There Are No Kilometers in Spirituality

703.04Question: How is everything measured in Kabbalah?

Answer: In the science of Kabbalah, we study that there are no absolute, true measurements; everything is evaluated in human perception. Therefore, it is always said with respect to a person who attains reality, as Kabbalah says: “There is no Creator without creation.”

Therefore, it must be understood that everything written in The Book of Zohar by its authors about the Creator, in the Psalms by King David, and in other sources is written by a person who comprehends according to his qualities and the level of his attainment.

In accordance with this, the person himself is evaluated, as well as his position on the ladder of degrees. Depending on where he is, this is how he sees the Creator. It seems to him that the Creator is changing, because he evaluates everything according to his desires and qualities.

There is no change in the Creator who is good and does good and who is in absolute peace. But every moment a person awakens his Reshimot, and according to this he decides whether the Creator is great or small, good or evil.

Therefore, we can understand Kabbalistic texts only if we rise to the level of their authors.

Three Categories of the Creator

282.02Question: What are these three categories of the Creator: One, Unique, and Unified?

Answer: The categories One, Unique, and Unified emphasize that there is only one force in the world: the Creator’s force, the force of bestowal and love. Only He, One, Unique, and Unified governs absolutely everything. Even those forces and qualities that He deliberately creates in order to contrast Himself against them are also under His control.

Question: Why does one and the same force act on different people in different ways?

Answer: The force is one, but people are different. Depending on their similarity to this force or, conversely, their opposition to it, we either draw closer to it or move further away from it.

Question: When you say “people are different,” do you mean only the egoistic level of a person?

Answer: Yes, they differ only in their accordance with the Creator. Everything else does not matter.

“Unique and Unified”

23521. What is “unique and unified” (Part 1, Inner Observation, 1)
Unique indicates the upper light that shines and rules over all the many degrees, which are different from each other, to the point of inverting them and equalizing them with His unique form. “Unified” indicates the end of that rule, meaning after He had already equalized and returned their form to the state of “unique,” as He is (Baal HaSulam, The Study of the Ten Sefirot).

Our entire path is the attainment of greater and greater unity until we reach complete unity.
And when we merge into one, we reveal within us the “unified.”

This very state is called “unified,” and it includes all the previous forms within itself.

We see the degrees as completely different, even opposed and contradictory to one another, but the One who arranges all of this for us is called the “Unique.” And in relation to Him, all this appears in a completely different way. He has only a single action, yet it seems to us as though entirely different actions are taking place.

We are unable to unite all this together, yet we call Him “Unified” because in passing through all the many and opposite states, we reveal that in all of them acts one single form and one single purpose.

In this lies the whole root of our work. On our part, we discover within ourselves all kinds of actions, qualities, and states, different, alien, and opposite. But we must strive to unite them together, to bring them to unity, to the root.

From the root emanates unity; yet in our sensations, it divides into a very large number of various manifestations and actions in order to show us our separation, our lack of unity.

If we unite all this together and bring it to one root, since within all these forms there exists one thought and one relation, then we will attain this unique and unified root.

All these forms that appear to us as different are testimony to our own flaws and corruptions. And precisely because of this, we must ascribe and bring them to the unique and unified form.

Nothing Affects the Creator

032.06Comment: What kind of game as adults should we have now?

Answer: Playing seriously means playing the Creator.

Comment: Explain what it is.

My Response: It is to make sure the Creator is among us in all our thoughts and actions. This is called playing seriously.

Question: Can we say that before I do anything, I try to appeal to the Creator?

Answer: Yes, and to imagine you are doing this for Him, for His benefit, for His sake. For Him means for the sake of others. Nothing affects the Creator; He needs nothing. There is only one possibility, which is to get the strength from Him to act for the sake of others.

Question: It turns out the formula “I want to be happy” changes to “I want people to be happy so everyone around me is happy?”

Answer: But really happy. Not the way I want them to be happy, but the way the Creator wants them to be happy. Because this is the law of the universe. It is absolute and objective.

Question: How precise everything is! So how does He want people to be happy? What is it for the Creator?

Answer: Try to move into other people’s shoes, transition there, and start feeling what is most important to them. And build it together with them.

Question: When transitioning, what do you think will be the most important thing for people?

Answer: To feel close to each other.

Question: Is this it? Is that the only thing deep inside a person?

Answer: Yes, a person begins to feel perfection in this.

Question: So there is peace, happiness, and security in it?

Answer: It is the completion of everything. Not the end, but completion, pure perfection.

Question: So are all people close? Are all people brothers and sisters?

Answer: Yes, they generally disappear in the form they are in now. They simply enter the realm of perfection.

Question: So if now I want to use another for my benefit, there I would want to give myself completely to someone else?

Answer: Yes, this is what giving ourselves to each other is all about. It is called Hashpaa in Kabbalah, bestowal. This is the state of perfection; the spiritual state.

Comment: We are engaged in a great science after all.

My Response: It is yet to be revealed! It will be further developed and broken down into feelings.

One, Unique, and Unified

610.2However, in Him, wisdom, pleasure, sweetness and acerbity, operation and operator, and other such different and opposite forms are all contained as one in His simple light. There are no differentiations among them whatsoever, as is the term “One, Unique, and Unified.”

“One” indicates a single evenness. “Unique” implies that everything that extends from Him, all these multiplicities, are in Him as single as His self. “Unified” shows that although He performs the multiple operations, one force performs all these, and they all return and unite in the form of One. Indeed, this one form swallows all the forms that appear in His operations (Baal HaSulam, Study of the Ten Sefirot – Inner Observation, Part 1).

All three attributes “one, unique, and unified must join together in our attainment, in our feelings, and even in our desire, and we tune into them like a radio receiver. Then we begin to feel that these are the qualities of the Creator.

Moreover, their correct connection with one another gives us the understanding that it is not one, nor unique, nor unified, but all together.

Hear the Creator

95Question: (from 11-year-old Idan) If the Creator spoke with people in the Bible and in the Pentateuch, why does He not speak with us now? And if He does speak with us, with today’s generation, then how can we know about it?

Answer: The Creator is constantly speaking to you, but you do not hear Him. He lives in your heart and addresses you, but you do not want to open your heart!

He knocks on your heart as on a door, but you do not open because you do not hear His knocks, you lack hearing, Bina, the quality of bestowal. If someone knocks on the door and you have a hearing problem, you do not hear it. The “ear,” hearing in spirituality, is the level of Bina, the force of bestowal. If you were receptive to bestowal, to love of your neighbor, you would hear that He is addressing you.

Question: What does He say?

Answer: He says: “Let’s embrace! Let’s be together.” But to embrace the Creator means to be like Him, to live in the quality of bestowal and love of one’s neighbor, and this, I do not want! “Give me something for me personally, then come! But with what You are offering me, do not come! I do not want to open to You.” This is what we say to Him.

What Is the Difference between the Creator and Atzmuto?

294.4Question: What is the difference between the Creator and Atzmuto?

Answer: Atzmuto is something we do not touch at all. This force precedes its manifestation in us so we cannot talk about any of its properties. We can talk about the Creator because this is an intermediate step between us and Atzmuto.

Question: But it also does not manifest in us since we do not yet have the property of bestowal?

Answer: We are talking about the Creator purely theoretically. Kabbalists tell us that everything we receive, everything we deal with, comes only from the Creator.

But no one can talk about Atzmuto: not us or the Kabbalists.

A Shocking Statement about the Creator

294.2The Creator Himself does not exist.

Comment: Well that statement shocks everyone.

My Response: But it is true! How a person reacts to this, if one does, is his business. I must set things straight. The Creator Himself does not exist. What exists is the feeling of closeness with others that arises through mutual effort to reveal the quality of love and bestowal.

Question: So this feeling, you call it the revelation of the Creator?

Answer: Yes, the Creator is love. And this has nothing to do with what is between a man, a woman, children, it does not matter who or what. It is simply a relation to everything that, I would say, I perceive as outside of me.

Question: And outside of me, you say there is only love?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Within me, there is none. But outside me there is love?

Answer: Within me, it is egoistic, predetermined, over which I must rise and feel true love.

Dissolve in the Friends

943Question: It is said that a person must overcome his own opinion and thoughts, and believe with complete faith that this is the Creator’s call. What do we overcome within ourselves in order to hear the voice of the Creator in the ten?

Answer: We must try to step out of our limited state where we are connected to each other by small egoistic ties and strive to replace them with mutual bestowal directed toward the center of the group.

As much as possible, we should avoid addressing someone personally in the ten and instead dissolve in the friends and bind them together. This is what we must get to.

Where Should We Look for the Creator?

934Question: Why do we keep talking only about the connection between us, and not about the connection with the Creator?

Answer: Right now, we are talking about the realization of our mission, and that is why we devote so much attention to the connection between us. The ultimate goal is adhesion with the Creator according to the law of equivalence of form, which means for us to become a “Man,” “Adam,” that is, similar to the Creator.

To achieve this, we must prepare our spiritual vessel (Kli) by making it similar to the upper one. This Kli must be one for all, where all its parts unite as one man with one heart. It must include all our hatred, jealousy, ambition, pride, and thirst for power, and above all this, we must rise and unite in order to become similar to the Creator and attain adhesion with Him.

We may think that the Creator exists somewhere outside of us, but in the end, He is revealed within the very same common spiritual Kli that we build among ourselves. Therefore, to have the right perspective, we must perceive everything as existing in one place. We are building this place for the revelation of the Creator! It exists exactly where we unite with each other above our egoism.

Our egoism remains below, and above it we build connections between us. And if our connection becomes really strong, based on the power of the light that reforms, then within it we will reveal the Creator (Boreh), which means “come and see” (bo–reh).

It is not that He is somewhere high above in heaven and I am doing something down here to reveal Him up there. I reveal Him precisely within the connection between souls, between the organs of the spiritual body as the inner light that fills it.

But people think that we isolate the Creator from our discussion and talk only about our connection with each other, and this is because inwardly they are not ready to agree that there is a connection between our work, studies, dissemination, uniting with each other—and the Creator.

Each one imagines the Creator as something exalted and is willing to unite with Him, but not with another person. They do not understand that this is the same thing. It is the deeper connection between people, the quality of bestowal that is called “the Creator,” but human nature does not allow one to agree with this…
