The Mistake of a Chinese Millionaire

703.03Comment: Living conditions in some Chinese villages are very harsh. In some they do not even know what a toilet is. Like in old times it is just a hole, and that is it.

A young man who grew up in a village became a millionaire and decided to help his fellow villagers. He built houses with warm toilets and bathrooms for them. Something unexpected occurred. People began quarreling over who was entitled to real estate and who was not. Moreover, they started demanding bigger houses from the businessman, since their families had grown. The millionaire did not expect this and almost fell into depression.

My Response: He simply did not understand that human egoism is structured a little differently. It is such a disappointment.

Question: Can people really not suddenly calm down at some point, get a house, a warm toilet, and live like that?

Answer: No, because existence determines consciousness. You corrected their living and thereby changed their consciousness. Their consciousness became a thousand egoistic levels greater, and that is it—people can no longer cope with it, and now they will gnaw at each other, and kill each other.

Question: So the millionaire let the devil out of the box?

Answer: Yes. People will now go to court: this one’s toilet is warmer, that one’s bathtub is bigger, and so on.

Question: So they lived calmly in harsh conditions and they lived their lives that way?

Answer: You cannot even imagine how harsh those conditions are! Even in Beijing itself I saw horrible little rooms! A person sleeps on a bed that is directly on the ground. And it is cold there in winter. In continental China, the cold is like in Siberia. In the room there is a small TV set, a bed on the floor, and a little bag with something, maybe vegetables. And that is everything he has.

Question: So the conclusion is that one should not change the conditions that are familiar to a person?

Answer: Under no circumstances! Conditions must be changed very carefully, only to the extent of the population’s development and only to the extent of a correct ideology.

Question: So such a leap should not be made?

Answer: It must not. According to Kabbalah, progress must go hand in hand with education, with inner consciousness. Otherwise, nothing good will come of it. In the end, they will invent atomic bombs. So what if everyone has bread? They will feel even more unhappy.

Question: How can a person be prepared for this transition so that he receives a bathroom, a warm toilet, and good conditions?

Answer: Why does he need this? In order to start looking askance at his neighbor? If he felt his existence as normal and accepted life as it was, why would he need more? And now his wife demands a wardrobe! The closet is bursting with clothes, but she needs more; so now you need to buy a second closet.

Question: So the story of the goldfish is always relevant?

Answer: Absolutely. Only the development of a person’s should determine one’s material status.

Question: Get us out of this impasse. How can a person live well and happily? What is needed for this? You said that progress is not needed for a person to be happy.

Answer: Not at all. Humanity has been given more or less normal conditions, and in 100 years the world’s population has increased from two billion at the beginning of the 20th century to eight billion at the beginning of the 21st century. And what will happen next? Although they say that now this is already beginning to decline. But why is it decreasing? Because people do not want to reproduce further; they think only about themselves: “I would rather create such conditions that I will be cared for, I will be buried, and everything will end with me; ‘Let there be a flood, I don’t need children.’”

Comment: People also justify this by saying that they do not want to give birth to children in this terrible world full of suffering.

My Response: They are not thinking about children! They are thinking about themselves. Why should I invest in children? In the past I had to do this because later the children would support me, take care of me, and I would be happy to see my grandchildren. And now this is gone. Egoism has grown. It does not need these grandchildren, it needs nothing. Until the last day of my life, I will be fine, and then they will bury me. I will pay now so that later I will be buried, and everything will be fine—that is it. Hospitals and funeral houses, that is all.

Question: Still progress exists. How can a person be happy today?

Answer: This progress is not good. It confuses a person, pushes him into some, forgive me, warm toilet, and the person exists in this warm toilet his entire life. He thinks this is a blessing. And besides this, he has nothing more. Nothing!

Question: Let us get back to the Chinese millionaire. How can things be done so that people feel good? Suppose he had such an intention. What should he have done? And in general, what should be done so that people feel good?

Answer: I would advise him to open schools. It is a village of, probably, twenty to thirty thousand people, no less. Give children the opportunity to study. “They have finished their school education? Yes. And now, I will build a university next to the school.”

Question: What should a child understand and feel in school?

Answer: He should learn to be an integral element in the world. That is, he should know nature, the world, how it turns, and how he should turn together with it in order to be an integral element connected with nature, without violating its harmony. This is what he should be taught in school, and then at the university as well. This is a long process.

Question: Is this the main thing, in your opinion?

Answer: Yes, because it is necessary to change a man.

Comment: So I change not the world, but, on the contrary, myself.

My Response: It is precisely education in the right environment that changes a person. And then we will see a completely different generation of, for example, of Chinese people.

Question: And what about the world? How can good be brought to the world?

Answer: In the same way, there is nothing else. Only education, and only to the extent that they are willing to accept it.

Question: Education toward the same integral person?

Answer: Of course. Absolutely!

Question: So that a person feels his or her connection with nature?

Answer: Yes, a person should feel it consciously, and understand that he must consciously move toward this. And this must be obligatorily instilled from early childhood.

Question: If, for example, we direct humanity onto such a path—integrality, mutual connection, understanding that it exists within nature—can progress then be built on this basis?

Answer: What is this progress?! When spaceships plow the expanses of the universe? What for?! All progress will be in relationships between people and in penetrating into the depths of integral nature. There a person will find everything. He does not need to leave his village. He soars in the universe! He understands and feels what is happening around him. Why should he leave the village to go somewhere to a neighboring city?

Question: Does a person feel that he is truly happy then?

Answer: Of course! He understands where he exists, what he lives for, who created him, for what purpose, and how he fulfilled this purpose, how with its help he revealed the universe for himself. He feels it in a complete way. He has no problems at all, not even the transition from life to death. He feels himself eternal, perfect—like that what he attains. What could be better? And this is instead of becoming a modern city-dwelling Chinese person! You must provide a person with inner comfort! You will not be able to provide him with external comfort anyway!

Question: Is this the main progress—to provide inner comfort to a person?

Answer: Yes. Because in external comfort everyone will only look at one another.

Inner comfort is when everyone achieves balance with himself, with nature, and with the Creator. Then nothing is frightening to him. This is what every person wants. And by providing someone with corporeal things more or less, you will only generate revolutions, squabbles, and so on.

In short, the millionaire has made a mistake.

Speak Not with Words, but with Feelings

565.02Question: Today we look at our world, at humanity, and we see that everyone is shouting. Even on television shows. They sit a meter apart from each other and shout nonstop. What should people, humanity, do so that shouting would at least turn into conversation?

Answer: A person sitting opposite me should take my hand and begin to persuade me calmly, in a soft voice, even in a whisper, about what he wants.

Question: And in that case, should he want something for me?

Answer: Yes. He wants to tell me something. His message should be conveyed in exactly this form, in this manner, from the heart so that I can open my heart in response. And everything can flow from one heart into another.

Comment: You are describing an ideal picture of people sitting and wanting to pass warmth to one another.

My Response: And we, the viewers, watch this on television and feel glad that today they invited the right, normal people. We enjoy listening to them. They say very little, yet we understand everything.

Comment: You are talking about an ideal state, not really of our world. As far as I know, you do not particularly watch television. But it is enough just to look.

Answer: I certainly do not watch such programs.

Question: Yes, there are such shows—rings, a fight going on. It is no coincidence that beating someone up is now considered a sport. And here it is the same thing; they are beating each other up verbally. But humanity will not come to anything through this shouting, will it?

Answer: No, of course not.

Comment: Meaning that everyone will prove that they are right and…

My Response: They are not proving anything; they simply do not hear one another.

Comment: Yes, exactly, they do not hear.

My Response: The main thing for them is: when he is speaking, I am speaking. That is all.

Question: I want to understand. I keep asking this practical question all the time: How does one move to conversation? What is required?

Answer: Many more years will pass. Time itself must act. And it will, as it were, explain to both interlocutors, or to a group of people, that this is useless, it is not worth engaging in this. And gradually they will lose the desire to participate in such talk shows.

Then some kind of a turning point will come, and they will stop producing these “circus performances.” That is how I see it. And only afterward will a serious expression of intentions take place.

Question: So, do you think that this fight will exhaust itself?

Answer: This must happen.

Question: Will this come from above?

Answer: Certainly from above. There is no doubt about this at all.

Question: Do you think it will not come from us?

Answer: No, nothing good can come from us.

Question: So it will come from above: “Be silent. Be calm”?

Answer: Yes, let’s sit and be silent. That will be the program.

Question: So they will already become disappointed with us from above? Why would that suddenly happen?

Answer: No one above becomes disappointed. And who are we to be disappointed with?
Therefore, we will simply come to such a form of program that it will be transmitted through feelings. Not words—feelings. After all, we need to do something with ourselves.

We Can Do Nothing without the Creator

236.01When you become completely disillusioned with your search for yourself, for life, for the purpose of life, and for the Creator, and so on, then you are approaching the point of finding Him.

Question: So this disillusionment has to happen?

Answer: Yes.

Comment: Meaning that I must put effort into the search.

My Response: Absolutely everything you possibly can.

Question: Should my efforts be based on the idea that I can do everything myself?

Answer: Yes. And after you realize that you yourself can do nothing, you begin to determine where is it possible to connect with the Creator.

Question: You said, “I can do nothing.” Do I really not have any ability at all? Nothing?

Answer: Nothing.

Question: Not even some simple things?

Answer: No, no! Until a person raises their hands completely, fully entrusting themselves to the higher force, nothing will work for them.

Question: Today, we see wars and crises approaching, more and more intense ecological disasters, and so on. Will all of this lead us to the understanding that we can do nothing?

Answer: That is a question. What we see today, I do not think will lead to that yet. Humanity still understands its state and its dependence very little. It believes it can still do something.

Question: So we must knock out this “chair” from under ourselves, i.e., the idea that I can do something?

Answer: Yes. We can do nothing without the Creator.

Cowardice Protects Us

629.4Question: Why is cowardice so despised?

Answer: It is despised, but you have to understand that it is a human feeling, and a very strong one. By the way, it protects us from many problems that we could cause for ourselves and for others.

Question: So do you not despise a person who admits that he is a coward?

Answer: No, I do not despise him. One simply needs to know how to balance this force and protect oneself in a balanced way to the extent that is necessary.

Question: Is there courage without cowardice? Does such a thing exist at all?

Answer: No, only if it is a pathological condition.

Question: So do you call it a disease when a person is completely reckless?

Answer: Of course. Look at animals, and how they behave. They do not recklessly attack someone. They check, they circle around, and so on. And only afterward, if they decide to attack, they rush forward.

Comment: Yes, that is true. But with rabid dogs this mechanism seems to be switched off.

My Response: Yes.

Comment: So if a person is purely reckless, “brave,” as they say, it is actually a disease.

My Response: That is not courage.

Question: An important question arises: how should we raise children? They tell a child, “Do not be a coward; be brave.”

Answer: You should weigh everything.

Question: Who are you saying this to right now?

Answer: To the child. Weigh all the pros and cons. And only if you are convinced that there is no other choice, then attack.

Comment: You are now addressing the child as an adult, as someone possessing wisdom.

Answer: What can you do? It is the same with adults as well.

Question: But should such an attitude be applied to a child? That you should weigh all the pros and cons, and only after that…?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Is this what is called education?

Answer: Of course.

Question: Can a child do this?

Answer: He can because precisely this caution, this cowardice, can help him.

Question: What age are you talking about when you speak of this upbringing of a child?

Answer: At a young age, from three years old.

Question: From three years old you can say, “Weigh the options”? Sit in front of a child and say in an adult way, “Weigh the options”? Can one already relate to a child as to an adult at this age?

Answer: Yes.

Question: If a parent relates to a child in this way, what does it say about the parent?

Answer: That the parent is teaching the child a balanced attitude toward the world.

The Most Important Thing in a Marriage

506.3Question: What is the family of the future?

Answer: It is when a husband and wife are very close companions to one another. When we feel that we are doing something pleasant, we draw closer. When we feel that there may be some problems, we distance ourselves. We behave selectively. And then everything will be fine for us.

Question: But we do not run away from each other? Is that what it means to build a family?

Answer: We do not constantly think about “building.” We simply feel where we can help our partner, and where we should not interfere.

Comment: And this, you say, is called “companionship.”

My Response: Yes.

Comment: You use this word “companionship.” It is warm and very familiar to everyone.

My Response: That is the most important thing in marriage.

Question: That is the most important thing in marriage. And then everything will happen?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And everything else, like love?

Answer: Love exists between a mother and a child. And love exists between a person and the Creator. Between people, there is no love. There is the possibility of creating a very kind, close, mutual connection, but even that is still not love.

Love appears, manifests, is created, is born where there is a natural bond, like that of a mother with her child, and like the bond that arises between a person and the Creator.

This is natural connection. That is what can be called love. But simply between a man and a woman, even if they understand each other’s importance and try in some way to complement one another, that is not love; it is still companionship.

This Is Happiness

294.2Question: You keep talking about good connections, about the fact that people must draw closer to one another. But what if everyone says: “Here, I have a piece of clay.” And each one says this: “So do I, and I have one too. Let’s build a little house for us.” Will it work, or will it not work?

Answer: No.

Question: It would not?

Answer: You must understand what is missing in this piece of clay. What is missing is the inner connection of all the pieces, of everyone’s, everyone’s. And then, in the merging of our hearts, we return to the state called Adam, similar to the Creator.

Question: In what was he similar?

Answer: Before his shattering, before being divided into billions of parts, this was an angel. That is, an absolutely good, absolutely righteous, correct intention, which together with the Creator carried out everything necessary for a perfect world.

Question: Was this a single intention for everyone? One single soul like that? Can one say so? All souls were merged into one single soul?

Answer: Yes.

Question: You are speaking about what existed in the beginning, and then everything shattered into fragments, and the fragments of the soul fell, as they say, into this world of ours. And we must return to that state?

Answer: Yes. We must realize that we are in a shattered state and that we must return to a unified state. This is precisely what is called assembling the pieces of clay that each one has.

Question: When you say “assemble the pieces of clay,” what do you mean?

Answer: Merging, connection, the unification of hearts.

Question: So this is the material from which we must mold happiness?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And only then will there be happiness?

Answer: And then there will be what the Creator intended.

Question: And did He intend that we would be happy?

Answer: Of course!

Question: What is happiness, in the Creator’s understanding, in your opinion?

Answer: Happiness, in the Creator’s understanding, is the connection of everyone together into one single desire, into one single action, when we feel no shattering whatsoever between us. Then what we experience is called happiness. This is the definition of happiness.

No Regrets

629.3Question: What if you make a wrong choice? I checked everything, did everything, and made a wrong decision.

Answer: How do you know it is wrong?

Comment: As a result, I did not reach my goal.

My Response: But that will be evident after you make the decision.

Comment: After that, when I had already jumped.

My Response: After implementation?

Question: Yes, that is right. I realized I had made the wrong decision. What should I do about it?

Answer: Do nothing.

Question: I eat myself up on the inside after that! I double-checked everything, jumped, and everything is wrong!

Answer: You cannot do anything. There is nothing more to do, nothing to blame.

Question: Not to blame yourself?

Answer: No, absolutely not!

Question: How do I stop myself?

Answer: Relate it to the Creator.

Question: So before I was the one who measured everything? But after it happened…

Answer: The Creator did it. For sure it was the Creator.

Comment: That is, we have now come to the golden rule. I check everything.…

My Response: I decide, I act, and the Creator does the rest.

Question: No regrets, nothing?

Answer: Nothing. That is how it was intended from the beginning.

Comment: If it were possible to live like this, you would have no regrets at all.

My Response: So live like that.

Comment: “Live like that!” I wish I could learn to live like that.

My Response: You should have no regrets about anything! Everything is orchestrated from above.

The Main Law of the World

294.2Question: We constantly kill others with words. And the smarter ones kill gradually, not immediately. So as not to become an enemy, they kill gradually by starting rumors that spread through others. It is our nature to put the other down.

Why doesn’t it hurt me that I slowly humiliate another person, get them out of my way, and kill them?

Answer: I believe the other person does not let me live, that he is my enemy who sees me standing in his way and must destroy me.

Question: Why were we given such a nature to live like this?

Answer: It is all for the same reason, so that we correct our egoism, so that we can be convinced that “love your neighbor as yourself” is the main law of the world.

Comment: In that case, at some point, it should make me feel bad that I am like this.

My Response: Yes, of course.

Question: I see all these wars now, all these killings, directly, indirectly, and so on. And at what point does it come to me: “What am I doing? It is all inside me. How can I get away from this?”

Answer: At the moment of revelation.

Question: And when does this happen? Can this be accelerated, or can something be done? I understand that this is really the most important moment in my life. That everything is in me, that everything is because of me, that I am the killer. Does it come to a person at all?

Answer: When he becomes convinced that he is full of evil, then his true nature is revealed in him, and he can no longer tolerate it and turns to the Creator.

Question: Does this happen unexpectedly for a person? Or is it as if he already wants that?

Answer: No, this revelation usually comes with a serious push.

Question: So there is something before that; is there some kind of impulse after all?

Answer: Yes.

Question: When this is revealed to a person, does prayer to the Creator become natural because one understands that everything depends only on Him?

Answer: Yes, then a person turns to the Creator, judges himself, and by correcting himself, corrects the world around him.

We Don’t Need to Suffer

514.02I am not in favor of suffering. There are many examples of people choosing suffering and believing that this elevates them. This is incorrect.

Question: What does it mean not to suffer?

Answer: If you clearly understand, and you have the conditions where your suffering alleviates someone’s difficulties and helps them progress, then yes. But if this exists only in your imagination…

Comment: You have raised the bar now by saying: “If my suffering makes someone’s life, fate, and soul easier for someone.” You did not say “for me,” but “for someone.”

My Response: For someone else, of course.

Question: So if it serves as an example for someone, and I do this in order to set an example that it is possible, try it?

Answer: Yes.

A Person Dies and Then Realizes

627.1Question: I change, and the world changes. Is that the formula?

Answer: That is the formula. But who changes me?

Question: That is the important question. Is it the Creator who changes me? In response to what? Or is it simply His will?

Answer: It is so that I can gradually determine that I am under His authority and that He governs the world that He alone created. And I am grateful to Him for having carried me through all these metamorphoses.

Comment: But until that happens…

My Response: It doesn’t matter. A person does eventually reach such a state when he dies. Then he understands and realizes.

Comment: I will ask you carefully: “Who is he?” You said: “A person dies,” and then you say, “he understands and realizes.”

My Response: The person, in his soul.

Comment: But he’s dead.

My Response: And what does “dead” mean?

Comment: That is interesting. What does “dead” mean? You said: “A person dies and then understands.”

My Response: And then he understands, realizes, that the Creator led him through all the states of this life.

Question: But who is he? Who understands?

Answer: The person.

Comment: But he is no longer here. He died.

My Response: Was he buried or burned? So what?

Question: And where is he, the person?

Answer: The spirit. That is the person.

Question: So is this spirit immortal?

Answer: Of course. What, do you think, it is just a piece of meat?

Question: So, are you saying that there is something eternal in a person, which feels everything, passes through everything, and only that exists?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And this outer shell, what is it?

Answer: That you may bury.
