“I Do Not Interfere in Your Poverty, and You Do Not Interfere in My Wealth”

631.1Question: The principle that existed in Sodom was: “What is mine is mine, what is yours is yours; I do not help you, and you do not help me.” Is there any logic in this?

Answer: The logic is absolute! It has many adherents. Let’s assume we receive everything from the Creator. If the Creator gave to you, but did not give to me, then even if I die, I must receive from the Creator whatever He chooses to give to me.

Question: The Creator gives wealth to one person, to another He gave poverty, and so it should be? I do not interfere in your poverty, and you do not interfere in my wealth?

Answer: Yes.

Comment: There is logic in this.

Answer:

Question: So where is the flaw?

Answer: The flaw is that people do not accept this in the proper way. That is, they do not accept the absolute rule of the Creator, and it therefore collapses.

We must rise above this strictness of the Creator. It can not only be “what is yours is yours and what is mine is mine.” This is given to us from above, and we must introduce a correction into it so that everything belongs to us.

What the Creator gave us: “what is yours is yours and what is mine is mine” exists at the outset and we retain it internally, yet we cover it from above with love.

Question: Is this what we call “ours”? That is, we build bridges from one to another?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Is this the main work? And then it endures, it will not be overturned?

Answer: And then we become, as it were, partners with the Creator. He created evil, and we build bridges of love over this evil.

Question: And the evil that He created, is that “what is mine is mine, what is yours is yours”? Is this what you call evil?

Answer: Of course. It is egoism.

Question: How does this differ from the fact that during the revolution they also said: “This is ours.” What was missing there? We say that “what is mine is mine, what is yours is yours” must turn into “ours.”

Answer: There was no such ideal—“ours.” If we must do everything, then everything is in our hands. Then it means there is no Creator; this follows by definition.

I think that nothing good will come out of all these theories. I am sure that the world will still come to the realization that these questions must be solved by the Kabbalistic method. That is, to place the Creator—the single, integral One—at the head of the entire process of the development of humanity and cling to Him, and do everything only for the sake of one single proposition, one phrase: “Brotherhood!”

Question: And will people want to cling to that? Is that what they will not want to lose?

Answer: If they choose to let go of it, they will plunge themselves into such a bitter reckoning that there will soon be no one with whom to clarify.

Has Humanity Being Become Happier?

626Question: Software engineer Steve Wozniak, who together with Steve Jobs created the Apple empire, when answering the question, “Has a human being become happier after the invention of the personal computer?” said: “This is a very complex question. At one time I thought that if we made people’s lives easier, it would bring them happiness. They would work less. However, they began to work even more. Now a family must be supported by two working people, not one. I think that if we compare ourselves with primitive people by the level of happiness, it will be approximately the same.

At one time Steve Jobs and I dreamed of creating a gadget that would make blind people able to see. But now when I enter the subway and see that everyone is sitting with their faces buried in their phones, I understand that we have made all sighted people blind.”

Do you agree that we are a blind humanity?

Answer: We still have to realize that all innovations in electronics are intended only to limit us in sensations, in the perception of the world, in the sensation of life.

I look at a small screen that fits into the palm of my hand, and for me nothing else exists. Through it I supposedly connect with the world. But whom do I actually connect with? With some office, some intermediary that “pushes” everything it wishes onto me. A person has not become free, but more dependent. We are becoming bigger and bigger slaves.

Moreover, with the help of electronics and everything else, many normal professions have disappeared. A profession is not only something that gives people the opportunity to earn money. The most important thing in a profession is that a person feels that they are suitable for coexistence with others. A profession is a method of communication between people. I am a tailor, you are a shoemaker, a doctor, a lawyer, and so on.

It does not matter who or how, but we communicate; we need one another.

And if we will not need one another and will only stare into mobile phones, then it is the same as giving an injection or a pill. People will fall asleep, and all kinds of movies will be spun in their heads, or they will be removed from life altogether.

Question: What scenario is laid down by the upper force?

Answer: This scenario is very simple; it is called “recognition of evil.”

We will be obliged to recognize the evil of our egoistic development and to understand that it leads us into a dead end, and that we must get rid of it, break out of it in a leap, rush away from it anywhere, headlong. I hope that someday we will do this.

For now we are trying to explain this to people. But how much they listen, that is a question. Still, here and there the first shots are already beginning to break through.

Question: That is, will we advance further and further in technologies in order to understand that they will lead us nowhere?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Is that why they are developing?

Answer: No, development must be internal. External development is not necessary at all.

But if we do not develop internally, then external electronic development reveals emptiness, and nevertheless brings us back to the beginning.

Write It Down and Burn It

294.4Question: You gave someone a hand, helped an elderly woman get off the bus; in your opinion, these are not good deeds?

Answer: And you live with the feeling that you are accumulating good deeds for the future.

Question: Still, these are good deeds, are they not?

Answer: No, you do this only for yourself. Remove your personal benefit from it, and you will disregard it all and do nothing.

Question: Then how should I live? By what should I measure my steps?

Answer: If you do not overcome your egoism and do not perform actions against it, then you will not perform a good deed. It will be sold in advance.

Question: Does it mean that I am bribed all the time?

Answer: Yes. If a person imagines that he is performing the very best deeds from which he will later receive some benefit, then it is all a failure in advance.

Question: Then with what intention should I act?

Answer: Expect absolutely nothing in return.

Question: That I will receive nothing for it, no benefit?

Answer: No benefit at all. There will be benefits for the world and for people, but nothing for me. As if no one knows about it, and no one will ever know.

Comment: That is, my name is nowhere; it is not carved in stone, nor mentioned in captions. It is nowhere.

My Response: No.

Question: So, I did something, and that is all?

Answer: Yes.

Comment: Now people in the arts (and not only in the arts) will collapse when they hear this. Do you understand? The entire copyright system is built on “this is my music, this is my creation; if you use it, you must pay,” and so on. The whole world is built on this! And we are going against the world.

My Response: Yes. You may write it down in a notebook only for yourself and then burn it. But even in such actions, when a person thinks about what he will gain from it, as if saving up for a rainy day, it is still good if he acts this way.

In fact, it does not give him any real benefit, but it is still good. There will be less evil in the world because of it. And good deeds will begin from a higher threshold, from a higher degree.

Comment: And these deeds, when a person truly says to himself, “Did I do a good deed? No matter whether I will get to heaven because of it or not, I simply do a good deed”.

My Response: He raises himself to a higher level, and from there he must begin to work.

Question: You know, we have now saved the world. Because the world looked at this and said: “This is impossible to achieve—faith above reason.” But you have now added such a step: do these deeds anyway. They will not yet be good deeds, but will they be a step toward good deeds?

Answer: Yes. And then a person must get used to performing such actions not for himself, but for the world. And here his soul begins to reveal itself to the world.

Question: What is this space called “the soul”? You said “reveals itself.” What kind of space is that?

Answer: It is an absolutely empty space that a person must fill with his desire.

Question: Toward the world? From himself? And nothing for himself?

Answer: Nothing.

Question: Is this the degree to which humanity is heading?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And can it reach it?

Answer: Of course.

When Will the War End?

79.01Question: Is it really possible that there are wars in spirituality too? I always thought that there was only love there.

Answer: From the beginning of the worlds to the very end, the entire reality, except for the single Creator, the one upper force of love, is built on the struggle of opposites, that is, on war. The Creator is attained by us through the attainment of love as the absolute annulment of hatred, war, and opposition, that is, in the complete annulment of each one before the others. In this way we form the image of the Creator within us. We create Him. As it is said: “You have made Me.”

Question: Are you talking about the war within each person? Is this the spiritual war?

Answer: Yes, the external war exists only on the animate level.

Question: You once said that external wars occur because we haven’t waged our internal wars properly, and therefore the external wars appear. Can you explain this a little more? Does it mean that I did not see my war to its end?

Answer: I should have fought. I should have resisted. I should have stood and led the forces of light against the forces of darkness within me. And thus I should have seen how I was moving the world toward a state of connection, closeness, and love among all its opposite parts. And thus I bring the state of war to the state of true peace.

Peace is Shalom, from Shlemut, complete wholeness, full unification (Hashlama). Somehow I did not complete this work somewhere, and therefore I allowed it to manifest even in the lowest form in this physical world.

Question: So now, in order to stop this external war, must I return again to my internal wars?

Answer: I must do it, and everyone must do it because the external war exists only in order to push us toward internal connection.

Question: So resolving the war by external forces, when someone wins and someone loses, is not a real solution?

Answer: Of course not.

Question: Then will there be another war?

Answer: Of course! Nothing is solved this way. It is only a step along the road, along the path, about how to continue the next page of the war.

Question: Will the next page of the war come one way or another? And maybe it will be even more terrible?

Answer: Of course, more terrible. The most important thing is that at the beginning of a conflict, we quickly determine what it is about and extinguish it by uniting and complementing the conflicting sides in such a way that they reveal the Creator.

Question: Suppose there are two conflicting sides that hate each other. How can they suddenly stop at the beginning of the conflict?

Answer: By rising above themselves, by rising above one another, and by imagining what the world should be like if they unite together so much that they no longer distinguish between each other, but only sense the connection between them.

How Can We Retreat from the Brink?

961.1Comment: You say that it is impossible to give up self-gratification, impossible to love your neighbor, and impossible to bestow to another. Impossible!

My Response: Yes.

Question: If a person reaches such a sharp, bitter realization inside himself is this good?

Answer: This is the recognition of evil, of one’s nature! And from there you must still say that I need to rise above it, above this nature. What do I need to do for this? Where can I find such a remedy?

People haven’t found it yet. They have already stopped hoping, on one hand. But on the other hand, they are gradually understanding more and more that if such a remedy does not exist, then there is no happiness, nothing good, no future either.

Comment: So here we have a dilemma. I understand that one cannot live like this, that I am like this, my nature is like this, and at the same time I understand that I cannot move forward.

My Response: I can’t.

Question: I’ve reach this point that there is no going back and no moving forward. What should one do in this case?

Answer: When we reach such a state, we begin to understand that if nature has set this task for us, then obviously nature also has a solution.

Question: That is logical. So the solution is not around me, not in my friends, not anywhere here, but in nature itself. And thus, I slowly begin to communicate with nature?

Answer: Yes. This is communication with nature.

Question: So, I say: “The solution is inside you. Give me this solution.”

Answer: Yes. It must reach the point where a person is truly compelled to turn to nature in such a way.

Question: And at what moment will nature give answers and respond?

Answer: When a person is in complete despair, when he truly needs only this.

Question: If we generalize all this, are we now being led exactly to this state? We cannot bypass it, cannot avoid it?

Answer: In no way.

Question: So you have a clear sense that we are being led precisely to this?

Answer: Yes. We only need to understand and feel that the inner inversion is based at this point. It is necessary; otherwise you will not transition into another mode of existence.

Question: And tell me, if a person hears you, what are his actions at that moment? Even if he begins to mechanically communicate with nature, with the Creator.

Answer: Only to strengthen himself in this paradigm.

Men and Women: Differences in Governance

629.3Comment: They say that men change the world and women improve it.

My Response: There is something in that; I agree. A woman organizes the world. She tends to connect it together, to make it more convenient, more comfortable, just like she wishes to arrange an apartment. This is how she sees the world.

A man, no. He breaks forward. He needs changes in the world, leaps, perhaps even rather extreme “surgical methods.”

Women generally do not go for that, and therefore they are more suited for governing the world.

In general, governance should be in a pair. We know that in every family the wife quietly commands, and the husband carries out. And if he does not, then it is not a family. Usually, it is always this way. If a man understands this, it is good. It is said in the Torah to Abraham: “Do as Sarah tells you.” This is correct. I think this is how one should educate.

Comment: Forty years ago, the company Xerox conducted large-scale research in its sales department about who sells better. It turned out that women are better salespeople than men. Since then, management’s attitude toward women has become more favorable.

In a study involving about 3,000 managers, several characteristic qualities distinguishing men and women were identified: their differences, advantages, and disadvantages.

The first is power and leadership as strengths. Men are interested in official recognition of their authority. They push forward forcefully and therefore often reach greater career heights and salary levels compared to women.

Women are more focused on internal processes. It is important to them that the work be structured as they envisioned, and it does not matter who formally stands at the helm.

The downside: men, striving to satisfy personal ambitions, are less loyal to the company.

Women may not desire power less than men, but they are often inclined to indecision in the struggle for the leadership chair.

My Response: This is natural. A woman by her nature is not inclined to conflict; she is inclined toward peace, ready to concede in order to preserve the environment, the company where she works, her place, and so on. A man may destroy everything in order to achieve his authority. For a woman this may be completely foreign. Naturally, women are ready for all kinds of sacrifices, while men are not.

In general, in most cases women are preferable. Perhaps the only area where this is less significant is the army, and even there not in planning. In developing military plans, I would involve women as well. Their absence there seems to me necessary to address.

Ultimately, I do not see where a man has an advantage over a woman except in precise implementation.

Comment: The second factor is locus of control depending on gender.

Researchers concluded that as men age, they increasingly rely on their own experience and skills. Men have an internal locus of control and therefore often higher self-esteem than women, who give greater importance to image and others’ opinions.

For example, when problems arise in a school, a female principal gathers teachers and parents to discuss and find a solution together.

My Response: Yes. Men tend to use a more forceful method.

The downside: relying on oneself makes a man less flexible and can lead to excessive self-confidence.

A woman may be more vulnerable due to an external locus of control. Business often demands rigidity, and therefore women in high positions sometimes adopt masculine qualities and constantly balance between personal life and professional duties.

Answer: The main thing is the collective. If the collective understands that, in principle, it is better off with a woman leader than with a man, then the whole collective benefits. Where is the question for this answer?

Question: The next factor is internal corporate processes. A businessman creates a team. Men are more result-oriented. They value employees who are more effective and produce better results.

A woman boss creates a family. She senses the mood in the collective, concentrates on overall comfort. Women tend to have more developed emotional intelligence for creating such an atmosphere.

The downside is that a man may reduce efficiency due to a weak individual approach to each member. A woman may become overly concerned with what is happening in the collective. How can this be balanced?

Answer: We do not manage to do this even in family relations, much less in today’s mixed collectives.

This requires a truly wise collective, where everyone understands the nature of men and women. By discussing everything together, they rise above their egoism.

Here there are no personal gender relations in the usual sense. They reason as clear psychologists: how they can connect in the middle line, not feminine and not masculine, but precisely in the middle. And the middle line is the most effective, correct, and possible combination of these two lines.

This is very difficult. One must constantly work on it. It cannot be done once and for all. Therefore, within a collective there should be such a person, or perhaps even a pair, who would constantly support the mutual complementarity of the inner aspirations, decisions, and visions of the male and female parts. Otherwise, the collective will not be truly effective.

Comment: The next factor is strategy for earning money.

A male leader is naturally less patient and wants quick profit “here and now.” Therefore, he is ready to take risks, to use creative approaches that push business forward.

A female leader often makes decisions more thoughtfully and conservatively. She thinks more long-term and strategically.

The downside: men, due to their need to take risks, are inclined to make rash decisions and incur serious financial losses.

My Response: But they enjoy risk. For them, risk is itself a kind of reward: “I may lose, but I took the risk! I was in it!”

A woman by nature must act thoughtfully. She must care; stability is primary in her—maintaining stability now and in the future. A man does not have this in the same way. For him, the main thing is to leap forward.

Both movements are absolutely correct; only their mutual complementarity is problematic for our society.

Comment: The fifth factor is communication style.

Men are excellent orators who inspire the masses. A woman wins in close-range communication. Women are naturally better at reading nonverbal behavior, possess strong listening skills, and are more sensitive to their own experiences.

The downside: men often do not pay attention to details and may lose negotiations over obvious matters. Women, with an external locus of control, spend considerable energy analyzing how others perceive them.

My Response: A man does not see what is near. He does not read faces or subtle actions—the things a woman notices, absorbs, and orients herself by. A man does not see them.

In everyday life, this is an astonishing ability of women, to sense the surroundings. Like an animal going out to hunt and sensing everything around it with its whole body, so is a woman. A man is not like that. He is goal-oriented; his main thing is to reach a specific point, he sees nothing else.

We are created differently; nothing can be done about that. A person and his qualities cannot be remade. We correct egoism, help a person rise above his egoistic nature, but not above his inherent qualities. A man remains a man, a woman a woman. We must only understand how to combine them correctly.

Therefore, we must choose the proper combination of our actions.

Question: What should leaders, men and women, take into account in their work?

Answer: A proper leader must assemble a collective of several men and women, ike a board of directors, who will correctly understand the collective itself, through discussion properly understand its tasks, correctly understand their own nature, and determine how to combine it in such a way as to develop the middle line, which optimally accounts for both approaches and yields the best result.

And still, this result will naturally be neither feminine nor masculine, but intermediate. It will always be some kind of compromise.

We must learn to live precisely in the middle line.

What Comes Next?

168I remember asking myself this question: “And what comes next?” Well, next you go to school, then to college, and so on. Since I did not have an answer to this question, I did not really want to study, and in general, I did not want anything. I was quite often in a state of apathy.

Question: Because there was no answer? Did the answer arise from this “I” that demanded growth?

Answer: Of course. What do I live for, why? It was a terrible feeling that everything was meaningless and useless, yet you were forced to do it.

Question: So, in fact, our life is the formation of this “I” within a person?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Then the question is: does this “I” have a connection with that upper force you are always talking about?

Answer: Yes. It is in the question: “For what purpose?” This question is transmitted to everyone, but in certain doses. The one in whom this question arises truly seriously can evidently develop it and receive answers.

Question: If we try to think and fantasize a little, are there “threads” from above leading down to a person’s “I”?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And how can we determine when a certain “I” will play out, and when another “I” will jump out?

Answer: For that, one must reveal one’s soul, that is, one’s entire connection with the higher degree. Then you will know why you are being pulled in exactly this way and not another.

Question: And precisely at this time?

Answer: In everything.

Question: Is it programmed which “I” will jump out, and which one will be slightly dulled?

Answer: Absolutely everything is programmed. The beginning of creation, the end of creation, and its intermediate states, practically all are known in advance. Only one thing is unknown: how a person, in realizing their freedom of will, will realize their personal participation in all of this.

This realization is not determined in advance, it is given to a person.

Question: So does actually everything not depend on a person? Does something still depend on them?

Answer: Yes.

Be Silent so the Heart Can Speak

414Question: You often say that a conversation can happen in silence, from heart to heart. Can you explain what it means to “speak with the heart”?

Answer: Through feelings. When you want to convey your feelings to someone, but it is very difficult to find the right words, then the best thing is if you remain silent.

And neither person feels uncomfortable. You simply stay silent. And in this way, gradually, little by little, you begin to understand one another without words. This is what is called “a conversation between hearts.”

Question: You said that you often sat in silence with your teacher. Did you ever feel that you needed to say something?

Answer: No, absolutely not. You just sit and think beside him, and he does the same.

Question: And he did not prompt you to say something? Nothing like that?

Answer: No, there was no need. Nothing was needed. These are such feelings, such moments, when everything is understood. And an inner connection takes place, a flow of feelings from one to the other and back again, without words.

284.01Imagine that you are a parent—perhaps strict, perhaps kind, it doesn’t matter which, but loving—just such a parent relates to their children so should you treat others.

Question: And at the moment when I read this each day and understand that I cannot do it, is that the prayer: “I can’t!”?

Answer: This is not yet a prayer, but a state in which you examine yourself and see how much you need to be corrected. And then you already have some sort of claims or requests for correction. And you lay them out.

You judge yourself; you come and demand that the Creator correct you because you cannot correct yourself. The only one who can is Him. But only in accordance with your demands, requests, and supplications. So hurry!

Question: You began with the instruction to love everyone.

Where There Is No Death

537Question: You said that a person must understand this system we exist in. Then everything start to fall into place for him?

Answer: Yes, of course.

Question: We can say that the world is interconnected, but we cannot really picture this. Is it actually like that?

Answer: It is like that, yes.

Comment: And these connections are, as you said, benevolent.

My Response: These connections are benevolent, and they do not end in this world. They continue in the next one as well. Therefore, we must also understand where we are, and how we are included in one another, how this kind of interplay happens between us, so that we have no way out. We have to be in a good state toward each other all the time.

Question: Meaning, I leave and return, leave and return, and everything is within this system?

Answer: Yes, everything is within this system. This is what is meant by saying that there is no death, so to speak, and everything is infinite.

Comment: That is beautiful! How can a person grasp this?

My Response: There is no need to, it is very difficult.

Question: But will he come to this understanding?

Answer: Yes, we must be prepared for this, but on the other hand, we must be ready for this and understand that it will be better for us this way. We must not look at it as a tremendous obligation.
