Walk Together with the Teachers

961.1Comment: When you are not here with us there is some decline in the importance of the lessons; some friends no longer connect to them.

My Response: It has always been and will be because a person was born and grew up in such a way that he has to see some big example in front of him. Therefore, I advise you to get used to going with your teachers.

I had a teacher too, a great teacher. He died in my arms. Nevertheless, everything continued.

I asked him this question too and he would say that it should be this way. So it is not scary. After all, we are interconnected, nobody is leaving anywhere and nobody is coming. Whatever is going on before our eyes are children’s games. We have to be above them.

Work or Earn?

629.3We live in a time when Kabbalah must spread among our nation and all of humanity, so we are stepping back somewhat from the strict conditions that Kabbalists used to impose on their students and we allow anyone who wishes to study.

However, it is important to understand that while a person is permitted to study from below, a completely different condition is given to him from above: he must be the head of the family, take care of his wife and children, work, and not live off handouts from his parents.

It is not uncommon to hear someone say that they can afford not to work because they have enough to live on. But this does not free them from the obligation to work.

Rabash would say: “Go to work. No one is saying you have to earn.” After all, earning and working are not the same thing. He did not accept students who did not work.

A man must be the head of his family and work like everyone else eight hours a day. This was a law for him.

Align the Common Desire with the Creator’s Desire

938.01Question: It is written, “As their faces are not similar to one another, their views are not similar to one another.” How can we come to one desire so that it aligns with the Creator’s desire?

Answer: Under the influence of the actions the Creator sets before us, we try to be in one desire, like one person, and thus we become a single body.

And when this body consists, for example, of ten people, it has ten times more strength than if a person were alone.

You Must Act

583.06Question: You said that a person who studies Kabbalah grows internally and one’s perception of the group changes accordingly. Every year I check this state and indeed the friends and feelings are different and we all go through various states. What is happening qualitatively within each of us?

Answer: A more corrected desire that is more suitable for common connection is gradually revealed in you. I think you have gone through good states lately and are ready for the Creator to be revealed to you. That cannot be expected—you must act.

To act means to create such connections between yourselves that will be suitable for our connection with the Creator. That is what we need.

Why Do We Need To Ask the Creator?

562.01Question: A man who was upset came to a sage and complained, “Today I thought why even pray or ask the Creator for this or that? Doesn’t He already know what is best or worst for me?”

“The Creator certainly knows,” the sage replied. “The question is, do you?”

Do we know what is better or worse for us?

Answer: This is a complex question. We need to understand that the best state for us is to be similar to the Creator. How do we achieve this? That is what we study. And how do we implement it? We also study that. The task is simply to implement it, but that is the problem.

Question: What does it mean to be similar to the Creator?

Answer: To be similar to the Creator means following the laws of the Torah. These laws are: love your neighbor as yourself and do not do to others what you do not want done to you. These fundamental laws bring us closer to the Creator.

Question: Do we know this is better for us or don’t we?

Answer: We know, but we do not want it. It is like with children. You tell them what is good for them, but they do what their egoism tells them.

Question: Is it better for the ego?

Answer: Yes.

Question: As a result, do we end up doing what is worse for us?

Answer: Yes in the end, there is a constant struggle between these two forces within us.

Comment: I see. But still, the idea you mentioned is attractive. It sounds good: do not do to others what you do not want for yourself.

My Response: It sounds good until I start seeing what is more important to me.

Question: Meaning, what is more important for oneself, for one’s egoism?

Answer: Yes.

Question: What is the correct request? What if we wanted to ask: “Let us do what is better, not worse”? What is the right request: “Help us choose the better” or “Help us accept everything that happens to us”? That is, we believe that You give us the best.

Answer: Help us realize where in our world there is a greater similarity to You.

Question: By doing so, do we choose the best?

Answer: Yes,  in our attributes, in our desires, etc.

Question: Does the Creator indicate where? Does He guide a person in this way if the request is truly deep and sincere?

Answer: Yes, if we truly desire it.

Connection in Width and in Height

945Question: Can the connection within a ten be stronger than the common connection at the convention?

Answer: These are completely different things. Connection in the ten is your personal connection with your root.

However, connection with all the people attending the convention is the connection in width, not in height. Therefore both are necessary.

Question: How can we convey the correct intention to the center of the ten in order to achieve a connection of the branch with the root?

Answer: I believe that if we follow the articles of Rabash and Baal HaSulam, we will ultimately reveal the entire network of connections between us and the Creator. Then, it will become clear that we already exist within this.

Each Person’s Influence on the Common System

944Question: If the system consists of tens, how will all the people in the world fit into this system since you have said that not everyone needs to study Kabbalah?

Answer: It is like in our earthly system. Someone does something, helps another in some way, and that person helps someone else, and so on.

We are all interconnected anyway, and as a result, everyone will eventually reach the final correction (Gmar Tikun).

Question: How does the spiritual individuality of each person help serve and move the spiritual system?

Answer: Each person, through his or her ten, influences the common system and thereby moves it forward.
