From the point of view of Kabbalah, we are talking about very large, serious processes in the souls. These are not heads or bodies, not our earthly minds or our qualities.

If we speak purely allegorically, then people, as if, are deprived of their minds. Only their bodies remain with them, which fall to the lowest level, the level of our world. They are deprived of the opportunity to rise spiritually, and thus they become spiritually dead.

By war we mean the war of the forces of good and evil, between which man is confined. In this war, everything depends on which way the action is going, what the scales are leaning toward.

And a voice called out to me: “I am the Lord, God, who governs the world with great mercy. Reach out your hand and take the sword, for now I have given you power and might.” … “I will make you a great sage and all the sages of the land shall be blessed in you, for I have chosen you for a righteous sage in all this generation, to heal the human suffering with lasting salvation.”

Baal HaSulam reveals his mission. The Creator, instead of sending an angel to take off heads, gives him a double-edged sword so that by the force of this sword, only by a reasonable, correct force, he can bring people another idea—correction— to give them, as it were, a different head and to restore their life, to make their striving forward different, that is, to guide them on the path of correction with the help of the same sword.

The sword symbolizes the upper light. It can be both the poison of death and the elixir of life.

This is what Baal HaSulam felt and he began to seriously implement this prophecy.

Today, prophecy has ceased and imitation has ceased, and people use nothing but dreams. (The Book of Zohar)

Dream in the spiritual means a state when a person is at a certain stage that he clearly feels and comprehends.

Let’s say we are now in the studio where our program is being recorded. And then I want to rise above this level to feel more, to know more, to reveal more, to see the connections between all the elements of creation, and to rise above my “animal” so as to feel the world outside myself.

This effort, when I wish to disconnect myself from my present state and ascend to the future, is called a dream, since I disconnect a little from this reality. I want to replace it with the next one, with a higher one. But until I have grasped it, until I really contain it in myself, but only aspire to it, I find myself, as it were, between two stages.

Question: Has the word “dream” has lost its true content in the material world?

Answer: In Kabbalah it has a completely different meaning. A dream is a premonition of a future step when you prepare for it.

Baal HaSulam, “The Prophecy of Baal HaSulam“: Take this sword in your hand and guard it with your heart and soul, for it is a token between Me and you, that all those good things will happen through you, for until now, I had no such faithful man as you to give him this sword.  … And I said to myself: “May I grant all the dwellers of the world a drop of the purity of this sword, for then they will know that the pleasantness of the Lord is in the land.”

The Creator says that through Baal HaSulam He gives the world a method of correction that has never been passed on to anyone before.

My teacher was the eldest son of Baal HaSulam, and he took over the method of correction from him and passed it on to me. It is truly the most suitable for those souls who are now descending into our world. With its help, we can correct ourselves, correct the world, and achieve the goal of creation.

“I have chosen you for a righteous sage in all this generation, to heal the human suffering with lasting salvation. Take this sword in your hand, and guard it with thy heart and soul, for it is a sign between Me and you, that all those good things will happen through you, for until now, I had no such faithful man as you, to give him this sword.” 

Therefore, when the Creator says in essence, “You are a special person, and it is to you that I entrust this sword, this technique, the key of salvation,” they are not empty words.

Comment: It is known that the Creator told Moses the same thing upon his exit from Egypt.

My Response: At that time, it was necessary. But the Torah that Moses established is not enough for our generation because souls have gone through a lot of egoistic changes since then, and in our generation, they need a new approach.

Not even a new approach but a development of the previous technique to make a real method of correction out of it. This is what Baal HaSulam added.

The Book of Zohar, “Chayei Sarah” [The Life of Sarah], Chapter 80: Why are all types of witchcraft and magic in women? It is because when the serpent came over Eve, he cast filth in her. He cast only in her and not in her husband, and the spells extend from the filth of the serpent. This is why witchcraft is in women.

In Kabbalah, women are a very important part of creation, even more important than the masculine part since everything comes from her. And the male part is just a link between the female part and the Creator.

The whole of creation is the female part. Therefore birth, stages of ascent, and all of the actions of creation are realized in a woman. And men are needed in the world only to provide for her, but life itself is in women.

And this is true. If men understood this and agreed, the world would be much better, straighter. Unfortunately, we are not that corrected yet.

From the spiritual point of view, the female part in creation is called desire and the male part is called intention. The Creator created the desire, and then the correct intention was created for it: for the sake of the Creator. But when this intention was corrupted by the so-called “sin,” it turned into its opposite. That is, the intention to give has been replaced by receiving for the sake of oneself without any love or compassion for others.

Why do we say that a woman is corrupted, that she has all the evil in her, that she has the venom of the serpent, and man does not? Because evil manifests itself in the female part. At the same time, I do not mean women at all. When I say “woman,” I associate it only with spiritual qualities. Therefore, you do not need to perceive my words at the level of our world.

So, Eve was not corrupted before the shifting of the egoistic property of “receiving” to Adam. Adam himself was corrupted, and because of this, the whole world, including Eve, was corrupted. She was the transferring link from the serpent to Adam. When Adam sinned, they both descended to the lowest level, to the state of permanent sin, and from this egoistic state they must come out.

The exit is mainly carried out through the efforts of Adam, the male part of creation, because it is engaged in correcting the intention and must change it from receiving to giving. And the female part is more passive. She accepts this intention and works with it. And we see this in practice in the male and female characters, in their approach to the world.

Question: If The Book of Zohar writes about witchcraft and sorcery, does it mean that there is a certain state outside of this world which is called that? Some kind of spiritual state?

Answer: Can one really invoke a property called sorcery or witchcraft and use it to his advantage? He can! But he will pay for it.

It is like you steal and use what you have stolen. But then you have to pay it back in full.

We are always stealing somewhere or cheating someone. Each moment we want to use this property to predict something, somewhere, and not in the most straight-forward way.

The most straight-forward way is difficult because I constantly have to engage in a rigid analysis of my own qualities, attract only the reforming light upon myself, and advance with its help.

The Book of Zohar, VaYechi [Jacob Lived], Item 593: Initially, there was prophecy among men. They knew and beheld to know the glory of the upper one. When prophecy had ceased in them, they used an echo. Now prophecy, as well as the echo, has stopped and people use only dreams.

For many years after leaving Babylon and before the destruction of the Second Temple, there was a group of people who were in a state of personal and group spiritual communication with the upper force or nature, meaning with the Creator.

Beside the fact that they were all at this level, there were also prophets among them. Imagine the level of those prophets who are written about in the holy books!

Then they fell from the spiritual level of “love your neighbor as yourself” into unfounded hatred and lost the feeling of the Creator in their egoistic qualities, that is, they ceased to be prophets. The prophecy disappeared. This is precisely what The Book of Zohar is talking about because it was written at the time when the destruction of the Temple took place.

The destruction of the Temple is the destruction of communication with the Creator.

The Book of Zohar was written to be revealed in two thousand years. And now, after receiving this book from them, we can return to the same degrees of prophecy.

During these 2,000 years, we have completely disconnected from spiritual perception, and now we can return to a state where the prophets will walk the Earth.

Question: The state called “witchcraft and sorcery” comes from above, from the spiritual root. The Creator seems to be playing with us for us to discover a single law that is direct, exact, and scientific. Does He also give us a place of uncertainty to try to find our way?

Answer: There is a quality opposite to “witchcraft and sorcery.” It states: “Borrow from Me, and then pay it back.” This is how the Creator appeals to us. This is possible.

That is, I do not need to conjure or fortune-tell, I can simply ask Him: “Give me strength, opportunities, and knowledge so that I can do the right thing to reach the goal, and then I will pay You back. I know that I have no strength, no knowledge or willpower of my own to elevate myself.”

This is not sorcery. You are consciously using His power. Like a small child, you take His hand and ask Him to lead you to the goal. This is natural.

While sorcery and witchcraft is when you try to steal the same power to advance, not in  connection with the Creator, but independently. And here, of course, lies a problem. After all, you are given these powers so that you can use them, although not in every case, because here you do not follow the direct law of nature. But then you have to pay it back, which is very difficult. This path is undesirable.

Comment: You’re telling us very complex things. They are not easy to understand.

My Response: We are talking about a person who is advancing and beginning to feel the spiritual world and himself—the Creator on one hand, and one’s egoistic desires on the other hand. A person begins to feel how he should be acting.

And then he has to choose between engaging in “magic” or raising a request. For in a spiritual place these two options are equal; thus, this is where they arise. And, naturally, those who raise a request win. But one still has to pay it back.

Witchcraft makes it seem like I’m going to dive in and achieve my result. While here I have to annul myself before the Creator. This is hard. Therefore, unfortunately, most people lie to themselves and others every moment, and then come to face the reckoning.

It is believed that prophecy has disappeared in our world. But why? Maybe there are such people among us, but we do not know them. They quietly live next to us, but we do not even suspect that they are prophets.

A prophet is a person who has a connection with the Creator. He either hears the Creator or sees Him. These are two types of spiritual connection because there are no tactile sensations in spirituality. Hearing is the level of the light of Hasadim, vision is the level of the light of Hochma.

In our world there may be such people; they just do not open up to others. But, as they say, one cannot be a prophet in his own homeland. This time has passed. Today we must all rise to this level and become prophets.

The great Kabbalist Ramchal in his book The Creator’s Way writes that everyone must rise to the prophetic level. We live in this generation. This time is not so far away and obscure.

The Book of Zohar, “Chayei Sarah” (The Life of Sarah), Item 87: When one observes the tweeting of fowl to know the future, why is it called “a serpent” and “witchcraft”?

Witchcraft means that I want to ascend to the highest level, to the so-called “birds,” not through my correction but with my existing egoism.

To invent some kind of system that would raise me without changing me to an altruist from the property of receiving to the property of bestowing, this is called sorcery, fortune-telling, witchcraft.

When do I go to a sorcerer? When I want to gain what I am not supposed to. If I was supposed to, then I would have walked straight, just like the true, direct law goes.

If I go to shamans, sorcerers, or fortune-tellers, it means that I want to act in some unclean, wrong, perhaps unknown way. But “unknown” also means wrong because I have to go only by my own choice.

Therefore, in the Torah, it is forbidden to bewitch and prophesize. So it is said: “Do not bewitch and do not guess, and burn every sorcerer.” A person has no right to try to ascend the spiritual levels with the help of indefinite, undeserved forces. After all, this contradicts spiritual elevation, which is possible only if you acquire the corresponding property.

Comment: It looks like some kind of amateurism.

My Response: But people believe in it. They are at those levels when a person is confused, like a small child. Children believe in fairy tales. And adults, while remaining children, believe in fairy tales.

The science of Kabbalah teaches us exactly the opposite: there is no miracle in the world, do not bewitch and do not prophesize, but not because you cannot. You cannot because it does not exist, and you are deceiving yourself by it. You must discover all the attributes of the world, all its laws, and use them correctly.
