New Life #398 – The Influence Of Exercise On Emotional Wellbeing

New Life #398 – The Influence Of Exercise On Emotional Wellbeing
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

Summary

Why does a person need to exercise to feel good and how does it help in creating connections between people? Exercise causes the secretion of substances and this makes us feel better. Activity can help mental, psychological, and even psychiatric problems.

Our body belongs to the animal world. It requires movement. Exercise relieves stress. Children constantly need to move, while adults are weighed down. In general, women move more than men. When our brain has a more rapid turnover of materials, emotional states are also changed.

It would be worthwhile to establish a social norm and example of daily exercise. This would make it easier for everyone. In the East, they begin the day with yoga, Tai Chi, and things like that. Every pose contributes to inner balance. Each nation has exercises that are appropriate for it. In the East it is yoga and so forth. In England there is soccer and boxing. Humans are systems built from many linked strata.

Therefore, physical activity has a mental influence. Physical activity contributes to relationships. It relieves stress and brings people closer.

The Obese Children Of Israel

laitman_565_01In the News (Ynet): “An upcoming report from the World Obesity Federation (WOF) has shown that over half a million Israeli children are overweight. Compared to European countries, the group in which the Jewish state is categorized, Israel is in first place for overweight persons and in second place compared with Europe and third place globally when children are included. …

“The report maps the state of children’s health in different countries and states that 28.8 percent of Israeli children under the age of 18 are overweight. The forecast for the future is worrying: The report states that within eight years, that datum is likely to jump 50 percent, and the number of obese and overweight children in the country is expected to reach 740,000, an unprecedented number by any measure. …

“Israel is in first place in the European group for obesity, with 12.6 percent of its children being considered obesity by this index. Globally, Israeli children are only behind their US counterparts, 12.9 percent of whom are obese. The European average is 7.4 percent for children. If children with BMIs of 25–30 are included, that figure increases to 23 percent of European children. …

“‘The parents need to teach their children how to behave correctly and to choose the right food amidst the jungle of advertisements for harmful food,’ concluded Dubnov-Raz. ‘Like a parent teaches their child how to act safely on a bicycle in the urban jungle—that’s how it needs to be with food. Otherwise, we’ll wake up in a few years, and we won’t understand how we got ourselves in this situation.'”

My Comment: The food products in Israel are of relatively high quality and we usually don’t indulge in high-calorie foods, but we still consume large amounts of foods.

The main reason is that we are a high-tech nation in which very few people have manual jobs where they engage in hard physical work. In fact, we are a high-tech nation in agriculture, computers, and military technologies, so it is only natural that people, including young people, sit for many hours and move very little.

How should we handle this process? We need to produce low-calorie food, and of course launch a campaign promoting participation in sports.

I believe that sports should become an integral part of our social frameworks since otherwise we will end up with a huge “army” of people who are sick and weak and have to be taken care of. It is of course better to invest a little in sports, in promoting participation in physical activities, than to invest in healing sick people. A person has to live a healthy life and die healthy.

Depression Is Getting Younger

laitman_564In the News (Independent): “A one-year-old boy was prescribed antidepressants by the NHS in Scotland, as prescriptions for the drugs soared across the UK. …

“The figures also showed the most common age group for antidepressants to be prescribed was for those aged between 14 and 17, and that girls were more likely to be given the medication than boys. …

“Though NHS guidelines state that under 18s should not be prescribed antidepressants, over 100,000 prescriptions a year are given to teenagers, according to the Daily Telegraph.”

My Comment: Egoism is growing and demands solutions; there are no answers. The question of the meaning of life is consciously or unconsciously felt all the time on the background of what is happening, but other than suppressing, pushing the issue before us…far away.

Friends Relieve Pain And Stress

laitman_940In the News (Science Daily): “People with more friends have higher pain tolerance, Oxford University researchers have found.

“’To test this theory, we relied on the fact that endorphin has a powerful pain-killing effect — stronger even than morphine.’

“The researchers therefore used pain tolerance as a way to assess the brain’s endorphin activity. If the theory was correct, people with larger social networks would have higher pain tolerance, and this was what their study found. Friendships may really help take the pain away!”

My Comment: All of us are completely interconnected in a single system, so to the degree we maintain connections between people, we can also share both good and bad feelings.

If we are connected in good relationships, unpleasant sensations completely disappear. If we take on concern for others in their place, then we necessarily free them from thoughts about themselves, from the ego, and they can feel the Creator.

“Cellular Communication Processes That Make Life Possible”

laitman_426Research (Oregon State University): “Researchers have discovered a mechanism of intercellular communication that helps explain how biological systems and actions – ranging from a beating heart to the ability to hit a home run – function properly most of the time, and in some scenarios quite remarkably.

“The findings are an important basic advance in how cell sensory systems function. They shed light on the poorly-understood interaction between cells – and they also suggest that some of the damage done by cancer cells can be seen as a ‘failure to communicate.’ …

“By working in communication and collaboration, most of the cells eventually decide what the correct sensory input is, and the signal that gets passed along is pretty accurate. …

“‘These processes of collective sensory communication are usually accurate, but sometimes work better than others. Mistakes are made,’ Sun said. ‘Even so, this process makes life possible.’”

My Comment: The proper interaction between all parts of nature is life. But it doesn’t exist on the level of human interaction. Therefore, in the overall picture of nature, we are no more than animals; we do not have the correct mutual communication of the human level. When we acquire it, through the wisdom of Kabbalah, we will discover life on the level of Man (Adam).

Life Without Friends Is Dangerous

laitman_959Comment: According to a study carried out by Harvard University, life without friends is as dangerous as smoking (Newsweek).

My Comment: A person is a system influenced by many factors: loneliness, sadness, fears, worries, all sorts of doubts and pressures put on him by society. All these factors can create great pressure, which could cause serious illnesses.

Comment: According to the study, the level of fibrinogen in the blood of lonely people who have very few ties with their relatives and have few friends is 20% higher than that of other participants in the study.

My Comment: A person needs to be in contact with society. It is our nature. Therefore, a lonely person constantly subconsciously searches for contacts, and if he doesn’t find them, he is under constant stress and pressure.

Question: Do you believe that young people who are involved in virtual relationships feel lonely?

Answer: Yes, in recent times loneliness is felt more acutely because there is no warmth in virtual relationships. But this is still a positive process because the growing loneliness leads a person to the recognition of evil. The question is how and whether it is along the long path of suffering or along the quick path of the Light.

The Result of Spiritual Problems

laitman_627_2Question: What is the spiritual root of not being able to give birth?

Answer: There are many problems today that will grow, expand, deepen and take on different forms. This is the result of our internal spiritual and mental problems. No matter how many medications we invent, we will not be able to do anything. We are constantly chasing our own tail, doing increasingly worse things, and then we have to invent medications to deal with the outcomes of our actions.

Do Not Put An End To Nascent Life

laitman_527_01Question: How does the wisdom of Kabbalah relate to abortions that are not associated with any danger to the embryo or the mother?

Answer: Every birth is a sign that we are participating in the correction of the world. Even on the animate level, an embryo and the future human being it will grow into has an opportunity to perform certain actions of bestowal. Therefore, it is important to keep it.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Laitman_514_02In the News (Science Daily): “Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a mysterious and maddening condition, with no cure or known cause. But researchers at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine, using a variety of techniques to identify and assess targeted metabolites in blood plasma, have identified a characteristic chemical signature for the debilitating ailment and an unexpected underlying biology: It is similar to the state of dauer, and other hypometabolic syndromes like caloric restriction, diapause and hibernation.

“Dauer is the German word for persistence or long-lived. It is a type of stasis in the development in some invertebrates that is prompted by harsh environmental conditions. The findings are published online in the August 29 issue of PNAS. …

“As many as 2.5 million Americans are believed to have CFS. It most often afflicts women in their 30s to 50s, though both genders and all ages can be affected. The primary symptom is severe fatigue lasting at least six months, with corollary symptoms ranging from muscle pain and headaches to sleep and memory problems. …

“Naviaux said, ‘And interestingly, it’s chemically similar to the dauer state you see in some organisms, which kicks in when environmental stresses trigger a slow-down in metabolism to permit survival under conditions that might otherwise cause cell death. In CFS, this slow-down comes at the cost of long-term pain and disability.'”

My Comment: This is a protective response of egoism that doesn’t receive a filling of pleasure, and therefore covers itself so as not to suffer. Humanity is still evolving, egoism develops, therefore, it can not constantly lull itsefl.  The time will come when a person will wake up and say “I have to find and decipher the meaning of life, the secret of life, and understand what we are living for. It cannot be that it is only in order to sleep.”

This is exactly what will spur a person forward because sleep is equivalent to death. It is the 60th part of death, but a person still has a chance to wake up and do something, and he will want to use this chance.

This is a natural period in human evolution when we want to close our eyes and not see anything because we have no solution, but we are nearing the point where the growing egoism will force us to wake up and to see the solution.

Question: Do you want to wake people up?

Answer: Certainly not, I am merely preparing the information for the moment a person wakes up by himself, because everything has to happen naturally according to the call of nature.

The Rising Number Of Depressed Teenagers

laitman_222In the News (WebMD): “In just one year, almost 3 million U.S. teens suffered a major bout of depression, a new government report shows.

“‘Adolescence is a critical time in a person’s development, and battling with depression can be devastating for teens unless they receive effective treatment,’ said Paolo del Vecchio, director of the Center for Mental Health Services at the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). …

“The overall rate of depression among young people jumped to 11 percent between 2013 and 2014, up from 9.9 percent the previous year, the SAMHSA report found. The report was published July 7.”

My Comment: The rate of depression will grow increasingly faster among youth according to the general growth of the ego. Adults have to provide youth with meaning in life, but they don’t have it either. The Bnei Baruch organization should start disseminating their ideas on the Internet, which is where the youth spend their time.
