Toward the Right Choice

237Man is made of three bodies:
    A) the inner body, which is a clothing for the soul of Kedusha [holiness];
    B) the Klipa [shell] of Noga;
    C) the serpent’s skin (Baal HaSulam, Shamati 36, What Are the Three Bodies in Man?).

Question: Is the inner strength the total strength of the ten?

Answer: If you can do that, then it is good.

Question: Do we need the other two bodies to strengthen the connection?

Answer: No, we strengthen the bond only through our common body. And the other two—the Klipat Noga and the outer body (snake skin)—are needed only in order to push of them to the right choice. And then we drag them into a positive connection and start using them for the sake of holiness.

Question: If thoughts are more important than actions, then where do they come from, from the inner body, holiness, from the Klipat Noga, or from both mixed up?

Answer: From everything together. As a rule, confusing thoughts come to us, and we have to sort them out and follow only the right choice. You should try to deal with these three bodies and always feel which one you are working with.

Basically, you always need to reach out to the right line, to the inner body, where you are most connected to each other.

Extending Vitality

543.01Prior to the sin of the tree of knowledge, vitality was not dependent on the bread. That is, there was no need to extend light and vitality, but it illuminated (Baal HaSulam. Shamati 36 “What Are the Three Bodies in Man?”).

Question: What does it mean to extend vitality?

Answer: Before working with the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, there is no way to be in connection with good and evil in order to perform actions between them to separate, distance them from each other, and put ourselves in the middle.

Question: Can we distinguish this vitality in the ten?

Answer: No. In the ten, we must act in such a way as to work with the inner body, i.e., with what concerns holiness (Guf de Kedusha), separate from Klipat Noga, what we can separate, and adhere to the inner body of holiness. And what we are not yet able to correct, we do not touch.

Get Rid of the Klipa’s Power

528.01It is known that the Sitra Achra has no lights…. Therefore, as one rises from one’s bed daily and washes oneself to purify his body from the filth of the body, so one should wash oneself from the filth of the Klipa (Baal HaSulam, Shamati 59 “Concerning the Staff and the Serpent”).

Question: It is said that Sitra Achra (Klipa, evil spirits) does not have its own lights, but at the same time we can easily fall under its power.

Where does the Klipa get its strength and power without lights?

Answer: From us, because our egoism works for the Sitra Achra. And only if we go against it do we gradually weaken it.

To do this, we need to unite in a ten, accept the desires of the ten as higher than our own, and so continue to advance.

138Question: Several friends always wake up an hour before the lesson to prepare. How can I increase the germ of envy toward them?

Answer: We need to raise the importance of preparation in ourselves. A person who prepares for a lesson gets a lot more from the lesson than the lesson gives.

Question: How can you properly attach external Kelim to yourself?

Answer: With love. And then there will not be any problems.

Question: My ten is getting closer to me than my family, as if it lives in my mind all the time. Many things that used to interest me are no longer valuable to me. Does this mean that I have a good connection with the ten?

Answer: Yes, because this is how you begin to feel your soul.

Question: Why, by imagining some states, although they are all fantasies and not real, do we get to the right spiritual degrees?

Answer: It is normal. That is how you progress. You stumble, but eventually, you crawl to the upper degree, like a small child who, unable to go up the stairs, climbs them.

Question: What is the difference between the concepts of “house” and “temple”? These are different Kelim (vessels). How are they different?

Answer: The temple is a home for many souls placed there and from there they cry out to the Creator from their unity.

A house is a family that lives in it and aspires to the Creator or maybe not. In other words, the house is for the family, and the temple is for the souls.

Question: Can one envy the Creator?

Answer: Yes. We want to become like the Creator, so we envy all His qualities, which we want to resemble. This point is called our correction.

Live in a Positive Way

597.02Question: When a lack of confidence and hope appears in the ten, can such properties as envy, vanity, and honor return it to the state of the spirit of life?

Answer: Of course. If you think about the state you want to experience in the ten, try to create it, and you will see it is possible. By imagining a good future, you will thus attract it to yourself.

Question: What should we focus on when we are envious or jealous? Do negative qualities ensure spiritual growth?

Answer: No, it does not increase spiritual growth. Envy with good envy and it will help you rise. And when you rise with your friends, then you will help them.

In any case, try to live with those positive feelings that you want to use. Start feeling them more, and then you will understand what you can use and cannot.

With a Staff in Hand

232.05Question: A person leans on a staff when walking. What is spiritual support?

Answer: It is faith above reason. The staff symbolizes this quality. Everyone must annul themselves before the others to realize it in the ten. Then it is considered walking forward with a staff in his hand.

You must correct your desires from reception to bestowal to receive faith above reason. This is only possible in a group because one person cannot do it.

Question: How can you be in faith above reason, in complete faith in dissemination?

Answer: Ignore the failures and thank the Creator for giving you the opportunity to disseminate. In our world, you are His representatives.

268_03Question: Why should receiving the Torah happen at the top of the mountain?

Answer: “Mountain” (Har) comes from the word “Hirhurim” –  doubts. Doubts constantly fill a person on the spiritual path, but despite them, he still goes forward and climbs the mountain, although it is not easy.

Question: What happens to a person when he receives the Torah?

Answer: He reveals the Creator, is filled with the upper light, and feels himself in the upper world. At the same time, our world does not disappear anywhere. It is just that a person feels like he exists in both worlds.

Question: What should we do when hatred appears between friends?

Answer: We all must attack this hatred together and try to remove it by any means: tear it up, trample it down, burn it.

Question: If a person studies the Torah with an open heart but without a calculation of intention, does he receive its light?

Answer: He receives it. In any case, the study of the Torah attracts the upper light to us: small or big, leading him forward or not, it gives some light.

Question: What is our mistake on the path when we walk, make efforts, and the Torah suddenly becomes the potion of death instead of the elixir of life?

Answer: This happens because you are striving for egoistic fulfillment. But you still keep making efforts, and eventually, the light of the Torah will be replaced by the light of purification, and you will know everything.
