Faith According To The Wisdom Of Kabbalah And According To Religion

laitman_260Question: What is the difference between faith according to the wisdom of Kabbalah (faith above reason) and faith according to religion?

Answer: According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, faith is the force of being above your ego. This force emerges in a person as a result of the effect of the Surrounding Light. According to religion, faith is a psychological sense of security in something that is uncertain.

“For The Lord, Your God, Is Testing You…”

laitman_603Torah, Deuteronomy 13:2 – 13:4: If there will arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of a dream, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder of which he spoke to you happens, [and he] says, “Let us go after other gods which you have not known, and let us worship them,” you shall not heed the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of a dream; for the Lord, your God, is testing you, to know whether you really love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul.

The Creator does everything that happens in the world. And He is very jealous. He constantly sends us all sorts of temptations so we can prove that we are still committed to Him. Moreover, the temptations are sent in such a way that we are sure that we are doing everything correctly and can’t disagree with them.

For example, I am told, “What is wrong with you? How can you act this way?! It can’t be that the Creator did this! Look, we have proof from Him! How can we listen to you? Sorry, but we’d rather listen to ourselves.”

And who says this? Not even strangers, but my own qualities within me. At this point, exactly these qualities and forces have the evidence and the authority that lead me sideways. It seems to me that this isn’t egoism but seemingly the right desires.

Did people know that they were going by the egoistic way during the destruction of the First and Second Temples?! Now we read about it in historical documents, but they thought that they were acting correctly, that there was no other way, and that this way they would be doing good and getting closer to the Creator! They were on a high spiritual level and were called the militant part of society.

We need to understand that the Creator plays with us seriously, and we must try to enlist external support in advance.

But today we are in a different tendency. The tendency at the time of both Temples was to bring people to a shattering, a dissipation, and a mixing with the rest of the nations of the world. Now, on the contrary, it is gathering and shaping people into one single system and distributing the force of connection from it outward. The connection gradually begins to emanate and spread to the rest of the nations of the world.

All of us together and each of us personally must change the direction, the paradigm, and correct many things. This is the choice of the spiritual path instead of the egoistic earthly existence.

Comment: We are used to direct evidence, experiments, and science that shows us the real results.

Response: Now, thanks to this same science, we are reaching a dead end, we’re up against the wall. Science throws its hands up and doesn’t know what to do. And it will occur on all levels.

Agricultural engineering, zoology, biology, and other simple earth sciences that people are engaged in will suddenly stop working. We’ll find ourselves in the world where we not only gradually lose the reins of control, but even the understanding of where we are and what we want to control.

First of all, we will see that we don’t have the reins in our hands, and secondly there are no “horses,” meaning the system that we used to control. There are none, we don’t see it; something revolves around, but everything is like in a dream.

Only in the wisdom of Kabbalah can we find an answer to the question of what is happening to us and what we should do in order to really take the system of control into our hands and become the creator of our destiny and the goal to which we must come.

Answers To Your Questions, Part 155

laitman_571_08Question: What is the Kabbalistic meaning of having a baby  if a newborn is born post-term, that is, not at nine months and almost ten (in obstetrics such situations are known)?

Answer: Anything that happens in our corporeal world is merely an egoistic reflection of the spiritual world.

Question: Why can’t an unmarried man engage in the correction of his ego?

Answer: In spirituality, an unmarried man symbolizes a person who has not acquired his attribute of Malchut yet, so he has nothing yet to correct.

Be Rich!

laitman_600_01Question: What is the spiritual meaning of money?

Answer: The word “money,” in Hebrew “Kesef,” from the word “Kissufim” stems from the root to yearn (which also implies a cover, a coating Masach, a screen), which means that we can build a screen in order to regain the Upper Light. and this is actually the way to get it back.

Therefore, in the spiritual sense of the word “money” is the power of reforming our ego and of attaining the revelation of the upper, of the Creator, by the Returning Light. This is the spiritual meaning of money.

The more anti-egoistic the screen a person has, the more he can reveal the upper world, the Creator, and thus become greater, attain more, and thus be called “rich.” It is because richness is measured by the degree of bestowal, by the degree of the attainment.

If I can receive the Upper Light and convey it through the screen to others, I am rich! It is because by conveying the Upper Light through me to others correctly, I receive a double portion of the Light. I have to receive it to perform an internal action of conveying to others and then I receive twice as much.

Not bad arithmetic, a good business! So engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah and be rich!

Are There Actions Of Bestowal In Our World?

laitman_559Question: Do I perform an act of bestowal if a person asks me for some water and I give it to him?

Answer: I am sorry to say that there is no bestowal at all in any action that we perform before the Upper Light corrects us. All of our actions are only disguised actions of in order to receive. Our actions stem from shame or because this is how we were brought up, and so on.

This means that, from the Kabbalistic perspective, there are no examples of bestowal in our world.

There is no bestowal nor love in world, only egoistic receiving.

New Life 789 – The Senses And The Feeling Of Life

New Life 789 – The Senses And The Feeling Of Life
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

We don’t know what is outside of us, but only what we perceive with our senses.

  • A person is not able to exist without receiving information from the environment; he is a part of it, he receives and emits information.
  • As a part of evolution, our desire to receive developed five senses to serve it. If a person would cut all of his senses off from absorbing information, within a few minutes he would collapse and become disconnected from life.
  • The sense of touch is the most basic sense, without the sense of touch a person stops feeling his existence. When the tactile sense ceases to function, it stops a person’s life.
  • Even imagination is only a result of the senses.
  • The general sense is the desire to receive, to enjoy, and the senses are like its branches, its limbs.
  • It is also possible to develop a spiritual existence through a desire to bestow. This desire to bestow is a spiritual concept that we don’t understand; it is possible to develop it through the wisdom of Kabbalah.
  • When the desire to bestow is developed, five spiritual senses are developed within it: Keter, Hochma, Bina, Zeir Anpin and Malchut.
  • The difference between the various senses is in the kind of waves they absorb.
