One Fate For All

laitman_629_4Question: What is a woman’s fate and what is a man’s fate according to the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: All of mankind have the same fate. The Creator gives every person a specific opportunity to get close to Him. Implementing this opportunity is called a successful fate and not fulfilling it is called an unsuccessful fate.

This is the only way a person’s fate is expressed, nothing else matters.

Pleasure And Emptiness

laitman_538Question: What is the benefit people developing spiritually, if they can, and so to receive maximum pleasure in the physical world?

Answer: If they can get pleasure, let them live the way they are. The Creator gradually develops a person’s egoistic senses until he realizes that his existence is insignificant, temporary, and does not carry any meaning.

The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t appeal to people who are still fulfilled with physical pleasures. On the contrary, the Kabbalists hid it for many years until we reached the “edge” in the framework of the general world crisis, which only now is beginning to develop significantly.

The crisis leads us to a state in which we need to answer the question about the meaning of life. Without it nobody would want to exist: Either give me the answer to this question, or I’ll kill myself.

The person will feel the finiteness, the limitation, the nothingness of all of the passing physical fulfillments, so much so that he will not want anything, even if a tremendous pleasure is “shining” in front of him.

The reason that people are becoming depressed and need drugs is because they don’t want to deal with this state of emptiness and reception of pleasure, reception of pleasure and emptiness. They don’t see any ultimate meaning in this. They prefer to inject themselves with something and shut down.

Our development doesn’t permit us to live like a little child who constantly enjoys various empty things. So we have reached a state in which the wisdom of Kabbalah is beginning to be unfold to humanity.

Is Everything In Vain?

laitman_627_1Question: Mankind has made impressive achievements, they have discovered continents, developed transport by air, sea, and land, and they have reached Antarctica and flown to the moon. What is the benefit of all of this development?

Answer: Nothing has been done in vain. All the achievements of humanity have been necessary so that human beings will understand that their development is not in this.

We have evolved for hundreds of thousands of years, but it has been insignificant relative to spirituality because it is not at all the evolution through which we will later grow but only a negation of physical existence.

We must be within this physical “point.” The sense of our universe and everything that came after the “Big Bang” is basically just a small black dot that exists so that it will be known that within it nothing is found, whereas evolution must go beyond the limitations of that point. And then humanity begins to go out to the upper world.

When a person looks from a different perspective, he sees a small black dot that is finally beginning to evolve in the right direction, precisely by negating its material existence.

A Man Or A Beast

Laitman_712_03Question: You keep saying that a person who doesn’t ask the question of “who am I and what am I living for?” is on the animal level and when this question awakens in him it is a sign that he develops to the human level.

If the Creator is whole and perfect and has created only perfection, the beast to serve man, and man to serve the Creator, why are we called the animal level?

Answer: When we are managed by pleasure or sufferings, we are on the animate level of our development. When the desire grows in people, a yearning to discover the meaning of life appears. This is an egoistic desire, which is higher than the instinctive beastly desire according to which a person only wants to manage in this world in the best possible way.

The desire to attain and to know the meaning of life on the other hand, leads a person to study the wisdom of Kabbalah, and he begins to develop himself by his efforts to resemble the Creator. To the extent that he resembles Him he is called man, Adam, stemming from the Hebrew word “Domeh,” to resemble the Creator, while in his natural desires he remains a beast until he corrects everyone so that they resemble the Creator, the attribute of love and bestowal unto everyone!

Peace Is But A Dream

Question: How can we stop envying those who live much better lives but refuse to listen to the wisdom of Kabbalah or about spiritual work?

Answer: I can’t imagine living a peaceful life. I am already about 70 years old, I am retired, but why calm down…?! What then? If someone is about to die, there is nothing to be done about it, but what if you want to live more, what then? Should you forget about the meaning of life, not develop, not attain anything, not grow as a human being? A person should have a certain degree of self-respect. Am I a human being or a beast?

Question: Does this mean that life for you is a continuous search?

Answer: I think this that is not only for me. A person needs a good environment that will lead him to that, support him and agree with him. Then life will be interesting and pleasant and he will really do something meaningful in life.

Question: It seems that you are not going to be a fishing enthusiast who fishes all night until dawn.

Answer: I once tried to join a friend who really loved fishing and we went out fishing a couple of times, but I couldn’t find anything that filled me in that.

Question: Is it possible to combine activities?

Answer: You can combine anything. The question is whether a person finds peace in it. I didn’t. I really love music, good cunning comedy films, and good jokes. I love to learn new things. I have visited many places all over the world and found it interesting, although on the other hand, this world is like a point that disappears on the background of the wisdom of Kabbalah. The main thing is that a person has a goal that leads him forward and he grows. A person should do that since we will have to fulfill the plan of creation in any case.

The Creator On Trial

Laitman_182_02Comment: If I could reach your Creator, I would want Him to account for all of history!

Response: Generally, I agree with you. And even the Creator Himself is not against people turning toward Him, even with their accusations. Because otherwise they do not turn!

Everyone in the world complains about his life. Understandably, everyone is right about something or even about everything. After all, it is not the person who places himself in all kinds of situations and unpleasantness; it is his nature, his lack of understanding, his lack of foresight, the unpredictability of the world. So in what way can we come to anyone with complaints?

If we look at his fate, at his behavior, we discover that each one of us is born, lives, and dies not according to his desire. Even our actions are determined according to circumstances and characteristics that are established in us from the start and not according to our desire. So a person is not free in regard to anything.  If so, there is no one to complain to!

But the originator of all that is happening, who created  everything, is ready to hold him. He is also ready for us to arraign Him. Because during the trial of the Creator, with all of our claims and accusations, we learn His attitude toward us, the reason that He made us is so small who are punished by nature. We discover the goal of our creation and our destiny. We will understand why we were born, live and die in suffering.

Ultimately we will begin to understand that all of our claims are toward our Creator, and it is specifically Him that we want to bring to court!

It is precisely the wisdom of Kabbalah that clarifies the problem of the mutual relationship between a person and the Creator. Therefore, it is the most important science in the world because a person has nothing more important than clarifying these relationships. In nature, there is nothing more than this!

Life Is A Continuous Movement Forward

laitman_760_4Question: Why does a person constantly doubt what he previously believed to be true? Could a time come in which even the smallest revelation will not be rebutted?

Answer: No, otherwise we would have no motivation to move forward. The entire evolutionary process of what we know and of our attributes is based on the law of negation of the negation.

We always deny the past and build the present on top of it, and then deny the present and build the future. Don’t try to freeze yesterday or today because in this way you make everything freeze. We must accept the fact that our life is a continuous movement forward.

Understanding The Goal Of Life

Laitman_712_03Question: There are scientists today who say that we exist unconsciously. Can we say that the difference between the spiritual world and the corporeal world is in existing consciously or unconsciously?

Answer: We automatically exist in a totally unconscious manner and don’t understand who we are at all. We don’t understand what we are and why we are living. All the organs and the cells in our body, everything that surrounds us, plays on us and we feel the moment we live in.

Therefore, we have no opportunity to change anything. There is no freewill whatsoever. Everything is predetermined and we are operated in different situations so that at a certain point in our development we will be disappointed with our existence as it is and recognize its worthlessness, pointlessness, and emptiness and will begin to yearn to find the meaning of life.

The meaning of our world is to enable us to ascend consciously above it to the next spiritual dimension.

Question: What does consciously mean? Different desires constantly arise in me and I run to fill them with pleasure. Will I have to make up these desires by myself in spirituality?

Answer: At some point, a person grows tired of chasing the fulfillment of his desires and doesn’t identify with them anymore. He realizes that these are the intentions of his desires and that he constantly has to fill them. Although he feels pleasure in that, he doesn’t want it to control him anymore; he wants to independent and not addicted to these pleasant feelings.

Then he begins to think: “How can I rise above this? Why do I constantly have to chase various pleasures? Why do I always sell myself to these pleasures? Is this enough for my life? Does this satisfy me? Should I think about whether I need all this for? These are fleeting pleasures that change every second so my whole life comes down to chasing pleasure and minimizing pain.”

Question: What is the alternative for that in the spiritual world?

Answer: In spirituality a person begins to attain the meaning of his existence and this attainment fills him with an inexplicable feeling, an indescribable feeling, of attaining harmony, the upper existence, the truth, the real goal, everything that does not exist in the corporeal world.

If a person feels bad in our world, he has to change it immediately to a good feeling, and thus over and over again, and this becomes the goal of his life. In the spiritual world a person who attains the meaning of everything that happens and what is beyond him, creates a feeling of wholeness harmony, balance and eternity within him.

What Do We Live For?

An Instinctive Movement

laitman_628_2Question: You say that we have to take the opportunities that the Creator gives us. Are the sufferings that we feel these opportunities? How should a person who doesn’t have a point in the heart live in a world in which the spiritual ascent has already begun?

Answer: If a person doesn’t have a point in the heart, if he has nothing to do with the wisdom of Kabbalah, he doesn’t owe anything to anyone whatsoever. He can live his life peacefully until this point appears in him.

Such a person suffers because he still advances toward the revelation of the goal of creation, but he does so instinctively, subconsciously, by receiving blows, just as all of nature develops.

Purifying The Vessel Of The Soul

laitman_571_03Question: Are we responsible for all the sufferings that we encounter?

Answer: The Creator who created evil is responsible. It is written: “I have created the evil inclination; I have created the Torah as a spice.” If we change the evil to good, we will reach the level of the Creator. Everything in our world is arranged so that a person will dig and discover the problems in his nature, in the nature of his evil inclination, and will find a way to overcome these problems by properly using the method of correction.

If such questions come up, it means that a person is ready to start using this method, and then he gradually realizes why everything was created the way it is and not differently. Then it will be clear to him that the Creator is the special force of nature that includes all of creation, all of nature, all the upper levels, that are inaccessible to us now but which we will reveal.

When we correct the egoism the Creator intentionally created as cruel, immense, and universal, we become the managers of all of nature, both in our world and in all the other worlds. Humanity will ascend to the level of eternity and perfection even without having to die, we will simply ascend to the next level.

Humanity is at the level of development when the question about the meaning of life arises in most people. According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, this indicates that we have matured and reached the level at which we are ready to perceive and to adapt to the upper world.

Question: Why do we suffer if the thought of creation is for man to enjoy?

Answer: The reason is that we don’t correct ourselves. If we knew how to do it and started the process of correction, we would immediately feel better, climbing the levels of the ladder of goodness.

Comment: There is an interesting fable about this. A thirsty man stands by a stream of fresh water and tries to fill a dirty glass. The water seems tasteless, bitter, and he cannot drink it so he curses the dirty stream. This is how we often curse the Creator who sends us sufferings.

When a person finally realizes that the cause is not the water, but his glass, everything will change. He cleans and purifies the vessel and the taste of the water changes, then it becomes clear to him that the water in the glass was always pure, even while he suffered.

Answer: Yes, this is our life, but we will be able to enjoy life only if we can draw the right forces out of them.
