The Truth that Is Not Usually Talked About

599.01Question: Do you know how many elderly people are abandoned now? A lot! And for some reason, their children do not care about them. They do not even call them. What about my responsibility to my parents? After all, there is a natural bond with them.

Answer: But why is there an attachment to parents? Do I think that they should be concerned about me all my life; why else did they give birth to me? As long as they live, they should think about me. Or if they do not relate to me, so they do not. I leave them, and that is it.

Question: How can a child feel this way toward his parents?

Answer: He doesn’t feel it.

Question: Does he feel any pain, nothing?

Answer: No.

Comment: His parent is dying and he…

My Response: He does not feel! Because he has outgrown his animal egoism and does not feel any connection to his parents, that he should help them, provide for them, think about them, and so on. Do not invent what does not exist! It cannot be brought back!

Lately, this has all been dying down, and today it does not exist. If you help your children, then they need you. You can be close to them. But if you stop helping them, then they do not need you. That is how it happens.

Question: If I, as a parent, help my children, do they need me then?

Answer: Then they will need you, and you will be close to them to some extent.

Comment: I am just confused by one thing: that you generalize. There are normal relationships too.

My Response: I am talking about the trend of nature! That is why I generalize.

Question: And what next?

Answer: In our generation, parents can still give something to their children: guide them, leave what they have earned to them, etc. But in the next generation, there will already be a gap.

There will be such relationships between parents and children that if they have the same spiritual goals, then they will be somehow connected through them. And if not, people will start to completely forget about their parents. And parents, frankly speaking, will also not think about their children.

Question: What will parents think about?

Answer: About how to spend time peacefully with their elderly friends and companions.

Comment: With their dogs and cats.

My Response: Yes. There are various clubs opening for playing dominoes, I do not know what else.

Question: What is good about this?

Answer: Nothing! A person just needs to understand how he should be connected to others today. It is a totally different system—not a system of an earthly animal connection.

Question: Is the “parents-children” system not an animal system?

Answer: It is a system in which parents and children reveal a common goal for themselves. And then this goal connects them together.

Question: What is that goal?

Answer: That goal is the attainment of the meaning of life. For parents, children, and grandchildren, it is always the same. If they reveal it, attach to it, then they will feel the need to connect with each other and help each other in this.

Question: What common goal of life are you talking about? That parents and children have one goal that they strive for?

Answer: Then parents will be able to push their children toward the right goal. Then there will be unity between them, both earthly and spiritual, for the revelation of the Creator between them.

Question: What is the revelation of the Creator?

Answer: The revelation of the Creator is the revelation of mutual connection and love.

Question: Only between them?

Answer: First and foremost.

Question: In this unit of children and parents? To reveal this force?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And do they not want to reveal it now?

Answer: They do not want to. Who told them about it? Who pushed them toward it? Who?

Question: So these natural connections, that is not “someone told them”?

Answer: No, of course not.

Comment: This is my father, my grandmother, my… no?

My Response: No, nothing at all.

Comment: You are harsh today.

My Response: I am not harsh. This is what is being revealed in the world. Am I harsh? It is you all who made the world this way.

Comment: But this truth that you are talking about now… I can imagine how many comments will follow.

My Response: I am for revealing this truth and not hiding it so that people can see what a low, base state they are in, and what it leads to.

Question: What conclusion should a person draw after your harsh words? That there will be a gap between parents, children, and grandchildren, and that this is natural?

Answer: If they do not find a common goal, then nothing will connect them. Nothing will connect them!

Comment: That is, you are calling on them to look for this common goal.

My Response: Yes.

You Paint Your Own World

424.02There is a strict law of nature that says my attitude toward others determines their attitude toward me.

This seems so strange to us. But if we try, if we make an effort, then gradually, we will see that the world depends only on our attitude toward it, and it will begin to change for the better.

In other words, you paint your own world.

Purposeful Movements

272Comment: One can tell by looking at you that when you distance a student from yourself it is not to their detriment; meaning, it is not done with an arrogant attitude.

My Response: No, I have never had an arrogant attitude toward anyone. That is certain. There is simply a specific attitude that brings a person toward the goal in a faster and clearer way.

He may see it as something rude or dismissive, but from my side it should be this way. Are we going to work on etiquette now? In this way it is closer to the Creator, and that is all. Therefore I do not have to explain anything.

I remember that I had a student whom I asked to change his seat when we were recording a TV program because he had rather an unsightly face. He cried, jumped up from his seat and ran away.

I was surprised about this. If I were told that my face could alienate TV viewers whom we want to attract to Kabbalah, I would be grateful to this person: it is ok if I do not sit in front, but by this I will make my contribution; I won’t repel people away from Kabbalah.

However, he did not understand that. And I did not understand him. How is it possible to be offended by this? Does it mean that I love you less than others, that I appreciate you less than others? The Creator made you this way that you frighten people. So what?!

After all, we are together working in the same business! We are not taking pictures for memories. We are doing this for the world and you would be seen by all. If this is good, then yes; but if this is not good, then no. We have to approach this business in a realistic way as serious people.

Here I have very concrete, perhaps sometimes very harsh actions and people think that my actions are heartless or condescending. However, in reality they are just very goal oriented, especially when it comes to dissemination—remove one, put another one, move this one here, that one is moved there, this one can be yelled at, but not that one. Such is the work.

A person has to understand that and be grateful for the directions. Thank God someone tells him and he can do it, and in some way he can be part of dissemination and revelation of the Creator.

The Book of Our Actions

258Question: You said that we get up, join the lesson, leave the lesson, and go home, and that all these things should be literally like chapters of the book that we are going through. What kind of book is this? How should we write it?

Answer: We must indeed write the book of our actions inside ourselves.

This is a book of a person’s intentions: how he draws closer to the Creator and achieves unity with Him.

A Representative of the Creator’s “Office”

963.5Comment: You say that you are an ordinary person. But at the same time, you are prominent. Many people know you and many admire you.

My Response: But I hope they do not attribute this to me because I do not feel like that at all. In Kabbalah, the main actor is the Creator, not the one who represents Him. In some way, I am like His representative, but nothing more than that, let’s say a clerk, a representative of the office of the Creator.

So look at me, and I don’t think people will look at me closely for long. After all, through me (I would, of course, like it to be this way) they will be observing the one who stands behind me. I tell them about someone, not about myself; I show someone, not myself. I constantly direct them toward Him, and I step aside so that they can see Him, so to speak.

I am not an actor who exhibits himself: “Look how I am dressed! Look how I performed!” On the contrary! Maybe that is why I lack the sense of personal importance; I am always looking at the Creator and inviting you to do the same. We are always talking about Him!

Comment: But many people look at you with misty eyes, almost as if looking at God.

My Response: This is a temporary phenomenon. Every person has such a period when he is very “small” and looks at someone higher with deification. And then it passes.

At least with my behavior, my communication, and my external appearances, I try to erase the feeling of personal importance or exclusivity, and show that spirituality can be achieved by each and every one.

The Greatness of the Group

528.04Comment: When a person is in a group, he relaxes and it seems to him that he has already achieved everything. But when he goes outside the group, for some reason he gets a lot more trepidation.

My Response: Naturally, because he is no longer in a safe place where the group supports him. He understands that he is internally arranged in the same way as others. This feeling of herd mentality is required by a person at any level.

Question: Which condition is more important for a person?

Answer: To feel that you are in a group and at the same time outside of it and you need to constantly enter it. That’s the best part.

Comment: But you said that it’s better when a person feels worse than others. Everyone is organized, everyone is working great, but he does not measure up to them.

My Response: Everyone should have a subjective feeling that I’m worse than the others, all the others are in spiritual greatness, the whole group is a system of infinity and perfection, and I’m in it like some kind of underdeveloped organ that happened to be in it, and I have to quickly correct myself, and connect with everyone else.

I need to curry favor with my friends so that they don’t throw me out; I must please them in every possible way so that they accept me as one of their own. Moreover, I do it consciously. I’m really trying, I want and need to feel that way.

Comment: But it is impossible for a person to exist like this for a long time.

My Response: Why? Constantly. At the same time, he feels his perfection, perfection not at the expense of himself, but due to the fact that he belongs to the group, due to its greatness.

Question: When does a person begin to feel that they are in safe hands?

Answer: Only by annulling himself and dissolving into his friends does he feel that he is in safe hands and feels great on the account of the group, because he was able to annul himself before it. That is, we constantly have two opposite feelings in our spiritual state, when one determines the other.

The Behavior of a Kabbalist Determines the Goal

290Comment: It seems to me that you have a different attitude toward those you studied with and your students.

My Response: A student is a student. And with those with whom I studied with Rabash, we were more equal, even though there was no friendship between us. Unlike the others, I was always exclusively next to Rabash.

Of course, I treated them somehow differently, but I neither exalted nor belittled them. They knew something, but unfortunately, they did not implement it. That’s why I distanced myself from them without getting closer.

I am much closer to my students than to those who once studied with Rabash. I treat my students much better, with love.

Question: But couldn’t this be detrimental to the students? Or are you simply distancing yourself from them?

Answer: I am not distancing myself from anything. My work is my life, my world, I live within myself. I believe I should behave this way. Why should I act differently?

If you saw Rabash, he never embraced anyone. It was very rare to see him even shaking hands with his students or close ones. If a stranger approached him, of course, he would greet them with the usual human courtesy. But with the closed ones, he was absolutely ordinary. Moreover, with his students he was quite strict, even somewhat dry.

I subconsciously copy him in many ways, it happens involuntarily.

Question: And whom did he copy?

Answer: I don’t know if he copied anyone. In principle, the internal and spiritual qualities that form within you shape the way you relate to others in a certain way. You must behave this way and not otherwise because your inner traits hold you within these boundaries.

I don’t think I behave arrogantly. I just have my inner life, and I live in it. Externally, I act as I deem necessary for my spiritual existence. Basically, everything I do sets the goal, from pleasant to maybe outwardly unpleasant actions.

The Root of Dissemination

270Question: What is the root of the dissemination of the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: The connection of souls! After they were shattered and torn apart by mutual egoism, they must reunite. This is the Lego we need to assemble in order to attain the Creator who created this single soul.

Question: Why do other religious denominations also seek to disseminate their knowledge?

Answer: Every movement wants to expand, to be strong, influential, and powerful, and to absorb all the others. This is the natural egoistic desire of any teaching.

Question: How does Kabbalistic teaching differ from the egoistic expansion you just described?

Answer: The difference is that we do not specifically recruit anyone. We don’t need to! We only want a person to discover their purpose, how they can make their life good, even eternal and perfect. That’s all.

And how should they identify themselves? Not at all! They do not need to be called Jewish, Christian, Muslim, or a follower of anything. They will simply be kind and loving toward everyone.
