Feeling Betrayed

294.4Question: When I feel a terrible betrayal, just terrible, when I can barely stand it, am burning up, you say, at this moment or a little later when you have burned out a little, you need to focus everything on where it came from and not on the one who betrayed me?

Answer: On the Creator! What does some small person have to do with it?! He is a puppet, and the puppeteer is the Creator.

Question: So should I start talking and working with the Creator? And let go of this man who allegedly betrayed me. He did not.

Answer: You cannot demand anything from him! He is a puppet! That is all. And you feel calm. You do not see traitors or betrayers around you, nothing and no one. You see puppets. And the Creator above pulls their strings, that is it.

Question: You almost always say that we hate someone, rather than start to change ourselves and our attitude toward the Creator. Is that it?! Is this all our work?!

Answer: This is all. But this is the hardest part.

Comment: So if I can control myself in such a way that I direct all my efforts to work for Him, and only with Him, then everything will begin.

My Response: Then you need to completely redefine, what the truth, lies, devotion, and betrayal are.

Question: All concepts disappear. You have just practically eliminated the concept of “betrayal.” So, it does not exist on the part of someone else, I cannot blame him?

Answer: No. There is no love, no hate, no devotion, no loyalty.

Question: Should I aim the vector at myself, and that is it?

Answer: Yes, but at least it would be beautiful, true, and pure!

Question: Will it be a clear experiment then?

Answer: Yes.

Question: But then I hate Him! I say it with caution.

Answer: Do not worry, He does not hear it.

Comment: I see. Like Guberman’s quote: “He is blind, he does not see your monkey business.” So it is. When I hate a traitor, you say: “The Creator is doing this, setting me up.” Then my first feeling is: “I hate the Creator!” Is that true?

My Response: Of course. Naturally! There is no doubt about it! If you hate anyone at all, it is the Creator. Your relationship is really always with Him!

Question: How does my hatred of the Creator change?

Answer: We do everything only with the Creator. We are connected only to Him. And everything that seems like we are in good or evil relations between us is a pure lie! The Creator sets up such cases, novels, stories, and mysteries that no one could have imagined.

Question: Why is He doing this to us?

Answer: So we would set this whole world aside and deal with Him alone. But in order to do so, we must be pure: either absolute egoists or absolute altruists. He does not tolerate anything else. All else is waste, dirt. Therefore, we need to tune in only to the Creator and deal only with Him.

Question: How does this state of my complaints, hatred, and prayer to the Creator: “Leave me alone!” turn into a different state—love?

Answer: It turns into a prayer, that I want to see His actions behind everything that surrounds me, both in myself and around me. That there is none else besides Him!

Question: Is this the main prayer?

Answer: Yes, for Him to reveal it to me.

Question: Is this the fundamental change within a person? And it changes everything, the whole world?

Answer: It changes everything. It turns everything upside down! It messes with my head! Because I always thought I was connected to something else, dependent on someone else, doing something else. In fact, there is no one and nothing!

Does the Evil Eye Exist or Not?

245.02Question: Does the evil eye exist or not? What do you think?

Answer: It does. But it is not the kind of evil eye where I simply look at you like this.

By our desires, we are all connected together into one common, enormous desire that the Creator created. And therefore, by our desires we can influence one another each from his own level from the root of his soul. Thus, when I think badly of others, I harm myself and I harm them. I cause harm because I act through my desire.

Question: Does this happen involuntarily?

Answer: Yes, of course.

Comment: I have no free choice.

My Response: People do not know this. But why is our world so bad? Because people think about one another in this way!

Question: Because they as if cast the evil eye on another?

Answer: Of course! Does anyone wish good to another?

Comment: That is, of course, a question.

My Response: It is not a question at all!

Question: No one wishes good to another at all?

Answer: Of course not! And it turns out that our entire world lives only on the evil eye, on rejection, on people repelling one another.

Question: Is this what you call our world, the one in which we live?

Answer: Yes. The eye is the highest organ: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.

Question: The five senses, and sight is the highest of them?

Answer: The highest. And therefore, we must be concerned with looking correctly at one another.

Question: When you use the word “to look,” what do you put into it?

Answer: To relate.

Comment: What you have just stated—that our entire world is built on the evil eye—is quite a statement. It is built on the evil eye.

My Response: Where have you ever seen a normal attitude of one person toward another?

Comment: Well, not to such an extent.

My Response: It does not matter to what extent, but only in a negative direction!

Question: Is this because I exist? Because my thoughts are only about myself?

Answer: From the outset, we are not directed toward good. From the outset, we are not directed toward a correct attitude toward one another. We set this only under certain conditions—if he behaves in such-and-such a way, then I will also relate to him correctly, and so on. But initially, I have no good toward another. Why should I?

Question: What do you mean, “Why should I?”

Answer: How could it be? Why should I relate well to others? I am asking you as a normal person in this world. Such a thing cannot exist!

Comment: But inwardly, I very much do not want to agree with you that all my thoughts are only to cause harm.

My Response: You are a Komsomol volunteer from the 1920s!

Comment: Yes, but still, one wants to believe that a person at least makes an effort.

My Response: A person is made in evil! A person is evil! There is no getting away from this. Only education can raise him out of this egoistic, envious swamp—pull him out by the ears, wash him, dry him well, hang him by the ears in the sun so that it thoroughly evaporates him. And only after that can one begin to fill him with something good.

Question: Then this entire science of correction, which is called Kabbalah, is it about how to transform these evil thoughts, this evil gaze on which our world exists, into a good gaze?

Answer: Yes.

Comment: That is, how to raise a person from this world into a world of a good gaze, goodness, and so on.

My Response: Yes. That will already be the spiritual world, the upper world, the spiritual world.

214Question: We still need to understand that on the earthly level, in this world, we cannot do anything ourselves with these hands or with this head. Is that right?

Answer: We cannot.

Comment: And all our attempts now to make society better, to make the world better…

My Response: Again, the same old games.

Comment: The same games that will lead nowhere. And humanity still keeps looking for some earthly leader who will…

Answer: It simply does not know how to use the forces of nature! That is what Kabbalah gives us, what Kabbalah explains to us. Kabbalah tells us how to reach this positive force of nature, how to constantly draw it upon ourselves and thereby change the world.

What does “world” mean? It is what I see and feel around me either with my bad eye or with my good eye—that is what I call the world.

So, how do I change my evil attitude toward the world to a good one? This is the entire science of Kabbalah, the science of receiving, of correctly perceiving the place where you are—this world.

Evil Rules the World

294.2Evil rules the world. And God forbid, but we can still see it all.

Question: And no prohibitions will help? No agreements will help? Nothing will help whatsoever?

Answer: Nothing

Question: Is the elimination of nuclear weapons also impossible?

Answer: It is impossible. How can you eliminate them? Do you know who has them in the world today?

Question: Meaning, the world is loaded with weapons of mass destruction?

Answer: Of course.

Question: Will it be brimming even more?

Answer: No one is holding us back. Who can hold us back? You cannot restrain egoism, and this is what you get in return. Here, we need a serious hope in the upper force that would gradually sober us up.

Question: What does it have to tell us?

Answer: That there is no other way but to simply lay down our arms and begin to engage in positive connections between us, in the entirely new possibilities that are opening up for humanity.

We can’t continue down the old paths, not with thought, not with the mind, not with feelings, not with anything! Everything that has been in the past was built on absolute egoism. We must not use it any longer.

Comment: There is only one thing left—to see the ego as an enemy, and to see another person as a friend.

Answer: Very beautiful.

232.031Comment: Our correspondents write to us that Laitman is always taking our world apart, leaving not a single stone of it standing.

My Response: But that is how it really is. What does it mean that I am taking it apart? What do I have to do with it? Our world is created entirely in evil, and only in evil, because a person relates everything only to himself: whether it is good for me or bad for me, consciously or subconsciously, even unconsciously.

Question: Then what is the process of education? If I am like this and cannot change, what is the process of education that you keep talking about?

Answer: It is so that you will change, so that you will draw the positive force of nature, called the Creator, to yourself, and it will begin to correct your negative force.

Question: So, we always say that for this we must understand that there is only a negative force inside me?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And actually come to hate it?

Answer: Of course.

Question: Is this where the starting point begins? Then I will want the good force.

Answer: Yes, that is all!

Comment: And it exists somewhere right here.

My Response: It is around us. It completely fills all of space! Only we push it away because we do not want it. We are deliberately created this way in order to rise above ourselves, to step out of ourselves toward this common force.

The Recipe for Objective Happiness

294.4Comment: When you feel so bad that you are about to give up, they say you must understand that the bad is just as valuable as the good.

My Response: Absolutely! There is nothing good or bad, it is only relative to a person. If a person slightly changes their inner tuning, he or she will see good instead of all the bad. And the opposite can also happen.

Comment: So they say there is value in the bad. Value! It turns out that the bad is my property.

My Response: Sure, there is absolutely no good without bad, and no bad without good. We must accustom ourselves to relating correctly to everything. Because beyond our perception and our division into bad and good, we must accept that the entire world is just absolute goodness!

Question: Then the question is that something bad comes, something I feel is bad, “What do I gain from it?”

Answer: You acquire an objective view of the world. You rise above your egoistic judgment and therefore consider that everything is good and that there is nothing in the world except a single force of goodness, absolute goodness!

Question: Is this such a great acquisition?

Answer: Yes, viewing the world this way is truly happiness and a great opportunity.

Question: Is this possible?

Answer: It is possible!

Rise and Shine!

249Question: One needs to train oneself to rejoice. They say that rejoicing is a habit. What do you think?

Answer: I think this is very correct.

Question: Can one train oneself to rejoice despite the fact that one is being battered from all sides?

Answer: You are being battered, so what? Some circumstances come, some forces come and batter you. And you sing. Just sing! This is the most important thing for a person. Because in truth, he does not know what is good and what is bad, or how to relate correctly to life, or how to change his life—whether what comes to him is for his benefit or to his detriment.

Therefore he must accept all of this as good and relate to everything that happens as to necessary good. And so, how can he relate to it? Sing!

Question: Just like that?

Answer: The answer is a simple yes.

Question: Whatever comes, right? Whatever is inside you, like “There is only a moment between the past and the future”?

Answer: No, that’s not it! Better: “Rise and shine! Rise and shine! Try it at least once in your life.”

Comment: Yes. Exactly.

My Response: That is how they used to sing once.

So That the Waves Pass Over Us

233Question: How should an ordinary person who does not strive for connection with the Creator but wants to live calmly and simply on this earth relate to what brings them to prayer, to those misfortunes, to those troubles?

Answer: Naturally, a person does not want suffering or prayer or anything.

Question: And how should I relate to this? Should I run away from them, cut them off?

Answer: Of course. It is best to run away from them; that is what everyone does.

Question: Meaning, if I am not striving for anything and just want to live this life well on this earth?

Answer: In that case, “lo em ve lo s’kharam”—“no suffering and no reward.”

Question: And what is your advice to such people?

Answer: Try to live peacefully. Even lower, even quieter, even calmer. And live like that.

Question: So that the waves pass over us?

Answer: Yes. But that is fate. There are people who want this. There are people who do not agree with it. And there are people who do not agree, but after a couple of blows, they agree.

Question: So one way or another, these blows put a person in their place if they are here and want to live their life here?

Answer: It depends on the root of the soul.

Question: What is the advice for those who strive for the Creator, for connection?

Answer: For them, the most important thing is closeness to the Creator, and it does not matter what the path is, whether they receive a couple more blows along the way, or something else.

Question: So one way or another, they will and must relate to these blows as help?

Answer: Yes. If we strive to achieve connection with the Creator, then various obstacles and conditions are placed before us, and we inevitably see that we cannot fulfill these conditions in any way, only if we receive serious help from above.

Question: Meaning, if we strive for connection with the Creator, then we can be grateful for all sorts of obstacles?

Answer: Of course. The stick—yes.

Question: The stick? So, when, as you always say, “kiss the stick that beats you,” then we kiss it?

Answer: Yes.

Comment: And otherwise, we will have to…

Answer: And otherwise, we move with our egoism along such winding paths like little fish swimming.

The Creator Does Not Rely on Us

294.2The world stands on the word, on God’s word. In the beginning was the word, and the word was God’s, and God was eternity, and so on.

Question: Can you explain this?

Answer: This means that the world stands on the quality of goodness, on the quality of love. All of this comes from the upper one and not from us.

If it came from us, it would not exist for a single second. After all, we are a negative energy in the world.

The Creator holds us, and He holds the world. If this were not so, nothing would exist. And meanwhile, we are a parasite on this world.

Question: What does the Creator rely on? What does He want by holding us?

Answer: He does not rely on anything. He governs us in such a way that a person eventually grows to understand how the world should be governed and takes the place of the Creator.

How to Break Free from the Gravity of Earthly Life

707Question: From childhood, we have probably been tied to this world with a thin “string,” and we do not try to escape. Does this world suppress us?

Answer: Yes, from the very beginning.

Comment: We know that there is freedom somewhere, but we are still afraid to take that step.

My Response: To do this, we must overcome ourselves, that is, all our habits, our attitude toward the world and toward each other;  we need to annul all this somehow.

Question: And we are afraid of doing this?

Answer: Yes.

Comment: Actually, I understand why we are afraid. We have a home, we will be fed, but what is out there is unknown. That is where we are afraid to go. But you are urging us to break free somehow.

My Response: It is not me who is urging this. It is the great sages of Kabbalah who speak about it.

Question: Did they take this step?

Answer: Yes. They say that we must break free from this attraction, to rise above it. And then we will see a another world; we will see ourselves differently, and in general, all of life and the entire universe differently.

Question: How did they gain the courage to take this step?

Answer: It was given to them by nature.

Question: So it was not even their own courage?

Answer: It was not their courage.

Comment: So it is given to a person from above, and he takes the step.

My Response: It is given to certain people from above, from their inner state, from their inner essence. And everyone else can follow their advice and accumulate a certain reserve of energy within themselves that would give them the ability to break free from this attraction.

Comment: If you try to break free from this attraction, you follow the Kabbalists, do as they say, and see that it does not work again and again, for years!

My Response: It is accumulation. It is a process of accumulating the necessary energy and efforts, which will ultimately allow us to break free from Earth’s gravity.

Question: How can we avoid despair because so much time has passed?

Answer: We have no other way to leave this “post” we are tied to with a “rope.”

Question: Meaning that despite the time, despite the fact that despair has already come, you keep trying to take this step?

Answer: Of course.

Question: And still the question is how not to despair.

Answer: There is no other way.

Question: And you must come to this realization that there is no other way?

Answer: Yes, there is no other way. If you are lucky, so to speak, you will accumulate strength and break free, break the “rope” and run like a little elephant across the field of life. And if you are not lucky, you will remain on the “rope” until the next time.

Question: Is the word “lucky” not offensive?

Answer: We do not know all the laws of the world, so we put it like that.

Question: And what will help double or triple the strength?

Answer: This is what we study. It is our unity, the study of the laws of the upper world. In the end, we accumulate a certain reserve of energy in order to break out into a free orbit.

Question: So an escape as a group is definitely better than an escape alone?

Answer: Yes, much more likely.

Question: But is the escape of one person also possible?

Answer: We see this from the ancient Kabbalists and even from those not so far from us in time, like Baal HaSulam and others. They were able to break free from egoistic, earthly attraction.

Question: Why do we believe them that this is indeed so? After all, we have not yet broken free.

Answer: Because otherwise, the essence of earthly life loses any foundation whatsoever.

Question: So earthly life has meaning only if we take this step?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Is this what it exists for?

Answer: Yes. How else?

Question: So, you are saying that the meaning of life is to take this step and break away from this “rope”?

Answer: Yes.

Question: What is the space we enter when we break away?

Answer: It is a free space in which we can act according to its laws, the laws of this free space.

Question: What are they?

Answer: It is freedom. Freedom from earthly gravity, from egoism.

Question: Earthly gravity is egoism?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And when I break free, what is there?

Answer: Free actions, free life, free soaring. Truly like an elephant in the air.

Question: So now all my actions are egoistic, I am being led, and I am not free here? And there…

Answer: And there, you are free.

Question: Free. Deep inside, I do want this, don’t I?

Answer: I do not think we really want it that much.

Comment: Everyone talks about freedom and imagines it in some way.

My Response: I do not know why a person needs freedom. And he does not know either. He just wants to run away from his “rope.” Why? Perhaps because of his childish foolishness. And what is there furthe, we still do not know.

Question: But freedom is freedom from egoism. Is this real freedom?

Answer: Yes.
