Chosen by God and the Roots of Anti-Semitism

Question: As soon as Jews begin to settle into life in any country, their development goes through four periods. First, there is prosperity, then there is hatred toward them from the side of local residents, then physical destruction and exile. Is this how nature mixes all the nations?

Answer: No. This is how nature helps all nations, through the Jews, to become sensitive to the process of spiritual globalization. It is in this way that we can ultimately reach a state where we truly become one common whole and all the peoples of the world will be internally completely interconnected. This is considered as being “a light to the nations of the world.”

Question: Is this what it means to be chosen by God?

Answer: Yes. God’s chosen people are to become the light for the nations of the world, to tell them that connection over egoism is humanity’s common goal so that we will achieve perfection and shift to another state of existence. While we fail to do so, we see such an irrational attitude toward Jews around the world.

Remark: Of course, one can disagree that anti-Semitism is a law of nature, but one cannot disagree with the fact that this is a mysterious and irrational phenomenon. No matter how many innovations Jewish people try to give to other nations in the fields of medicine, astronautics, the Internet (Google, Facebook), etc., nothing changes.

My Comment: This will not help. Jews gave the world, naturally, much more than any nations that are tens or even hundreds of times more in quantity. This is not the case.

The fact is that disgust, hostility, and hatred of these people comes from a spiritual principle. We must, as a chosen nation, show people that our quality of being chosen is in our positive connection, and teach others to do so. And they are ready to accept it, if only we wish to teach them.

Question: Do the roots of anti-Semitism rest in the fact that the Jews do not fulfill their mission, do not transfer the methodology of connection to other nations? People who hear this may disagree with us.

Answer: It does not matter. The main thing is what they hear. Then they will see it in life.

Question: I would not agree if it were not mentioned in many sources. Maybe people interpret them differently?

Answer: It does not matter how it is interpreted; the main thing is that nature still does everything as it should.

Combination of Two Qualities

Question: Why couldn’t the methodology be immediately passed on to all nations? After all, the Creator, nature, can do anything.

Answer: No, this is not done at the will of the Creator. We think that the Creator is the supreme being who chooses and creates according to His will. But this is not so.

The Creator is the upper force of nature, which, being in complete bestowal, connection, and love, builds something completely different form for itself—matter, which is in receiving, discord, and hatred. By combining these two qualities, by discovering their opposites and combining them, the creatures will be able to reveal the Creator.

Everything comes from the quality of reception and the quality of bestowal. As they start to be combined with each other, they form a huge system of mutually opposite and overlapping connections. This is exactly what we have.

Question: In modern terms, does natural selection occur?

Answer: I would not say that this is selection because nothing is selected or pushed off here, but just the gradual combining of two opposite qualities, reception and bestowal. There is nothing except for these two.

Remark: Historians say that several hundred thousand years ago on Planet Earth, there were about 20 species of people at the same time. One of them survived—this is the Homo Sapiens (intelligent man). Nature has made it so that they had the opportunity to cooperate.

My Comment: This is all built on inner desires that are in the inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human states.

In a person or group of people, a desire is manifested, and they behave according to it. We see how people act. Only according to some of their own inner motives.

Comment: In the spiritual, all phenomena, people, and the whole world are like inside one person. The way they behave and what they do, it all happens in me. And I perceive all the bad and good events as happening to me.

And in the material world, everything is divided into many objects that are divided into still, vegetative, and animate nature.

My Response: This is due to the fact that our desires can be on two levels.

At the level of our world, they are completely different, even antagonistic to each other. And then we feel a different antagonistic, disassembled, torn world. This is what we perceive in our egoistic properties because they are antagonistic to each other.

And in the spiritual, since these same properties tend to interact, complement, and connect with each other, we feel a single device, a single world.

Comment: Rabash in article 18 writes: “It should be remembered what “Israel and the people of the world” mean from the rule that everything is in one person. Then the property “Israel” is called “bestowal,” and all its actions are only in bestowal, and this is called the “good inclination” in man, and the nations of the world are called the “Kelim of reception,” and this is the “evil inclination” in man.

My Response: In principle, these are two types of desires that manifest in our world as two groups of people: the people of Israel and the peoples of the world. But in fact, all this is felt inside one person.

There are millennia-old works of Kabbalists who have tried to more or less clearly state this for the people.

Two-Fold Attitude Toward Jews

Remark: Envy is one of the causes of anti-Semitism.

My Comment: I completely disagree with you. This is a rather superficial explanation, the outer shell of the essence. In fact, anti-Semitism has flourished in all ages, even when the Jews were the poorest people persecuted throughout Europe.

Remark: Nevertheless, Jews are respected. Churchill said: “But no thoughtful man can deny the fact that they are beyond question the most formidable and the most remarkable race which has ever appeared in the world.”

My Comment: The attitude of the nations of the world toward the Jews is very interesting: they respect them, on one hand, they even fear them in some ways, and on the other hand, they hate them. In general, the peoples of the world constantly have a dual attitude toward Jews: respect and fear, approval and hatred.

One cannot be without the other. You cannot hate someone if you do not think they are strong, special, significant, or important in your eyes. It haunts you.

Remark: Moreover, they hate or love not for any accomplishments in the field of finance or culture, but as, for example, the English philosopher Chesterton wrote: “In a purely historical sense and apart from any other controversies in the same connection, it throws light, a single and a steady light, that shines from the beginning on a little and lonely people. In this paradox as in some riddle of religion of which the answer was sealed up for centuries, lies the mission and the meaning of the Jews. It is true in this sense humanly speaking, that the world owes God to the Jews. It owes that truth to much that is blamed in the Jews, possibly to much that is blameable in the Jews..”

Russian writer A. Solzhenitsyn considered: “The role of the small but energetic Jewish nation in the vast and expansive history of the world is undeniable, powerful, persistent, and even salient. Russian history included. But it remains a historical mystery for all of us. For the Jews as well. This strange mission by no means brings them happiness either.”

My Comment: Nevertheless, all these great people were at the same time anti-Semites.

The Challenge of Our Generation

Question: Why were the Jewish people sent into exile and scattered throughout the earth?

Answer: In order to absorb the roots of all the peoples of the world, pass to them the correcting technique and reconnect as in ancient Babylon, but at the next level.

The source of the exile of the Jews was unfounded hatred. Therefore, only overcoming it will become the reason for the unification of the people and the fulfillment of their historical mission in the future.

Question: Can one say that hatred of the property of unity is hatred of the Creator Himself?

Answer: Yes. This is the way it is.

Question: The Creator, the highest power or nature, created us as egoists; therefore no one is to blame for what happened throughout history. All this is the manifestation of selfishness. What should we understand from this?

Answer: Just what should be done in our generation. What happened in the past has passed. In our generation, we are obliged to unite and unite the rest of the world.

The Source of Good and Evil

Question: For a thousand years before the destruction of the Second Temple, the Jews, who have the method of connection, were in this unity with varying success. But gradually they lost it, as egoism grew it broke their unity. The people forgot the method they had once acquired and even began to hate each other. Where did this hatred come from?

Answer: Hatred comes from nature. This does not depend on whether people are aware of where it comes from or not.

Jews do not understand why they are Jews and what is required of them. And the nations of the world do not understand what they need from the Jews. But internally, the nations of the world feel that the Jews are the source of their good existence, and they are not providing this for them.  They are, in a way, robbing the nations of the world.

This is especially evident in recent times. During the last century to this day, Jews have done well in science, art, culture, finance, and industry. And by this they seemingly steal from all the nations of the world.

Question: What does “steal” mean?

Answer: If they succeed, it means they take someone else’s place and earn the billions that others could have earned.

Comment: But they do it honestly.

My Response: It doesn’t matter. I envy a man who has earned his income honestly, but I don’t have it myself.

The Book of Zohar—A Technique of Exaltation

Question: Rashbi, the author of The Book of Zohar, lived during the time of the Roman Empire. As an ardent opponent of the Romans, he hid in a Cave in Pkiin for 12 years with his son. After 12 years, they left the cave, gathered eight more people, and wrote The Book of Zohar.

What is so special about this book? Why is it written in an encrypted language? Was it not possible to explain the need for unity of the people in a simpler way?

Answer: No. This book is not about the unity of the people. This is a technique of exaltation of the soul, not an ideological treatise on how to attract people, bring them closer, and explain to them that they need to unite.

Question: What does exaltation of the soul mean? Is this not a union with others?

Answer: Exaltation of the soul occurs when a person, together with other people like him, rush to the Creator, that is, to a single force. So, they unite among themselves.

That is, The Book of Zohar is not intended to educate common people. It describes the comprehension of those who are already in a union.

Question: Can we say that this book is a technique for correcting egoism?

Answer: No. It talks about how, as a result of a gradual, step by step correction of egoism, a person reveals the upper force.

Question: Why, let’s say, are the Mishnah or Talmud intended for the education of the people, but The Book of Zohar is not? What is the difference?

Answer: The Mishnah is written in a completely different language. It does not oblige anything: just teach it and that’s it. We see that people still study the Mishnah, but it does not change the people at their roots.

Question: That is, the Mishnah is written in a simple historical language. Do people understand its stories and parables?

Answer: Yes. It reflects the spiritual world in an allegorical form.

Question: The Book of Zohar speaks of all kinds of abstract phenomena divorced from the life of an ordinary person. The Kabbalistic language describes Sefirot, Partzufim, etc. Was it hidden because of that, and people could not understand it?

Answer: No. It was supposed to be open only when humanity really became worthy to use it for spiritual ascent.

The Inner Root of the Jewish People

Remark: There is a joke about a person who lands on a lost island and finds one Jew there. The Jew shows him his possessions, including two synagogues. The man asks him: “Why do you need two synagogues?”—”In one I pray, but I am never setting foot in the other.”

Basically, such relationships accompany us throughout the history of development.

My Comment: This speaks of the inner root of the Jewish people, which consists of two parts: biological and spiritual.

If, according to the spiritual part, the people should unite, then according to the biological part, one feels rejection from everyone else. They are not his blood brothers and have nothing to do with him on all earthly levels—only on the spiritual one. The spiritual level must be achieved because it is broken, the opposite of the material level.

Naturally in these people there is absolute distance from each other. And only mutual hatred of the peoples of the world keeps the Jews in some framework so that they do not scatter and are not completely assimilated among the peoples of the world. Therefore, thanks to their haters, the Jews still somehow stick together.

Bearing the Method of Connection

Question: The Creator, the quality of bestowal,  good, created creation opposite to Himself. It is said by Rashi and many other Torah commentators: “The instincts of man’s heart are bad from youth.” What do you mean from youth?

Answer: From infancy. Every person is born an egoist.

Comment: It turns out that our hatred of the Creator is natural because we are the opposite from Him. We like to receive, but we don’t like to give. Or we like to give, but with the intention of receiving.

My Response: And to get as much as possible.

Question: Does it mean that hatred of the Creator comes from our root?

Answer: Yes, the antithesis of the Creator was originally inherent in us; we must correct it to the opposite—to love Him.

The people of the world do not have this root, so they have nothing to correct. They simply join us to the extent of our correction. And if we don’t improve, they feel that we, the Jews, are bringing negative energy into the world.

Question: Even the Talmud says that if the people of Israel repent, they will be saved, and if not, “this will be your burial place.”

The Creator singled out a group of people from all nations, forcibly united them, and gave them a method of connection. And then what?

Answer: In the time of Abraham, the Creator placed the aspiration for Him in some Babylonians, and Abraham united all those who, at his call, aspired to attain the Creator. So the group was formed, which became known as “Israel” (“straight to the Creator”).

Comment: Later, when the Jews gathered at the foot of Mount Sinai, the Creator set a condition for them: either you accept the Torah, the laws of bestowal, the laws of unity, or here will be your burial place.

This means that there is a people who received a cure for all problems, because only by approaching the Creator can we solve them.

My Response: This cure is to rise above our egoism. And you can rise above it if you really ask for it, and not alone, but together with the others. You will gather many people who will turn together to the Creator so that He will rid them of their egos and give them the quality of love and connection between them.

Antagonism within the Jewish People

Comment: Throughout the course of human development, there has never been a nation that has been subjected to greater persecution than the people of Israel. Some people say this is irrational. From your materials, I see that this, on the contrary, is rational.

My Response: Super-rational! This is the law of nature.

Question: What is the root of this hatred? As far as I can see, it lies in creation itself.

Answer: Man was created an egoist, but he was given a method of correcting his egoism. It is found in the people of Israel, that is, in a small group of people organized in Ancient Babylon in the time of Abraham, as described in the Torah (Bible), by Flavius Josephus, and in many other Jewish and non-Jewish sources.

In the hands of the Jews is a method of uniting peoples, rising above egoism, reaching the highest comfortable level both in earthly existence and in the unearthly. This means that even during material life, a person can begin to feel the next level of existence and dissolve the boundaries between the earthly and the upper world.

Since this is all embedded in our methodology, the wisdom of Kabbalah, the Jews tried to implement it, especially after leaving Egypt during the time of the First and Second Temples.

This happened in a constant struggle between them. After all, there were groups among the people who advocated the implementation of this method of connection and achieving a spiritual level, a sense of the upper world in this world, and groups who believed that it was impossible or not necessary because, as they thought, there are still other opportunities for a comfortable existence.

Thus, in the people of Israel, there has always been a great opposition of opinions up to the point of civil war. This continued until the complete exile during the period of the Second Temple. Therefore, there was no need for anti-Semitism from the peoples of the world who did not like Jews. Before the advent of the Christian and Muslim religions, they were practically non-existent.

Question: So the hatred was between the Jews themselves?

Answer: Yes, there were many different currents within the people.

Comment: For example, during the Roman Empire, the people were divided into Sadducees and Pharisees. Then the Maccabean war was underway not with the Greeks, but with the Jews who had adopted Hellenism.

My Response: Even during the period of the First Temple, large groups of people formed who were antagonistic to each other.

Comment: In addition, it was not the Egyptians who prevented the Jews from leaving Egypt but a layer of Jews called the “mixed multitude” (Erev Rav).

My Response: It must be said that although during the Crusades or in medieval Europe there were pogroms and persecutions of Jews by the surrounding peoples, the source of it came from hatred between groups in the Jewish people themselves.

All this is based on the spiritual principle. Among the Jewish people, there are those who believe that Jews should fulfill their spiritual function, meaning reveal the Creator in this world for themselves and for other peoples. And there are those who say: “No, we can exist as others. And our religion is given to us to fulfill on a normal, everyday level.” This is what is happening today.

Question: So, the dispute is about what is chosen by God? Do I have to fulfill some external commandments and for this I will have future peace and power over all peoples, or do we have to unite and spread the method of connection among all the people?

Answer: And with this, as it were, to serve them, to become a light for other peoples. In fact, this is a big job, to care for the correction of the whole world.
