The Great Game Of Nature

238.01Comment: Now in our generation, simultaneously with emptiness, there is an aspiration for something that a person is not yet aware of. Then, as Baal HaSulam said, it turns out that all this is a game, as in the parable with the slave.

My Response: Of course, this is a great game of nature or the Creator. Nature and the Creator are one and the same.

As a result, we will all laugh at what happened, the way we laughed at ourselves when we were little children, grew up, got confused, played, fell, disassembled, and re-assembled something not knowing what and how. But thanks to such a farce, during many years of development we become adults. We never know what we are doing.

Look at a small child. Does he know anything? But he makes some attempts all the time. In principle, our development is very incomprehensible. It should be incomprehensible. That is what is interesting!

How can I understand in advance my next state if it is more developed than the present one?! In a day or in a minute or in a year I must be better, taller, stronger than today; that is, I must be more developed.

How can I understand it now?! With my mind, I cannot! How then can I achieve it? It is through this messy, diffuse movement.

To us, it seems disorderly, because we do not realize with our brains that there is a magnificent order, a higher harmony, a harmony of a higher level, but I still do not understand it. It appears to me as utter nonsense. We look at the children: “This is creepy! Look what they do!”

I recently watched my grandson. For half an hour, he walked and collected pinecones under the trees, and then scattered them, then collected them again and scattered them again.

Well, collect it once and that is it! No. His nature drives him all the time, pushes him to such interesting actions.

Shamati—A Guide To Spiritual States

216.03Question: I began to feel and recognize new spiritual states while studying the wisdom of Kabbalah. How can reading Shamati help me process them?

Answer: Shamati is attained gradually. You are twenty years old today and by studying the method with us in about ten years you will understand what this book is about, its depth, and then begin to find similar states in you.

The book will be like a guide to spiritual states for you according to your soul. Reading it will make everything turn over in you, not psychologically like in a novel, but as the revelation of different states and angles in you, and then you will begin to feel the upper world. This is how the book will work, gradually.

Everyone Has Their Own Soul

514.02Question: Based on what do you think that is necessary to change schools and the approach to education?

Answer: I proceed from Kabbalah. My basis is Kabbalah. I see the ongoing process and its next stage also, I understand their purpose. Therefore, if we do something with violence, then everything will turn out bad for us. We have no right to do this to our children!

I personally left regular school and attended evening school for the last few years. Also, at university for the last two years I attended evening classes, not the daytime.

So, I was free. I could not bear that pressure! I never put pressure on my children.

My eldest daughter, who attended a religious school, said in the eighth grade that she wanted to be a geneticist. I agreed for her to go to a regular school. She graduated from it, received a diploma, and entered university. She is now in charge of the genetics laboratory at the Tel HaShomer hospital in Israel.

My second daughter graduated from school with a design bias. I remember the beautiful medieval dresses she sewed for her exam. Then, literally in the last year of school, she became interested in Kabbalah. Without my intervention. She entered Tel Aviv University’s Department of Philosophy and Kabbalah.

That is, I let the children develop as they wished. You cannot put pressure on children! It is said: “Raise the youth along his path.”(Prov 22:6). Each has his own soul. How can I push?!

Question: But did this come to you after you began to study Kabbalah?

Answer: If I had not studied Kabbalah, none of this would have happened, of course.

No Pleasure Greater Than Reconciling Opposites

232.031Comment: You said that reconciling the opposites is the greatest pleasure in the world. There is no greater pleasure.

Answer: Yes. It is said that “There is no greater pleasure than reconciling opposites.”

Contradiction is the state when you cannot decide anything, you are as if squeezed by pliers. You do not know where the truth is, where the lie is, you do not know how to behave. Yet, you must resolve this contradiction.

When it is resolved, it feels like the greatest pleasure.

Question: Where is the Creator in this picture?

Answer: When a person asks the Creator to help him reconcile contradictions, then it is in their reconciliation that he attains the Creator. That is why they are given to us.

The opposite states are intentionally included in nature in order for us to come to such a feeling that we need their common source—the Creator. Then we turn to Him so that He Himself would reconcile these contradictions for us.

Breathe The Light Of Life Into Each Other

507.03For the people of our world, the rule “love your neighbor as yourself” is so disgusting, boring, already tried, and does not attract anyone.

In reality, love your neighbor implies a state where we unite together like small dots, small elements of the universe, into one single mosaic, into one single picture, gathered into one system, and we start working with each other in it like cells in a common body.

And then, from a dead organism that we are today in separation, we turn into a living organism.

If you cut off pieces from the body and divide it into elements, it dies. Therefore, you must collect them. To the extent that you try to do this, the Creator breathes into you the light of life, the spirit of life.

It turns out that we need to yearn for each other, for a universal mutual connection. We will thus restore our common body, our common soul, by connecting with each other.

Question: How do we yearn for this?

Answer: On one hand, we are driven by evil, emptiness, disappointment in this existence, fear of what will happen tomorrow, and disappointment with the kind of world we leave to our children.

On the other hand, from this emptiness inside, an aspiration for something appears. A person begins to feel: “I have been pulled toward something! There is a vector in me that works that looks for something.”

This was not the case before. This is happening right now, in our generation. Together with emptiness, with general depression, there is also a quest, an aspiration for something. A person begins to realize that all this is not as it is and that there is something, somewhere, waiting especially for me.

Our current state has been specially adjusted for us so that we can get out of it and move on. Therefore, our generation is a transition.

Feel Responsible For Everyone

117Question: In order to feel the network of connection between us, we must be in a state of mutual guarantee. What is this feeling when I am responsible for others?

Answer: I am responsible for others means that I must fulfill my part in this network as if I am fully responsible for it.

This means that each of us from his own point, from his own node, in this network is in control of it. It is controlled through me, through you, through him, through everyone. But it is done on the basis of his specific personal point. Therefore, everyone is responsible for it, meaning, for the entire world.

Every person feels this. As he progresses to this state, he begins to feel that he is attaining this network, this soul, and it is his inner state.

At the same time, each one is responsible for gathering everyone together into one single network of connection, and for spreading the quality of bestowal and love through this network.

Question: Does it mean that I am responsible for the revelation of the Creator to other people?

Answer: Yes.

Question: What are the states that are accompanied by the feeling of the Creator?

Answer: Warm, mutual states: a feeling of eternity, perfection, mutual support, mutual care. That is, this is completely opposite to what we usually feel in our world.

Question: What if I cannot be responsible all the time?

Answer: This is attained gradually and is called the process of correcting a person.

Question: I see that other people are hurting, there are diseases and wars. Does it mean that I feel that I am responsible for this? This is scary.

Answer: Whether this is scary or not is not the question. It is about whether this is true or not. When a person begins to comprehend that the network of common connection depends on him, it means that at the same time he has the opportunity to feed it with the good force.

Justify The Creator

213It is not so easy to justify the Creator because we constantly have complaints that arise from our being opposite to Him. The Creator is one, one and unique, and to the extent we make ourselves the same single whole, we will be able to feel, understand, and justify Him.

But each time we proceed from separation because otherwise we would not be able to feel the concept of unity since light can only be seen out of darkness. Only from the contrast of opposites is reality felt, both one pole and the other, both light and darkness.

It is impossible to see darkness in the dark or light in the light but only one against the other. Therefore, we can justify the Creator only on the condition that we unite. To the extent that in our connection we discover the concept of unity, we will be able to justify the Creator and the creation created by Him. After all, creation is what is outside of Him.

Therefore, He created the whole world in the form of separation, distance, and shattering, the egoistic forces. And all this in order to give us the opportunity to connect all these opposites with bonds of love and to understand from them the essence of connection, which is the Creator. This is how we attain Him.

The Creator is one, single, and only force apart from which there is nothing. And these concepts are understood only from the work on separation. Therefore, contrasts and opposites are becoming more and more apparent and sharpened in our world.

Each person, as he develops, reveals in himself more and more opposite qualities, thoughts, and even disagreements with himself and more so with others. It is difficult for him to understand others and connect with them.

This development is designed to reveal how different our thoughts, desires, and actions are so that over all these differences we unite and cover all our sins with love. By realizing the difference between the state of complete separation, opposition, conflict, and the state of connection—between these two broken and corrected systems—we will be able to understand, feel, and attain the essence of the Creator in mind and in sensations.

This is revealed precisely from the combination of two opposite systems, and then we see the benefits in everything that the Creator has prepared for us.

Therefore, you can justify the Creator only by combining opposites together and not canceling anything. On the contrary, we are increasingly discovering differences and connecting over them with faith above reason. We thus add a common space, created at our request, where the opposites connect.

And if we do not do this, if we do not ask the Creator to establish peace between us, a complete union, then we will not know what the Creator is—a level above the opposition.

The opposition remains, it does not need to be destroyed and eliminated. Only in this way will we understand the meaning of creation and why the Creator created us exactly like this, opposite to each other. Today, we reveal this oppositeness everywhere, all over the world, to the point that we are unable to get along with each other. We need to teach everyone how to reach the right connection and get closer to each other. Otherwise, the world will fall apart. This is the sign of our time—of the last generation.

“Can People Really Possess Supernatural Powers?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Can people really possess supernatural powers?

Throughout history, several people have made claim to supernatural powers. These people divide into two groups: One tries to do something with these supernatural powers, and usually it doesn’t go so well for them and even boomerangs negatively back to them. The other group knows that they have such supernatural powers and they do not use them because it is no good to use such powers despite possessing them. Nature gives certain people powers in order to progress humanity.

What can we do with supernatural powers?

“Supernatural” means that we see no relationship between cause and effect. The actual connection exists, only we don’t see it… at least, for the time being.

Can any person acquire supernatural powers or is it a gift from above only for some people? There are certain people who are closer to supernatural powers and those that are further away. It’s a matter of fate.

What if someone walks in and asks: “Dr. Laitman, I want to develop supernatural powers, what do I have to do?” My answer is that you need to acquire sublime qualities. Your nature is egoistic, so you need to acquire qualities that are above the ego—qualities of love, giving, concern for others, and positive connection with others.

What is so powerful about the force of love and giving?

Simply put, when we attain it, we receive an interconnected and interdependent sensation of reality. Then we start identifying with the wholeness and perfection of the reality surrounding us. Instead of wanting to change reality to benefit ourselves, we think in an opposite way: how to change ourselves to adapt to the wholeness and perfection of reality.
