The Torah, “Leviticus,” 19:19: You shall observe My statutes: You shall not crossbreed your livestock with different species. You shall not sow your field with a mixture of seeds, and a garment which has a mixture of shaatnez shall not come upon you.

In our times we do exactly the opposite by creating genetically modified food products. This phenomenon has entered into the general destruction of humanity. We have changed greatly and don’t even imagine how the consumption of these food products is influencing us.

If I buy a kilogram of tomatoes and keep them in the kitchen at room temperature of eighty-six degrees and they remain as they were when I bought them a month ago, this is a sign that they are not alive. It is something that has no vitality in it!

Tomatoes like these aren’t growing or vital and are food that in principle the body doesn’t need, for in fact, this is a collection of all kinds of chemical elements. And even though they nourish my body, this is not at all what should be from nature. Finally, we are only now beginning to discover in what manner these actions influence us, whether there is a connection between them, social morality, and our world view.

Together with this, within me there could be a replacement not only of the internal programs but also the elements of my body themselves. There was a time, 10-15 years ago, when we thought that hackers who inserted viruses into a computer could only harm the computer programs but not the system itself. Eventually, we became aware that they can also harm the computer itself.

We don’t imagine the consequences of consuming genetically modified food. Nothing in the world should be changed in such a manner. But on the other hand, in distancing ourselves from nature, we are beginning to understand what kind of a blind alley we have entered. In other words, this is the law of denial. And even though our “beast” isn’t particularly suffering, the “human” in us will become worse and worse. And that is how it will be with everything! Otherwise, there cannot be any recognition of evil.

Midrash Sefer, “Beshalch:” When the Children of Israel reached the seashore, the waves hit them and stood against them like a wall. But the Jews kept on their way into the sea, thus fulfilling the Creator’s command.

There was a dispute who about who should be given the right to jump into the sea first. The head of the tribe of Judah, Nahshon the son of Aminadav jumped into the sea and the tribe of Benjamin followed him. When the people of the tribe of Judah saw that the people of the tribe of Benjamin preceded them, they began to throw stones at them.

The Creator said: “I know that the dispute between Judah and Benjamin was in my honor, and therefore I shall repay both.” Benjamin was rewarded by the fact that the Temple was built on its estate and Judah held the honor of the kingdom.”

Nahshon, the son of Aminadav from the tribe of Judah, is an attribute the can ascend to a very high level in its faith.

A person doesn’t simply jump into the water for no reason, since is not a problem for any of us to jump into the water. It is about the development of the attribute of faith within us.

Faith is the attribute of bestowal that is high above all the huge desires that exist in all the twelve tribes. At the same time, a person has to demand it from the Creator in such a manner that he can lead the others after him.

Nahshon jumped first and thanks to that, all the others followed him, the same as they did on dry land. For them it was no longer a problem since they didn’t have to meet the same requirements.

Nahshon is the pure attribute of Bina. Therefore, he takes the whole common united ego and raises it to the level of GAR of Bina (absolute bestowal). It isn’t a desperate or irrational act. According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, everything is based on accurate calculations, but the calculations are based on the efforts done in order to reach the state of bestowal.

The Midrash Mispar, Parashat HaShavua, “Beshalach”: The Creator said, “I know that the dispute between Judah and Benjamin was for the sake of My honor, therefore I will bless both of them.”  

Benjamin received his blessing in that the Beit HaMikdash (Temple) was built in his inheritance, and Judah began to possess the honor of the kingship.

Judah and Benjamin are two characteristics, two opposing forces, who shared in the birth of the people.

The layout, or general outline, of Egypt is reminiscent of the form of the uterus with a birth canal and the straits where the Israelis crossed the Red Sea. The forces that were sent after them by Pharaoh and which drove them forward symbolize the contractions in the uterus that push the fetus out.

The Midrash, “BeShalach,”: There was a dispute over whether to give someone the right to jump into the sea first. The head of the tribe of Judah, Nachshon ben Abinadab, first jumped into the water.

Question: Why did members of different tribes begin to argue who should first jump into the sea?

Answer: Every man contains within him the people of Israel, the Egyptians, and all the other properties. It is unknown by which of them he can overcome the sea. So he chooses to move forward with the help of a property or their total unity, a little from the Egyptians and a bit from the people of Israel.

A person analyzes, “These properties I can manifest from the Egyptians in order to move forward, otherwise I will not fear and will be relaxed, and these I can manifest from the Creator to appease the Egyptians themselves and to move towards Him.”

He constantly uses the plus and minus, as an engine that runs on two opposite forces that rotate it. One pushes from the front and the other one pushes from the back or to the sides. A person manages this on his own.

The more opposing forces he can control and properly connect within oneself in order to achieve the goal, the higher one gets. This is why the dispute occurs, and why Nachshon should jump and not other properties or all of them at the same time.

When people from the tribe of Judah saw that the children of Benjamin Ben Nachshon ahead of them, they started throwing stones at them.

Stone (Even) derived from the word “Abana” (stony). Usually during any action, a person overcomes various thoughts, a desire to understand, to realize what was happening. But in the spiritual work it is necessary to move above reason.

A person begins to concentrate on one’s own abilities by forgetting that by just grasping the Creator one can pass the sea, one can enter Him like entering the mother’s womb that will be one’s ark, and the waters of the sea will part.

The Torah, “Leviticus”, 11:13 to 11:21: And among birds, you shall hold these in abomination; they shall not be eaten; they are an abomination: The eagle [or the griffin vulture], the kite, the osprey, the kestrel, and the vulture after its species,  and the raven after its species, the ostrich, the jay, and the sparrow hawk, and the goshawk after its species; The owl, the gull, the little owl; The bat, the starling, the magpie; the stork, the heron after its species; the hoopoe and the atalef;  Any flying insect that walks on four, is an abomination for you. However, among all the flying insects that walk on four [legs], you may eat [from] those that have jointed [leg like] extensions above its [regular] legs, with which they hop on the ground.

We see all the levels of a person’s desires here. Inside myself, I gradually begin to discover my inner essence to the extent that I advance and I begin to see these names above me. They are like captions. I begin to understand that this is the Gematria of the given desire, its name, its attribute. Suddenly I begin to feel that I understand the biology, zoology, and the botany described in the Torah. It is inside me.

The Torah, “Leviticus”, 11:25: And anyone who carries their carcass shall immerse his garments, and he shall be unclean until evening…

Clothing is an external Masach (screen). If I touch an uncorrected desire, I fall and lose the Masach. Therefore, I have to correct this desire, wash it in water, in the Light of Hassadim (mercy).

But if I cannot correct it, since it suddenly grows weak, and I cannot work with it in order to bestow; I need to draw away from the source of temptation, meaning to remove myself from the source of temptation.

When I begin to attain that, all the texts in the Torah arise in me and become clear, since, after all, how did the author of the Torah write it? He wrote it by what he discovered inside himself.

He wasn’t a biologist or a zoologist and he didn’t stroll in the forests and the fields. Did he see these attributes, especially the ostrich and other animals that didn’t even live in these areas? It is all revealed within a person.

The Midrash “BeShalach”: Moses began to pray, and the Creator opened the heavens. The enlightenment came down upon the nation of Israel, and they saw an army of angels by their side. Moses continued to pray, but the Creator said to him, “This is not the time for prolonged prayers. My children are experiencing a critical moment. You don’t have to turn your voice to Me since the prayers of my sons come before yours, and I hear them. Tell them to go into the sea, and I will perform miracles for them!”

Comment: The matter is that, if you want to invite the upper bestowal, you must request it from your level, and only after that will the Creator begin to act.

Answer: In the beginning, it needs to be an awakening from below, and then, according to this, will come the awakening from above.

But the people are led and instructed by spiritual leaders that show it the correct way. Without them we wouldn’t know what to do so we need to listen to the spiritual teachers and carry out whatever we are told.

Today leaders and politicians are completely dependent on the people. If the people so desire, then they would do anything they want with the people. Thus, the main thing for the leaders of today is not to give the people this opportunity. They try through all means to suppress the desire that awakens in them, to block and quiet their ambitions.

However, very slowly, the wise ones will replace the politicians; the time of the revival of the Sanhedrin when the wise ones will decide together and, from within their unity, will come one, complete whole.

The Book of Zohar, “Tazria,” Item 23: “If a woman inseminates, she delivers a male child.” The woman, Malchut, delivers the souls, and delivers a male child. It is not included of male and female, as it is usually when the souls are born male and female, since through the sins of the lower ones, they cause the souls to not join male and female in Malchut, as they emerge above, in couples—male and female. This is why it is written, “She delivers a male child,” since what appears to this world is only a male, who is not included with a female.

The male and the female elements in the spiritual world are the attribute of bestowal and the attribute of receiving and they are in the correct states. They are mutually connected and they complement each other, which means that they inseminate and give birth to new life by the connection of the right and the left lines. But since the conception and the birth do not occur simultaneously, the correction is performed alternately.

This is the reason that the woman gives birth both to the male part and to the female part.

A woman is the upper level that absorbs the Reshimot (the spiritual genes) and develops them inside her. This is how the soul is born, but only if our body, which means our desires, and our intentions accompany the whole spiritual process.

Human beings in our world do not have a soul on the corporeal level, which is an animate entity. If we want to possess something human, we need to develop our soul, and then we can be called Adam, human.

There are Reshimot (spiritual genes) in each of us and we can assist their nine months intrauterine development inside Malchut by raising our desires and our wishes to that level and by doing everything so that the Reshimot should develop properly. At the end of what we call a spiritual period of nine months, nine consecutive processes that they undergo, the soul is created in them.

Therefore, we should exist on the animate, corporeal level the same way nature, history, society, etc. obliges us to function and we should focus everything else above that in order to develop the Reshimot.

Question: The male and the female elements in the spiritual world are connected while in our world everything is shattered, divided and born separately. Does that mean that we have to connect the two elements and restore the spiritual state?

Answer: All the spiritual forces are aimed at that in order to fulfill every person’s spiritual Reshimo and to create one whole body, one unique soul from them. There are no divisions in it and by itself it resembles the Creator!

There are no concepts like a female soul or a male soul in the upper world since there is perfect harmony there and mutual complement.

The Torah, “Leviticus,” 11:43 – 11:45: You shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping creature that creeps, and you shall not defile yourselves with them, that you should become unclean through them. For I am the Lord your God, and you shall sanctify yourselves and be holy, because I am holy, and you shall not defile yourselves through any creeping creature that crawls on the ground. For I am the Lord Who has brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God. Thus, you shall be holy, because I am holy.

If we use all our desires properly by correcting them, we will attain the level of holiness, complete bestowal and love of others.

The sentence: “For I am the Lord Who has brought you up from the land of Egypt” often repeats in the Torah because a person can come out of his ego only under the influence of the Upper Light. We only need the desire for that.

All the chapters of the Torah tell us about serving the Creator, about spiritual laws, about the revelation of the ego in all its forms, and about the correction that follows. The ego can be expressed in any language: in music, in drawings, and in dances, anything.

The main thing is that we should understand it correctly and correct it with the help of the Upper Light and use it correctly, in love and bestowal. Then we will be like the Creator: “For I am the Lord your God, and you shall sanctify yourselves and be holy.”

The Torah, “Leviticus,” 11:36: But a spring or a cistern, a gathering of water remains clean. However, one who touches their carcass shall become unclean.

If a carcass, a corpse, falls into a spring of water, it still remains pure.

By the way, water in which there is a corpse was considered healing water. There used to be a purification well in the cemetery where the holy ARI is buried, a water hole where they used to wash the corpses before burial. People used to come there especially to dip in that water to get well. Therefore, they closed that hole.

There was a popular belief that it is very helpful to wash with the same soap that the dead were washed with. This means that these are the means that correct even the dead, that is, even a dead desire.

The Midrash “BeShalach”: …In addition to that, the cloud cast darkness on the Egyptian camp in order to protect the children of Israel. The plague of darkness in Egypt lasted only six days (and not seven like the other plagues). The Lord reserved the seventh day of darkness precisely for such a case.

When the Egyptians advanced along their way in the dark, by cursing and shooting arrows, the vision of the Jewish camp that is illuminated by the cloud of the Creator appeared before them, and the children of Israel ate, drank, and praised and glorified the Creator.

All this theater is inside a person. It all depends on a person’s perspective as he watches what is going on. If it is from the perspective of his egoistic attributes, he is very upset, but if it is from the perspective of the altruistic attributes, he eats, drinks, and then everything is fine.

However, the movement forward and the advancement are actually based on the unity of these two opposite inclinations: egoism and altruism; it cannot be one without the other. Even the entrance into the Dead Sea (Yam Suf) is under the influence of the two forces.

Indeed, we never detach ourselves from our egoistic attributes no matter what we call them: the Egyptians, Egypt, or Pharaoh. Both these attributes and the others go through different transformations at the same time. As was said earlier, some celebrate, some go wild, and some go crazy. The two attributes are in a person, one opposite the other.

Escaping from Egypt means wanting your altruistic forces to dominate you. However, they cannot dominate you in such a way that you would give in to them and not want to know anything. No! You must be in your egoistic attribute above every altruistic attribute.

They never separate. Even if it says that some of them escaped and others drowned, they remain, but in a dead state until they reawaken in you once again and draw you in their direction. However, they cannot disappear and always are ready for action.

The egoistic desires do not disappear until the last correction. Then, they change completely, as written, “…the angel of death becomes a holy angel…”

Thus, the Israelis cannot exist without the Egyptians because one cannot be without the other.
