Forward All the Time

275Question: The more we study, the bigger our ego becomes. Should we have control over the ego and recognition of it?

Answer: No, we don’t have control over the ego, but we can have recognition of it.

What should we do? Keep moving forward, always asking the Creator for unity and connection with our friends. In this way, through our unity, we will reveal our collective ego and finally ask the Creator correctly to correct it.

Question: How can we avoid fearing the loss of what we already have? By understanding the voice of egoism, how can we still serve the Creator?

Answer: You should tell everything to the Creator, and then you will receive answers from Him. Based on these answers, you will gradually change, and everything will fall into place.

Question: So, should we hold on to the Creator and try to detach from egoism?

Answer: You can try to detach on your own, but it won’t really help. The Creator does this as well. The most important thing is to annul yourself before the Creator. And to annul yourself before Him, you must first annul yourself before your friends. Then everything will work out.

When you ask the Creator to connect you, to the extent He does so, you will feel how close you are to each other, and this is how you will move forward.

Observe Kabbalistic Rules

560Question: I know that a friend does not pay maaser and does not follow the group’s rules. How should I relate to him, annul myself, and unite with him?

Answer: It depends on the mutual agreement between you. If you join a group where there are minimal Kabbalistic rules, you must follow them.

Therefore, your attitude toward the friend should be based on how he fulfills the conditions the group has committed to uphold.

Mutual Guarantee on a Sensory Level

243.04Question: What is a mutual guarantee in a person’s internal perception on a sensory level?

Answer: It means that you pray to attain mutual guarantee together with your friends, and in response, you receive the revelation of this quality from the Creator.

Question: I feel that I want to connect with the friends, but it may harm them. I realize I will not unite with them because I fear my egoistic influence on them. Is that part of the calculation and part of the mutual guarantee?

Answer: Partially, yes.

Question: How can I progress from this state?

Answer: Ask the Creator for the feeling of how you might harm your friend, and then you will see what to do next.

In the Desire to Adhere to the Creator

935Question: You said prayer is needed to break through the bubble of illusion where we are separated. What kind of prayer is this?

Answer: We should not think about ourselves, but about our common desire, intention, and goal, of how we unite our desires into one perfect desire. We need to understand this well.

Question: What do we give to the Creator if He is perfection?

Answer: Our desire to be connected to Him, to adhere to Him.

In the Hands of the Group

938.04Question: What do you do when a person wants to nullify himself, performs this action, but then becomes passive and indifferent? What is the mistake here?

Answer: The ten should hold him in its arms, let him try, and you will help him.

Question: Let us say his opinion differs from the others, and the others do not accept his opinion. Then, the friend seemingly annuls himself, but at the same time, he loses strength and cannot do anything. What should he do?

Answer: It is true that he has no strength because he does not yet have real, correct desires. It is impossible to receive strength from egoism.

In principle, the main thing is to pray, to ask the Creator for strength, and to understand where he was thrown and in what state. From all this, he will receive the right feelings, from which he will slowly rise to the Creator. He will see that he needs to ask.

Question: How should the group act? You said that it should hold him in its arms. What kind of support is that? Should we say that you have a different opinion, but we still love you? Or should we listen to what he says?

Answer: No, it is not necessary to listen. If you hold him, he would understand this and want to gradually free himself from your help and learn to hold himself.

That is, he should gradually become independent. That means that in any circumstances, he will orient himself toward connection with the Creator through his friends.

The Temple Above Dust

935The person received an inheritance from his teachers not to let anything be built on this dust, except for the Temple (Rabash, Notes 804 “Raises the Poor from the Dust – 2”).

Dust is not soil, stone, or sand, but specifically, dust, meaning a part of the earth that is useless for anything.

When a person sees that they stand on dust, it indicates that there is no future, and they still do not have the foundation on which to build the Temple, a house of sanctity.

Question: To build the Temple, on our part, we need agreement with the Creator, patience, lowliness, and prayer. What does it mean to agree with the Creator?

Answer: It means agreeing that we are low in our desires and must unite with one another in prayer to the Creator to reach correction. That must be clearly understood both emotionally and intellectually. It is a good degree.

Through Internal Connection

938.03Question: At a convention, we will not always have the technical ability to be with our ten. It feels like we have to maintain an internal connection. How can we internally maintain this point of unity?

Answer: I do not think that we will always gather in the form we are doing today.

After all, you will not gather the ten that you will gather at the convention today every time, because next time others will come, and then others. Therefore we need to do something so that all this does not fall apart. I do not know how much it helps that we hold conventions. Maybe it does the opposite.

The thing is that people are used to working in their place, from their city, from their country. And here, everyone is mixing. Once upon a time, many years ago, this was good. And now we need to think carefully about what to do with conventions in the future.

Question: We are now virtually connected with our ten. What am I adding to the fact that now, while here, I want the friends in my ten to advance toward the Creator?

Answer: You transmit all this through your internal connection between hearts.

How Do We Hear the Creator in the Ten?

945Question: Has each of us who studies at Bnei Baruch in one way or another heard the Creator at least once? Can this be said?

Answer: No, we are only preparing to hear Him.

Question: How do we hear the Creator in the ten?

Answer: If you are united with each other in the ten, then the quality of hearing will manifest in you. In other words, no one will hear the Creator individually, only together.

Questions about Spiritual Work—175

234Question: You said we should either work on our own flaws or the flaws of our friends. Which is more beneficial?

Answer: When a person works on his or herself.

Question: How is a heart of stone different from a heart of flesh?

Answer: The heart of flesh is actually the heart of stone.

Question: If I try to feel my friends as myself, how should I deal with their egoistic desires?

Answer: You should not take on the egoistic desires of your friends. You should distance yourself from them and allow them the opportunity to understand and correct their own qualities. A person cannot correct someone else’s desires.

Question: Is a pure heart the heart of the group and a heart of flesh a personal heart? Or are they the same?

Answer: No, a pure heart is a heart completely corrected of egoism, even in one person, while an egoistic heart is filled with egoistic desires. These are two opposite states.

Question: There is always a contradiction between body and spirit. How can one strengthen the spirit?

Answer: By being connected with good friends.

Question: If I constantly, many times a day, reveal my own evil, where in this endless prayer for my own correction should I include a prayer for my friends, and what should it be like?

Answer: It should be one united prayer where you care both for the correction of your own heart and the correction of your friend’s heart.

Ask the Creator for Assistance

938.07Question: We have a healthy egoism that drives us, and there is also what is called the evil inclination. How can we learn to distinguish between them?

Answer: Try to discern this based on your connection with one another. You should be in a state of maximum closeness with each other, and then you will begin to notice various nuances in your relationships. At that point, it will become easier for you to turn to the Creator and ask for His assistance.

Question: What will allow us to speak with the Creator directly?

Answer: Being in the same qualities and aspirations as He is.

Question: How important is it to have the desire to reveal the Creator?

Answer: This is the most important reason for you to engage in the wisdom of drawing closer to the Creator.
