Now we have special opportunities for spiritual advancement. The door is opening; one might even say that it is almost open, and all that remains is for everyone to enter the spiritual world.

We are already beginning to understand little by little how the spiritual world works. We have not yet crossed this threshold, but we are right in front of the open door to spirituality. There has already been a big breakthrough since the beginning of the pandemic.

We need to focus on our thoughts, intentions, sensations, and not on mechanical actions. This is how Kabbalah differs from religion; it speaks of a person’s intention, which he should receive from the upper force through his group and work with it. And religion speaks only of physical actions, of words.

Every person who wants to attain the Creator has the opportunity to do this without any distinction between race, gender, or skin color. Kabbalah is meant for everyone; the only difference is in our desires because we come from one soul of Adam HaRishon. Initially, he was generally one person, and then he was divided into a man and a woman.

We must return to this unity into one person who is all in the intention of bestowal for all his desires. Therefore, the end of correction is the same for everyone, both men and women. And the general correction is that all desires in the world—inanimate, vegetative, and animal—receive the intention for bestowal from us, people. And then the whole world will rise to the level of bestowal and unity.

Therefore, all religions will oppose the method of connection among all because each of them tries to divide people and prove its rightness. Each religion considers itself the only true one and better than others. But the science of Kabbalah comes from the side of integral nature and explains that we all belong to one system. That is why Baal HaSulam says that a person can remain in his own religion, in his customary family ways and traditions, but not to the detriment of universal connection and unity.

Do you think Westerners should practice meditation?

Answer: I do not think this will help much because Westerners and Easterners have completely different psychological models, personalities with different goals. What is created in Western society can only be applied there. Neither the Native Americans, nor the Indians of Asia, nor the Africans can have this.

It is possible that something Western can be, somehow, applied in Russia, but also here we see that this lasts only in a special group of the population that is similar in its level of intelligence and mentality to the West.

In principle, each continent has its own internal prerequisite, which method of attitude to the world, to the development of itself and society is chosen by the population. Europeans are Europeans, North Americans are North Americans, although, in principle, they are the same Europeans who managed to suppress the culture of the Native Americans.

South America is South America because the psychology of the indigenous peoples there dominates. When you come to one of the South American countries, you immediately understand that this is a special world. It is the same in Asia and Africa.

You cannot make one type of person into another. The only thing we can do is leave everyone with their own perception of the world and lead them to understand the need for the proper integration among all. At the same time, everyone remains in their own culture, as it was once said in the Soviet Union: “national in form, but socialist in content.”

It is the same here. The content should be Kabbalistic. This is an aspiration to a common world, to connection, kindness, and love but in the form in which a person understands the language of nature, and can correctly understand others.

Two thousand years ago, the nation of Israel fell from its spiritual level to the corporeal one, from the intention of bestowal to the intention for its own sake. As a result, we have turned into completely different people, into a different nation with a new religion, a new outlook on life, and a different perception of reality.

Previously, we perceived all reality as one single whole in which one force acted, and we all belonged to it. But gradually, together with the collapse of the First Temple and then after a thousand years of the Second Temple, we began to move away from bestowal and unification into perceiving life as we see it today, that is, purely corporeally, egoistically, and recognize the unification of a man only with himself, but not with others.

Today we will have to make a lot of effort to return to the spiritual, true perception of reality.
We must understand that this perception of reality and intention is in conflict with what is accepted in all religions. Each religion wants to establish itself above others, be proud of it, and teach the same to the people who follow it. We, however, need to advertise a union that will raise us above all problems because they are all a consequence of remoteness, separation, and unfounded hatred among us.

If I perceive reality egoistically, care only about my own existence, see others from afar, and do not unite with them through feelings into one whole, then I see the world as it is today, in my five  sense organs.

But if I unite with someone else, at least with one person, for this I need to annul myself and then I will already begin to perceive the reality with different organs of sensation. These will no longer be the ordinary sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch, but the Sefirot Keter, Hochma, Bina, Zeir Anpin, and Malchut.

I will see reality as single and perfect. It will already be a reality that does not exist within myself, but outside of me. That is, it will not be limited by my sensory organs. To the extent that I abandon my personal sensation, my desire to receive pleasure, for the external perception, for the desire to bestow, to that extent I will reveal the true reality.

I will reveal the light in the desire for bestowal, which I was able to build within my desire to receive pleasure, the form of bestowal and love, that is, the form of the Creator. From a passive observer of reality, I will turn into its active researcher. This is what the science of Kabbalah teaches us.

We must all receive the form of a spiritual Partzuf, which contains desire, restriction, screen, and reflected light. Then it becomes active, can bestow to the master, unite with Him, and attain Him, as it is written: “And you will be like God, and know good and evil.”

In religion, a person performs corporeal actions and wants to receive a corporeal reward for them. But we want to perform spiritual actions, that is, build a mutual connection, unity, up to love between us. This will be our reward.

To Prevent Movement to Fascism

Remark: Jews, living in different countries, prosper in those places up to the point that discord breaks out between them and anti-Semitism flares up. Then they unite again through the suffering that unites them. And then fascism comes.

The great Kabbalist of the 20th century Baal HaSulam believes that the only way to disrupt nazism is through a religion that he calls altruism.

It turns out that the Jews, as a nation, are natural opponents of fascism in any of its forms. And subconsciously feeling this, all forms of fascism are against the Jews.

Baal HaSulam in the newspaper The Nation written in 1940, emphasizes: “He [Karl Marx] thought that the proletariat governance would be the subsequent step to the bourgeois governance, and hence determined that by negating the bourgeois government, a proletariat one would be established instantly. Yet, reality proves that the step following the ruin of the present government is that of Nazis or Fascists.”

My Comment: Unfortunately, we will see the emergence of fascism in America, in all developed countries, and in developing capitalist and semi-capitalist countries. This is a law of nature. After a developed state, society can either come to the realization that it is necessary to change its ideology or continue the line of fascism.

Question: In other words, in order to survive, people go to nationalism? We see that right wing parties and nationalists are coming to power in almost all European countries.

Answer: This will continue to deteriorate until the method of connection becomes apparent in the world.

Question: If these are the laws of nature, then no one is to blame, no religions. There is a single force that generates all these processes. And we, as observers, should notice all this and draw the right conclusions?

Answer: No. We can move all this forward, starting to unite on the basis of the true religion, the science of Kabbalah.

Thus, we will show all of humanity that there is a path that leads them to salvation from their own egoism. A path that not only makes our life in this world special, but also reveals the upper world, that is, the structure of society based on interconnection.

Kabbalah – A Bridge Connecting Jews

Question: Two hundred years ago, American reformists wanted to take the religion of the fathers, their traditions, and adapt to modernity. This conflict between Orthodox Jews in Israel and American Reformists continues to this day. What can be the bridge that connects them over all traditions and divisions?

Answer: Nothing but the science of Kabbalah, which is the basis, the core, the inner part, of real Judaism and explains who the Jews are, where they came from, what they should be, what to bring to the world, and what their purpose is. Only in this case will something change.

Remark: But it has been written about that everywhere, and they can read it.

My Response: They will not be able to read it because they will not want to. Even if they read it, they will not take these words into account, much less realize it themselves. It doesn’t seem to exist for them.

Question: Does this mean that Kabbalists will have to set an example?

Answer: Kabbalists will have to organize themselves. I hope this will happen within the next 10 to 20 years. At the same time, the world will sink into the abyss of disunity and all kinds of crises: political, military, economic, natural, and climatic. As a result, Judaism must explain to itself and to others that it is in it that there is the right attitude of man to man and to nature, which will bring everything into balance.

This is the purpose of the Jews: to become a light for the peoples of the world. First for yourself and then for others.

American Reformism

Question: As you know, German Jews were reformists. The arrival in America of hundreds of thousands of fellow believers from Eastern Europe (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Poland) did not make them happy because these Jews were Orthodox. On this basis, conflicts arose. Bohemian Isaac Mayer Wise is credited with founding American Reform Judaism.

What is the basis of reformism? What is the reason for this phenomenon in Judaism?

Answer: Reformism believes that religion should be left as a kind of background where it unites the people. And where it does not unite, it has to be removed. It is necessary to remove the orthodox religion from society because it divides it into clans, classes, etc.

Even in Russia, there were different rabbis in the villages who differed in their interpretations of Judaism and in everything else. And even more so, Eastern and Western Jews, Litvak and Belarusian Hasidim. Naturally, all this prevented unification.

On the other hand, American Jews wanted a purely mercantile use of their origin for their own good, and therefore sought to partially soften the tradition. We see that over the years, American Jewish society has more or less retained an indifferent form.

Of course, the difference between Jews is very large, but it is regarded according to the wallet, like the rest of American society. For example, in synagogues there are certain places for those who make large donations, for those who cannot pay that much, for special individuals, and for ordinary people, which cannot be in a meetinghouse. The Americans, with their inherent division of a person by pocket or rank, do it rather unceremoniously, which leaves an imprint on modern American Judaism.

But on the other hand, this led to the fact that today this Judaism, in principle, does not exist. It became the so-called three days a year Judaism, when people come to the synagogue only on holidays: Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashanah, Passover, etc. The rest comes down to you mailing a check to your rabbi or community.

Religion Is a Factor Dividing Society

Question: A hundred years after the resettlement of German Jews to America, Russian Jews began to arrive.

According to the American writer Stephen Birmingham, German Jews were already respectable, well-dressed, bourgeois-looking and wealthy, and the new immigrants from Eastern Europe were ragged, impoverished, actively bearing the charge of their culture, fierce suffering, and pogroms. They were idealistic socialists.

German Jews were very much afraid of the Russians, especially their idea of ​​organizing trade unions. Therefore, disagreements arose between them, but not on religious, rather on social grounds.

The famous American actor Kirk Douglas who comes from a family of Belarusian Jews noted that anti-Semitism was sometimes most strong among Jews, particularly with German Jews hating Russian and Polish Jews.

Why is the discord between Jews not only on religious but also on social grounds?

Answer: Our religion does not unite Jews. On the contrary, it makes everyone an individualist because it is not built on the true foundation of Judaism, which says “love your neighbor as yourself,” above all differences.

Religion believes that a Jew must fulfill everything that is said in the “Shulchan Aruch” (Code of Laws), and by this he will ensure his future in this and the next world. All the rest does not matter.

Question: Can’t external traditions unite people?

Answer: External traditions divide.

Question: Why is there the strongest anti-Semitism among Jews?

Answer: A Jew is a person who must show the whole world the way to unity, to “love your neighbor as yourself,” to rise above all the differences that love covers. We must be a light for the peoples of the world. And if we do not bear this, then we are in disunity and everyone hates us.

And where do we get the right message if we do not receive the appropriate education? Religion says nothing about it. On the contrary, it pits us against each other: these are Sephardim, these are black, these are white, these are Eastern, and these are Western, and so on. Everything is built on bringing maximum disunity into society.

To this day, we see this among Orthodox Jews. The more Orthodox a Jew is, the more he is attached to his narrow clan, to the extent that marrying others is a big problem. Only in recent years, somewhere, somehow, this has softened, but still not in strictly Orthodox communities.

At the same time, the non-religious part of society in Israel, and even in America, is absolutely indifferent to various parts of society and is ready to unite with them.

This clearly shows how much religion divides society into classes and groups, and how a departure from religion attracts people to be more connected with each other.

Question: During the Enlightenment, many Jews moved to cities. 70 to 80% of them were engaged in trade, worked in factories, enrolled in universities, served in the army, and created their own parties. There was a departure from religion.

Jews participated everywhere, even in the most anti-Semitic organizations. Among them were Mensheviks, Socialist-Revolutionaries, Bolsheviks, and even Black Hundreds.

A new division appeared, a religious one, which became one block, and the part that left religion. Why, from the point of view of the purpose of creation is such a withdrawal from the spiritual roots of the majority of Jews?

Answer: Neither Hasidim nor the Litvaks [Lithuanian Jews] suited people who needed a clear methodology. What is religion for? Where does it lead? What is its purpose, its meaning? Why is it given to the Jewish people?

This is a natural set of questions that arise among Jews who have gone through such long exiles, who emerged from the Middle Ages surrounded by other peoples, who also began to catch up, develop science, open universities, etc.

In addition, a vision about the Jewish masses was created as being completely intimidated, ignorant, very far from the modern, constantly developing world. Therefore, there was a very serious difference between the progressive Jewish strata who went into science, art, and those who remained in the Jewish villages, in their yeshivas [Jewish educational institutions devoted to Talmudic study].

Question: But from the point of view of spiritual development is it good that people leave their history and forget everything?

Answer: This story has outlived its usefulness since it existed on the ruins of the destroyed Temple. It had no opportunity to continue further. There is a time to scatter stones and a time to collect them.

But to this day, echoes of that period are felt, although in our time not so much because the leaders of the religious part of the people realized that something had to be done, to somehow develop further.

Therefore, in recent years, they no longer alienate people from approaching science, from acquiring normal occupations.

Earlier, if a person wanted to live a religious life, he condemned himself to a beggarly existence without a normal profession. His family lived on a level lower than the rest of the Jews that were engaged in civilian practices.

Therefore, having received the rights, the Jews rushed to the cities, to factories. When the Bolsheviks came to power, Jews became the bulk of the leadership in all parties and organizations. Not only men, but also women. Paradoxically, most of the Soviet leaders had Jewish wives.

Question: In the early 30s of the 18th century, a new movement appeared—Hasidism. What was it?

Answer: In the 16th century, since the appearance in Safed of the school of the great Kabbalist of the Middle Ages, Ari, the spiritual ascent of the Jews began in the Land of Israel, as well as in all the countries of the diaspora, since the ties between the Jews were quite close.

No one doubted that the Ari was a special person. He called the people to unification, spiritual ascent, the development of Kabbalah, the revelation of the Creator, and the fulfillment by the Jews of their spiritual destiny. As a result, groups of Jews appeared in many countries of the world who followed his idea.

This is what led to the emergence of Hasidism. The Ari’s direct follower was the Baal Shem Tov, who lived in Eastern Europe in the 18th century. He preached the teachings of the Ari in a practical way: how Jews in connection with each other can reveal the Creator.

This idea was warmly received by Jews who lived in the southern part of Eastern Europe in lands belonging to Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and the present territory of Belarus. The Jews who inhabited the northern lands, including Germany and the countries of the present Baltic states belonged to the opponents of the Baal Shem Tov. They did not agree that it was necessary to raise the spiritual part of the people.

Their opposition reached the point that they even reported on each other to the tsarist authorities. This is how great problems arose that still exist among the believing masses.

In addition, you need to understand that the resettlement of Jews in Europe, Asia, Russia, and in the world, in general, took place under the influence of higher forces, like the entire movement of man in this world. Therefore, those whose souls were more predisposed to spiritual development settled in Poland, southern Belarus, Ukraine and southern Russia. Opponents of spiritual development, who set as their goal only dry fulfillment of the laws of the Torah, settled in the Baltic States and northern Russia.
