Ready To Be A Kabbalist’s Student

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Why do people who don’t know the wisdom of Kabbalah think that it engages in mysticism and magic?

Answer: In order to deter those who are not ready to engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah. A person has to ripen before he begins to study. Even people who wanted to study the wisdom of Kabbalah were turned down and had to make great efforts for a long time before being allowed entry to the study.

He was accepted under very strict conditions with all kinds of restrictions. By performing them, he was allowed to gradually become part of a Kabbalistic group, and then he was dedicated to the requirements for the study of Kabbalah. It was explained that this should be done in association with like-minded people who are building together a small, integral, closed society.

In this society, all are equal, all support each other, are included in one another until they dissolve into one single entity in whom they discover the upper world, and begin to study and explore it.

It says that this is what happened to the great Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, who later authored The Book of Zohar when he came to his teacher Rabbi Akiva. The latter sent him away three times, claiming that he wasn’t ready to study the wisdom of Kabbalah yet.

The Three Parameters Of Faith

laitman_568_01Question: Faith and not knowledge is at the basis of every religion. All religions have certain restrictions and prohibitions regarding the attainment of the laws of the universe. Why is that so?

Answer: It is because the religions don’t engage in attaining the upper force. They cannot do that and they exist in the dark. If a person could attain the true reality, there would be no religions, only the wisdom of Kabbalah would remain.

This is the reason that the religions are interested in blind faith, and thus they suppress any questions that people may have about the meaning of life. A religious person’s perception of the world is fanatic and he advances without any specific goals.

Comment: But the term “faith” actually stems from religion.

Answer: It is religious faith when a person accepts all the basic assumptions without asking any questions, without feeling or perceiving them.

Comment: But still it is the human level and it is very hard to skip it and to reach faith above reason.

Answer: It isn’t a level, but merely mistaken conceptions and a step backward.

There are three parameters of faith: faith below reason, faith within reason, and faith above reason.

When I believe in what I see, it is faith within reason; when I don’t need proof and simply accept what I am told and act accordingly like a child, it is faith below reason and that is religion. I believe what I am told without checking anything.

When I ascend above my ego and begin to perceive what is going on, it is faith above reason, which is what the wisdom of Kabbalah engages in. This is from where the contradiction between faith below reason (meaning the different religions) and faith above reason (meaning the wisdom of Kabbalah) stems.

According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, we have to yearn for attainment and not for faith. You must attain according to Kabbalah, to touch, to smell. Just like a kid who puts everything in his mouth because that is the most certain way, we also have to taste everything.

This is the reason that the attainment of the upper world is called flavors, which actually stems from the instinct to feel everything in our mouth, since it is the surest most certain feeling closest to us.

After all, I cannot put something sweet in my mouth and feel that it is bitter just because you claim that it is bitter. It is the same here; there is no room for faith.

Dreams That Reveal The Future

laitman_232_02Question: Can the future really be revealed through dreams?

Answer: Sometimes dreams give correct and true information about the future. After all, the future is programmed clearly and completely accurately. There are people like Wolf Messing who sense the future, but Kabbalists don’t particularly deal with this.

Nevertheless, reorganization happens in a dream, rearrangement, renewed referencing of all impressions, so future states can also be revealed because a person is not found in his ego but in a particular detachment from his ego. To that degree he can sense the future.

Believing In God

laitman_571_01Question: Scientists at the University of Pennsylvania studied the belief in God. They concluded that the belief in God grows stronger when a person thinks about meaningful events in his life where he chose a certain route and which could have end badly but ended well. A person relates this outcome to the upper force.

Scientists believe that belief in God does not necessarily need to rely on blind faith, but rather it is based on rational thinking. They claim that it is actually this fact that allows them to explain the stability of religious belief and that it provides clear evidence of religious principles

Answer: Humanity is very stable, and the longer that people live on this planet, the more they believe in unreal forces that have not been proven. A person wants God to exist. It is in his subconscious.

We can ask small children of religious people about the belief in God, and they will say that they believe in a certain force and that we should pray to it and ask it whatever we want. Their attitude toward the upper force is the same as their attitude toward their parents from whom they can ask anything and everything will be alright. It is a natural, instinctive response to uncertainty.

Question: People look for logic, even when they say that something did not happen by chance.

Answer: Of course, they can make up whatever they like, but when a person encounters the wisdom of Kabbalah, he receives an explanation for how he can feel the Creator and discover Him, and then he begins to understand that everything else is absolute psychology.

Question: Does this means that we cannot reach the Creator using the rational tools we have in this world?

Answer: The tools we have in our world are related to our senses. We cannot reveal the Creator through our senses, with our mind, or in our heart in any way.

The Creator is totally concealed from us, and therefore all of the assumptions result from the same illusions in the same way as all religions are based on guesses and assumptions.

They have nothing to do with the wisdom of Kabbalah and therefore are faiths that have no basis. In the wisdom of Kabbalah, on the other hand, there is a simple principle, as it is written, “A judge has only what his eyes see.” We only need to clean the glasses that we see through and view the world realistically without any double vision. Then you will be able to be your own judge because you know that you are looking at things correctly, judging them and making the right decisions. If you say, “this is what I think” or “what psychologists say,” and so on, you are still in the framework of our world. In our world, you can believe only what research discovers, which means what is based on clear evidence, not relying on philosophers and psychologists.

However, a person cannot enter the concealed part of human nature by himself since he has no feelings that match it. First, a person must establish these abilities inside himself, these sensors, and then he will begin to feel the Creator. You can attain that only through the wisdom of Kabbalah.

If a person wants that, he must study in an organized framework. Study, and you will discover the Creator and will not need to believe anything and, most importantly, anyone!

The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Does Not Deal With Miracles

laitman_624_03_0Question: There are some people who claim that they have attained Godliness and the revelations of miracles through different religions. Are there miracles or people with special abilities in the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: A Kabbalist does not engage in miracles. Everything a Kabbalist attains is internal and so he cannot show off his attainment before anyone and will never do it.

There is no point in forcing him to show some trick. It will not work. There are no miracles in our world. If we don’t know and don’t recognize the laws of nature, certain phenomena may seem to us as miracles.

If you lit a match in front of a Neanderthal man who lived 600,000 – 350,000 years ago, he could wonder how you did that and think that the fire came out of your finger, and would even bow before you and think that you are a creature from another world. So it all depends only on the relative level between two people.

A Different Newton

Dr. Michael LaitmanComment (russian-bazaar.com): “UNESCO has added the alchemical manuscripts and theological works of Isaac Newton, stored in the National Library of the Hebrew University (Jerusalem), to the official list of the greatest spiritual treasures of mankind. …

“Newton had no wife, no children, so after his death in 1727 the entire archive of the great scientist was handed over to his nephews and kept in their homes. For decades, Newton’s heirs tried to sell the archive, sincerely believing that it should be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, like the archives of Faraday, Maxwell, and other greats. Several times the heirs frequented employees of the library of Cambridge, the British National Museum and other respected institutions who weighed the possibility of buying Newton’s papers, but after a cursory acquaintance with manuscripts they recoiled from them like the plague, and purchase conversation ended.

“In 1936, Newton’s archive was put up for auction. Here, part of the manuscripts related to the scientific alchemical researches were bought by Lord John Maynard Keynes. He later on the basis of their study published a scandalous article “Another Newton,” in which he argued that the great physicist considered himself primarily a mystic and theologian, and still believed in God, not so much in the Christian as in the Jewish sense of the word.

“After that, it became clear that what so frightened historians of science, browsing the archives of Sir Isaac Newton, was that his manuscript heritage does not jibe with the image of a materialist, a supporter of pure science, practicer, tester, and follower of theory, which was created by his biographers. Manuscripts blown this way seemed to be an attack on the shrine.

“Meanwhile, at the same auction, a large portion of the manuscripts by Isaac Newton’s heritage was bought by a certain Abraham Shalom Yehuda. …

“Yehuda was familiar with Newton’s book Chronology of Ancient Kingdoms and was hoping to find new ideas for their research in the works of genius.

“Yehuda showed the new acquisition to his friend Albert Einstein; together they decided that such a treasure should not be stored at home and in a public place, and offered it as a gift to Harvard first, then to Yale. But both of theses temples of science categorically refused to accept these manuscripts, even from the hands of the authority of Einstein. …

“In 1951, doctors told Abraham-Shalom Yehuda that he was terminally ill. By that time his views had changed dramatically – he became a staunch Zionist and therefore decided to transfer the archives of Isaac Newton to the National Library in Jerusalem.

“The library gratefully accepted the gift, but after the death of Judah, his successors began a long legal process, and as a result, the manuscript arrived in Jerusalem only in the late 60s of the last century. The study of them began only in the 1980s, and since then, several monographs on the worldview of the great physicist were published.

“In particular, it became clear that Newton had devoted a lot of time to the study of the Tanakh and Kabbalah in Hebrew and considered the model of the Temple in Jerusalem to be the model of the universe, and was confident that in the original text of the Torah, by means of encrypted secret codes with some other texts that cover the main secrets of the universe, etc. In addition, Newton tried to look behind the veil of the future, and following the Jewish mystics, calculated the date of the arrival of the Messiah, as well as predicted a number of individual things to come. In particular, on the basis of these calculations, it is claimed that in 1880 the Jews would return to the land of their ancestors, and in the 1940s, after some terrible disaster, which would kill millions of people, in the Land of Israel the Jewish state would be reborn. The coming of the Messiah will be in the year 2060.

“It is clear that for Newton, such followers of academic science was not necessary; because they recoiled from his manuscripts and legacy, they gained their last refuge in Jerusalem. The great scientist’s works are still hiding their main secrets.”

My Comment: Many more interesting facts about human history are still hidden and will be opened in its last days …

“Noah’s Ark” Of The 21st Century

laitman_627_2Comment: As long as the planet Earth has existed, for billions of years, eleven mass extinctions have taken place. The largest extinction took place between the Permian to Triassic periods 250 million years ago when about 90% of animal and plant species were annihilated. Today in Russia they want to collect all living organisms and preserve them by building a unique database, a “Noah’s ark” of the 21st century.

Answer: For the planet Earth and the world overall there is an end because “matter” is a certain feeling within our senses. Events of the world, our existence in it, time, the sequence of actions, and everything that happens, occurs only in our senses. What lies outside our emotions, we do not know. We do not know whether something really exists or not.

We have spent our thousands of years of existence building cities, archives, libraries, theaters, and everything else, but in fact we are like children building in sand. Nothing exists except our feelings, our emotions. Soon our feelings will begin to change drastically. Soon we will begin to feel the world from a new attribute, the attribute of bestowal, and then the present attribute of reception will seem as nonexistent.

We will rise above the attribute of reception and everything between us in this world will simply fade like smoke. The world will disappear because humanity will feel a new feeling, a new coordinated system.

Question: So nuclear wars will not be the reason for the disappearance of the world?

Answer: No, in any case nuclear wars won’t destroy the whole of humanity because humanity needs to reach a new state where it will change and correct itself and rise to the next level of development.

Even if nuclear wars would destroy 90 % of humanity, then the remaining 10% will be committed to carrying out the complete plan of creation. And when the plan of creation is carried out, the way we feel about the world today will disappear and we will begin to feel ourselves and the world surrounding us in a completely different way, in the form of a single complete soul.

Question: Won’t you be sorry that the seventy books that you wrote will just disappear?

Answer: I am willing for them to disappear even tomorrow; the most important thing is that humanity will begin to move forward. I know that my work for the advancement of the world won’t disappear. It will be recorded and exist thanks to the spiritual accomplishments that people can make on their own.

The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Is A Collective Study

laitman_940Question: What does it take to start studying the wisdom of Kabbalah? Are there any limitations?

Answer: We don’t put anyone under a polygraph test, but a person who wants to study the wisdom of Kabbalah should be mentally healthy. The reason is that this study requires a certain level of internal concentration. It is a study of the meaning of life, of man, of our connection with nature, and of the way we are all connected to each other, etc. The wisdom of Kabbalah deals with information that can require a bit of an effort from a person. I have come across cases when the condition of a mentally ill person who didn’t have strong nerves worsened as a result. These cases are quite rare, but it may still occur.

Question: Can a person study the wisdom of Kabbalah by himself or does it have to be in the right framework?

Answer: He will not achieve anything if he studies by himself. The point is that studying the wisdom of Kabbalah is divided into theoretical and practical study. A person has to gradually feel the plan in which the Kabbalistic instructions operate and how he should work with them, change himself and his fate, and this is only possible in the circle of his friends.

Question: Does that mean that the wisdom of Kabbalah is a collective study?

Answer: Yes, according to the wisdom of Kabbalah, all of humanity is in a collective, living in an absolutely enclosed space.

A Meat Diet Transformed The Ape Into A Human

laitman_231_04Question: An observation at Harvard University revealed that the ape became human thanks to a change in its mastication (chewing) apparatus.

The researchers claim that the hallmark of the evolution from ape to human, walking upright on two legs, is not just walking on two legs, but a reduction of the tooth-jaw mechanism as well. In their opinion, the main reason for this evolutionary change was the consumption of meat.

Answer: This is the opinion of the researchers at Harvard.

However, according to the wisdom of Kabbalah, the four levels of nature—still, vegetative, animate, and speaking—are necessary. It derives from a higher level. In fact, there is no evolution. There is a gradual appearance of the spiritual roots in our world, which seems like evolution to us.

But they are revelations, not evolution. After the root of the still level completely revealed its pattern, the root of the vegetative level began to be revealed. After that came the root of the animate level, and finally the root of the speaking level. There are additional intermediate levels between them, but this is not really evolution.

Nothing can be created in our world or something else developed from a single element. There is only a manifestation of a growing upper root that yields more and more consequences in our world.

Question: Do you support the theory of Charles Darwin or not?

Answer: When I talk about evolution, I don’t mean evolution according to Darwin’s theory, which talks about the transformation of an ape into a human.

According to his theory, this phenomenon happened on Earth by itself. I emphasize that Darwin was right when he claimed that the human was created from an ape. But he was not right about this phenomenon happening by itself on the level of our world. Nothing can be born in our world. That is the problem.

Our world is a world of results, a world of branches. The spiritual world is a world of roots. The moment that the spiritual roots come out and are revealed, their results are discovered here! So, we truly are seeing an evolutionary process in front of us, but, in fact, it is happening in the upper world in the revelation of the higher roots.

Question: What is evolution? The development of desire?

Answer: Yes, in the upper world there is nothing other than desire. The desire of the vegetative level develops into the desire of the animate level, and after that into human desire. In our world, desire is revealed as a result, as tangible objects.

Everything that we do in our world first happens in the upper world. It is said that a person could not move a finger were it not for a higher power that awakens a desire for this movement in him. So, there isn’t any connection to the chewing mechanism of the ape or to eating meat. Apes began to eat meat because this root was revealed in them.

If the roots and the results were revealed to us, we would look at our world and see a theater of puppets on strings where each one performs an action only according to that action from above—not even according to an instruction, but as a result of the higher force that necessarily arouses the appropriate activity.

Playing With Sensations

laitman_567_04Question: You often say that the wisdom of Kabbalah is a science that is grasped in the senses. But a science cannot be studied without the intellect, without thinking?

Answer: Of course, it is impossible. The wisdom of Kabbalah is not grasped in the senses, but we feel in feelings. Then we check these feelings: we divide, we compare among themselves, we give them graduating numbers as though weighing them.

In fact, Kabbalah is playing with feelings. But it orders them systematically, and we start to see the interaction of desires, what feelings arise in each of them.

In Kabbalah, we measure very precisely all the feelings and give them a numeric name, determining their power, direction, properties and so on. Therefore, we have a science of feelings, because the only matter of our world is desire.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is depicted as the science of emotions because the only matter in our world is the desire, and what is felt in the desire is called sensing, which is felt as the Light that operates and affects the desire. This means that, by measuring the changes in the desire, we measure the Light that operates and affects it.

Question: What comes first, a person’s mind or the desire?

Answer: The desire comes first and the mind follows, and this is how we develop. Where does a child’s mind come from? It is only as a result of the development of the desire.

The greater the desire that a person has, the more he needs a mind in order to acquire all of his desires and control them.
