Michael Laitman, On Quora: “How do I get my prayers answered?“

The Creator hears every request, demand and cry—every prayer. But indeed, which ones does He answer?

Our prayers get answered to the extent in which our prayers align with the Creator’s plan and His wishes for us.

What does the Creator wish for us? He wishes for us to positively connect with each other in equivalence with His very quality of love.

No matter how conflicted, divided and hateful we might be toward each other, we will all have to mature and realize the loftiest state that has been prepared for us: one of absolute love for each other.

Love comes about when we undergo a revolutionary shift in our attitudes to each other. It is when we become supportive and encouraging of one another and when we each aim to fulfill each other. In other words, love is when we switch from thinking only about ourselves to thinking about benefiting everyone outside of us.

A prayer to reach such love gets answered. However, it needs to be from the depths of the heart, that we genuinely want only the best for others, and not that we just say words in that vein.

Michael Laitman, On Quora: “What are some characteristics of the 20th Century?“

Mid-20th Century, humanity started feeling that it was entering into a meaningless period of existence. Social and political scientists started realizing that humanity was losing the hope for a happier, better and easier future, which it once had.

Before that time, if people had no aspirations for some kind of spiritual fulfillment, then they aspired for material fulfillment. People were more interested in art and culture, and hoped for a change in the social order in order to safeguard their later years. In other words, people had a few needs from life and the world, and trusted that they would find fulfillment and happiness in the future.

Until the mid-20th Century, the human ego was undergoing constant growth, and it motivated people to regularly seek out new and different kinds of fulfillment. Humanity thus ran around like a dog chasing its tail. However, since the mid-20th Century, the hope faded. The dog no longer sees the tail it was chasing. It no longer knows where to run. It is confused. This period started becoming prominent from the mid-20th Century, and it has become a defining characteristic of humanity’s current state.

Medium published my new article “Decoding the Human Genome — the More We Know, the Less We Understand”

In recent weeks, newspapers and scientific magazines hailed the completion of the mapping of the human genome. Smithsonian Magazine exclaimed, “Scientists have deciphered the missing eight percent of our genetic blueprint, setting the stage for new discoveries in human evolution and disease.” Time Magazine festively quoted Evan Eichler, one of the leaders of the mapping project, “The excitement in the genomic and medical community is palpable. ‘Hallelujah, we finally finished one human genome, but the best is yet to come,’ Eichler said during a briefing. ‘No one should see this as the end, but the beginning of a transformation not only in genomic research but in clinical medicine as well.’”

It is great that we have “Sequenced a ‘Gapless’ Human Genome,” as Smithsonian Magazine described it, but reality shows that the more we know, the less we understand. Decoding the human genome might help solve some problems, but it will not make our lives easier or happier. Since we have no understanding of our surroundings, we don’t understand the context by which our genes evolved and how they operate in relation to the environment. Therefore, all the formulas and knowledge will be swallowed in the abyss of our incomprehension of reality, and we will deepen and worsen our problems through our own doing.

Every single gene that is encoded into us is there for a reason. If we alter or manipulate it, we will alter everything connected to it. Nature does not create malfunctions on purpose. It only mends. Therefore, when we try to “mend” nature, we invariably spoil what was not broken except we could not see it because of our blindness.

Our sages in the Babylonian Talmud (Shabbat 156a) wrote that if a person is born with the nature of a killer, he may become a murderer or a thief, or a butcher or one who performs circumcision. In other words, we should not try to change people’s basic characteristics, but only use them where they help all of society.

Instead of trying to modify people’s genes, we should teach them how to use their innate nature for the benefit of society rather than to harm it. To do that, we should create a social atmosphere where those who contribute to it are the most respected, venerated, and admired people.

Currently, the “leaders” of society are narcissists who appreciate nothing but themselves and aspire to be as “unique” as possible, or those who exploit society to gain wealth, power, and clout. When these are the people that everyone admires, society cannot but disintegrate. The self-centered values that everyone tries to follow divide society and break it into smaller and smaller pieces. Finally, everyone will be left to fend for themselves. They will feel that they have no one close to them, and anyone is a potential enemy. In such a state, the only escapes from misery will be drugs and suicide.

Leaders will not change themselves. They are leaders only because we ourselves are like them, so we venerate people who excel in how we would like to be. Therefore, we should not wait for the idols of society to change. Instead, we should change who we are, and as we change ourselves, the personas that we idolize will change, as well, and new values will take center stage.

Once we change the values of society, we will discover that there is nothing inherently wrong with any of us. Our only flaw was how we used what was instilled in us by nature. In other words, the intention behind our actions was the culprit, not our DNA.

Because our current intentions are only for self-aggrandizement, everything that we discover and develop is harmful to society. And because we live in the society we harm, the very society that nourishes and sustains us, everything we develop and discover ends up harming us.

We need not change what we are, but who we are. Our problem is not what we do, but why we do it. If we work in order to benefit the society we live in, we will benefit ourselves.

It takes a joint effort to transition from our narcissistic mindset, but the global situation is already so poor that I think we have no choice, and no time to waste.

In the News (Reuters): “A group of more than 100 billionaires and millionaires has issued a plea to political and business leaders convening virtually for the World Economic Forum: make us pay more tax.

“The group calling itself the “Patriotic Millionaires” said that the ultra-wealthy were not currently being forced to pay their share of the global economic recovery from the pandemic.

“‘As millionaires, we know that the current tax system is not fair. Most of us can say that, while the world has gone through an immense amount of suffering in the last two years, we have actually seen our wealth rise during the pandemic – yet few if any of us can honestly say that we pay our fair share in taxes,’ the signatories said in an open letter, published on the occasion of the World Economic Forum’s ‘virtual Davos’…

“Reuters reported last year on the staggering rise in billionaires’ wealth in 2020, as the world went into lockdown and the global economy faced its worst recession since World War Two, prompting the millionaires’ group to call for higher taxes. …

“Over the course of the two years of the pandemic, the fortunes of the world’s 10 richest individuals have risen to $1.5 trillion – or by $15,000 a second – a study by Oxfam this week showed. …

“According to a study conducted by the Patriotic Millionaires together with Oxfam and other non-profits, a progressive wealth tax starting at 2% for those with more than $5 million and rising to 5% for billionaires could raise $2.52 trillion, enough globally to lift 2.3 billion people out of poverty and guarantee healthcare and social protection for individuals living in lower income countries.”

My Response: You can count even more. Where do they get these billions from? They collected this from all the poor, from the oppressed.

Question: So you would like to go deeper, to the basics?

Answer: I don’t want to deal with these matters! But humanity must still put things in order for once. How can it be that one person has billions, not only billions but even more, that is not taxed at all?! Not taxable! They officially create enterprises that initially pay zero taxes! Zero taxes! How can this be?! And an ordinary person pays 20%, 30%, to 40% in taxes.

Why?! They can then scream beautifully: “Take taxes from us! We do not know what to do with our billions! Do me a favor! We beg you!” The beautiful duplicity of our world.

Question: But does this decision of theirs at least please you?

Answer: They are doing it in advance. Overtaking, as if on the run, in front of the chariot, which descends after them from the mountain.

Question: That is, this chariot, as it were, hints at the fact that now they will take 10%?

Answer: I would charge them 90%. Why not a progressive tax?

Question: So the conclusion is that you do not see much progress in this?

Answer: I do not see any progress in this. I see duplicity in this, an abomination! And they still do not even know what they look like in the eyes of the masses.

Question: That is, they are not benefactors of the people?

Answer: No.

Question: Is it ever possible to send a message that I am not doing all this on my own account?

Answer: This will never happen voluntarily. Never! And do not hope that it will!

Question: Then will everything always lead to some kind of revolution?

Answer: If it continues until such a time, yes. Or it will still break through because the personality develops in a person and he will yet be able to understand what the methodology, practice, and goal of the development of the world are.

Question: Can it come to a rich person who has a lot of money?

Answer: No. He has it closed.

Question: Here they write the words “fairness” and “fairly.” What does “justice” mean to you?

Answer: In fairness, this can only be in proportion to the bestowal from a person to the world. This is justice. Nothing else.

Question: How much can I give to the world as much as possible?

Answer: Yes.

Question: What do you mean by bestowal?

Comment: Victoria writes: “We gathered for prayer, a thousand women from all over the world. We speak different languages, we are of different religions, faiths, and skin colors. But today, everyone had one request. Suddenly I felt, and this has never happened to me before, that we are one woman. I also felt that the Creator is here. Is it possible, or does it just seem to me?”

My Response: This is absolutely so! Not even “it seems” and not “maybe,” but this is how it is!

Any person who will participate in this and especially a thousand women, when they ask the upper force completely unaware of how and what they are turning to but they want to, with their desire, they can open the heavens.

This is what war exists for: to show us what we have to do in order to defeat these terrible conditions that nature gives us.

Question: And this is what women must do, connect as one woman?

Answer: Yes. And men should do the same, connect as one man.

Question: Is it correct that these states come and go? Is this how it should be?

Answer: Of course. They come gradually, in waves, until we accumulate a certain number of requests and appeals, and turn them all to the Creator. Then it will work out.

Question: Victoria also writes: “I felt that the Creator is here.” What is it like when a person feels that the Creator is here? Is this an illusion?

Answer: No, what she felt was correct.

Comment: But a person does not know what the Creator is.

My Response: It does not matter at all. Gradually, one will know. Just like everything else in our world. We do not know and suddenly it begins to appear. Then we begin to get used to it, attract it, bring it closer, and that is it. This is how we begin to get acquainted with this phenomenon.

Question: The true feeling when a person can say that the Creator is here is the feeling of the Creator’s qualities?

Answer: Yes, when He enters a person. There is a certain glow, a field that appears in people. This is the appearance of the Creator to the people.

My Response: Or maybe they will not. In fact, when you show love it’s somehow disarming. What can this opponent do and what can he give? And then there is already some kind of confusion. You should try it.

Question: So you think that if in spite of everything one directs love to another, it can disarm?

Answer: We need to choose the right moment and we need to first check with whom and how to show it. It is not necessary that you get the right reverse attitude from the other. But in general this is a good technique.

Question: So you have to be careful, but you should use this technique? Sooner or later, do you think it will be the main method of humanity?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Why?

Answer: Because love disarms and deprives others as well as yourself of the evil energy.

Question: Why can’t we do it today? We really want to and cannot.

Answer: We are not accustomed to this. This should be included in the methods of upbringing. I had a very interesting case in my youth. I bullied one girl and brought my fist to her nose. She kissed it and it shocked me! I still can’t forget about it!

It was 65 to 70 years ago. Imagine! And to this day when I remember it, I feel how unexpected it was for me and how it simply disarmed me. I didn’t know what to do. I stood as confused as if a tub of dirt had been poured on me! I felt who I was. This is terrible! And such a simple action without words, without anything.

The state is terrible!

Comment: It is terrible, but it seems necessary. And it remains in a person for the rest of his life?

My Response: Yes, it is in me! It comes back to my memories.

Question: Irma asks: “Why is the feeling of the end of the world so sweet, that it is here on the doorstep?”

Answer: For her, the end of the world is the end of suffering, confusion, disappointment, all sorts of obstacles, resistances, everything. Many people would like to die quietly, peacefully. Let me just forget and sleep.

Question: Leave me finally alone. And that is why the feeling of the end of the world is sweet?

Answer: Yes.

Question: And what of it? How to emerge out of this sweetness or what to do?

Answer: There is no end of the world at all. There is a transition from this state, which we call our world, to the next state, to another world, to the next degree, to another universe. Here we go to another world.

Question: Does this sweet sensation give us something? Does it encourage us to do something?

Answer: Of course. We have nothing to be afraid of. We just need to move toward it consciously.

Question: Go to the end of the world?

Answer: Yes. This egoistic world of ours must end. And instead of it, there will be an altruistic world, a connection above our egoism.

In the News (Daily Mail): “Earth is getting its own ‘Black Box’ that will track climate change and other man-made perils – and potentially document civilisation’s downfall.

“Built ‘to outlive us all’, the 32-foot-long indestructible steel monolith, based in Tasmania, Australia, will be filled with hard drives documenting an ‘unbiased account of the events that lead to the demise of the planet’.

“It will capture scientific data on temperature, sea levels, atmospheric CO2 and many more metrics to provide a document of how humanity failed to avoid a climate disaster.

“Researchers see it as akin to a black box in aviation, which records the performance and condition of an aircraft to provide vital information in case of accidents. “

Comment: It feels like we’re on a plane; we are flying, and the black box is recording something, and we already are starting to crash.

My Response: And we want to send a telegram to Earth.

Question: Yes, and we want to send a telegram: look, this is how we are living and you can’t live like this.

How would you decode this?

Answer: It causes an apocalyptic state. That is, I know in advance that we will die, that we will not exist. Not just me, but the whole civilization, everything.

And in this case maybe we will not leave something even for the grandchildren, because they will not be there, but for someone there. Some humanoids will land on our Earth, dig up our black box, look at it and say: “Ay-ay-ay!”

Comment: But it says here that this is our future civilization; in the future someone will still remain after this downfall.

My Response: And what’s next? What will they see? What kind of idiots we were?

Question: Will they draw any conclusions from these mistakes?

Answer: To do this, we need to tell them about the essence of our life, about the forces that control us and why we cannot make a normal society out of ourselves. After all, everything depends only on us. Why can’t we bring ourselves to normal relationships, mutual support, communication, and so on? It is only because of this, it is because of our inability to unite together—although no one is stopping us except ourselves—we cannot create a normal civilization.

Question: Should they understand that this is the only reason we died?

Answer: It is because we couldn’t cope with ourselves. Yes, it’s generally terrible to tell some future generation who we are, what we have come to, to what level we have developed, that we know about our future demise and can’t do anything about it.

And at the same time we are proud of what we have in our hands: what bombs, what sciences, and so on. But in fact we can’t use anything for the real good of people, only to everyone’s detriment.

Question: I don’t even want to say that this civilization will perish. And will the people of the future understand this? Will they understand it themselves or do we have to transmit it to them now?

Answer: It won’t help.

Question: So they have to come to this by themselves?

Answer: Of course. I wouldn’t do that at all. I wouldn’t leave this black box. I would still try to bring people to the fact that they are in a dead end development.

We must use ourselves to the end in order to raise humanity to the next level of correct, kind cooperation.

Question: In your opinion does such a recorder not give anything to the future generation. Will it give us nothing?

Answer: No. Even today we find all sorts of cave writings and the Qumran records from the Dead Sea in which they recorded that we are the last generation here and there will be nothing more, and so on. So what?

Question: Nothing. What conclusion can be drawn? Don’t leave any boxes, do you think?

Answer: Do not leave anything, but do everything now. Humanity must understand that the future is in our hands in any case. We can change it, and it depends on us. Only on us.

Question: If now I will advance to this future, as you say, of good relations and connections, and so on, will I see and feel it all now?

Answer: Yes.

Question: No death and after death?

Answer: Nothing at all! To rise above our animal life and death to the level of immortality.
