An Accessible Explanation Is a Profession

243.01Comment: You once said that old material is not worth listening to.

My Response: No, there are very good things in the archive. It is just that in subsequent explanations, the presentation of the material becomes more professional as more precise words are found. An accessible explanation is a profession after all.

For example, Baal HaSulam had a very good, unique language—academic, precise, and polished. But in the same era, there were many great Kabbalists, such as Rav Kook, whose works no one understands despite him having written an enormous number of books.

The greatest Kabbalist Baal Shem Tov did not write a single book at all. He deliberately did not want to write. And there were many like him who could or could not write and did so better or worse. For instance, Chaim Vital, who received spiritual heritage from the Ari, eventually collected and published these works at the end of his life, and his son and grandson continued his work.

All this is done gradually because the adaptation of materials to our world is carried out according to the souls that descend here. Can you compare the people who sat before me fifteen years ago and those today? They are completely different people.

The Beginning and End of the Work in the Ten

938.04Question: When does the work in the ten begin and end?

Answer: Work in the ten begins when you feel that you have no other choice, you must be in a ten for the sake of attaining your soul, the Creator.

The end of the work in the ten occurs when the whole world is also connected to this ten and only one Partzuf of ten Sefirot is obtained.

This is the end of the correction of the whole creation.

That is all. That is, the whole work, in general, from beginning to end, is in the ten.

All the Treasures in the Archive

963.5Question: Are Kabbalistic materials from twenty years ago appropriate for our time?

Answer: We record everything. There are very good materials from those years.

I’m moving with the group. The group is moving forward and no longer needs to chew through the material as it was in those years. Twenty years ago, for the first time, I took the Introduction to the Wisdom of Kabbalah with students: Sefirot, worlds, soul, structure. I chewed it all out for them in a way I can’t do today. I see people in front of me who don’t need to be told this.

Now I have to speak briefly. I express some new, more analytical internal data; synthesize the material from different sides, in different planes, and in a different way, and they already understand this.

That is, the material for beginners is no longer served in the simplicity that it was once taught. On the one hand, this is a big disadvantage. But, on the other hand, there is an archive.

There Is No Patronage in Spirituality

961.2Comment: There must have been dead ends in your life when you probably wanted to give up on everything.

My Response: If I have achieved anything in life, do you think I did not go through what you still have to experience? Do you really think that any stages were cancelled for me due to some kind of patronage that allowed me to bypass them? There is no such thing in spirituality. It exists only in our world, only in animal states.

Question: How critical was your condition? Did you feel terrible despair?

Answer: Yes, especially in Tiberias where we went with my teacher Rabash and stayed there together. I felt he was ready to give everything, and I could not take anything.

I understood that everything depended on me: I had to spread myself and desire spirituality like nothing else in the world. I used to sit on the balcony of our house at night, smoke two packs of cigarettes, and I couldn’t do anything. Nothing! I understood my absolutely hopeless state.

But what could I do? After all, it was hopeless; that is how this state revealed itself to me. But there must be a way out! There is a way out for every soul. What is the solution for me now?

Question: Did Rabash know about this?

Answer: Of course he knew. It could not be that he did not feel.

A person must go through these states! The teacher cannot do anything. You have to go through them, and he is waiting for you to go through them. That is all, just like the Creator is waiting for this.

What Should We Do When Brothers Hate Each Other?

294.2From a viewer:

Why can brothers hate each other so much? I see that the same thing happens with brotherly nations. It is the same with Israel and the Arabs. You are brothers, you have the same father—Abraham. And you hate each other so much! I have two sons, they are already adults, and I could not reconcile them. I know that they will kill each other when they meet. Why does God do this?

Answer: This is a consequence of our nature, the egoistic nature of our world and of us. In every atom, in every molecule, in every gathering of living particles, everything is built on the idea of suppressing others and being above them. This is nature—absolute egoism.

Question: Is our world like this?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Well, fine, this is my attitude toward others whether close or distant ones. But why brothers?

Answer: Brothers are even worse because inside them hatred for each other is constantly brewing as each subconsciously believes that the other has taken their parents away and lives at their expense. This feeling makes them fight constantly.

Question: But still they are brothers from the same parents. How can this be changed? Are there any methods, steps, or practices?

Answer: No, there are none because this goes back to the very depths of time, to the birth of our world. And so it will continue until we decide to change this world within ourselves!

Question: Now you are approaching the question that was asked at the end: “Why did God do this?”

Answer: So that we will change ourselves.

Question: Does it mean that until each of these brothers works on himself everything is doomed?

Answer: Yes.

Comment: You often say, and Baal HaSulam, the great Kabbalist, wrote that the future of humanity is to become one family. We talk about brotherhood. But we mean a different thing, we mean closeness.

My Response: When the Creator desires it, we will do so. But when we need to act, we see how much nature is against us.

Question: So, can we not do this with our own hands?

Answer: We cannot.

Question: Then what do we need to do so that the Creator would do this?

Answer: Beg Him to change our nature.

Question: Do I need to feel bad because of my hatred for my brother?

Answer: Yes.

Question: But it does feel bad when one hates one’s brother, right? Or not?

Answer: No.

Question: Is it He who makes it so that I feel bad from this hatred?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Are you putting everything on Him? Let Him deal with it?

Answer: On whom else?

Comment: If everything is on Him, it makes us feel disheartened. We cannot do anything. Let Him deal with everything, and that is it.

My Response: You can ask.

Question: Do we, in principle, have only one job—to ask?

Answer: To ask the Creator.

Manifestation of Perfection

224Question: What is perfection?

Answer: Just as the Creator does not exist in our senses now, so the creation makes itself non-existent in creation. So together the Creator and creation discover themselves in each other, and perfection manifests itself.

You can see that a person takes up little space. You just feel it. He may take up a lot of space in his spiritual influence, but as a person in this world, he does not take up much space.

He does not push, does not rule, does not control life. If you want, you can make an example of him, if you want, you can be next to him, or not. He does not extend himself to you or put pressure on you. But if you want to be in contact with him, do so.

Comment: But at the same time, when you connect with him, he presses.

My Response: But that is already you who connected to him. Why did you do it? To reach a higher level through contact with him. So now you have to yield to him. But this is your will.

Question: Is this what choice is?

Answer: Sure, if you want it.

The Light of Rabash

917.02Question: Was it up to you that you became a famous Kabbalist, or did you just have to come to this?

Answer: This is very difficult to explain. On the one hand, everything depends on the Creator, but on the other hand a lot also depends on a person.

As a rule, when everything has already happened and remains in the past, we say that all this is from the Creator, and the next moment I must say that everything depends on me.

Question: You are the only known Kabbalist today who can convey certain spiritual information. Is this your mission?

Answer: Rabash knew that I would not leave him. It was out of the question. But I went through very difficult, terrible, sharp states of disobedience and objections. Sometimes, I was very uncontrollable. I could not have behaved differently.

Yet, even in those states, I tried to do everything possible for him. I loved my teacher very much, but on the other hand there were moments when I hated him. It is not that I hated him. I just did not understand: “How can this be?!” That is natural.

Question: Rabash knew that you had a different soul. You probably feel the souls of your students in the same way. Among them, are there people with such a soul that must do something in the future? Does this depend on them or…?

Answer: Of course it depends on them and no one else. It did not on Rabash; he gave everything he could. Everything! What I could take at that time, I took from him. What I could not take, he instilled in me potentially, and it manifested later.

He has not been with me for many years, and all these years, what he instilled in me continues to manifest. I feel it. It is only his light. That is how a Kabbalist works.

What Is The Creator’s Name?

236.01 Maxiver writes:

Please tell me, what is the Creator’s name? When I ask Him for something, it seems necessary to call Him by name. After all, when I ask someone for something, I address them by name. So how should I address the Creator?

My Response: Abba.

Question: Do you mean “Father”?

Answer: Father.

Question: Is that how we should perceive Him?

Answer: Yes.

Question: When you say the word “Abba,” “Father,” what do you mean by it?

Answer: That He is my root; I grow from Him.

Question: Can we tell Him absolutely everything, or are there some prohibitions?

Answer: No, there are no prohibitions. Avinu, Our Father.

Question: When it says, “Our Father in heaven,” what does that mean?

Answer: That He is above us and determining all our paths.

Question: Is that what is meant by “in heaven”?

Answer: Yes.

Do You Have To Love Yourself First?

626Question: I do not like myself, but you say: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Maybe it is necessary to love yourself first? But how?

Answer: Start loving others, and then you will see how much you love yourself. Only then does a person begin to understand that he is actually a terrible egoist!

Question: Usually this phrase is actually translated like this: “Let me love myself first, and then I will deal with others.” But you say it differently. Strive toward others, love others, and then you will see how much you love yourself.

So a person must forcibly make such an effort and start trying to love people. Will some bitterness appear in him then? What will appear in him?

Answer: He will see that he is divided into his external and internal parts, and in fact he loves only himself and only for this is he ready to exist.

And then if he understands that he has to remake himself, he will already need some kind of correction methodology.

Question: And these are the kind of people who find us?

Answer: Yes.

If a Daughter Grows Up Without a Father

627.2From a Viewer:

I have a wonderful baby girl. But she was born sick. My husband left us. And I am happy. Is this normal? I am asking because you keep saying that the child needs a father. And I do not want to look for any father for my Sveta yet.

My Response: Don’t, the daughter does not have to have a father.

Comment: Yes? This is news, actually.

My Response: No, that is how she lives; the daughter is with her mother and that is it.

Question: The fact that the father left when the sick child was born was, of course, a blow for the mother. And she does not want to start a family anymore. So she can go on like this?

Answer: Yes, she can.

Question: Two women live. Is there some kind of root in this—that a boy needs a father but a girl does not?
Answer: A boy will one day be attracted to his father, to an adult man, but a girl will not.

Question: But they say: “Our female destiny” means that we have some kind of divorces all the time in the female part. Will that not be a sequel?

Answer: No.

Question: Will mom not tell her that it is good to be alone?

Answer: I think she will not. What the girl lacks now with her father, maybe she will feel later when she starts dating guys; then she will correct this lack of communication.

Question: In general when a girl meets a guy, who does she want to see in him? Should he look like her father? Or does the girl have something else? You once said that when a man meets a woman, or a guy meets a girl, he looks for his mother in her.

Answer: That is for sure.

Question: And when a girl meets a guy, what is she looking for in him?

Answer: It is more complicated. Maybe she is thinking about her grandfather.

Question: So if she has not seen her father, let’s say, she remembers the man in her life that she wants her husband to look like?

Answer: Yes.
