Baal HaSulam, The Writings of the Last Generation: This is because in fact, there is nothing more natural than coming into contact with one’s maker, for He has made nature. In fact, every creature has contact with his maker, as it is written, “The whole earth is full of His glory,” except we do not know or feel it.

Such contact exists all the time. It comes from the Creator and not from creation, and our task is to start feeling it. This is the wisdom of Kabbalah.

By definition, the wisdom of Kabbalah is the revelation of the Creator to man in this world. The revelation is only in sensations.

Question: So, “the whole earth is full of His glory” comes from the Creator, and “we (the creation) do not know or feel it”—from our side?

Answer: Of course, every bug, every insect and leaf—everything is directly managed by this force, this field, called the Creator.

But this is not given to us in our sensations. Nature is an objective reality given to us in sensations. Therefore, what I feel is what exists, and what I do not feel does not exist for me. I can acquire additional senses and then everything that I can feel in them will also be part of nature that manifests in relation to me.

Question: Does a Kabbalist have the ability to constantly control his perception of reality?

Answer: There are no people living on Earth who cannot do this because we are all moving toward an ever-increasing correction. And when we become included in the Creator, everything will become simpler.

Answer: Indeed, when we see the true picture of the eternal world permeated with perfection and love, we understand that, as it is written in the Psalms, “We were like in a dream.” In other words, in isolation, in disconnection from reality.

All that we perceive before this state—our entire lives today, everything that we have gone through and everything that we will still go through—is drawn by our corrupted properties. And if we do not correct them, then many difficult problems, be it wars or other disasters, lie ahead of us.

But on the other hand, we can correct what is inside of us and go through the next stages in a positive way.

In general, we “prepare” our future for ourselves—through our uncorrected or already corrected properties. They should manifest themselves against the background of the white light—absolute love and bestowal. If we do not approach it voluntarily, then we are led by a circular path of suffering.

Question from Facebook: Where did you come up with the notion that a person sees in people only his own flaws? In killers too?

Answer: Yes. In everybody and in everything we see ourselves, our reflection. Why? Because we perceive everything in the mirror of our egoism. This is how our perception is structured: we cannot see what is not in us. The picture of the world is drawn inside.

In fact, in front of me there is white Light—the perfect property of bestowal and love. And on this background, I “draw” my own properties. Therefore, whatever is projected onto the screen of my consciousness, it all comes from within. The external evil I see is my uncorrected nature.

And in the end, having corrected all the flaws in myself, I will reveal that same white Light, the original love. In this way, the Creator leads us to Himself—through a gradual realization of the illusory nature of the external world as it seems to us today. This is Kabbalistic psychology.

Question: What do dreams mean?

Answer: I heard from Rabash and see it myself from the system of governance that dreams in our world are no more than a consequence of things experienced during the day.

Sometimes, there are prophetic dreams and a person sees something in the future. I also have had such states. This happens because we disconnect from our egoism and rise to the next level where everything already exists: the past, the present and the future. We connect to a flow of information where time does not exist.

Therefore, there are people with increased sensitivity who can really predict the future. There is no need to be a Kabbalist for this.

Question: How can one see the future if everything depends on a person? Does it already exist?

Answer: It exists no matter what a person does. A person changes the future, but it is already prepared.

Question: If we are talking about the end of an action, do we mean the very last action of correction?

Answer: We mean the very last action from what must happen now, according to the plan.

Question: There even is a principle: “We were like unto them that dream.” What is this about?

Answer: When we return to the state of complete correction, we are acting as if in a dream. We cannot imagine how much the upper Light completely controls us.

“We were like unto them that dream” is a phrase from King David’s Psalms. Everything written in Psalms is absolute Kabbalah.

Baal HaSulam, The Writings of the Last Generation, “Introduction to the Writings of the Last Generation”: Man’s advantage over it is that the spirit of man ascends into the past, and looks into the past as one looks in the mirror and sees one’s flaws so as to correct them. Similarly, the mind sees what it has been through, and corrects its future conducts.

“The spirit of man ascends into the past”—to that force that has created him.

First of all, a person wants to know: “Where did I come from?” And then: “Where am I headed to?” But he cannot ask, “Where am I going to?” If he does not know his beginning, he will not know his end. That is why he looks to the past, wanting to reach the source, the Light, that has created him. Because the question “Who am I?” is a question about the source of man: “Who created me, who controls me, who decides?” And if he becomes aware of the source and studies it, then he attains his future.

“He looks into the past as one looks in the mirror and sees one’s flaws so as to correct them”—flaws that are purposely created in him by the source so that he would come to the awareness and attainment of Him: from darkness into Light—and in this manner to attain the future. And the future exists in the connection with that same source.

Question: How must I understand the statement that “There is no evil in the world” if only evil exists in the world? The cruel and vicious history of humanity, wars, and treachery are proof of this.

Answer: All the evil in the world is my evil, something I cannot balance with good. The evil exists within me! It is written, “All who condemn do so through their own defect.” (Kiddushin 70b)

The conclusion is very simple: if I want to see a perfect world, I must perfect myself. We will discover that this is so, however illogical and unrealistic it may seem. All I see around me is my reflection. So what can be done when such evil is discovered? I must change myself.

I always direct myself toward “There is none else besides Him,” which is the cause of everything that is happening to me, but I see this imaginary world between myself and the Creator, which gives me all sorts of problems. I have to imagine this world as a reflection of my inner qualities. Depending on my perception of reality, I see my internal qualities outside of me, all around me.

If I see you in front of me, it means you exist inside me as a particular desire with certain qualities. As I correct my external relation to you, I seemingly return you inside me. You are now included in me and I no longer see you on the outside.

In our world, first an embryo develops inside his mother, then is born and gradually grows into an adult. Here the reverse process occurs, returning to the source inward. So we study the inner Torah and penetrate into it.

The whole world that I see from the outside, I need to try to find inside me as my inner qualities. If I see various events in this world, good or bad, then I should try to imagine them inside of me and try to correct the way I relate to them, to change my desire to bestowal. If my desire is aimed at bestowal, then I become similar to the Creator and unite with the Creator into one whole. This is called adhesion.

It is desirable to imagine that the external reality is seen outside of us only due to our inner uncorrected states. But in fact, this reality must be internal. That is why we study the internal part of the Torah, learn that everything is within us and the correction takes place inside a person.

Kabbalah gives us a practical method through which one can correct himself and thus change the world around us, because the world is our projection. This is not philosophy, but the truth. The philosopher is the one who denies it.

What is the point of all our efforts to correct the world? The name “world reformers” is a derogatory one in Kabbalah because instead of changing themselves, they try to change the world around them. It is like children, who think that their game is the truth, and that the real baby is the ragdoll and not a living baby

Question: What is a “moment” for the Creator? After all, it is said that the wrath of the Creator lasts for a moment, yet his kindness lasts for a lifetime.

Answer: The concept of a “moment” is explained in the Book of Psalms: “For His wrath lasts but a moment; life results from His favor” (Psalms 30:6). For the Creator, a moment is the time it takes the creature to reach full unity with Him.

Question: When you talk about people connecting into a single whole, do you mean uniting in the imaginary world or in the true spiritual world?

Answer: I mean unity of desires, so it doesn’t matter.

Question: Are all pleasures in our world the result of the Light?

Answer: The Light is what a person enjoys. A person may have good desires or bad desires—Klipot (shells). This doesn’t mean much in relation to our world because all of us in this world are in a state of absolute Tuma’a (impurity). The difference is only whether a person elicits discomfort or pain in another person, or provides him with happiness and pleasure.

Question: If space doesn’t exist, then can a Kabbalist move in space instantaneously while he is in a physical body?

Answer: We cannot move anywhere in the physical body. The physical body is just a physical body. The intent of the Kabbalist is to exit the world of bodies and enter the upper world, the world of forces.

Question: I am very afraid of death. What is going to happen next?

Answer: I promise you that there is nothing frightening about death and there is nothing to fear. All in all, this is psychological, like a little child who is afraid of an injection. There is no death. Don’t worry.

Question: Is it possible to resolve external wars by peaceful means through internal correction?

Answer: Certainly! Without a doubt! That is the purpose of Kabbalah.

Question: What is the origin of the creature, and what is his correct perception?

Answer: The origin of the creature is the Light. His correct perception is in constructing a reflection of the Light within the creature.

Question: Are all of us found in the imagination of the Creator, like characters in the imagination of filmmakers?

Answer: We cannot say in what form we are found in the imagination of the Creator; this is an intangible and incomprehensible state.

Answer: An auxiliary force called an “angel” exists that “takes you by the hand” and leads you to your teacher. There isn’t anything else.

Question: When did you acquire a Masach (screen)? Do you now control your desires?

Answer: I cannot answer this question. Don’t be envious. Everyone has his own time, place, efforts, and way, but the method is identical.

Question: What is the image of the Creator if He has no image?

Answer: The person creates an image of the Creator.

Question: Am I always a slave, dependent either on a Masach, a desire, or the Creator?

Answer: When a person begins to work on his desires, he is considered to be free.

Question: People rely on particular models of the world that they have formulated in their minds when making decisions. All models, to some degree, are false because they reflect only limited properties of reality.

It would be interesting to know in what way a model of the world is false and in what way it may be true, maybe by assigning percentages to each aspect. What does truth and falsehood mean with respect to nature, or rather with respect to the model of nature that we build to reflect it?

Answer: Kabbalah examines two systems: the upper (spiritual) and the lower (material).

In the upper system we are all integrally interconnected, which is why there cannot be any independent states. It is an ideal level, called the world of Ein Sof (infinity), perfection, in which all objects of our world exist on the spiritual level. Everything experiences its complete interdependence and destiny, comprehends it, and therefore each part is able to interact correctly with all the others. This is an ideal system described in Kabbalah where all parts are inherently and clearly interconnected.

The wisdom of Kabbalah explains that we are approaching this ideal system by way of our material evolution. This is exactly what is waiting for us in the future. We may choose to accelerate the process to its revelation within our experience and understanding. Or we may allow the natural process to teach it to us through the blows of destiny, which is what we see happening today. That is how humanity advances.

Our world exists below this complete and ideal upper system because it came into existence as a result of a gradual degradation of this system and its descent along the 125 levels to the lowest level—the one where we live today.

In this world we feel ourselves completely disconnected from each other and if something does connect us, it is only our egoism. All our experiences are geared only toward using everything and everyone according to our personal interests.

Naturally, that which we call “truth” is only that which exists on a higher level. And that which exists on our level is absolute falsehood because the only thing that motivates us today is the personal egoism of each creature, egoism that blinds us, distances us from each other, and drives us to use each other as much as possible.

That is truth and falsehood from the perspective of Kabbalah.

There is no truth in our world. It can exist only in those individuals who attain the complete mutual interdependence of nature, in other words, the upper system, which they are trying to discover within themselves. Then they relate to all those around them with completely different intentions: friendship, love, cooperation, and unity.

This principle was initially described in the Torah, even though, unfortunately, no one really takes it seriously. In this lies the difference between truth and falsehood. Truth and falsehood are not the subjective proclamations of an individual who thinks something is true and something is false.

When a completely coherent, unified system of all forms of creation—inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human levels of nature—exist in a harmonious interconnected state, it is called truth. And a state that is a complete opposite to this is falsehood. And between them there is a multitude of possible levels—some with a little more truth, some with a little more falsehood.
