The Light of Ein Sof and Malchut of Ein Sof

548.03All the worlds in the thought of creation, called “the light of Ein Sof,” and what contains the receivers there is called Malchut of Ein Sof” (Baal HaSulam, The Study of the Ten Sefirot, Part 1, “Inner Observation,” Chapter 6).

The light of Ein Sof (Infinity) is the light that comes to us from the Creator and fills the desire without any changes in the desire. Therefore, the light itself is infinite; there are no changes in it.

When the desire created by the light becomes opposite to the light, then it is called Malchut of the world of Ein Sof (Infinity). An absolute desire to receive, to be filled, appears in it while in the light there is only a desire to bestow and fill. Therefore, light and desire are opposite to each other.

The Light of Ein Sof emanates from Atzmuto until the upcoming end of correction, which is the end of the action. In principle, it contains all the information about everything that should take place before the end of the correction of creation.

What Is Sacrificing Egoism?

527.01Question: What does it mean to sacrifice my egoism? Let’s say I want to enjoy something in this world. Then what? Am I making a restriction on this desire?

Answer: If this action is directed at harming others or nature, then we should try to limit ourselves and not apply it. This is called offering sacrifice.

Question: But if I just enjoy without harming anyone with my pleasure, is that okay?

Answer: Yes, of course. This is why the wisdom of Kabbalah explains what sacrifice means and how it should be done.

Suppose a person has a desire to enjoy at the expense of another, and the fact that he does not allow himself to do this, he sacrifices his desire to enjoy by using someone for his own sake, meaning, he sacrifices his egoism.

When the Feeling of the Upper World Lives in You…

294.4Question: From where are the origins of handwritten and printed texts?

Answer: Handwritten text does not come from Kabbalah. Kabbalah has never welcomed recordings. Why record? Either you enter into the feeling of the global universe sensorially or not.

There is a teacher and a student. The teacher explains to the student what to do, and to the extent that he can adapt this technique, he begins to expand his sensors of feelings.

Therefore, relatively few books have been written in the entire history of the development of Kabbalah. They appeared only 2,500 years ago. Before that, people knew everything by memory; they had a sense of the upper world, so there was nothing to write about if they perceived it anyway.

Similarly, the method of revealing the upper world was not described since children simply adapted it in themselves. From childhood, they were taught to perceive the spiritual world through the correct attitude to others, and at the age of three to six years, they entered into its attainment. It was absolutely natural for them! The environment influenced them that way.

Trusting the Teacher

165Question: Man is an uncorrected mechanism. What needs to be added to him so that it changes in your perception?

Answer: I am working on him, a little more, and a little more, and more

And while he is screaming, jumping, doing something for or against, wanting or not wanting something, he suddenly falls, sleeps, or something else. There is no other way. I am patiently waiting.

Comment: But you also work directly on a student. It is not just his job.

My Response: Of course. Naturally.

Question: How can a student allow you to work harder?

Answer: By trying to flow along with me and not resisting internally as much as possible. It is very difficult!

Question: Were you like that regarding Rabash?

Answer: Much worse. It is very difficult!

In one of my books, I described the story of David Lakes about unwavering trust in his Kabbalah teacher. One evening, they were sitting at a meal, and no one had a penny in their pocket—they were all very poor. Suddenly, the teacher said to him: “David, give me money to buy mead.” The student put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a gold coin.

This is not a trick but a true story of the clothing of the light of Hochma in the light of Hassadim. We do not understand this, so the story seems like a fairy tale or an interesting parable to us. But in fact, it is true.

“What’s the difference between an emotion and a desire?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What’s the difference between an emotion and a desire?

When we realize our desires, then we feel emotions. In other words, the feeling of a desire’s fullness or emptiness is called “emotion,” but it is the same desire. That is, emotion is a phenomenon within the desire.

We are activated by our desires at every moment, and we constantly try to realize the desires surfacing in us.

Desires awaken and grab hold of us, directing us to try and fulfill them, and the way in which we work with our desires depends on our social and environmental influences, i.e. the kind of upbringing and education we receive, and the values of the society we live in.

Were it not for our intellect and our social influences that can guide our intellect to navigate our desires, then our desires would overwhelm us.

It is thus in the balance between the intellect and the emotion, i.e. the extent of the intellectual force that we develop over our desires, that determines the extent to which we can control ourselves and our emotions.

Based on the video “What Is the Difference between Emotion and Desire?” with Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman. Written/edited by students of Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman.

Senseless Sacrifices

549.02Question: Why are animals and plants in our world, as a rule, sacrificed?

Answer: Our desire consists of four parts: inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human. Therefore, for thousands of years of development, humanity believed that sacrificing someone or something atones for a person’s sins, makes him better, luckier. As a result, humanity has a custom of sacrifice. There were even some nations who sacrificed people.

Comment: But that is wrong.

My Response: What about animals, is that right? Also it is not.

Question: So, you think that external actions do not make any sense?

Answer: If you think that you can kill someone, stab, or ruin something and it will make you feel better, this is, of course, wrong.

There were periods when people deliberately caught not only animals, but also other people in order to sacrifice. Today we are living in a different time.

Judges and Prosecutors Decided to Spend Some Time in Jail

961.1In the News (SOT): “Fifty-five judges in Belgium chose to spend a special weekend: they voluntarily locked themselves in a prison in the Brussels region to see what life is like for a prisoner, Belgian Justice Minister Vincent van Quinkenborn said in a statement.

“‘Judges obviously know what it’s like to be inside a prison, but experiencing this experience offers them a unique opportunity, which can help them impose sentences with full awareness,’ the minister continued.

“They will follow the prisoners’ daily schedule, will not be allowed to use mobile phones, will follow the same diet and have the same responsibilities as the prisoners.”

Question: In principle, prisons in Europe are somewhat different. For example, in 2020, the European Court of Human Rights ordered the country to pay five thousand euros to twenty-five prisoners who complained of violation of hygiene rules and lack of physical activity.

So, it is clear what kind of prisons these are. But how do you like the fact that prosecutors and judges went to prison, to see what conditions prisoners are in?

Answer: That’s great! I would let all of them through such institutions. People need to know what they are doing with prisoners, where they are being imprisoned, and whether prisoners have any opportunities to improve.

Question: How can this affect the correct sentencing? For example, the judge felt that it was terrible for him. What will be his next steps?

Answer: The next step will be to let them sit and figure out who felt what and who thinks what needs to be corrected. They have to make a prison so that people who have served a certain time in it, each of their terms in appropriate conditions and for appropriate offenses, would come out of there corrected. Otherwise, what is prison for?

Question: Why has everything changed so much in our lives: prisons have changed, judges have changed? Why did such a coup happen? You are now talking about the ideal…

Answer: No. I’m talking about what should be, but never was, because people don’t care. Previously, they just dragged a man to the block, chopped off his head and that’s it. And by doing so, they were ridding the world of him.

Comment: Or they were put in terrible conditions, in some pits or shackles, and so on. There was such evil and hatred all the time. Imprison him!

My Response: Yes, in order to eradicate them.

Question: What is it? Why is there no desire in a person to “fix” so that he goes through this process of correction?

Answer: What for? Do we need another person in society? It is better to isolate him, to send him somewhere.

Question: So, this nature acts in a person, to ruin, to putrefy?

Answer: Yes. Get rid of the unnecessary, as it seems to them, elements.

Question: What can be done to make something else triumph, so that some spark of love arises in a person?

Answer: No, our world is absolutely not striving for this. Therefore, why should we make some special, correct people out of prisoners? What does “the correct people” mean for our world?

Question: How can we turn the situation around?

Answer: Nowhere, in any country in the world today, are correctional institutions engaged in correcting people. At best, they are organized for some kind of work, and they work eight or ten hours a day. But this is good, it somehow still straightens them a little.

Question: But how should the world change in order for all this to change?

Answer: We need to change ourselves! We need to understand that we are prisoners in this world and must correct ourselves!

And we have to work on our correctional work that is internal, correcting ourselves. And then we can begin to correct the world around us.

Question: Which means, only as a result of correcting myself will I be able to look at the other correctly and direct him to correction, and not ruin him?

Answer: Yes, of course.

Comment: It’s a long way to go.

My Response: I don’t think it’s long. It all depends on awareness.

Question: If there is awareness, can it happen quickly?

Answer: By itself, no. You just have to talk about it and explain a lot.

Question: But did these prosecutors and judges do the right thing by deciding to be imprisoned themselves?

Answer: Yes. In some ways, they will straighten up a little, within the framework of our world.

Question: So they can have some kind of minimal correction of their own?

Answer: Absolutely.

Worlds Moving Apart

264.01The desire to enjoy determines everything for a man: what he will feel, how far he will feel the space around him, and how to name everything that he feels. Meaning, man’s desire determines his world because he cannot feel that he is beyond the desire, and therefore, it does not seem to exist for him.

Therefore, if the desire in a person is not developed, is at the inanimate degree, then his world is limited by the framework of the inanimate degree. It is like a baby whose world is tiny and does not go beyond the nursery, but it is enough for him, and he is satisfied.

So, we live in a world whose boundaries are determined by the limitations of our qualities, and we are convinced that there is nothing beyond it. Once people thought that the earth was a flat disk and the universe was a rigid sphere with the border of this world covering it like a cap above which there was nothing.

And up until now, our knowledge of the world has been limited by our attainment. Let’s hope that we will soon be able to open its borders, and then we will understand what kind of world we really are in.

Our desire to enjoy is constantly evolving, each time it pushes the limits of the reality we feel to new boundaries. We call these boundaries worlds. And since our desire develops in four degrees: 1-2-3-4, we perceive the world that seems to exist around us at four levels: 1-2-3-4.

Once upon a time, all of humanity existed as one whole, one body, but then we were shattered into many small bodies. And that is why each of us feels and perceives a different reality.

The goal is to get back into one single body, stuck together like pieces of plasticine. And in this form, we begin to feel a new, unified reality that appears real. It is dominated by one upper force that controls this reality and supports it. And there is no great multitude of forces as each fragment feels it. To come to this connection is the goal of our work and development.

We existed as one common body that broke into a great many fragments as a result of the Big Bang. And if we strive to return to this state of unity, then we begin to feel a single, increasingly unified force, as well as to gain understanding, attainment. The whole history of mankind and modern reality with its problems and wars is intended only to bring us to the realization of the need to unite. Nature pushes us to this.

And the more we all get closer to each other and feel more and more clearly our duty to connect, we begin to understand the inner force that controls us, brings us closer, fills us, and eventually leading to the attainment of true reality.
