At The Entrance To The Tunnel

Dr. Michael LaitmanAdvancement through the “acceleration of time” (Achishena) is possible only if you walk as a bent-over old man who is looking for something seemingly lost. Then, when you disclose evil, good is revealed immediately opposite to it because I previously sought flaws while in a good state.

Everything depends on the trend of advancement. If I see a set table before me, then I care about a good appetite to enjoy the refreshments, that is, I look for a deficiency.

If we get enough influence from the environment, then it’s not important what happens to us. These days we are seriously involved in clarification about what mutual guarantee is, and it is clear that in accordance with this we experience strong blows, common problems, but we overcome them quickly and easily. Everything depends on the trend.

This means that I will never be confident in my strength and I always need more mutual guarantee. It will never be enough. Indeed, at the moment, as I equip myself with some measure of mutual guarantee, I immediately become distant and various disturbances arise that I can transform in the middle line with the help of mutual guarantee, having turned them into advancement.

Therefore, we must strive for mutual guarantee as much as we can, and this will cause our tiredness, rejection, and nasty feelings. All these obstacles are present in the work on mutual guarantee because there are three lines in the middle line, and in the left and in the right. By this, we develop our soul by beginning to work with our internal states.

We strive to achieve the strongest possible mutual guarantee, and when we feel that our unity has obtained enough strength, then we ourselves begin to awaken the left line, the appetite, which is called to “awaken the dawn,” not waiting until “the dawn awakens me.” Usually, this opportunity comes through a wider environment. Then, we need to work on the importance of our group relative to the external society.

Inside the group, I work so that the group is more important than me. Now, I have to work with my group, united together, so that the rest of the external environment is less important than this group. That is, the group is more important than me and the entire external society (the external society does not mean our world group). Then I will be able to draw new desires from there and increase our mutual guarantee.

There is nothing to worry about but mutual guarantee because to the extent of our force of unity, the forces of breaking, new Reshimot will be awakened. We will start working with them in order to achieve the human image, by gluing all the pieces together. We do not need to worry about the Reshimot that emerge from the breaking but only about our fuel and energy. In mutual guarantee, we receive force just as “raw material.” Various disturbances that come help us give a concrete form to this guarantee.

The force of guarantee has no form; the form comes from the negative, from flaws. If I do not come across obstacles, then I do not feel that I exist. The air puts pressure on me, all my sense organs receive different effects without which I would not feel that I exist. The same thing happens with the force of mutual guarantee: If I have this force, but feel no resistance, then I do not feel that I am in the spiritual world.

We feel that we are in the spiritual world only due to the forces of darkness. The Light itself does not draw any forms, the form is born out of the darkness.

We pass through these states on the path until we stand on the direct beam (Kav), along which we continue our movement towards the goal. This entrance to the tunnel in the “tube,” the middle line, is very important and difficult. For a long time we go round in circles at the entrance, not daring to enter, make a step and retreat. But when we enter, thanks to the lessons we learned, we continue to advance in it.

Facing A Wall Of Ego

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: I don’t understand where the point that I can be impressed is if I am totally absorbed in my ego.

Answer: I cannot explain that yet, but you can already feel that it is happening: A kind of passage opens up which we don’t identify in our corporeal senses. There is a kind of hiding place here that we can get into.

There is a wall before you that suddenly opens up and you can enter. It is called an opening and a door in spirituality. When does it happen? When you don’t want to identify a wall before you, you decide that it isn’t a wall and that you are going to enter through it! Then you actually enter if you want to nullify your ego, which stands between you and the Creator. This means that you accept the conditions of mutual guarantee.

I Want To Go On!

Dr. Michael LaitmanIt is impossible to check and judge our states according to our feelings. A pregnant woman may not feel so good sometimes, but does she want to abort? On the contrary, she wants to continue! The goal is to be a mother, to have a child and hold the baby in her arms, and that compensates and justifies all the pain and discomfort that she feels.

The body suffers; the whole period of pregnancy and giving birth is not easy and may be tragic, dangerous, and critical. If an alien from outer space who knows nothing about our life on earth would see this, he would be shocked by the torture the poor woman is being put through, but we are happy and delighted by the whole process of pregnancy and the birth of a baby.

We are advancing towards the birth of a new level, so what do we lack in order to be glad in every state? We should see “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my adversaries,” as it says in Psalms 23: “my enemies,” who are in me so that they will see it. I don’t want to reassure them by that and vice-versa, rather, to tease them and to praise the goal.

If you don’t feel a greater impression than you felt yesterday, it means that you lack the support of the group. The whole group lacks the force of unity in order to empower each individual and everyone together, in order to survive the current state.

On The Other Side Of The Screen

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Many people watch our programs on TV but they have never contacted us and have never attended a convention. Should they do so? Perhaps what they experience when they watch our programs is enough for them.

Answer: I receive many emails with such questions every day. There are hundreds of thousands of people in Israel and all over the world who watch our shows on TV or on the Internet. How is this kind of participation different from actual physical participation?

You can judge by the last events: A group of friends got together and decided that they have to develop the new method of education. As a result, they delved into the educational process and grew more and more excited as new horizons opened up before them. Eventually they were excited about the potential they found in the wisdom of Kabbalah since education is the essence of changing a person.

The still, vegetative, and animate nature have developed for ages. But here we are talking about very rapid and meaningful changes, the transition from the animate level to the human level.

Compared to the previous form of evolution, these two levels come one after the other in the opposite order of evolution. This oppositeness is fulfilled by the Light that Reforms, and it is possible when people connect if they are together, if they touch one another, if they are in a circle breathing the same air, otherwise it won’t work.

So I turn to all those who are used to watching us on a screen and especially on a TV screen. According to the data the cable companies have, there are hundreds of thousands of such people in Israel. You are our loyal viewers; you are the ones who spend a lot of time watching our programs. I warmly recommend that you don’t miss this opportunity. It’s possible to go through a whole level by one leap, as it is said: “a person who attains his world in one hour.” Come to the convention in February and you will be able to feel and to discover what you have been hearing for quite a while now but don’t feel and don’t understand yet. It will truly be something new, a revelation of a whole world. It’s a pity if you miss this opportunity.

I turn to you as a one who understands what can be acquired in the two or three days that you will spend with us. We hope that you, the viewers of channel 66, will also be with us in Tel Aviv on February 5 – 7, 2014, together with the thousands who will come from all over the world.

I also turn to our friends all over the world, of course. Hurry up and buy a ticket and come. You can also participate in the Arava convention, in the education convention and The Zohar convention. We are expecting you. The preparation has already started and we will support it and undoubtedly fulfill everything that we have heard. It’s actually happening now. Let’s hope it will happen for everyone.

“Christianity Vs Islam: What Future Awaits Europe?”

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from The Voice of Russia): “The standoff between Christianity and Islam in European countries is becoming more and more dangerous each year. According to some experts, today the European community is facing a harsh choice: if the Islamization of Europe continues, one might soon have to say good-bye to Christianity in the countries of the Old World.

“For a number of years on the eve of Christmas various European countries are shaken by scandals. In an increasing number of states the authorities refuse to put up in public places that integral attribute of the holiday, a Christmas tree, decorated with a nativity scene. The politicians explain their actions by their fear to insult the religious feelings of those who don’t believe in the Biblical stories. The demand to take off the Christian attributes primarily comes from Muslim communities, which are more and more aggressively trying to impose on the West their moral and religious values and view of the world. …

“If in the past Muslims living in the EU did not like the presence of dogs in the streets and public places in Europe, they demanded the authorities to issue special laws that would limit the breeding of such ‘impure animals,’ now they are demanding that Sharia Law be introduced at the state level. Some laws of Islamic law are already used in Belgium and the Netherlands in reviewing civil cases. …

“A spark of grudge slowly but surely turned into a real fire. … According to preliminary calculations, by 2025 about 40 million Muslims will live in the EU. In some countries the number of mosques has already surpassed the number of Christian churches. The Old World has no longer the opportunity to choose one or the other. …”

My Comment: There is no place for comment because the facts are cited. The tiredness of old Europe and the energetic youth of Islam are not comparable—and there is no choice. It is said in the Torah about Ishmael, the son of Abraham and Hagar, from whom Islam originated: “His hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him,” the entire world will deal with it.

As for the relationship between Arabs and Jews, it is said there in the Torah: “And he shall dwell before the face of all his brethren.” The descendants of the two brothers Ishmael and Isaac will not mix with one another, but will live separately against each other in an unpleasant close proximity.

The Taming Of The Obstinate

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: In the system of integrality, it is said that a person can use his egoistic attributes for the benefit of himself and of others. How can we use such attributes as envy, vanity, cunning, and ambition?

Answer: Only in order to deceive our ego.

During the study of integral education we teach how to correctly use all of our attributes against our egoism.

For example, it is possible to use our cunningness in order to deceive our ego and not another person. After all, we bring our ego outside and fight it, not in order to kill it, but in order to change the way we use it. Egoism in itself can be a very good attribute.

When all egoistic desire is applied for the benefit of the rest, then it transforms into altruism. There is always a reverse, a mirror application.

Let’s take hatred as an example. If you begin to hate the ego in its natural manifestation of unconscious, you will suddenly discover how it controls you. Together with this, hatred against the ego grows with such great force that you are ready for anything just to restrain it. And finally, seizing the moment, you snap a bridle on it with a sweet feeling of victory, and tighten it more and more.

But you don’t kill the ego. When it begins to choke you, slowly pet it, taming it, just like taming a wild horse when it is already full of fury and passes that point and begins to obey you. Then it can be easily applied in a positive way.

An Active Member Of Society

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Integral groups focus on a person attempting to go beyond his ego, to rise above it, to be integrated with the other participants in the group. Along with this, it is recommended to turn away from regular life, to leave everything behind at the door of the group.

Answer: No, people do not isolate themselves from external society. This is not asceticism; this is not entry into a closed cell, rather it is work on our nature.

A person continues to participate in the life of society in a regular way. He has a family, children, work; in other words , he is a regular member of society. But together with this, a new direction in life, philosophy of life, appears within him that rises in value and overrides his regular way of life.

He can change his work so that it will be easier for him to study, he can change his residence to be closer to a group, but he doesn’t leave society; he doesn’t forego anything. On the contrary, at some stage, when he learns a bit about the integral method, a person begins to turn to wider circles of society. When he completely masters the method, he goes out to the society and begins to actively implement it there.

Comprehend The Higher Power Of Nature

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Does the ego change its form during the shared work with the altruistic force, or will it remain as it was in its essence?

Answer: With the correct interaction between egoism and the force opposite to it, we begin to learn about one force from the other force, to understand their essence correctly, to perceive whom we are building between them. In fact, we are constructing that power that produced both the egoism and the altruism. It’s called the higher power of nature that produced the Big Bang in its time. It is from the Big Bang that the two forces were created: the altruistic force, which is hidden in nature, and the egoistic force, that began to extend, to conquer space, to contract and compress all of the matter that was created.

Together with this, within the matter, the altruistic force is acting all the time, but it works without being felt. After all, if it didn’t exist, how would the elements have been connected? They would have only been scattered around. If the force of altruism had not connected everything, then egoism wouldn’t have had the possibility of separating, pushing to the sides, expanding.

Expansion always requires the existence of the inner force that keeps the connection, and if there is no connection, then this is no longer development. Development is an expansion of the limits of the previous state where new qualitative linkages, new laws of switching, are being discovered in it.

Therefore both egoism and altruism exist in nature. In that we derive the hidden altruistic component from nature, we begin to develop ourselves and human society as one unified whole. Simultaneously, besides humanity, we use the nature of the still, vegetative, and animate in that spirit, in that harmony, in that global and integral movement towards unity, towards reciprocal integration in each other. We build one whole from all parts of nature. And then the only creature that we create from the unity of all the parts is discovered. And this is called Adam, that is, resembles the Creator, from the word “Domeh – similar.”

Thus, through the creation of this system, we discover in it that force that produces the positive and negative components from it. We call this force the Creator because it created our entire universe and us, created all the prerequisites so that we would construct ourselves wisely from the two opposing forces and we would understand what this force is.
