Space For A Priest

laitman_276_03Torah, “Numbers,” 18:20: The Lord said to Aaron, “You shall not inherit in their land, and you shall have no portion among them. I am your inheritance and portion among the children of Israel.”

A priest is a property of pure bestowal within a person and within a society.

In the corporeal world priests always received a part from taxes collected from the people. A priest’s entire life was devoted to serving in the Temple, education, and governing the Levites, whereas the Levites’ task was educating the entire nation.

Thus a multi-step structure was created: priests, Levites, Israel. In this way they served one another. Corporeality was ascending from bottom up; spirituality was descending from above down. Similarly, everything is organized within a person, in his soul, and in his people.

It is said, “I am your inheritance and portion among the children of Israel.” This is why the property of bestowal is the only space where a priest exists.

Preventing World War Three – Part 2 “We Need The Good Force!”

laitman_546_02Question: What does Kabbalah say about the possibility of a third world war?

Answer: In the 1920s, when scientists had only just begun to develop nuclear weapons, the greatest Kabbalist of the 20th century, Baal HaSulam, wrote in his book The Last Generation that if humanity wouldn’t come to its senses and activate the method of self-correction to balance the positive and negative forces in each of us, in society, and in the world, it would inevitably lead to nuclear war.

But the one who is wise sees in advance what can happen, and so he avoids impending disasters; they are not necessary. He has a presentiment of the approaching suffering, and this helps him choose another way, the way of the correction of his nature.

So for humanity there are two ways: either accept and implement the method of self-correction or reach this through a path of great suffering and immense destruction!

This will engulf both Europe and Russia, and, of course, the entire Middle East.

Question: Are there analytical approaches of the Kabbalists to the text of the Book of Revelations, or do they see only hidden meanings in the prophecies?

Answer: In these texts there are no hidden meanings! What they say is derived simply and easily from the wisdom of Kabbalah. I repeat; we have two possibilities!

  • We correct ourselves and become a society in which good and evil become balanced, and live with each other in a harmony that extends to the surrounding world on all levels: still, vegetative, and animate.
  •  Or like farm boys, we begin beating each other up until only a small group of people remain on the scorched and exhausted Earth. And then those who survive will begin to build a proper society in which good and evil will be balanced.

So everything depends on our freedom of choice! Do we choose the way of reforming our nature, balancing ourselves and in this way all of society, which mainly encompasses three continents: Europe, Russia, and America, or do we to continue to go blindly onward, playing with only one force, one against the other?

Question: In the Book of Revelations, what does the opening of the seals symbolize?

Answer: These seals are the hidden characteristics of nature, which we can bring out for our correction.

Question: These seals are not opened yet?

Answer: Everything depends on us!

The wisdom of Kabbalah has already been revealed to the people. This makes it possible for us to attain all the sources for the good force that exist in the world, but we don’t discover them. They are sealed, it is necessary to open them, and then the good force will appear and balance our evil egoistic force.

Question: In the Book of Revelations, the opening of the seals leads to new events regarding the end of the world. Maybe it would be better not to open them?

Answer: No! We need the good force! We need to understand the text correctly. I use the Kabbalistic sources and rely on them. Again I say: There are no problems here. This possibility is in our hands. We are not blind puppets on strings, in the hands of nature. We can do this! It is in our power.

The Great Kabbalists And Their Works

laitman_527_07The wisdom of Kabbalah was first discovered 5,776 years ago by a man named Adam, who described what he discovered in his book The Angel Raziel. Since then, there have been many generations of Kabbalists and everything they did until our very days is incorporated into one system.

The Kabbalists were a different sort of person and each of them engaged in this wisdom in his own special way: some engaged in a certain special way of attaining the wisdom of Kabbalah, others wrote it on certain levels, and others’ goal was to attract as many people as possible to the revelation of this system of Providence. These Kabbalists are particularly important and dear to us, because with their help, we can achieve what are beginning to strive for.

Throughout human history most Kabbalists wrote on a level that today we find difficult to understand, but the greatest Kabbalist who lived in the 16th century the Ari really managed to summarize and present this wisdom.

He brought a great treasure of knowledge to the system and we have received a ready-made matrix from him, which the whole wisdom of Kabbalah is based on. Many before him had tried to do that but did not succeed.

This is the reason that there isn’t anyone closer in spirit to us than the Ari and everything he did is most important to us. He died at a very young age of 38 and left his legacy for all of us.

400 years after the Ari, at the beginning of the 20th century another great Kabbalist named Baal HaSulam appeared. None of the Kabbalists who lived before him managed to convey the Ari’s method and teachings in a more popular and accessible manner as Baal HaSulam Ari did. This is the reason that we use the writings of Baal HaSulam, which were written in relatively simple modern language. His writings are the mainstay of our studies.

In addition, his eldest son Rabash, my teacher, completed his father’s writings adding the principles of our internal work. Baal HaSulam wrote mainly about the system of the upper world and its internal psychology. And my teacher explained in his articles how we can practically begin to feel the upper world, what we should do to actually feel it and to absorb it into us, and how to create new senses and thus advance.

If we didn’t have Rabash’s writings, we could read the writings of Baal HaSulam and enjoy the logic of his simple beautiful and harmonious description of the upper world and the effect of this system on us, but we would not know how to attain it. All this is explained in the writings of my teacher.

Kabbalists describe the upper world and our world, which is the lowest and smallest level that is detached from the spiritual world, which work in perfect harmony.

The only resemblance to this system in our world is the perfectly corrected human body, in which the heart and mind and all the systems like the circulatory, nervous, lymphatic, and other systems operate in harmony, in unison.

They support each other, nothing is superfluous, and only the correct mutual functioning creates the opportunity to experience the entire system and study it.

Depression—An Illness Of Lack Of Meaning In Life

Dr. Michael LaitmanComment: One of our listeners wrote that his child has no interest in life and says that he wants to die.

Answer: An aspiration for something else that is beyond this life is already appearing in the world and is especially apparent among children. Previously there was never such a problem as childhood depression. But today it is appearing at a very young age.

Depression among adults didn’t exist 100 years ago either. It appeared as minor sadness or melancholy because of boredom, especially among the nobility. But it has manifested intensively only in our time. And this disease is a lack of meaning in life, and many people suffer from it.

However, this is also progress since nature intentionally arouses such sensations in us.

Question: How long does it take a person to reach a state in which he can look at his body as if it were a foreign object, as if it were a little puppy by his side?

Answer: This is independent of time, since the wisdom of Kabbalah has become part of our lives in the 20th century, people are continuously developing internally. So it is impossible to say now how long it will take every individual to reach that state.

A person who reaches it now may have tried to attain it for years, while it may take someone who comes five or ten years from now only a couple of months. People are born today with a different potential of spiritual power, and in a couple of months, they perceive what took us years.

Mistaken Concern At The European Jewish Congress

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (russian-bazaar):  “The president of the European Jewish Congress (EJC) Moshe Kantor expressed concern about the significant increase of anti-Semitism on the continent at the first annual colloquium on the issue of respect for fundamental rights in the EU, where he spoke on behalf of the European Jews.

“‘”The refugee problem has become a serious test for Europe. But Europe does not go a day without an even more serious test – said Kantor. – Earlier this year, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said after bloody anti-Semitic violence in the supermarket “Hyper Kasher” in Paris that “if 100,000 Jews were to leave France, France will no longer be France. This would mean the collapse of the French Republic.

“‘I would go even further and say that if hundreds of thousands of Jews leave the European Union, as is becoming increasingly likely, it would mean the collapse of the European Union. Over the past few years, tens of thousands of Jews left Europe in search of a safe haven, but today one third of the nearly 2.5 million Jews in Europe thinks about emigration. …'”

My Comment: Dr. Kantor should not worry about the future of Europe. But if the European Jewish Congress realized the true reasons for the growing global anti-Semitism, it could change the Jewish identity and thus change the whole world!

What Is Desirable To The Creator?

laitman_627_2Question: I quote from your book: “As its object of study, Kabbalah takes the only creation, the only thing that exists besides the Creator—man’s self, or “I,” and researches it. This science breaks down the self into parts, explains the structure and properties of each part, and the purpose of its creation.

Kabbalah explains how every part of man’s self, called “the soul,” can be changed so that one would reach the goal of creation, the state desired by both the Creator and man himself” (The Zohar, Page 34).

The question is: What does “desired by the Creator” mean? How can something be desirable or not desirable to the Creator if the Creator is not a personality?

Answer: It says to be desirable… because at the heart of creation is the Creator’s desire to delight the creatures.
