Feel the Sorrow of the Shechina

963.4Man feels that following the inclination gives him sadness, and this is called “the sorrow of the Shechina [Divinity]” (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 890, “The Sorrow of the Shechina – 2”).

The sorrow of the Shechina is a state where I feel that my existence in egoism weighs on me and prevents me from ascending to the Creator.

Question: But isn’t this just regular egoism that suffers because I feel bad?

Answer: No, this is not regular egoism. This is egoism that acts against man, against the Creator. Therefore, to feel it means to feel the sorrow of the Shechina.

The Shechina is always the clothing of the Creator within egoism, within bestowal, in what I want to develop within myself.

Question: Who is the son of the Shechina, and what is the correct realization of this role?

Answer: The son of the Shechina (Ben HaShechina) is the one who was able to rise out of the egoistic desire to receive, connect with the desire to bestow, and remains only in that state.

Toward a New Communication Structure

938.07Question: What are the correct stages of revealing the Creator from a state of descent?

Answer: We need to constantly focus on ensuring that the revelation of the Creator is always maximal, anticipated, and that it brings us joy. We must recognize a descent as something coming from the Creator and for our benefit.

The evil that is revealed must be accepted as coming from the Creator, as it is written: “I have created the evil inclination, and I have created the Torah as a spice, for the light in it returns to the source.”

Therefore, the Klipot (impurities) and various impulses unrelated to the Creator are necessary for us to continuously strengthen our unity above them. We need to build such a structure of connection between us that fully reveals the Creator.

Comment: Knowing that the Creator is good and does good, it’s hard to blame Him for giving us evil.

My Response: He purposely made it this way so that we would get confused, feel the need for His help, and desire to reveal Him precisely despite our egoistic desires.

How to Get Joy?

572.02Therefore, he should know that the Creator is giving him a chance to begin to engage in Torah and work, and this will bring him the real joy called “the joy of Mitzva [commandment]” (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 507, “What Is Joy?”).

If I want to get closer to the Creator and be special in His eyes, a whole new way of relating to people, myself, and what is around me opens before me.

This is how I can choose what to engage in to show a special attitude toward the Creator.

Then I get joy from perceiving the whole world as coming from the Creator and out of this choose only those actions that would bring me closer to the Creator.

Question: Is this called a Mitzva (commandment)?

Answer: Of course. Any action of mine that the Creator desires is called a commandment.

Be Straight with Yourself

219.01Question: If we genuinely search for the right answers to spiritual questions in the depths of our hearts, but find them only in authentic sources, i.e., we still do not reach a high corrected level, what should we do about it?

Answer: Try to reach the level where your answer will be correct. Answer as correctly as possible, and the Creator will finish the rest for you.

You are examining yourself and realizing the Creator is in this process. Therefore, you need to answer what you think is right.

Then everything else will change, be corrected, and checked. You will see for yourself. Actually, one should strive to be as straight as possible with oneself.

Question: Should we cultivate the hope of correction, a new degree that will be purer, better, and more correct?

Answer: This should always be the case. This is where you start from.

Don’t Deprive the Creator

630.2Question: How does a person’s spiritual development happen? Does one begin to find joy in both spirituality and corporeality? Or should there be no joy before entering spirituality and then a sudden shift to spiritual joy?

Answer: No, a person can find joy in their small achievements or insights that they experience on the way to fully developing their desires.

Question: Some people in the group have a certain fear of rejoicing in our unity and connection. But there should be joy in the fact that we were able to unite and feel some upliftment, right?

Answer: Of course. It is foolish to think that it is not good to rejoice. If you do not rejoice, you deprive the Creator.

The Guarantees of the Creator

276.02Question: We talk about going back from fear and coming back from love. A person is constantly returning and leaving, returning and leaving. How can I be sure that I will no longer descend below a certain level from fear or love for the Creator?

Answer: It is said, “How is repentance? When He who knows the mysteries will testify that he will not turn back to folly” (The Zohar, Tazria). The Creator Himself guarantees that a person will no longer fall into the desire to receive.

In other words, the guarantee is the light of the Creator, which supports the person.

Questions about Spiritual Work—187

214Question: For a certain type of egoism, a specific teacher comes. How did the development of our egoism progress that specifically Baal HaSulam descended into this world to reveal the spiritual methodology to us?

Answer: Today, we cannot yet fully reveal this. We only see that a special person at a special time received a gift from the Creator that allowed him to explain and draw practically all people to the knowledge of the Creator.

Question: What is revelation of the Creator in feelings and in the mind?

Answer: It is when a person feels completely ready for adhesion with the Creator.

Question: The connection with the Creator becomes easier and simpler. What might this mean for the future?

Answer: What it will mean in the future I do not know. But we must understand that only through the upper light descending upon us can we achieve a connection with the Creator and with the purpose of creation.

Question: What is this paradox that in the last generation we have accumulated the greatest and heaviest egoism, but on the other hand, we have more opportunities to approach the Creator?

Answer: Huge egoism is precisely the condition for drawing closer to the Creator.

Is there Taste in Faith?

276.02Is there taste in faith? Of course, there is. It is a sweet taste—attraction.
We just need to find it, reveal it, and try it to know what that taste is.

After that, we will be able to determine whether we are in faith, close to it, or on the path to it. Then everything will become clearer to us.
