things.

A person who leaves work, kind of dies. How long can I sit on Twitter, Facebook, and other sites? There are such programs on television today that there is nothing to watch at all. That is, people degrade so much so that absolutely everything human disappears in them. They are not interested in any growth.

Why go to school? I learned to read and write a little, and even not to write with a pen but to type on the computer and that is it.

What else do I need? I can only send “ha-ha” and “ho-ho” in this correspondence, and that is enough. I watch TV shows, and that is enough. What school? What for?

Once upon a time, school was designed to prepare a person to become a worker, and if you continue your studies at the university, then you become a civil servant or an employee, and so on. But why bother now? That is, school is dying. The whole culture is dying. It closes in on this television, which in turn, drops, as they say, “below the baseboard.” People are in such a state. What will happen to them next?

We could leave it all to chance, but nature has its own laws, its own plans, and its own goal. Therefore, it is very difficult to just ride the waves. It will shake us all the time. Wars, riots, and wild things will happen in the world.

No government will be able to cope with this because in each country 90% of the people will be unemployed. What are you going to do with them?

The only thing that remains is the path of integral upbringing and education, for everyone, from young to old. Only this can raise a person to the next level, and then you will be in unison with nature, you will not have contradictions. You will definitely find good signs in this movement.

Michael Laitman, On The Times of Israel: “Teach Your Children Well”

A few days before the beginning of the school year in Israel, the feeling here is that the education system has seen better times. Many teachers are quitting, especially the young and more gifted ones, and few are filling the blanks. A teacher’s salary is unattractive in Israel, to say the least, they have no respect from parents or students, and their social status is poor. In consequence, the entire system is now on the brink of collapse. In this column, I would like to relate to the role that parents can play in improving children’s education, and to the basic principles that I believe should guide a successful education system.

First, we need to realize that expecting parents to actively participate in improving the education system is unrealistic; it will not happen. Parents cannot and will not take responsibility for their children’s education. They were not taught how to do this, and they do not want the burden. Parents pay hefty sums for education in Israel, which is supposed to be free, and the Ministry of Education has the biggest budget of all government offices, except, perhaps, the defense budget, so parents rightly feel that this should suffice to finance proper education for their children.

In fact, one way to solve the problem is to indeed shut down the entire education system and establish a private one, instead, where parents’ payments will go directly and only toward their children’s education. Currently, when the government funds education, it spends the money where it wants, only some of it actually goes toward the education system, and no one is happy.

Even now, when the children purportedly get everything they need at school, parents who want their children to do well at school and continue to higher education must pay extra for extracurricular lessons, which are very expensive. This is actually one way to get the parents accustomed to privatizing the education system.

There is, of course, the justified fear that the haves will get better education than the have nots, but this is already the case, so in that sense, a private system will not be worse than the current one. If the entire system is privatized, parents will at least know what they are paying for, what they are getting in return, and they will be able to make educated decisions on their expenses.

At the same time, we do want all the children, and not only those from affluent families, to receive a good education. After all, children are the future of any country, including the State of Israel. To provide a good education for everyone, a team of highly skilled, unaffiliated professionals in education should design a system that is not related or obligated to any political system, but is committed only to the benefit of the children and to producing optimum education.

That education must incorporate far more than implanting information in children’s brains. Educating is not indoctrinating. Educating means teaching children how to be successful grownups. Being successful does not mean that people know a set of required information. Success depends first and foremost on a person’s social skills, and not a person’s level of schooling.

Acquiring social skills means learning to communicate, cooperate, share, take others’ perspectives in mind, be considerate, listen to others, and express oneself in non-threatening ways. These are all essential skills for life. In fact, they are the skills we use the most. Yet, we teach none of them at school, and for the most part, parents do not have the time, energy, or skills to teach them. As a result, children grow up to be emotionally ill-equipped adults who have to cope with relationships at home, at college, at work, with spouses and partners, yet they lack the knowhow.

If we want to teach our children well, we must build a system that teaches children to be human beings, first, and knowledgeable people, next. We must invest directly in the education system, and see to it that education means providing social skills, learning skills, and information, in that order.

There is a popular saying in Latin America: “Children and drunks always tell the truth.” Why do we lose this sincerity and truthfulness as we grow up? Why does a person develop toward lying?

It is because our mind develops in order to protect us from the harm that we can do to ourselves. Since we are always chasing egoistic fulfillment, we are forced to hide this desire, and therefore, we deceive all the time. It turns out that we are all liars because we do not want to do anything good to others, but we are outwardly hypocritical, pretending that we are doing good deeds toward one another.

We try to hide our intentions from each other, which are aimed only at using others for our own benefit.

Only the environment determines how close or far from the truth a person will be. The environment affects a person and is able to radically change him from one polarity to the other. It can make him good and kind to others, and the opposite to the point where he becomes complete unrecognizable.

If we create a society in which everyone agrees to build good relations as the most important value, then it will be possible to teach both children and adults correct relationships so that everyone feels that they depend on others and are obliged to behave with them carefully. If we feel our dependence on everyone, it will not be at all difficult for us to treat them with warmth.
