Inside a Sphere

264.01Expansion of the light means filling desires with light. Despite the fact that the light and the desire are opposite, they need each other simultaneously. After all, the light wishes to fill all creations, all desires. And the desire of the vessel, the Kli, is to be filled for its own sake.

Here arises a contradiction between them, and the light gradually corrects this desire so that from the state of being filled for oneself, it begins to understand that it is best to be filled for the sake of the light.

Question: Why does the by-product of the state of receiving for oneself manifest itself in our world as great forces of evil?

Answer: The fact is that we are interconnected parts of the system. So, if you do something for yourself, it goes to the detriment of others. No one can act in isolation from others; therefore, by not acting for the sake of others, you are acting to their detriment. That is the problem.

Question: Indeed, people do everything for themselves. I think any psychologist will confirm it. However, most people do not do evil to others. Yes, they receive for their own sake, but why is it called evil in Kabbalah?

Answer: If we saw the true picture of the world, we would understand how we constantly wish good for ourselves and, at the same time, necessarily cause harm to others.

Question: Even if I do nothing explicitly bad to others?

Answer: Even if you do not understand it. We are all in a closed system as if inside a sphere. And if you think only about yourself, you are definitely stealing from others.

This happens at the level of desires, thoughts, and actions. But we do not see these actions.

Question: Does it mean that even if I live on an uninhabited island, I still would cause harm to the whole system?

Answer: Yes. An enclosed system is totally closed in, and no one can disconnect themselves from it.

A Kind Word Is the Most Valuable

210Question: What satisfies a woman?

Answer: You need to say good words to women all of the time and nothing else. She doesn’t require much. Show her your affection, care, and love, and she will do everything for you.

I’m not talking about a woman like she is some kind of a pet. The female nature is such that she is ready to do everything for a good attitude from you. But this must be taught.

Question: What attracts men to women?

Answer: Care, affection, and warmth attract men. A woman can easily manage in life because she serves him; that is, she replaces his mother.

Question: What does it mean to love a woman?

Answer: Loving a woman means to feel that you need her and to show her that.

Spiritual Laboratory

938.03Comment: Sometimes you tell your students: You are an experimental group, and a methodology is being worked out on you.

My Response: I work with them. They are changing, and thus we can find out increasingly higher and deeper layers of nature.

I allow myself to open up to the extent that they change. Just like any teacher if he has more advanced students, he can talk to them on higher topics.

Question: What is best for you and your laboratory?

Answer: I wish they were at my level! That would be the best thing. We would do experiments together.

Question: If there are 10 to 20 people next to you who are in spiritual attainment, what is the benefit?

Answer: This would give a completely different exploration of the world. I would really like to have 10 to 20 such students so that all mankind will rise up! We would have been on a completely different degree already! It is a different dimension!

This is not our world, but the lowest state that we do not feel. What should we live for?! Not for the sake of our mortal body, but in order to exist on a spiritual level, in attainment, and in reciprocity!

Toward a Complete Picture of the World

508.2Question: To what extent do you feel this world? Is there still some sort of borderline? If some experts in their field come up to you and claim: “I am very good at it,” and you do not need to plunge into it. Is there any borderline here?

Answer: If specialists in something artificially created by man in any field come to me, then I can learn something from them for the purpose of dissemination. And for my personal spiritual elevation, I do not need any specialist.

But since I deal with teaching, that is, I turn to students, I am happy to meet with specialists. They help me find new examples and develop the language.

I published several books with psychologists. And I can also talk about Kabbalah with historians from a historical perspective, and so on. That is, I am ready to communicate with them.

Let the physicists come. It is more difficult to find a common language with them, but still it is possible somewhere on the so-called “periphery.” In other words, there is no common language inside physics and Kabbalah, but outside there is. For example, if physicists begin to tell me about all sorts of processes that take place in atoms, I will see them in the form of Reshimot, light, and Kli at different levels of entry and exit of the light when the screen expires, suppose from Tabur to Peh. It is interesting for me.

The same is true about chemistry, biology, zoology, and so on. The principle is the same! The exchange between plus and minus is all nature! There is nothing else. This is at different levels. After all, an electron, an atom is the basis of everything.

I have always strived for a complete picture of the world. A partial one never suited me. I could not stand a partial one! What is the point in sitting somewhere in a corner and picking at bugs there?! I could not stand it!

Only the general picture! Only the global one! You see, you understand, and you connect all the elements of the picture into one common whole, harmony, a huge panel, a palette of everything. It is breathtaking when everything opens up in front of you, and you see and feel it! It is fantastic!

The Fire We Come to Hell With

632.3Comment: There is a Sufi parable about a fool who met the ruler of Baghdad. The ruler asked the fool, “Where are you coming from?”

He said, “I’m coming from hell. I wanted to be given a fire to light my pipe there.”

The ruler asked him, “Well, have you found the fire?”

He said, ‘The ruler of hell told me that they have no fire. I asked him “Why is there no fire? This is hell!”

The ruler of hell told me, “Everyone comes here with their own fire.”’

My Response: Yes. Otherwise, how else will you get to hell?

Question: With what kind of fire in us do we come to hell?

Answer: With an egoistic one. There are two types of fire: black fire and white fire. The black fire with which a person wants to burn everything in order to acquire everything for himself is the fire with which we come to hell. If we come, God forbid, it burns us.

Question: What does it take to extinguish this fire?

Answer: Do not give it a place in yourself or in your heart. Rather, show everyone that you have a fire, but it is white and does not burn in hell; it burns only in a good connection between people.

Question: So when it says “I am burning in hell,” does it mean that I am burning in my own fire?

Answer: In your own egoism.

Question: Is it still possible to extinguish this fire?

Answer: Only if there is a good connection between people. Only through this feeling.

Question: How is this extinguished? What kind of water is this?

Answer: It is not water. Water is also used, of course, because water is the quality of bestowal. But in principle, this is extinguished only by changing the relationship between people from evil to good. And then this black fire turns into white.

Question: Is this the main task? But the fire still exists?

Answer: Yes. Fire is the basis of life. It exists.

“What is the Kabbalistic definition of light?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: What is the Kabbalistic definition of light?

Light is the force in nature that influences, governs, permeates and animates everything. All other forces that we observe in nature are derived from it.

We feel the light as a source of goodness, a law of nature, a powerful force and a great pleasure or fulfillment.

Based on KabTV’s “The Study of the Ten Sefirot (TES)” on January 15, 2023. Written/edited by students of Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman.

“New Antisemitism Needs Ancient Solution” (Times of Israel)

Michael Laitman, On The Times of Israel: “New Antisemitism Needs Ancient Solution

In an attempt to counter rapidly growing antisemitism in the country, the French government updated its plan to combat antisemitism to include training teachers and requiring students to visit sites of antisemitic or racist incidents.

The problem of rising antisemitism is hardly exclusive to France. We see this targeted hatred rising dramatically in many places. One may ponder why this age-old hatred does not go away despite initiatives like France’s Interministerial Delegation for the Fight Against Racism and Antisemitism (DILCRAH), which it adopted in 2015 and updates every three years, and the multiple efforts in other places in the world where Jews are persecuted.

Hatred toward the Jewish people has been a regularly recurring phenomenon over the course of history that started in ancient Babylon and has taken on many forms up to the current time when we see what we call the “new antisemitism” is the same old hatred clothed in new dressings.

Ancient Babylon was a time of great social turmoil marked by the shattering of the Tower of Babel when the Babylonians felt an outburst of the human ego and lost their ability to understand one another.

In response to the demands of the time around 4,000 years ago, a Babylonian priest named Abraham discovered a method for rising above humanity’s divisive inclinations to reveal the single unifying force of nature.

Essentially, Abraham led his followers on a path to the discovery of this uniting force of nature through work in practical actualization within the relationships between people who applied the principle, “love your neighbor as yourself.”

The uniqueness of the followers of Abraham was that they shared no biological roots. They came from among all the peoples, clans, and tribes of the region. They coalesced as a group formed of people from different nations in the area who were drawn together based on a unifying ideology and joined together by a commitment to work on themselves in order to attain the quality of love of others above the pressure toward social division that existed at that time.

The Jewish people became a nation through a pledge to be “as one man with one heart.” This common ideological connection among the people of Abraham was formalized into a binding covenant at the time of the reception of the Torah at the foot of Mount Sinai.

Since then, it has been our duty to maintain this connection between us and to pass it on to other peoples, a role that does not involve entitlement, but rather service to others. Therefore, it is the duty of the Jewish people to fulfill the law of love among ourselves and to set an example of this brotherly love to others.

Unfortunately, since the time this covenant was made, we have completely lost awareness of our Jewish unity, and in its place, frictions and separations prevail. However, this shared experience of attainment made an indelible impression on the Jewish soul that is so profound that it could never be erased.

Thus, we should not waste energy thinking about how to make small fixes here and there. Instead, we need to put all our effort into achieving unity. I am certain that if the few million Jews on the planet today would think about how to unite in order to do good to all of humanity, the unifying tendency would expand throughout the world and everyone would join in.

In short, humanity will be able to connect on the condition that the people of Israel unite. Today, however, Jews are more divided than any other people. Therefore, antisemitism will gradually gain force and acquire forms that will unpleasantly compel us to unite. Eventually, an inner perception will form within Jews that we need to be closer to each other. And by finally doing so, we will save ourselves and the whole of humanity from all hatred, division, and crisis.

More on the subject in my book, New Antisemitism: Mutation Of A Long-Lived Hatred.

Why Are Bina and Malchut Represented by the Same Letter?

232.08Question: Why are Bina and Malchut represented by the same letter?

Answer: It is a consequence of the distribution of light in desire. Bina is the highest desire, Malchut is the lowest desire. But from the Creator’s side, it is almost the same.

Question: But Bina and Malchut have different qualities: Bina is giving, Malchut is receiving. Why do they have the same shape?

Answer: But not from the Creator’s side. From the Creator’s side they are the same, but from the creation’s side they are different.

Is Our Future a War for Peace?

294.1Question: Igor writes: “Dear Michael Laitman, you have said many times that there is always an answer from the Creator, but we do not hear it. On the other hand, you say that all this horror that is happening today is for us to come to a dead end from our squabbling with each other and raise a prayer. Please explain to me, does the Creator still answer us all the time, or does He not answer and wait for our prayer in order to answer it?”

Answer: This is a tricky question. I would say that the Creator, in general, expects us to ask Him the correct question, to want the correct answer. That is, let’s assume He wants us to clearly ask: “What do we need to do in order to live in peace?”

Question: One way or another, will this happen if we feel that we are at a dead end and we cannot live in peace? Is this where the question arises from?

Answer: Yes. How can we live in peace?

Comment: But it will already be a scream.

My Response: No, humanity is not screaming. I do not see anyone screaming. Humanity is only waiting for everyone to look right, to suppress the other.

Question: So when will it start asking? When will it turn to the Creator correctly?

Answer: When it will feel that it is necessary to live by the rules, by the laws, of nature. People do not want that yet.

Question: What needs to happen for this?

Answer: I want the correct, cosmic vision of the world to manifest within me. I want my mind, my feelings, my strength, everything to be directed toward feeling nature and wanting to agree with it.

Question: Does it mean that you want this little world of mine to expand up to the universe?

Answer: Otherwise nothing will happen. Precisely because I agree only to my little world, and everything else is not important to me, and even let it all get even worse is why I do not see a solution.

Question: So, if I have a thought like: “I only want to feel good, and for this I live,” is this thought flawed?

Answer: It has already exhausted itself. We see what is going on. The world can plunge into such a wild squabble that there will be, as they say, a war for peace.

Question: But all this is in the hands of the Creator. Why will He not make us ask now, right now? Already all the conditions seem to be there.

Answer: He is making it so that we would ask, but we do not want to.

Question: Are we resisting even at this moment?

Answer: We do not want to. We are ready to do everything in order to put pressure on everyone.

Question: Then tell me, how do you see this turning point inside us when we suddenly start to want?

Answer: It will appear gradually. After all, it emerges from all this hopelessness.

Question: Do you think that suffering accumulates in humanity and in a person? Or does it simply disappear, like in the sand?

Answer: We need to look mainly at humanity and see how it slowly, gradually understands that this is not the way.

Question: Then I still come back to this question. Does the Creator answer us all the time, but we do not hear? At the same time, do we need to be pressed against the wall so that we raise a prayer, and He would answer us?

Answer: The Creator pushes us so that we recognize that there must be a correct answer, and it must be even against our nature. But we have to want to make a decision that is above us.

Question: Does it turn out that we have not grown up to it yet?

Answer: No. No one has grown up to it!
