The Nature of Creation

202Question: From where do thoughts of receiving arise in us?

Answer: The main thought of the universe, meaning, the Creator, the thought, created us opposite to Himself so that we could attain Him from this state and cloth in Him with our opposite qualities.

Question: It turns out that all our thoughts, our whole world, is the reverse side of the Creator, right?

Answer: That is exactly right. That is why our world is called “creation,” from the word “create,” that is, to create something opposite, external from oneself.

The thought we call the Creator is completely altruistic. We are absolutely egoistic. We are created by this thought as a desire to receive, and not like Him to give. But thanks to this very difference, we are something distinct from Him, exist independently, and are able to know Him from the outside, superimposed on Him.

Therefore, we come to such a state that we and He exist, and we can achieve equivalence of form with Him, while remaining opposite to Him by nature.

We cannot change our nature. Our thought remains egoistic, but we learn how to use it with the correct intention from this thought, from the Creator.

A Total Crisis

272Comment: According to economists, the impending crisis was anticipated by a number of American investment bankers, but they did not take any measures that could mitigate its consequences. Moreover, some of them openly tried to use the upcoming problems for their personal interests.

My Response: Of course! We cannot demand any other actions from people. Anyone in the world that sees that some kind of trouble or catastrophe is coming, but at the same time that some benefit can be drawn from it, will try to draw it. This is a natural impulse of our nature.

Therefore, you can’t blame them for this! And you can’t demand anything else from them. The smallest or biggest person in their place would have done the same. It’s just that people are envious that some were able to do something and the others were not.

We need to think about something else: “Where did the crisis come from? What can we do? What will happen in the future? Did it pass or not?” These are all absolutely open questions.

Naturally we are in a crisis. Gradually, it will nevertheless manifest itself despite the fact that we are trying to smooth it out in some way. But that’s not possible. Unemployment will rise and despite printing money and selling gold reserves, nothing will change.

Humanity will still find itself in a huge global crisis. This is not some kind of isolated crisis, but a universal one, a total crisis. It captures absolutely all manifestations of human society and all our activities.

Question: In some European countries, it is possible to receive unemployment benefits and not work, and then the country does not know what to do with these people because they get used to it and of course no longer want to work. Who is to blame here?

Answer: Of course, giving a person some benefits for free means educating them incorrectly. This is not how we should act in our society.

From the point of view of Kabbalah, this is a wrong approach to humanity, the world, and society. Each of us must have a balance between receiving and giving.

Such politics of governments regarding the reception of immigrants will bring these countries closer to the crisis even faster. But they can’t do it any other way! That’s the way society works.

“What is the significance of the recently-found oldest inscription in Hebrew, which is full of curses?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What is the significance of the recently-found oldest inscription in Hebrew, which is full of curses?

Researchers recently discovered what several experts claim to be the oldest-ever found Hebrew inscription from at least 3,200 years ago. Interestingly, it is full of curses, which shows that the nation back then was developed and powerful, capable of evil, and which also had faith in an upper force.

Even if the faith is expressed in a way where we can turn to the upper force and ask it to help us do something bad to our neighbor, there is significance in the consideration of the upper force. Today, we also curse each other. Back then, we turned to an upper force, and today we turn to lawyers and courts. So which era is the most developed?

We can thus see the underlying hatred in human beings, in one era pointed at the upper force, and in another era pointed at ourselves. Of utmost significance here is acknowledging that our progress into a bright future depends on turning our hatred into love.

Hatred is an asset. We can invert hatred into love, darkness into light, and turn our negative connections into positive ones. Moreover, we need the revelation of the negative force in order to invert it into its positive.

That is why I point out the Hebrew curse inscription showing that we were a great and powerful nation. By overcoming the evil in us, we had tremendous potential to do good in the world. That is relevant for us today: let us awaken that inclination today, and continue solely in the good direction.

“Love covers all crimes” is the formula for letting the upper force fill our lives with an abundance of fulfillment. We first reveal hatred, as the upper force reveals our true nature to us. We then try to come closer to each other, and convince each other that besides turning to the upper force—for it to correct us from hatred to love—we need nothing else. And the upper force is capable of inverting hatred to love because love is its quality.

Obtain the Land of Israel

933The fact of the matter is that the Creator delivered our holy land from the foreigners and has given it back to us, yet we have not received the land into our own authority, since the time of reception has not yet come, as we explained concerning the complete attainment (Baal HaSulam,“A Speech for the Completion of The Zohar”).

We must keep trying to correct ourselves. The time and opportunity will come when we will be able to do this and will treat each other as the people of Israel should—with love and mutual support for each other, completely unselfishly.

Then we will feel ourselves truly in a country that is called straight to the Creator (Yashar El)— Israel.

Information Boom and How We Perceive It

962.8Question: In the world now people have so much varying information crammed into them every day; this affects people in many ways. Is there anything to help people not get confused, but to stand firm and take the next step in our development? It is very difficult for people now. In the past, this has never happened.

Answer: This has not happened in the past, because people did not have such a massive amount of information. On the other hand, we need not to reduce the amount of information, but to correctly direct a person to the perception of it. Then everything will be fine.

A person will very quickly, correctly, and effectively sort out all the information that will try to move into him. Of course, there are many interesting things, but I cannot hear everything, read everything, and see everything. I am not able to pass all the information that is constantly being updated in the world through my five senses. It is just not possible.

And there is no need to do it. Each of us involuntarily becomes a filter in the way of the information that surrounds us.

Therefore, everyone should choose for themselves something basic, a little bit of the secondary and that’s it. What about everything else? There is nothing I can do about the fact that I will not read all the books, will not watch all the movies, will not see all the ballets, and so on.

Question: According to what should a person place some kind of limits for himself?

Answer: According to what he wants to achieve in life. If I am engaged in some interesting issue and this is my specialty, then I devote all my time to it. I try to fill myself only with it and dedicate an additional five percent of my total time to the events in the world.

Lack of Correspondence to the Holy Land

747.03Comment: It is written in all the sources that if the people of Israel do not correspond to the Holy Land, which they received as collateral, then it spits them out.

My Response: The disparity between the people’s qualities and the country’s qualities will lead to the fact that the country we are building will not be established. Since the land on which we would like to settle is special and is intended for us only when we are corrected, it will simply throw us out of here if we try to develop it while remaining uncorrected.

We should not think that this will happen through some special qualities. Just as the Romans came 2,000 years ago and threw us out of here, the same thing will happen now if we do not reach the quality of connection between us in an acceptable time frame.

What Is Man’s Perception?

928Question: At the moment, the world is going through a relatively complex stage of its development. We are attacked by a sea of information every day. A person’s reality is literally comprised of all the population and the entire world with its quick, abrupt changes. In an instant, your life can fall apart or on the contrary, rise from the ashes.

Sometimes one wonders how a person can survive in this kind of world, how he or she can keep the right foundation for his development, and how he can perceive everything that transpires correctly?

What is human perception? Is it a quality, a property, or an ability?

Answer: The world is what is given to us in our sensations. The world in itself is unknown and uninteresting to us, we don’t feel it and don’t even wish to know what it is. What interests us is how to change our sensations so that they are more certain, full, and predictable in relation to a new state.

There is such a concept as a thing-in-itself, the world-in-itself, but I would not say that this is what attracts us.

Question: Meaning, that there is a human being while perception is what is being added to him. Does this state have some kind of spiritual root?

Answer: I would say that a human being is that which perceives the surrounding world. And it is measured by how man perceives it. One’s entire worldview depends only on his or her perception. And all his aspirations in life amount to making his perception dependent only on him as much as possible.

“The Children of Israel Sighed from the Labor“

562.01We cannot just ask to acquire the qualities of bestowal because it is against our nature. How can I ask for something I do not know? Therefore, the Torah, Exodus 2:23, says:…and the children of Israel sighed from the labor…

They wanted to exit Egyptian slavery, that is, the control of egoism, and once they discovered that they were unable to do this, they began to shout: “How can we exit it? And if we do not exit, it will destroy us, we will remain like animals, in the intention ‘for our own sake.’ How can we rise to the level of man?” “Man – Adam” comes from the word “Domeh” –  similar to the Creator.

This is the tragedy that they felt in their condition in Egypt. Therefore, their cry rose to the Creator, and the Creator began to liberate them from slavery.

Question: Does it mean that they were not shouting because of Pharaoh’s hard work like we usually imagine?

Answer: This is the hard work: they wanted to exit their egoistic intention but discovered that they cannot. They were ready to do everything, but they could not do it. All their attempts and efforts are this scream.

Every person should reach such a state.
