The Course toward the Conception of a Spiritual Embryo

938.02Question: Suppose we now set a course for the conception of a spiritual embryo (Ibur). I feel the deficiencies (Hissaron) of my friends. What does it mean to annul myself before them? Does it mean having no thoughts or desires of my own and thinking only about them?

Answer: You have gathered together to perform some spiritual work; otherwise, all your efforts and time are wasted. Therefore, I advise you to simply take into account what we say about the embryo and try to implement it as much as possible, constantly think about it. That is it! Nothing more is needed.

Continuously imagine what you need to do to remain in this state, maintain it, and develop it so as not to fall. This should be everyone’s concern, and then you will feel that you are all in one stream, moving in one direction as all your thoughts intertwine. This direction will hold and develop you.

Question: I am sure that each friend cares about finding the embryo (Ibur) in the depth of our connection. But what does this search really entail? What does it mean to think about it correctly?

Answer: Thinking correctly about the embryo means thinking only about how I annul myself. I do not criticize my friends; I consider them absolutely perfect.

If I see any imperfection in them, I attribute it to myself, to my own qualities; my qualities are why I see them as imperfect. I need nothing else but to annul myself before them.

Ideally the gradual and constant annulment of yourself before others should be in actions, thoughts, and feelings. Then within a short period, I will feel that I truly reach such a state.

Dimension in Spirituality

115Question: When we mutually integrate into each other, we will feel unity 620 times stronger than it was initially at the formation of the common soul. Does this state also include all levels: inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human?

Answer: This refers to the spiritual dimension. Therefore, if you are talking about the common soul or about some particular attainment, then in spirituality the particular and the general are equal. A part is not a part of the whole, but the same whole.

The 620 parts are practically the entire spiritual Partzuf, attainment from Malchut to Bina. But in principle, these 620 are further divided into dozens of parts.

248 parts from Bina to Tifferet (RAMACH) and 365 from Tifferet to Malchut sum up to 613 parts (TARYAG) plus seven additional parts, which are a total of 620 parts (TAPACH). But 620 are the parts of the soul into which it is generally divided, and each of the parts also consists of 620. Thus, spirituality always consists of 620 parts.

Just as a person has all sorts of small and large organs, bones, and tendons so does the spiritual body.

When we perform some spiritual actions of bestowal, of approaching, we constantly renew and correct these desires. And how this happens, we do not yet feel and do not know, but we will later definitely see and attain it.

A Special Relationship

942Question: Congress is a state where we can really feel each friend, his spark and charge. What is missing in this state to feel it as ten Sefirot, as direct and reflected light?

Answer: Direct and reflected light express only the relationship between us.

As soon as a relationship of “I am to a friend and he is to me” arises between us and so between everyone in the ten, we immediately form a state where we feel bestowal from us toward the Creator and from the Creator toward us.

Then we enter a completely different level of creation and begin to understand what is happening in this world and in the upper world. This world will become an upper world. We will begin to feel that everything works differently there.

It should happen. From the way I speak, I can see how easily I can convey information to you. This is a sign that you are ready. So go ahead.

The Connection of the Ten with Ten Sefirot

235Question: How is the concept of “ten” related to the Ten Sefirot? Can this information be used for internal clarifications?

Answer: If you have trouble connecting the spiritual ten with the physical ten, imagine each of us is a desire, ten separate egoistic desires that when interconnected allow you to build one complete altruistic intention.

We study the four stages of direct light: zero, one, two, three, and four. There are only five stages. But, as a rule, we talk about four because the zero stage does not count—it is the source.

The five stages of light are transformed into ten Sefirot because one of these Sefirot, Tifferet, consists, in turn, of six parts.

The path from light to desire goes exactly along ten parts. It cannot be less or more. Rabash writes about this in some of his articles, and Baal HaSulam in the book Study of the Ten Sefirot.

From light to the desire, which the light creates, there must be ten stages where the highest stage is the light itself and the lowest stage is the desire itself. Thus, the light as it gradually descends from above creates a desire within itself.

And then the opposite occurs where the desire begins to gradually become like the light. It turns out that the ten Sefirot of direct light occur when the light builds desire from Keter to Malchut and the reverse when Malchut wishes to resemble the light from Malchut to Keter.

What Yields a Spiritual Result?

599.02Question: If it is important to include myself in the friends’ questions, should we hold a workshop where each person asks a question so that I can integrate with it?

When I do not understand how to respond mentally to a friend’s question, will I be able to raise a request to the Creator?

Answer: We can certainly become included in each other during workshops, but it is even better when we help each other.

You always have the opportunity to work together. Try to find such collective work that allows you to participate together in something, even if the actions are insignificant. Collective physical work is a pure gain. That is what I advise you.

Intellectual exercises, like questions, answers, and so on, hardly yield serious spiritual results.

Intention for Connection

275Question: What is the correct intention for reaching connection?

Answer: The desire for connection is the correct intention. We must see adhesion with each other as an essential and necessary goal.

If we connect in our aspiration toward the Creator, through this aspiration, we create a vessel (Kli) to reveal Him within us. This is our work.

592.01Question: I saw a documentary showing how prisoners participate in circles, like workshops, in which they connect. They reveal all sorts of childhood desires and often scream to release them.

Will similar things happen in our case? Or does the upper light smooth everything out and make our process gentler?

Answer: We are not dealing with psychology, but with Kabbalah, and we go through much more complex states. Simultaneously, our Kli (vessel) constantly expands, our sensations become more powerful, and we can contain more within ourselves. Therefore, we do not experience such psychological outbursts as in the groups you mentioned.

On the contrary, a person who advances in the study of Kabbalah appears much calmer externally. That is not because they are working on themselves to restrain emotions, but because, under their screen, there is an enormous capacity for desires, feelings, and sensations.

Thus, they can calmly endure states that would be difficult for an ordinary person to bear in our world.

Otherwise such a person might lose their sanity, as neither their nerves nor mind could handle it. But in Kabbalah it is possible precisely because we are constantly developing our Kli.

Reach the State of the Embryo

232.07Question: How can we continue to work on connection so that a spiritual miscarriage does not occur?

Answer: Our main task is to achieve the state of Ibur (embryo) where we unite in the ten. There should be ten people, no more. Less is possible.

As this happens, we will go through the so-called “three days of the absorption of the seed.” The seed that has penetrated the uterus must attach to its inner wall.

It takes three days, which symbolizes the three lines. In our world all this happens as a consequence of the actions of the spiritual world.

We must go through this state and fully attach ourselves as a group to the Creator in three lines.

Attain the Common Soul

929There is indeed only one soul in the world… .That same soul exists in all the children of Israel, complete in each and every one, as in Adam HaRishon, since the spiritual is indivisible and cannot be cut—which is rather a trait of corporeal things.

Rather, saying that there are 600,000 souls and sparks of souls appears as though it is divided by the force of the body of each person (Baal HaSulam, Article “600,000 Souls”).

Every person has a soul, and this same soul is present in everyone. We cannot truly imagine this. It is like the theory of relativity—not everyone can grasp what it describes, and the spiritual world is even more challenging to comprehend.

There are several principles that we accept on faith because Kabbalists speak of them from their experience. Until we cross the Machsom, the barrier separating our perception of our world from the perception of the spiritual world, we cannot fully understand them.

In the spiritual world, there is only one soul that exists in each of us and in all of us together. It is not that if the soul is in each person, it is a small part of the collective soul, and if it is in everyone, it is one collective soul. No, it is one and the same soul.

Everything depends on how much a person reveals this soul. In other words, the extent to which he acquires the quality of bestowal, connection, and love determines how much he perceives the collective soul, whether in greater or lesser volume. But essentially, it is always one and constantly shines upon him.

In our perception of reality, we cannot imagine that the collective soul, being one for everyone, can reside in each person’s perception, or be felt as a part.

Our egoism prevents us from seeing it fully. For this reason, two discernments were made in the corporeal body, [meaning, in the egoistic perception]: In the first discernment, one feels one’s soul as a unique organ and does not understand that this is the whole of Israel. [This is the only thing created by the Creator.]

In the second discernment, the true light of the soul of Israel does not shine on him in all its power of illumination, but only partially, by the measure he has purified himself by returning to the collective.

The sign for the body’s complete correction is when one feels that one’s soul exists in the whole of Israel, in each and every one of them, for which he does not feel himself as an individual, for one depends on the other.

At that time, he is complete, flawless, and the soul truly shines on him in its fullest power, as it appeared in Adam HaRishon… . [That is, as it was in the state in which it was created by the Creator.]

Attention to the Friends

528.01Question: Should we constantly return our attention to our friends in the ten?

Answer: What does returning attention mean? I must always work that my attention is solely on them and continuously growing. That is not something you can do once every five or fifteen minutes. It needs to be continuous.

I would compare it to a woman who has just given birth to a baby; she constantly thinks about the baby. No matter what happens, she thinks only about the baby. That is how we should think about the group. There is no other example in our world.
