Everyone Can Become Moses

222Comment: Irina is asking: “During this war and these events that are happening, I suddenly have a feeling that I cannot plan anything, that I do not decide anything, that everything is decided for me. They took away the meaning of living the way I want! I have to live as someone else wants! I feel like an animal being led wherever they want: into slavery—so, into slavery; to slaughter—so, to slaughter. And this is called life! How can I break free out of this circle? This is not life!”

My Response: It has always been that way. You just did not realize that you were being controlled. Now you have grown up internally and feel that you are being controlled. This is a completely different state.

What is this for? In order for you to maybe be able to change yourself. To find out why you are being controlled, who is controlling you, what for, why, and how to change yourself so that you can enter this governance yourself. This is already recognizing that you are in a state of spiritual growth.

All these people and governments are in fact puppets. Who is behind them? The upper force that controls all of us through all sorts of figureheads.

It means that we must understand from where, what for, and why, and try to see this upper force that leads us to a certain state and controls us. To come in contact with it in such a way that we would receive all kinds of control signals directly from it.

Question: So that I receive directly from this force? Roughly speaking, why do I need intermediaries? By this I remove these intermediaries and work directly with it, right?

Answer: Of course. This is the level of Moshe (Moses)—the one who talks directly to the Creator. Everyone can come to this. If we get out of slavery, we reach the level of Moses.

This is why we are driven into such states, so that we come out of them and directly connect ourselves to the upper force that wants to lead us somewhere. We are given all the problems just to turn our attention to the upper force. Therefore, it is said about the Creator that He is very jealous.

Question: Is He jealous because we do not pay attention to Him but to everything that happens around us? And we should pay attention to Him?

Answer: Yes.

Question: So, are you saying that this direct dialogue is not just possible but necessary? Is that where we are being led?

Answer: He will force us to do this. But it is better to do this sooner.

Question: Will every inhabitant of the Earth be directly speaking with the upper force? What will happen then if this fantasy takes place?

Answer: We will discover the upper force within which we exist, which controls us and leads us to the next degree of development.

We will discover that He surrounds us, includes us, and controls us in everything and by everything and wants us to enter into such a connection with Him that we understand His every action, His every signal to us.

Question: Why does He need it?

Answer: So that we rise to His level. Through this we reach our highest state of development—to be like Him, to see everything, to understand everything, to execute everything, to do everything, to be at the highest level of nature. To see everything from one end to the other. That is, we become eternal and perfect.

Comment: As they used to say at school: “Man is the crown of nature.” The man who mutilated everything around him.

My Response: This is the recognition of our current state. It is terrible, of course! Worse than animals! It is out of this recognition that we come to connection.

Question: What about what you say all the time: love, connection, and good relations?

Answer: We must cultivate this within ourselves by force. From this forced cultivation we will come to this feeling. We will come to this.

The Main Thing Is Good Relations

552.02Question: There are some things that come to a person easily, while other things are much more difficult. Let us say unity. Is it worth considering it this way: it is hard for me to unite with another person, and this is my contribution?

Answer: No. One should really try to reach any kind of contact in any place, under any conditions. The main thing is good relations. Different levels of them, but kind, and positive, when I wish another individual what I wish for myself.

At the same time, a good connection arises between people when they feel each other and permeate each other emotionally.

Each one of them understands the desires of the other, the qualities of the other, and how he can complement and fulfill them. We must feel this! To do this, you need to be in a group that is working on unity, and then you will feel.

We need to find such a group; we have a lot of them all over the world. With systematic participation in the work of the group, you will see how you accumulate internal sensations and knowledge, which begin to form into a new sense; it is called feeling your neighbor. You will begin to understand that until this time you did not feel your neighbor.

You did not feel people at all! You felt in yourself their model, which you created for yourself egoistically to get as much as possible from them and give them as little as possible, according to a simple egoistic law. This includes your children, this includes everyone. Now, when you do it in a new way, it is completely different.

Therefore, we must open courses and constantly, everywhere, teach people the elementary laws of commutation.

“Can American and Israeli Jews stay together?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Can American and Israeli Jews stay together?

A recent survey of US and Israeli Jewish millennials conducted by the American Jewish Committee shows that roughly a quarter of the respondents in the US have been forced to hide their Jewishness due to the anti-Israel climate, which also made roughly a quarter of the respondents rethink their connection to Israel.

In times where the anti-Israel climate intensifies, American and Israeli Jews can stay together as a result of us Jews strengthening ourselves. Also, we need to accurately define what being Jewish means, and what it means to be an Israeli in the State of Israel and in today’s world.

A Jew is one who aspires for unity with everyone (the Hebrew word for “Jew” [Yehudi] comes from the word for “united” [yihudi] [Yaarot Devash, Part 2, Drush no. 2]). People who have no aspiration for unity cannot be considered Jews.

If we accept and start living according to the true spiritual meaning of being Jewish, then one’s place of residence would not matter, whether it be Israel, America or the moon. We would all live according to the same values. If you aspire to positively connect with others, then you are a Jew because you want unity with everyone.

“How is envy or jealousy ever good?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: How is envy or jealousy ever good?

Envy is a great developmental force. It is bad only if it sets us on a destructive course. However, if envy makes us build and improve ourselves, then the envy is good.

Envy is a characteristic quality of our egoistic desires. With its help, we see that others have things that we do not have. It thus makes us develop ourselves.

Envy integrates us, and such integration can continue up to a point of grasping other people’s desires, thoughts and qualities.

“How do parents appreciate teachers?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: How do parents appreciate teachers?

As a part of an Israeli news program, three parents were assigned as teachers at a prestigious school for a day, and it led them to have a much greater appreciation of teachers afterward.

I support such an experiment, i.e. to let parents be teachers for a day.

While teachers have their work to do, which requires constant listening to their students and a constant concern for how the students absorb the teacher’s messages, parents should likewise work similarly at home. Parents should raise the importance of teachers in the students’ eyes, that the teachers teach the students significant material that they will need for life, which they will be unable to hear elsewhere. Teachers should also go to school with such a feeling of responsibility.

A well-oiled triangle of teacher-parent-student comes about when parents and teachers work in tandem toward children in order to guide the children’s development into happy and successful human beings.

Invincible Heroes

507.05Question: Pavel writes to you: “Today people are saying, ‘Do you remember the pandemic? Those were the good old days.’ What awaits us, Dr. Laitman?”

Answer: I am not a doctor of medicine, but I am, to a certain degree, a doctor who treats a man within a human. One who cures.

I would say that a long and difficult period of recovery awaits us. However, recovery is impossible without feeling the illness; otherwise, the patient resists and does not want any medications and treatment.

Therefore, precisely those who advocate the fact that they are absolutely healthy: “We are invincible heroes,” and so on, these are the most ill people. Let’s hope that gradually this will all become clear. We will help them with this. They will see how much they are deceiving themselves and trying to deceive others. But in general, of course, this period, I hope, is beginning to be more or less obvious to many, not to everyone yet, but to many.

Question: As a doctor, you say to the question “What awaits us, Dr. Laitman?” that we will feel that we are ill. Is this the main thing that awaits us?

Answer: Yes, this is the main thing.

Question: Do you transfer this to the entire humanity or to individuals?

Answer: Starting with the most severe cases who are those that  are not aware that they are ill. They are not aware to such an extent that they are still trying to lead all of humanity, to show them the way forward.

Question: Do you think it will start with them?

Answer: No, it will start, not with them, but they are the most serious cases in the ward. It will start with the mildly impaired patients, who will feel that they are ill in some way, and that this does not give them the opportunity to live well.

Question: What kind of illness will we feel? What are we ill with?

Answer: We are ill because we cannot distinguish good from evil and cannot accumulate the good in ourselves, integrate the good, so that it slowly, gradually covers the evil. This is a very difficult path.

Question: Does it mean that we will be looking for this good, that we should take like a pill to feel that we are complete egoists?

Answer: This is what will be considered evil. Because with our sufferings today, we are already inviting such an illumination of good light upon us, which can reveal where in fact our evil is within us.

Comment: This is the most important thing. You lead us to it all the time so that a person would suddenly see himself in this way: angry, bad, no good. You used to say the opposite: you still have this and that in you, you can.

My Response: This is there just to get started. But who are you? This is an absolute evil. But there is a spark that will lead you. We need to inflate it.

What Is Life Wasted On?!

49.01Question: People without exception are busy with diets and all sorts of food values. Now there are a lot of forums that are fond of organic food and promote it. Why have we come to this state?

Answer: It serves us right! We must learn from our mistakes in order to return to normal living conditions. In the meantime, we see what’s going on. This is the method of Beito, with the stick to happiness, since we do not want to advance correctly.

We don’t want to engage in normal farming. Fifty percent of the food produced is thrown away, and fifty percent of the world’s population is malnourished. We are some kind of irrational creatures.

If you look at our Earth from the side, then humanity has come to absolute insanity over its many thousands of years of development and, of course, it looks just awful. People are engaged in exploiting themselves, making slaves of themselves.

And although they are dissatisfied with everything, they still continue to fiercely cling to their petty, mean existence, just to annoy each other, to show off in front of each other, to be no worse than others, to indulge their base aspirations for fame, nobility, and fake superiority.

What is life wasted on?! Life itself is also worthless! And what an end to it!

As a result, there is an accumulation of suffering, which should subsequently manifest itself. They accumulate, accumulate, and then come out. This is an accumulating process according to the rule of the system of nature, which “swallows and then regurgitates.”

Our egoism swallows everything into itself: our efforts, our helplessness, our unsolvable and unresolved problems, and then gives everything out, as if burping them. And then we see that we have come to a dead end, reached the bottom and are obliged to do something. This is how we develop.

“Were Jews ever really slaves?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Were Jews ever really slaves?

The people of Israel were a nation of slaves who escaped slavery in Egypt. This is what the story of Exodus discusses.

Being a slave means being enslaved to the human ego, our innate desires to enjoy at the expense of others, which determines our every desire, thought and action. Escaping that slavery means running away from the ego’s orders and rising to a different level. On the new level, we solely wish to observe the quality of bestowal, that it will guide our every desire, thought and action from now on.

What does “observing the quality of bestowal” mean? It means thinking about how to do good to everyone. Therefore, the escape from slavery in Egypt, as with all of the Torah’s accounts, is no historic story, rather it discusses our future development. We thus read such texts in order to learn about our future, what we will have to undergo in order to understand where we are headed. And it is written that we are headed out of slavery to freedom.

What is freedom? Freedom means being outside of the enslavement to our egos, that we think and act beneficially to everyone. We truly need freedom because once our sole wish is to benefit others, then we turn ourselves into conduits of the positive forces dwelling in nature: they pass through us to others. We then send everything we receive from nature to everyone, connecting everyone to nature’s quality of bestowal.

That state is called being a “trustworthy servant.” While it might sound like another slave-like state, being a connector between nature and humanity is in fact the greatest role that exists in our reality. It frees us from ourselves. It lets us realize the two desires that exist in reality—our desire to receive and nature’s desire to bestow—and we then take from nature what it wants for us, and take humanity’s deficiencies, and connect the two.

Glory to Pharaoh

115.06Comment: An interesting letter came from Anna: “I have been living in Cairo for 30 years. My husband is Egyptian, we have four children. I am a pediatrician and have already gotten used to living here. But it was not easy for me early on. I found you on the Internet three years ago and have been with you ever since. My husband knows about it and does not mind. But I always shudder when you talk about Egypt as evil, as egoism. I cannot get rid of the feeling that you are also talking about the Egypt I live in, which I started considering my homeland. Why not Greece or Italy, but Egypt. Can you explain?”

Answer: This particular root is called so. By the way, we owe all the good things to it. No one has done better for us than Egypt. It kept us, saved us, and reared us. We developed into a free nation and wished to become free ourselves. It is all thanks to Egypt.

In fact, I do not believe that the Egyptians treated us cruelly. They were very developed people within the framework of earthly life. Very cultured, serious people. And what kind of life was it, how long did they live in total, 25 years?

Comment: It is said: And Pharaoh arose and began to oppress the people of Israel, and their work was hard. It says that it was hard and difficult for people.

My Response: I do not see this as bad, no. I have a very respectful attitude toward Egypt in general, I would even say somewhere deep down a loving attitude because it brought us up, it formed us. We entered it as a crowd, and Egypt formed us and raised us to the level of good egoism.

It showed us with its oppression what freedom is—the opposite of Egypt. It even sacrificed itself so we would strive for freedom.

Question: Is Egypt then evil?

Answer: Of course it is evil. This egoism developed in us on purpose. Pharaoh is our great friend.

Question: So what should I say to Anna?

Answer: Live and enjoy with the feeling that you are in the right place.

Question: What would you say about Egypt as evil and as egoism?

Answer: It is the evil that heals. Like poison used to make medicine. Therefore, give respect to Egypt. In short, do not curse, do not spit into the well, but realize that you exist because of it. This well has raised you and made you a nation.

Question: So we entered Egypt, as you say, as a crowd and came out a true nation?

Answer: Nomads who do not know nor understand anything entered. Absolutely! And everything that is in us we understood, saw, and learned from the Egyptians.

Comment: I see. But still you are talking about Joseph and his brothers…

My Response: And who were they? They did not know or understand anything.

Question: So, should I say “Glory to Pharaoh”?

Answer: Yes. You must kiss the stick that teaches you. Is there another way? It is impossible to advance without suffering. And if suffering advances you, respect the suffering.

“How do you get the most out of a relationship?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: How do you get the most out of a relationship?

We can get the most out of a relationship by first taking into account that we are parts of nature’s interconnected and interdependent system, and that we each have roles toward one another in this system.

That is simply how nature sets us up. We have to accept this as a given and seek how to correctly use this given, i.e., to give each other the opportunity to correct ourselves—to upgrade the way in which we view ourselves and the world as interdependent beings—in order to connect in wholeness and perfection.

In other words, it means that we need to reach a state of ever-increasing love between us. When we aim ourselves at achieving a state of mutual love in the shortest possible way, then it doesn’t matter what we experience on the way there.

Everything is headed toward a final state of love. If it will not happen right now, then it will take place in a few years, and if not in a few years, then in a few incarnations. Therefore, when we enter into a relationship, we should aim at no less than a state of complete and perfect love.
