True or Imaginary?

43The question is, Is the filling that delights him true or is it imaginary? (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 137, “The Lack Is the Kli [Vessel]”)

Question: Why is the fulfillment that brings joy imaginary and not real? Does that mean that only deficiency is real?

Answer: A real deficiency (Hisaron) is exactly what we need to fill, correct, and raise to the Creator. If we do not have this need, we have no reason to turn to Him. That is why Rabash writes that there are different states: there are people who are sick, those who are healthy, and those who do not even feel that they are sick.

For us, the most important thing is to reach a state where we feel our illness and ask the Creator for its correction. A true deficiency can be revealed through discussions with one another where each person shares his desires and goals relative to others.

Question: What is imagination if everything I see is my internal perception?

Answer: What difference does it make whether it is imagination or feeling? It is what you perceive from the Creator. Therefore, you need to clarify whether this feeling gives you a correct connection with the Creator. If not, ask Him to change that connection.

When There Is Lack of Spirituality

95Hence, if the Creator afflicts when he has no spirituality, the suffering compels a person to make great efforts until he must obtain the spirituality that he feels he lacks (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 337, “Happy Is the Man”).

Question: We still cannot imagine what spirituality is. How can we feel the lack of something we have not yet truly felt?

Answer: This applies to people who already feel the lack of spirituality and regret not having it. Such feelings become the foundation for their advancement.

As a person engages in Kabbalah, they gradually perceive that the light of the Creator is acting upon them and guiding them forward toward correct feelings.

Question: Does that mean not everyone in this corporeal incarnation will come to spiritual attainment?

Answer: No, whoever is meant to come will come.

How Is One Born in the Spiritual World?

537Question: A viewer asks: “You recently answered my question that when the Torah mentions birth, it’s not about physical birth, and when it says a child was born, it refers to spiritual birth. What does it mean to be born spiritually?”

Answer: To be born spiritually means to rise above egoism and ascend to the quality of bestowal.

Question: Is this what is meant when it says: “Isaac was born to Abraham, Jacob was born”? Is this a gradual process of birth?

Answer: Yes.

Question: “Why isn’t it clearly written that a soul was born to a person and it was named, for example, Abraham?” asks our friend. Why isn’t it stated directly?

Answer: I think for those who wrote and read these texts, it was all clear. They were at a degree where they understood what needed to be written and what did not.

Question: So today we read it as an historical story, but in reality, they read it as a path of the soul?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Another question: “I have also heard that there is the concept of a miscarriage, not in corporeality, but in spirituality. What does that mean?”

Answer: A miscarriage occurs when instead of overcoming egoism and progressing toward altruism, the opposite happens—altruism is suppressed and egoism prevails. Therefore the person falls back into egoism.

Question: The increase of egoism? So this is where the miscarriage occurs?

Answer: Yes, it is already a miscarriage at that point.

Question: What do the nine months of pregnancy mean in the spiritual sense?

Answer: These are the nine Sefirot that we must pass through from Malchut up to Keter. Only then are we ready for spiritual birth.

Question: This movement from Malchut to Keter—what does it represent?

Answer: It represents moving from the desire to receive (where one starts) to the desire to bestow. It is not that the person suddenly desires to bestow, but rather they want to merge with the Creator’s quality.

Question: And this is what is meant by passing through the nine months?

Answer: Yes.

Question: In spiritual terms, what does it mean when the embryo does not turn with his head down before birth?

Answer: That is a problem. It must be turned.

Question: What does it mean when it does turn?

Answer: It means the person changes their attitude toward the world and is ready to exit with a new perspective. Initially, they are head up, focused on themselves, but now they turn head down, and are ready to enter the world.

Question: Why is being head down a sign of readiness for birth?

Answer: It signifies that the person considers all their previous qualities unsuitable for further spiritual development.

Question: Egoistic qualities?

Answer: Yes. That is why they end up head down. The person must pass through a narrow passage, as we see in our material world, and then gradually spiritual birth occurs. There are many stages in this process, but we will not go into detail now.

Question: Does turning head down mean some kind of submission?

Answer: It is a reversal in their relationship to the world.

Question: So it is like going from “the world exists for me” to “I exist for the world”? Can we put it that way?
Answer: Yes. And thus, the person is born head down.

Comment: This correlation between the spiritual and material always amazes me. You said it is very dangerous if a baby does not turn in the material world either. They must turn.

My Response: Of course.

Comment: It is such a direct consequence.

My Response: Yes.

Question: Does a spiritual cesarean section exist?

Answer: There is no such thing in nature.

Question: Nature does not interfere?

Answer: No.

Comment: So that is our invention, purely of our world.

My Response: Yes, of course. It is violence, and humans have been practicing it for many, many years, hundreds of years.

Question: Can birth be called the next spiritual degree of man?

Answer: Birth is the next spiritual degree of man, which is born in him, and he ascends to it and begins to function at that degree.

How to Control Your “Horse”

224The horse thinks that the owner gives it all its needs because he loves it like his sons. So why are the sons at home while it is in the stable? It is because it will make the house dirty. This is why the owner places it outside the house in its designated place (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 82, “A Horse to Ride On”).

Question: How can I understand what my “horse” (my desire to receive) needs to serve in the best possible way?

Answer: You must take the reins in one hand and the whip in the other to get the horse’s attention, indicating that you will only fulfill its correct intentions and desires. In this way, you will compel it to act solely for the master’s sake.

You stand between the horse and its master, you constantly direct the master’s attention to the horse so that the horse knows precisely why it is working.

Comment: From what I understand, it is essential to maintain a certain distance so the horse can appreciate the small things and does not get used to receiving everything all the time.
My Response: Yes, that is why you must hold the reins, headstall, and bit to control the horse correctly.

Questions about Spiritual Work—183

263Question: How can I get the feeling of the measure of receiving the light for the sake of the Creator?

Answer: You do not have such a measure of sensing the light to tell that such a measure is good and a little less is already bad. Therefore, it remains only to ask the Creator to teach you how to measure your capabilities and how to ask for the maximum.

Question: What does it mean to make even greater efforts in spiritual work?

Answer: Your intention for the sake of the Creator should be as strong as possible. Think about it constantly, and remember that you can add something else.

Question: There is a lot of tension in our ten at the moment, and an outright war is going on between two of us. Is there a particular correction intended for our ten, and how do we come to it?

Answer: You must rise above all tensions, unite with each other, and from this common connection turn to the Creator and call on Him to be revealed among you. He is obligated to connect with you and share the common desire to dissolve you in Him.

Question: Before receiving any spiritual pleasure, does one understand that he will suffer after that?

Answer: Maybe he understands, but advancement is more important for him.

“If You Leave Me One Day, I Will Leave You Two”

255Question: What does the expression “If you leave Me one day, I will leave you two” mean?

Answer: This is a condition set by the Creator. If you lose your desire for the Creator, it means that He has left you, and therefore you are moving away from Him.

That is, you leave Him, not because you do not want Him, but because He did not want you.

Then, you must conduct a serious study of why this happened, correct what He did not want you for in the past, and develop a new desire for Him. Therefore: “If you leave Me one day, I will leave you two.”

Question: How is this expressed in the ten?

Answer: We cannot even think about relaxing in the ten. We need to think about how to warm our friends up to the ever-increasing contact between us.

Correct the Flaw of the Tree of Knowledge

243.04A person must repent to the extent that it is “unto the Lord your God.” That is, he should feel that “the Lord is your God” personally, and then the flaw of the tree of knowledge will be corrected. (Rabash, “What is the Meaning of Failure in the Work?“)

We undertake the obligation to rise in faith above reason so neither our faith nor our reason are harmed in any way, and we will thus correct the problem of the sin of the Tree of Knowledge.

The revelation of the Creator’s desire lies in the fact that each of us discovers some of our problems, flaws, and sins that constantly drag us down. But we want to be part of the community of Israel and therefore want to return.

That is, a person wants to feel that the Creator is omnipotent, and wants to belong only to Him and do everything so that the Creator is above him. This is called correcting the flaw of the Tree of Knowledge.

Question: Can we clearly feel the Creator’s desire in the ten to fulfill it? And if we do not feel it, do we believe that we are fulfilling His wishes?

Answer: No, it is not enough to believe in it. You need to know it.

What Will Solve Our Problems?

528.02Question: When I look at the world, I feel an internal, endless cacophony of different desires and forces as if I have turned on a hundred TV channels at once. How can I transform this cacophony into a dialogue with the Creator?

Answer: The fact is that as the issues before us are resolved, we increasingly evoke the upper light that resolves these problems. We exist in relation to this light, which arranges us and shapes us into the necessary form, the correct ten. In this way, we move forward.
