Both on My Behalf and According to the Prayer Book

525Question: Should a person feel ashamed that he cannot pray? He feels that his heart is not opening and experiences some kind of shame.

Answer: The person should still try to pray and read from the prayer book. Gradually, it will become clear to him what is written in these texts and how to turn to the Creator to learn something from such correct treatment.

Question: Should everyone pray according to the prayer book, or can they do it on their own if they feel that the Creator hears them?

Answer: You can do it on your own, but you still need to read the prayer book.

Everyone’s Spiritual Uniqueness

938.01Question: What is everyone’s spiritual uniqueness? How can we reveal it to unite not in desires, but in intentions where we are equal and everyone adds their own color to infinity?

Answer: You should try to rise above your ego and imagine that you already have the right qualities: love, desire to please others, and so on. If you act like this, you will succeed.

One’s spiritual uniqueness lies in the fact that he wants to fulfill another, although he does not understand how he does it in a way that no one else can in his place.

That is what the law of “love your neighbor as yourself” is about—investing in relations with friends.

Ninety percent of the followers can reveal their individuality and its realization only through the leaders. However, for the leaders to help them, the followers must exert the proper measurable effort. They need to try to be with such people who pull the group forward and thus act to correct everyone.

How Can You Grasp Spirituality?

610.1All of the souls extend from the soul of Adam HaRishon, for after he sinned in the sin of the Tree of Knowledge, his soul divided into 600,000 souls.

This means that the one light that Adam HaRishon had, which The Zohar called Zihara Ila’a [upper brightness], which he had in the Garden of Eden at once, spreads into numerous pieces (Rabash, Article 10 (1984) “To What Degree One must Attain In Order To Not Reincarnate”).

The Creator created a desire opposite Himself, seemingly separated from Him. The Creator is the attribute of bestowal. Desire is a property of reception. But in the state in which it was created, desire does not experience opposition to the Creator. Therefore, it undergoes division into 600,000 parts.

Six hundred thousand is a conditional concept. In spirituality, there is no division into parts or stages. We divide it this way for ourselves to grade, label, weigh, and determine spiritual states. In reality, spirituality is a continuous field without any distinctions.

Only when we try to feel and understand it and we need to somehow grasp it in our feelings and thoughts, do we divide it relative to ourselves into gradations and facets, although it is indivisible.

For example, consider air. Suppose we are trying to define what air is; we must divide it relative to ourselves into some quantities, values, and qualities. By itself, it may not have them at all, but otherwise, we cannot grasp or define it.

Therefore, for us to comprehend the Creator, He specifically created within Himself the desire to bestow and give pleasure. However, He does not represent the desire to bestow, to fill, a good or evil desire—all these manifest only in relation to the creations.

Make a Correct Calculation

243.01Question: How is giving a bribe to the Sitra Achra different from the conditions when a person stands before the Creator in order to learn?

Answer: If I feel that I am standing before the Creator, I make very clear calculations: for myself or for the Creator.

In this way, I determine how much I can keep for myself and how much I should give. By clarifying what can be given for the sake of the Creator, I make a restriction on everything else.

I figure out how to divide the pleasure from my action. Therefore, everything here is based only on the correct calculations that come only with experience.

We must learn to work with the Sitra Achra because it will accompany us until the final correction (Gmar Tikkun).

Put All the Images of the Creator Together

275Question: You said that everyone has their own Creator. When we unite and perceive each other’s Creator, what happens to Him? Does anything change?

Answer: The Creator combines all His images into one larger image.

Question: How does this affect our further interaction with Him?

Answer: If the unity is maintained, then you cling to Him even more, and if it is not maintained, then it is bad.

It is okay; you will gradually come to unity.
