Question: Many Kabbalistic sources say that we should become a family. On such tragic days, it suddenly feels very true. It is clear that we are not talking about family ties.

What kind of family are we talking about?

Answer: This is about making everyone feel the person standing next to them so that we all feel that we are one family, that we are together. Only in this case will we not only defeat our external enemy, but also, most importantly, our internal enemy, our egoism. And then we are not afraid of anything!

Family is when we are all as one.

Question: Explain this, please, “as one whole.” We are different families, we are different people, different characters, different views, even left and right. How is a family built out of all this? Is it possible to build a family or want to build one?

Answer: It is possible. To do this, we only need to understand that victory can only be in this case and that in general we should leave all the contradictions between us and feel like one common whole. Only in this case can we defeat our internal enemy, and the external one is no longer a problem.

Question: Once, when we called ourselves the nation at Mount Sinai, there was such a proposal: “Either you will unite now, or this will be your burial place.” Do you think it is very similar to what is happening today?

Answer: Of course!

Question: Meaning, we can say that now we have been challenged, the Creator has set such a condition. And it’s as sharp as you say. Are we connecting above everything?

Answer: Above everything, yes. And of course, we should understand it that way.

Comment: But it’s no secret that we are egoistic.

My Response: We are the most egoistic and the worst, it is what leads us to unite and we see there is no other way.

Question: The force of this blow, which we have now felt, can it lead to such a decision, to prayer?

Answer: Yes. It can.

Question: The goal is clear. What do we all need to do for this?

Answer: Everyone should forget about themselves and think about others. I have to think about all the people who are obliged to survive this state and win.

Comment: You know, when these stories are being told, which are now happening at our frontline, there are a lot of cases when people forget about themselves. They tell about a soldier who falls on a mine and saves all his friends with it. About a woman, her name is Tali, who, while terrorists are shooting around, transports 13 wounded from the frontline, goes back and forth. An elderly woman, she has six children.

My Response: This is solidarity. And only from this can victory be born.

Question: Does each of us have to exist like this?

Answer: Exactly so. Everyone, as much as he can, must give himself for victory. Victory is when we unite above our egoism and act together.

Question: You have been talking about the law of love, bestowal, and mercy for many years. You said that this is the basis of our nation, the basis of the law within which we exist, and the whole world exists. Is this what we should follow?

Answer: Yes.

Question: This is on one hand. On the other hand, it is written by our sages in the Babylonian Talmud: If someone comes to kill you, rise up and kill him first. What does this mean for you?

Answer: If someone comes to kill you, rise up and kill him first means that we must forestall the enemy. And we are obliged to do this because this is the Creator’s covenant.

Comment: Then there is the law of love, bestowal, and mercy.

My Response: It depends in relation to whom and how. But if someone comes to kill you, then you must first rise and defend yourself so as to destroy the one who came to kill you.

Comment: Can you, please, explain the law of love, bestowal, and mercy at the moment when you are going to fight and kill the enemy.

Answer: This does not apply to enemies. No. There can be no love for someone who hates you and wishes for your death

Question: Can any kind of revolution ever happen so that we will suddenly look at our biggest haters with different eyes? Will anything happen?

Answer: Only after we get rid of them can there be a completely different attitude toward them. We should get rid of the haters. And then we can negotiate with those who remain.

Comment: All the laws are kind of revolving around mercy. And this one is very sharp!

My Response: It is not sharp, it is just straight. I do not see anything drastic or anything out of the ordinary in it.

Question: Why does it not say: “Try to make peace, try…”?

Answer: Any attempt is out of the question! After all, he came to kill you!

The people of Israel are going through very difficult times today. But, on the other hand, this can lead us to very good changes, as it is written in the prophets.  Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob‘s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it (Jeremiah, 30:7). It is precisely from the worst states we can get up, rise, grow, become strong, and achieve success.

After all, we understand that we have no choice; we must rise and succeed, and the Creator will be with us. Many people already realize that we need to correct ourselves, correct the force of separation between us. I hope this recognition of evil will help us rise and build ourselves.

I do not feel like we are hopeless. Our weapon is our unity, and we have not used it. If, out of desperation, we nevertheless take it and begin to use the force of our connection, no one will resist us. We will project this force of unity to the whole world, and the world will listen to us.

We must not give up because we have not even started this war yet. We must move forward and achieve success, we have no other choice. The Creator will still nevertheless obligate us either by the easy way or the hard way.

This is a war against our egoism. We cannot refuse to fight, because we are fighting not for ourselves, and not for our lives, but for the Creator. We are soldiers of the Creator’s army, and the Creator will win, the force of bestowal must win! It will be so.

The force of bestowal is the force of the Creator. If we dress in this force of bestowal, we will win. We must always remember that our success depends only on our internal unity, on the connection of our hearts. The force of unity is our main weapon.

People ask: if the Creator is kind and merciful, how could He allow such a catastrophe that occurred on October 7th?

It is known that everything happens under the governance of the upper force, but the Creator does not take into account physical bodies, and there are times when He allows a criminal to kill. But how can we attract mercy from above so that such a crime will never happen again?

With this suffering and pain, the Creator shows where we really lack correction. And correction is necessary only in the connection between us and nowhere else. We do not want there to be a war? Let’s unite, and there will be no war! We do not want people to die? Let’s unite, and there will be no lives lost!

The main thing is the connection, the closeness between us. We need to feel this law with all our heart, with all our mind, with all our soul. There is nothing else to do—just get closer to each other.

And in this closeness, we must reveal the mutual guarantee that all Israel are guarantors for each other. And if someone acts badly and leads to separation, then it is not he who is to blame, but all of us.

And this is so opposite to our egoism that wants to fence itself off from everyone in order to feel calm and righteous as if it had nothing to do with anything. But in fact, each of us must realize that it is he who is responsible and to be blamed for everything that is happening in the world.

For such a connection, mutual support is necessary, “he helped everyone his friend” to open their hearts. Everyone needs to obligate everyone to reach an understanding that correction can only be universal, mutual, and all together to the Creator. Life will put pressure on us until it forces us to fully unite in order to set an example and show the way to all other nations.

But we first need to show each other which way to go forward. And here everyone should feel that he alone is responsible in front of the Creator for the whole world and is obliged to pull the whole world to the Creator. This is the necessary condition; everyone must have at least a minimal correction and thus  pull the world forward, toward the Creator, toward unity.

And if this does not happen, then we will simply die out like dinosaurs, and the planet Earth will end its existence. Therefore, we must try by all means to soften our hearts so that we understand that only in the unification of hearts is the salvation for all mankind.

Now is the time for our nation to open their hearts to love and not settle scores with each other, but on the contrary, to rise above all differences and move toward peace in the world together. Let’s open our hearts and try to feel the Creator inside them, and see how beneficially this will affect the whole world.

Such is the law of the world that there will be no peace anywhere until there is peace between us.

Question: When a person finds himself in a difficult situation, often hopeless, he turns to the Creator. Today, many people in our country turn to the Creator. It is a well-known fact that “Israel is strong when we treat each other well.” Since the war began, we see examples of courage, self-sacrifice, mutual support, and assistance in the people of Israel. So why did we receive such a terrible blow that is comparable to the Holocaust?

The fact is that there is no real connection from heart to heart. Now, after this blow, people are doing wonderful things for the benefit of the nation. But some time will pass, two weeks, two months, and everything will return to the way it was before, and the confrontation will spill out onto the streets again.

We are struck by the savage cruelty of what happened. But this is not the first time in the history of Jewish people that such a catastrophe has occurred, and we still do not draw any conclusions.

We must realize that cruelty is inherent in human nature, especially toward the people of Israel. After all, it is written in our Torah that we must be the best. The Creator intended it this way that we must set a good example for everyone, and if not, then other nations treat us worse than everyone else.

What should we be the best at? Actually, in everything! And above all, in relationships with each other. We are obliged to help each other, to love and to feel close to each other.

Now we feel this closeness, but only because we are afraid that this will happen again. But as soon as fears dissipate, we will again become indifferent to each other.

A person receives strength for heroic deeds from the feeling that he is doing the good and the right thing. This allows him to go even against the instinct of self-preservation. That is why he is called a man and not an animal, which acts only according to instincts.

We must see examples of how we should all be toward each other in these selfless actions and realize our responsibility to save our neighbors. This is how we must act not only in the hour of disaster, but every day. After all, we must understand that we will always be in an emergency situation until we achieve love for our neighbor as for ourselves, until attention, unity, care, and mutual assistance become commonplace for us, and not a feat.

Question: More and more facts of terrorist atrocities are being revealed now. They were horrific! We are not even seeing all the photos that might be posted someday.

We did a 14-minute-long program with you about this. People watched it to the end. It received lots of views, almost a million, in 24 hours. This has never happened before. It received a lot of warm and heartfelt support and a very large flow of curses.

“You are aggressors! You torture the Palestinian people! How dare you say that this territory needs to be resettled, that it cannot exist next to you!” And so on. I will not repeat it because you know all this very well. The first question is: how do you feel about this?

Answer: I take this evenly. Even if there were no criticism, I do not react to it. This is a natural response of people who are on the other side of justice.

This will stop if we become loving, mutually obliging, and so on. Otherwise, we will feel bad all the time. We can say that the nations of the world are leading us to correction with their own hands.

Question: And the fact that people are very distrustful of this—of the fact that everything will change, that Jews must change, this being chosen?

Answer: It seems truly incredible, but I believe that no matter what, we will turn into who we are meant to be.

Question: Do you mean “Love your neighbor as yourself”?

Answer: Yes. And then all the nations of the world will say: “Look what the Creator did to them.”

They will see that we are one nation treating each other with love and not with mutual hatred, demonstrations, and all sorts of antics. And they will be happy to approach us and learn from us about this opportunity to live in peace and love.

That is, we have no choice. The Creator again gives us an opportunity, an incredible opportunity, so that we can establish a good connection between us and Him.

I consider what happened to us a miracle. Because there were no guards, no front, no one! They could have just calmly slaughtered all of us. This is what the Creator showed us—how we kill ourselves with our opposition, contradiction, and discord between each other. It is terrible!

The only thing I would wish is to beg the Creator not to let His people go until they are corrected. You must be a Jew, be different, and then everything will work out for you.

Question: What do you mean by the word “Jew”?

Answer: Yehudi (Jew) comes from the word “Yehud” (unity).

Question: Then everything will work out for us and everything will work out for the world?

Answer: Yes. But now we still live in debt. The world is suffering because of us and yet forgives us. And all this comes from above.

So we have no right to make claims to the Creator.

The Creator will evidently show us that Israel cannot exist in exile, and will find no rest as the rest of the nations that mingled among the nations and found rest, and assimilated in them until no trace was left of them. Not so is the house of Israel. This nation will find no rest among the nations until it realizes the verse, “And from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him for you will demand Him with all your heart and all your soul.” (Baal HaSulam, article “Exile and Redemption,” “Harmony between Religion and the Law of Development or Blind Fate”).

Question: Why does he call it a sentence as a result of the judgment?

Answer: Because it is in this state when we are completely scattered, and divided, when we have no society, no country, no sense of something of ours that surrounds us, we come to realize that, in principle, that we are nothing and nobody, and from this state, we begin to rise.

Question: Should we pray for the people of Israel to unite because they are the most broken? How should you direct yourself correctly in this regard?

Answer: To direct oneself correctly means to aim for such a unification among themselves that every nation comes to understand that a bright future can only be in unification between them.

Only in this way will we attain everything we desire, except one thing—to rule over others, to dictate to others—and will each person to understand what one’s uniqueness is, what one’s work is, and what one should do in order to benefit others.

And others will do the same for him or her, and absolute mutual love and care for one another, everyone, and everything will reign.

This is inherent in nature, it is how it should and will be. Only all this depends on us today, how much we can get at least one step closer to this. For this reason, wars occur.

Question: Should we in our prayer, internally help the people of Israel in uniting among themselves?

Answer: Yes, it is necessary to unite at this level, defend ourselves, and correct ourselves. However, the most important thing for us is to disseminate this idea to all of humanity.
