Kabbalah And Mathematics

laitman_219_01Question: A scientific mathematical device makes it possible to accurately and adequately describe our reality. For example, quantum electrodynamics describes the properties of an atom with fantastic accuracy through a mathematical method.

Can Kabbalah explain the adequacy and effectiveness of the mathematical apparatus? Many mathematicians and theoretical physicists think that mathematics in itself is a separate reality.

Answer: Mathematics doesn’t talk about things directly; on the other hand, it is a very concrete discipline. It is really impressive! In other words, mathematics is a language that suits absolutely all sciences.

The wisdom of Kabbalah, in practice, too, is built on calculations of heights and levels and grades similar to grading electronic charges, photons, etc. In Kabbalah, everything is built on the units of energy that constantly mix with and contact each other, connect with and detach. As a result, it creates in the observers (us) the sensation of this world.

That’s why mathematics serves as a basis for Kabbalah. On one hand, the word “Sefira” means “to shine”, but on the other hand it can be translated as “to calculate.” So in Kabbalah, as in all other disciplines, everything is built on calculations. It’s impossible to abide without calculations.

Kabbalah uses terminology that seems to be borrowed from psychology, philosophy, and even fairy tales: such as a mysterious transformation with a wave of a magic wand.

In fact, it is just a convenient description of a transformation of certain materials into another, an example of transition between different levels, etc., because such a language is more concise and clear to scientists. However, if it is translated into a mathematical language, one sentence can turn into a big book.

Kabbalah doesn’t relate to the Torah as a regular narration (story). For example, if it says, “Moshe took something and went somewhere…” it denotes a certain energy level at which human sensation rises from one level to another. Changing the properties of a person begins to expand in the description of something really huge.

Sometimes, in order to resolve a small mathematical problem, it is necessary to write a book that presents the problem in a way that the readers understand what the problem is about. The same applies here.

That’s why in Kabbalah the mathematical device is not obvious or clear. Gematria (numeric values of letters and words) is a different story. When an ordinary man reads books that are solely based on the language of Gematria, he won’t understand a thing, just as he cannot understand higher mathematics.

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: I don’t understand what I can do now personally to stop the terrorism?

Answer: We need to come and study. It isn’t possible to explain the entire wisdom of Kabbalah in a few words. But the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks only about carrying out the general and essential law of nature called, “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18). In other words, it explains that all parts of nature are connected together through good and fine relationships that complement each other  and it is specifically the people of Israel who are responsible for this connection.

Question: Suppose I start studying today, will the attacks in Israel continue and will people continue to be killed?

Answer: We have no other means for stopping the attacks other than learning how to love others. Nothing else will help us and the situation will only continue to become more severe. They won’t even let us oppose the terrorism in any way, since the whole world will be against us.

Next time, this wave of terrorism will be much worse. I don’t want to frighten you, but you need to understand that the situation will not change for the better. There is no reason to hope that leaders of the various nations will change and our situation will improve. This will not help, because everything depends only on us, as it is written, “The hearts of princes and kings are in the hands of the Creator” (Proverbs 21:1). So we should examine how we, meaning you and I, can manage the world.

Question: It is interesting that year after year new politicians appear who promise to solve this problem through different methods. But in the end, in the best of circumstances, everything stays as it was, and most of the time it only gets worse. But are you saying that only studying the wisdom of Kabbalah, meaning the method of connection and unity, can help?

Answer: That is how we compel all the rest of the peoples of the world to relate well to the people of Israel. This will influence our neighbors, without explanations and negotiations, and this will appease the mood in every Arab village or in Afula, Nazareth, Jaffa, and Jerusalem.

If we want them to calm down and even more that this, become our helpers and friends, we can do it: we only need to begin to study the wisdom of Kabbalah.

In the book, Shem MiShmuel by Rabbi Shmuel Bornstein from Sochatchov, it is written that” if Israel returns to unity, then hostile forces will have no possibility of harming them, for when they become one person with one heart, they are like a fortified wall before all the forces of evil.”

And this is not just the force of egoistic unity, which we see in this world, as in the Mafia. This unity makes us like the upper force of nature, and thus we gain the ability to influence the whole world.

Thus we assure that all unite and connect. By achieving unity between all the Jews, without any words, we enter into the natural order that also obligates everyone to unite.

Baal HaSulam writes that the people of Israel were created as a link, and to the degree that it corrects itself, it transfers its power to all the other peoples of the world, without a word. It is enough for us to unite amongst ourselves in order to influence the entire world in a good way. And we get a negative response from the world when our people remain separated and haven’t united them.

Pass To The Future World

Question: What qualities do we have to change in order to enter a new, unlimited world? After all, each of us has different properties.

Answer: We all have one common quality—the egoistic desire that makes us constantly pursue pleasure.

We live in this quality and do not want to change it because we don’t know anything other than the desire to fulfill ourselves. We envy other people’s content and we want the same. This is how we advance.

Actually, this is how this world advanced in the past, but today it is coming to an end. We have no desire to advance, because we see this development is aimless. What is the point in this endless race for new pleasures, like hamsters on running wheels?

People are disappointed in life, seeing they are just being used. They don’t know why they live. That’s why antidepressants and drugs are so popular nowadays. In the future, this awaits all of humanity unless a new goal and new possibilities are suddenly revealed.

Then we will rejoice that we became disappointed with this old world and saw that it wasn’t worth anything. Kabbalah offers us an opportunity to enter another world. Our lives for the last several dozens of years were only for us to want to rid ourselves of it. Today, we are in hell, but there is another world called paradise.

And we can enter this paradise, it’s very simple. We just need to open our hearts to others and connect with everyone. And now, not  yet with everyone, but only with the people who also want to enter this new wonderful world.

Question: What does it mean to open our hearts to others?

Answer: It means to become as one man with one heart, to connect our hearts. This is the condition of entering the world of the future. This is the only property that we have to change in us: opening our locked hearts.

It Is Impossible To Hide From People

What Do People Need God For?

Laitman_182_02Opinion (Freud):“At the foundation of all human deeds two motivations (instincts) are found, aggression and sex. Altruism, friendship, love, these are only utilitarian alternatives. A person is ready to love and be gentle, but his underlying motivation is always egoistic. …

“For our ancestors there were ritual objects or animals, sacred animals for each tribe. A totem is considered to be the primal ancestor of the tribe, the protector of the tribe. The members of the tribe call each other ‘brothers and sisters.’ It was forbidden for an individual to kill a sacred (totem) animal and eat its meat, the punishment for this was death. But killing and eating together is grace to the tribe; it creates a bond between them and God. With this they acquire the power of the loved animal. Later, through myths, religions gradually moved from animals who were considered gods, to people who were considered to be gods (a Centaur, a Sphinx). So also representatives of the cultural world sinned against each other, not asking for forgiveness from each other, but from God. Faiths moved to: Saying only good things about the dead, eating the ‘body’ of the crucified Jesus and drinking his ‘blood.’ …

“And so there are three systems of viewing the world:

  1. The ancient anti-mystical stage, among savages—through animals a person attributes to himself unlimited power at the time he carries out the ritual, eating the sacrifice.
  2. The religious stage—to understand the world and to calm fears, fear of the evil eye, going to soothsayers, transforming a staff into a magic wand, calling upon magic for help, something that typifies children and adults who have not matured, the person renounces the world for the benefit of the gods. But he manages the world with the help of gods, prays, lights a candle and contributes to the building of a temple and the like.
  3. The last system of worldview, the scientific, is appropriate for a mature society. There is no place for God; the person gives respect to forces and the laws of nature, thus understanding that he can only learn, explore and adapt to them.”

My Comment: Kabbalah is to open the eyes of everyone to a true (realistic) worldview: that our world is only the lowest level of the real attainment of absolute and eternal existence!

“The Observer Riddle: 5 Famous Quantum Experiments”

In the News (theoryandpractice.ru): “Nobody in this world understands quantum mechanics—that’s the main thing we need to know about it. Physicists have learned to use its laws and even predict phenomena based on quantum calculations. But so far it is not clear why the presence of an observer determines the fate of the system’s and causes it to make a choice in favor of one state. …

“Schrödinger’s Cat

“There are many interpretations of quantum mechanics, the most popular among them is the Copenhagen version. Its main provisions were formulated by Niels Bohr and Werner Heisenberg in 1920s. A central term of the Copenhagen interpretation is the wave function—a mathematical function containing information about all the possible states of a quantum system in which it simultaneously exists.

“According to the Copenhagen interpretation, only external surveillance defines the state of the system and distinguishes it from other systems (the wave function only helps to mathematically calculate the probability of finding the system in a given state. We can say that after observing, the quantum system becomes a classic: it immediately ceases to co-exist in many states at once in favor of one of them.

“This approach has always had a lot of opponents…, but the accuracy of calculations and predictions prevailed. However, in recent years the supporters of the Copenhagen interpretation are becoming fewer and not the least reason for that—the most mysterious instant collapse of the wave function in the measurement.

“The famous thought experiment by Erwin Schrödinger—cat, poor guy, was just intended to show the absurdity of this phenomenon.

“Let’s remind you of the essence of the experiment. Into a black box is placed a live cat, an ampule of poison, and some mechanism that can randomly put the poison into action.

“Let’ say, one radioactive atom breaks the ampule. The exact time of the radioactive decay is unknown. All we know is the period of its half-life —i.e., the time during which the radioactive decay will be concluded with the 50% probability.

“So, for the external observer the cat inside the box exists in two simultaneous states: it is ether alive, if everything goes right, or dead, if the decay occurred and the ampule is broken.

“Both states are described by a wave function (psi-function) of the cat that is being changed with time: as more time elapses, the greater is the probability that the radioactive decay took place.  However, as soon as the box is open, the wave function collapses and we see the result of this cruel experiment.

“So, before the observer opens the box, the cat will always balance on the verge of life and death. Only the action of the observer can define the outcome. This is an absurdity that Schrödinger pointed to.

“Electron Diffraction

“There is a source that emits a stream of electrons that flow towards a screen, a photographic plate. A barrier is placed on the path of the electrons—a copper plate with two slits. What kind of picture can we expect on the screen if we visualize electrons as simple little charged balls? Two illuminated strips opposite the slits.

“In fact, the screen displays a much more complex pattern of alternating black and white lines. The fact is that as the electrons pass through the slits, they start behaving not as particles, but as waves (similar to photons, the light particles, can be particles and waves simultaneously.)

“Then the waves interact in space with each other. Sometimes they enforce each other, sometimes weaken. As a result, a complicated picture made of alternating light and dark lines appears on the screen.

“However, the result of the experiment doesn’t change. If electrons go through the slit one by one, not as a solid stream, then each given separate particle simultaneously exists in both states—as an element and as a wave.

“Even one electron at a time can pass through both slits (an this is an important provision of the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics: objects can simultaneously demonstrate their ‘habitual’ material properties and exotic wave parameters.

“What has an observer to do with it? During similar experiments, when physicists have tried to fix with the help of instruments through which slit the electron would pass, the picture on the screen dramatically changed and acquired a ‘classic’ form: two light-struck plots against the slits and no alternating bands.

“It looked like electrons were unwilling to demonstrate their wave nature under the close eye of an observer as if they decided to adjust to the observer’s desire to see a simple and clear picture. Is it mystic?

“Heated Fullerene

“Experiments in the field of diffraction of particles were held not only with electrons, but also with much bigger objects—fullerenes—large, closed molecules that consist of tens of carbon atoms (for example, the fullerene of sixty (60) carbon atoms is in a form very similar to a soccer ball: a hollow sphere made of pentagons and hexagons).

“Recently, a group from Vienna University headed by professor Zeilinger tried to add an observer’s presence as a component of a scientific experiment. For that, they irradiated moving molecules of fullerene with a laser ray.

“After being heated by an external source, molecules began glowing; thus, they inevitably were visible to the observer.

“After this innovation was implemented and used in multiple experiments, molecules changed their behavior. Before, they were completely visible to the observer. They successfully avoided obstacles (i.e. showed the waves’ qualities) similar to electrons from our last example—the ones that penetrated an opaque screen.

“Later, when an observer stepped in, fullerenes ‘calmed down’ and started to behave as totally ‘law-obedient’ material particles.

“Cooling Dimension

“One of the most famous laws of quantum world is the Heisenberg uncertainty principle: it’s impossible to locate the place and the speed of a quantum object at the same time.

“The more precisely we measure the particles’ impulses, the less accurately we can calculate their positions. Quantum laws work at the level of tiny particles and are usually unnoticeable in our world of big macro-objects.

“That’s why recent experiments by Professor Schwab’s group from the US are valuable. During his experiments, quantum effects were demonstrated not at the level of electrons or fullerene molecules (their characteristic diameter is about 1 nm), but at little more tangible object—a tiny aluminum strip.

“A strip was fixed on both sides so that its middle was suspended and could vibrate under the external influence. In addition, next to the strip was a device able to detect its position accurately.

“As a result, the experimenters found out two interesting things. First of all, any measurement of the object’s position or its monitoring didn’t go unnoticeable to the object. After each measurement the position of the strip changed.

“Roughly speaking, the researchers defined with high accuracy the strip’s coordinates, thus according to Heisenberg uncertainty principle, changed its speed and as a result the subsequent location.

“Secondly, (it was totally unexpected), some measurements somehow caused cooling of the strip. So, the observer by mere fact of his participation in the experiment changed physical characteristics of the objects.

“Standstill” Particles

“As is known, unstable radioactive particles decay in this world not only for the sake of experiments with cats, but mostly on their own. Each particle has an average life-time that may, it turns out, be extended under the watchful eye of an observer.

“This quantum effect was predicted for the first time in 1960s, and his brilliant experimental confirmation came in the article published in 2006 by a group of Nobel Prize laureate in physics Wolfgang Ketterle of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

“In their work, the group studied the decay of a non-stable excited atom of rubidium (rubidium atoms decay into the ground state and photons). Immediately after the preparation of the system and atoms were excited, they and were watched by shining a laser beam.

“The monitoring was done in two regimes: constant (when small light impulses were constantly sent to the system) and pulsed (when the system from time to time was exposed to more powerful impulses.)

“The size of the effect for both regimes studied by scientists also coincides with the predictions. Maximal life of a non-stable agitated rubidium atom was prolonged by 30 times.

“Quantum Mechanics and Consciousness

“Electrons and fullerenes stop demonstrating their wave properties; aluminum strips cool down; non-stable particles freeze while decaying. Under a powerful eye of an observer the world changes. Isn’t it an evidence of the involvement of our intellect in the world around us?

“So maybe Carl Jung and Wolfgang Pauli (Austrian physicist, Nobel Prize laureate, one of the quantum physics pioneers) were right when they said that the laws of physics and consciousness have to be considered as complementary, mutually replenishing?

“But it is only one step to the recognition: the entire world around us is in essence an illusionary product of the mind. Scary? Then let’s again refer to physicists.

“The thing is that in all experiments described above, observers inevitably influenced the system. They illuminated it by a laser beam, used measurement tools… There is a general and very important principle: it’s impossible to watch a system and measure its parameters without interacting with it. However, where there is an interaction, there is an alteration of properties.

“It’s even more so when huge quantum objects interact with a tiny quantum system. This situation is described by the term ‘quantum decoherence’—an irreversible process of distortion of quantum properties in a system from the point of view of thermodynamics when it correlates with another large structure.

“During such an interaction, the quantum system loses its original characteristics and becomes ‘classic,’ i.e., ‘obeys’ a bigger structure. This explains the paradox with the Schrödinger’s cat: the cat is such a huge system that it just cannot be isolated from the world. The parameters of this thought experiment are not quite correct.

“In any case, compared to the reality of creation as an act of consciousness, decoherence sounds much calmer. After all, with this approach the entire classical world becomes one big effect of decoherence.

“As the authors of one of the most significant books in this field state, this approach generates a logical statement such as ‘there are no particles in the world whatsoever’ or ‘there is no time at a fundamental level.’

“Is it about a constructive observer or omnipotent decoherence? We have to choose between two evils. Remember: at this time, scientists are increasingly more convinced that there are quantum effects that lay in the very foundation of our thought processes. So, each one has to choose where ‘surveillance’ ends and reality starts.”

My Comment: Science in this world is only able to identify some of the effects that are “out of this world” that we are unable to comprehend through our properties and mind. The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t even try to explain them to the men of this world because, in principle, it is impossible due to the absence of our respective properties.

The wisdom of Kabbalah gives a person who is interested in attaining the upper world a chance to obtain the properties of the upper reality, thus to the extent of possessing these properties, one can become a “resident” of the higher world and explore it from the inside as we now explore this material world.

The Main Thing Is To Wait For Revelation

laitman_527_06Question: I have a question and I want to understand it with my intellect specifically, and not through emotions and feelings, but specifically to understand it with my intellect. You say that while we are reading The Book of the Zohar we need to grasp it as a cure, like an infusion, like a medicine, with no connection to whether or not we want to understand The Book or not.

However, I feel desire. I constantly feel some lack if I don’t read this book at least once a day. Something pulls me to the text. I want to intellectually understand what this attraction is.

How is it reflected on the intention if the texts simply interest me? Sometimes, I even forbid myself from hearing the reading of The Zohar and, on purpose, listen to another part of the lesson. Is this correct to do?

Answer: Listen to what you want and don’t limit yourself. The main thing is not to make a mistake, but to wait so that the Upper Light, the Surrounding Light, will complete its action, its bestowal, and then to discover its results: your clarification of the revelation of the upper world and the Creator.

A Spiritual Person

laitman_214Question: In our world, the term “spiritual” points to a wide variety of human characteristics, from a subtle and delicate understanding of art to all kinds of possible altruistic activities. From your point of view, who truly can be called a spiritual person?

Answer: A spiritual person is someone who possesses knowledge of the system of management of our world.

The upper world, or the spiritual world, is a system that influences us and totally holds us within its network. We can discover it, but only in tangible conditions. If a person carries out particular actions upon himself, acquiring particular characteristics, then he begins to feel the system of the higher forces and becomes a spiritual person.

Spirituality is a field that is involved with the arrangement of the higher forces that manage our world. It seems to us that this is found somewhere far away, but in fact, it is here next to us, but we simply don’t feel it.

The wisdom of Kabbalah exists to reveal this system to a person. It makes it possible for us to really feel the higher forces such that a person doesn’t merely feel this system, but through it, he begins to manage our world. To the degree that he becomes spiritual, he blends with the system of upper forces so that he can become integrated within the management of creation.

In this manner, the wisdom of Kabbalah is aimed at bringing all of humanity to the possibility of managing our world, our destiny, changing this world, but only through the system of the upper world. So, today we are finding that we cannot do anything with ourselves, with our world, with our lives.

We are in terrible situations. We don’t know what will happen to us tomorrow: Families are falling apart; children are leaving their parents; all the regular trends of society are crumbling; science and culture are at an impasse. Everything is disappearing somewhere, seeping through the fingers into oblivion. People are deteriorating into violence and useless aggression, emptiness, drugs, and meaningless lives.

The wisdom of Kabbalah explains this situation of the world to us. On the one hand, it is global, and, on the other hand, negative, nihilistic, and from this, a person will be able to understand that no other escape is left for him to improve his life, to understand what he is living for, to attain the meaning of life, but only through the wisdom of Kabbalah.

So, it is being discovered specifically in our time, whereas for thousands of years it was concealed and was called the hidden wisdom.

Specifically through revealing this wisdom, a person becomes ready to see the world through a system of higher forces of management, becoming ready to be integrated into this system.

When he rises above everything, he attains a feeling of eternity and wholeness. In other words, a spiritual person is someone who manages the forces found beyond the limits of the physical world, even beyond his fate.

Who Can Be A Student?

Laitman_001_01Question: Can I become your student? I became familiar with the wisdom of Kabbalah this year.

I read books, watch your video recordings, and have registered to the virtual course, but I would really like to know how you determine whether a person is ready to become your student. Is it because you can see the person’s level of readiness to serve the Creator?

Answer: A person determines that by himself according to the calling of his heart. If he has a real desire to discover the meaning of life, he has to develop it by his connection with people who study in our courses. Good luck!

Are There Mantras In The Wisdom Of Kabbalah?

Laitman_511_01Question: I visited one of your groups in Russia and asked: “What is your practical work?” It turns out that they have been listening to your lectures for years trying to become altruists.

One may think that other wisdoms don’t teach people to be altruists and to keep the rule of “love thy friend as thyself.” Some of the students in that group have been studying for more than five years, yet they have no idea what the practical work is. I am not immortal and I don’t want to waste my time on eternal theory. Since I have engaged in different mantras for 15 years I was surprised to find out that your teaching is only theoretical.

Every mantra has its special effect, but the problem is that all the mantras are disconnected and there is no clear sequence from the first to the last.

Answer: There are no mantras in the wisdom of Kabbalah. The practical work is connection and unity where the general force that governs the world, the Creator, is revealed. There is no mysticism, no promises, and no mutual obligations. The choice is yours! If the beginning of the soul is revealed in you, the point in the heart, you will be attracted by the wisdom of Kabbalah and you will feel that it offers you an opportunity to attain the meaning of life.

The Shattering Ended – The Shattering Continues

laitman_527_04Baal HaSulam, “Introduction to The Book of Zohar,” Item 57: …Imagine that there are people who study Kabbalah and attract the light of Infinity, lead the generation after them and the people follow them, and then all will be sure they will never err on their path. But if, instead of Kabbalah, people prefer to study other parts of the Torah, no wonder that the whole generation errs through their fault. So deep is my grief that I am unable to continue speaking about it.

Why did the generations in Israel descend lower and lower, and go further away from the interior of the Torah?

After the destruction of the Temple, there were still many people in constant attainment. Not all fell at once into concealment.

In fact, with the Shevirat ha Kelim (the breaking of the vessels), the highest Kelim descended below all, and those that were not as high don’t fall as low. Besides, there is also significance to the general mixing. Every Kli that falls drags the others after it and pushes those that fell previously even lower.

As a result, the original whole Kli,  all parts of which were as a single person with one heart that revealed the Creator, in the shattering gradually lost the revelation as the vessels fell from their previous height. The Study of the Ten Sefirot (Talmud Eser Sefirot) talks about this in Section 7.

History, too, serves as an example. We see how the destruction happened gradually, stage after stage, layer after layer, and continued for a long time. Accordingly, after the destruction of the Temple, for a long time, the spiritual illumination still hadn’t disappeared. After more than a thousand years, during the time of the Ari, many people still maintained the consciousness, the spiritual sensation. It is possible to explain this partially through the great troubles of the exile that held people above the Machsom (the barrier).

Later, after the time of the Ari, a new awakening began, an ascent, a slight call for correction from the side of the Reshimot (remembrances). And therefore, the Baal Shem Tov conducted his work.

It would be possible to ask, “Who gave him permission to do this?” However, the Ari called for correction and suggested his students to “go up to Jerusalem.” Rabbi Chaim Vital also writes about this in Sefer HaHakdamot (The Book of Introductions), and in our day, Baal HaSulam wrote the Introduction to the Study of the Ten Sefirot on the same basis.

So, for the Baal Shem Tov, there was a basis for beginning to act and awaken the people to inner work and corrections. He began to speak about the five spiritual worlds, about the Partzufim, about the Sefirot, about the Creator that is clothed in them, and so forth. Why did he and his students disseminate the new message among the people? It was because the crisis had ended by then.

Since then, since we are late with our corrections, we haven’t realized what has been given to us from above, just as we have encountered problems of a different type that have come from below.

Here we are talking about the Yeridat HaDorot (descent of the generations). This was discovered in the 19th century and especially in the 20th century. Despite the fact that the people received a push to return to the land of Israel, this hasn’t had any internal influence on us to this very day. The descent has continued, and we see how from year to year the people gave up the last connections of unity, even in the worst form. But in spite of it all, they are still holding it together. As of today, the shared values of the roots of the movement have disappeared without a trace, like the Kibbutz movement in the form in which it was born.

Baal HaSulam writes that all of this happens, of course, also among those who study the Torah. Instead of turning toward its interior, as all of the Kabbalists in all generations taught—as it was before the destruction of the Temple, according to the principle, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18)—they were drawn in an absolutely different direction where it was not possible to find love of others, mutual bestowal, and connection.

This is the reason for the situation we are now in. The generations descended lower, but the people still were not awakened. On the contrary, they continued to descend even lower, even in comparison to the state in which it was in the lands of the exile.

Indeed I have known the reason: that it is mainly because faith has generally diminished, especially faith in the holy men, the wise men of all generations. And the books of Kabbalah and The Zohar are full of corporeal parables. …And that is what prompted me to compose a thorough interpretation… (Item 58)

The books of the Kabbalists were written for Kabbalists, and the common man is not able to understand them. So, Baal HaSulam was compelled to write “The Sulam Commentary to The Book of Zohar.” This commentary, on condition that one learns it correctly, makes it possible for everyone to approach a true understanding and gradually advance toward the truth, to bring the concealed layers of The Book of Zohar down until it will begin to shine from within.
