In the wisdom of Kabbalah, we study and then reveal that all of creation, everything that exists in our world and in the world of forces around us, which we call spiritual world, is just one common network of connections.

This common, mutual, supportive, mutually complementing network of connections is called the soul. We talk only about it: how to reveal it between us, how to increase it, how to enter it with our mind and feelings, and how to control it. All this is the attainment of the soul.

In revealing this connection, we begin to discover the force of bestowal and love called the Creator. This, in principle, is all that the wisdom of Kabbalah is engaged in, and in general all that a person can do: during his life in this world to attain the Creator, to attain the soul, i.e., the network of forces in which we all exist, and through which we are completely interconnected.

Question: They say that teaching spirituality should be free. Our training is of high quality, long-term, but not free. Why does it cost money to study with us?

Answer: Our training costs as much as it costs. The fact is that we exist in a world in which everything is bought and sold, you must pay for everything. For everything that you see, hear, and read now—someone had to pay.

We ourselves work only to ensure the development and spread of the science of Kabbalah in the world. There is a small contingent of people who work for a salary. Moreover, the salary is such that you would not go anywhere for such pay and would not be happy if you were offered it.

Question: Does reading of The Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah and The Study of the Ten Sefirot help build a conceptual apparatus?

Answer: No. The Preface to the Wisdom of Kabbalah and The Study of the Ten Sefirot are auxiliary books for the development of the soul in comparision wiht the articles and letters of Baal HaSulam and Rabash. None of the sources has greater influence on the soul than the articles of Shamati.

Question: What is special about the letters of Baal HaSulam compared to Shamati?

Answer: Baal HaSulam raises a certain issue in every article in Shamati and explains very specifically and clearly what it is about.

In the letters, on the other hand, he writes about daily matters, for example an article about Parashat HaShavua (the weekly Torah portion) and things like that. Generally speaking it is not a methodological presentation and expression of the material. But the truth is that there are parts in it that we simply swallow and cannot leave.

Comment: In lessons, we mainly study the writings of Baal HaSulam and his oldest son, Rabash. It seems we have apparently constricted the entire chain of great Kabbalists.

My Response: The writings of the rest of the Kabbalists are concentrated in both of them. Therefore, by studying the writings of Baal HaSulam and Rabash, we are not missing anything. First, they are the last and closest to us. Second, they are truly the modern Kabbalists of the twentieth century.

Third, all the previous Kabbalists throughout many generations are somehow gathered and concentrated in the writings of Baal HaSulam and Rabash, and so we have not lost anything.

In their writings, Baal HaSulam and Rabash relied upon the more ancient Kabbalistic sources, such as The Book of Zohar, the Sefer Yetsirah, and so forth. There are also articles that they themselves wrote. It is easier for us to read and study them.

In principle, we have no need for more than this. Also, without going beyond the framework of their writings, we can fully acquire the wisdom of Kabbalah and apply it in a way that is necessary for our correction.

Question:  Baal HaSulam and Rabash are like a lens that concentrates the rays of the sun?

Answer: Yes, Baal HaSulam gathered everything that was before him for us. He explained The Book of Zohar and the writings of Ari. There was no important subject in the wisdom of Kabbalah, the wisdom of managing the world through a system of higher behavior, which he has not clarified.

Baal HaSulam explained everything, he brought the wisdom closer to us and expressed it in a language that is understandable to us. If we do not study his writings, we will actually be incapable of understanding anything in the world, its behavior, and its purpose.

Answer: Shamati is attained gradually. You are twenty years old today and by studying the method with us in about ten years you will understand what this book is about, its depth, and then begin to find similar states in you.

The book will be like a guide to spiritual states for you according to your soul. Reading it will make everything turn over in you, not psychologically like in a novel, but as the revelation of different states and angles in you, and then you will begin to feel the upper world. This is how the book will work, gradually.

The Book of Zohar has a double effect.

First, if we want to develop and read it patiently, systematically, under certain conditions, with the intention of developing, then through it, through studying it, a special developing force descends upon us.

Second, to the extent of our development, each time we will feel and understand more of what is written in The Book at the level that we reach.

The Book itself covers all spiritual layers to the very end. You can read it as long as it takes for you to reach your full spiritual elevation.

Question: Do we need it after that?

Answer: After that, you will already know everything, you will understand everything, you can do everything.

It means that you can read The Book of Zohar for a hundred years without any advancement, without receiving anything. Or, you can read it in such a way that within five to ten years it will elevate you to its final degree.

Question: Does Quantum Physics explain the power of our thoughts?

Answer: I cannot vouch for Quantum Physics since there are additional aspects that are published every day with regard to it in the form of different theories and methods. In the past, I used to keep up with the new publications all the time, but now for a long time, I have not engaged in it.

The fact that we can manage different actions through our thoughts is true. After all, thought is the highest power. Above it, is only desire. So, if the desires and thoughts of a person are correctly directed, then the power of the Creator is put on in them, and the person creates.

In principle, we do everything that we need to do to correct the creation by our thoughts and our desires, in which the thoughts and desires of the Creator are clothed.

Comment: Baal HaSulam was a revolutionary who performed a dramatic change in the wisdom of Kabbalah. He was strongly hated by some and strongly loved by others, and there was no average attitude toward him.

My Response: Yes, this is true. People who understood him loved him, and those who did not understand him naturally hated him very much. There were even people who used to come to his grave and step on it after he passed away.

Question: Do you think that Baal HaSulam was a revolutionary?

Answer: When I first began to read texts by Baal HaSulam it opened my eyes. I read a lot before that, including the writings of Ramhal, Ramak, the Gaon from Vilnius, and other serious Kabbalists who were popular. They were really great Kabbalists, but I didn’t feel that I received anything from them.

I did not enter their flow and did not understand their language. They did not tell me anything, although I seemingly listened and read books, but it was not the same system of expression that was supposed to clothe unto me.

When I discovered Baal HaSulam, however, I was very impressed by the way he expressed the text, by his system, his revelation, and how he guides the reader by telling him “Look here, look there, now you see the difference, this way or that way,” although I cannot say that I understood everything. It was a feeling of a teacher who studies with you and guides you, plays with you, and answers your questions.

Baal HaSulam’s writings are based mainly on questions and answers. In his articles he first asks questions and then answers them. This is the right thing to do methodically.

Question: You were looking for not a mystical or emotional, but actually for a scientific presentation.

Answer: Yes, of course, only scientific. Everything else was wrong and not true for me, and I thought that I had no need for it and that it was totally unimportant.

Question: How is Baal HaSulam’s modern language expressed scientifically?

Answer: At least in what he said, “In this article I would like to scrutinize these and those questions,” and then listed about 20 questions. Then he gradually clarifies one question after another and arrives at a clear and accurate outcome, and then sums it all up, “to sum up, what we have is this and that.”

As a university graduate and a beginning researcher, this approach was certainly the closest to me and best understood. I understood that he is a serious person and not just some religious person who believes in something and wants to impose his views on me by confusing me. As a methodologist, Baal HaSulam accurately builds a logical chain and a scientific approach.

Comment: Einstein is reputed to have said that in reply to being asked how his intelligence differed from others’ intelligence.

My Response: In general, this is true. But who is capable of it? Immediately there are disappointments, repetitions. Nothing shines ahead and there are a lot of critics who disagree with you.

Question: Is that when you look for the first needle in a haystack?

Answer: And even if you found this needle, then what? They can only laugh at you even more; there is something to cling to. A huge number of problems arise for humanity on this path.

The main thing, I think, is not to pay attention to anyone, neither critics nor praisers. You have to check within yourself. Your heart says that this is the right way, go ahead.

Otherwise, nothing will work out! Otherwise, you will simply follow others. If you want to go on your own… I am not saying to go ahead with a torch and illuminate the path for humanity, no! If you want to go your own way, you just have to go. And there can be no obstacles in your way! That is how I go and that’s it. I am not forcing you. You check for yourself.

Question: What is stopping us?

Answer: We are stopped by public opinion. That is the problem.

Comment: There is terrible, destructive criticism!

My Response: It doesn’t matter! Let them talk. I am the way I am.

Comment: And there are logical proofs that this is the wrong way.

My Response: Wrong way, so what? So I am wrong. Do I have the right to make a mistake? I do. Let me be wrong. Half the people are wrong. Let’s say half. You know that is an understatement. Well, I am wrong. But I check with myself all the time: “I go the way I want to go, and I do not listen to anyone?” Then this is the right way.

Question: What is this inner torch that leads?

Answer: I feel that I cannot do otherwise. I cannot! I can, of course, force myself, turn away, get carried away, do something, and in a few years I will still come to the same thing. I have to discover myself! So I can open this path so that I can achieve my spiritual growth, my spiritual goal. And what is it like, I don’t know.

Question: But, one way or another, is this already a spiritual path?

Answer: The spiritual path. And it is always only spiritual. What else is there for a person in this world? What other development? Only to develop your soul or your inner desire. I strive to hear myself and that’s it.

Question: And if frustration comes at some point?

Answer: It is always there. So what? But this is my way!

Question: And if you realize that it is a mistake, what then?

Answer: Also my way. All, all this is my way! And let no one and nothing sneak into it! Let me make my own mistakes! Do not disturb me! And then what I am done with, I am done with. It is mine! I am guilty or I deserve it, but it is me.

Do not look at others! Never! You have a different soul, you cannot be like them, and they cannot be like you. So pay less attention to everyone. Would Einstein have done something if he had looked at others? It is impossible! Just listen to yourself. Even if I am wrong, it is me.

Question: And if we apply this to the everyday, common person?

Answer: What does ordinary mean? Everyone can be different. Let him listen to himself, hear himself. That is how I can, this is how I want, that is how I think, not in spite of others, but it comes from inside me.

This is my “I” that must be pulled out of me. And you will feel, even in mistakes, very comfortable with it.

Just close your eyes and you are all alone! But you are with yourself, you are not running away from yourself. That is all.

Question: That is the way to live?

Answer: Yes. That is my advice. Then, in order to implement it, you have to create a special environment for yourself, and so on. But still, you are alone.

Comment: That is, if I felt, “this is mine,” then I have to grab onto it and that’s it.

My Response: I implement it.

Comment: And that is the way I go. And along the way there will be squalls, seventh waves…

My Response: It does not matter, I will be even closer to myself.

Question: What does Kabbalah give a person now, and how does it apply to our complicated life today?

Answer: In our time, even the most ordinary person who does not want to think about anything other than work, school, family, or career cannot make the world right and secure for himself if he does not know the basic laws of nature, which are revealed by Kabbalah and nowhere else.

He cannot make society right or a good environment for existence without knowledge of the true laws of nature that Kabbalah explains to us. Therefore, mastering this science is necessary for him.

Once a primary school education provided enough knowledge and we were prepared for the rest of our lives. Today we can hardly exist and navigate correctly without knowing what the science of Kabbalah reveals to us.
