Question: How can we strengthen the mutual guarantee in a small ten if we are hardly meeting twice a day?

Answer: We must constantly think about how we can express mutual support to each other during, say, half an hour when we get together. It is not just mutual support.

Arvut (mutual guarantee) means that we, as it were, replace the person himself and guarantee for him, as in a bank, when we sign a document of guarantee that we undertake to pay for him.

The same is true in spirituality. I pay for my friend with my efforts. I am ready to give everything to him so that from what I give him, he could receive spiritual fulfillment. So it is with each of us.

No one receives anything spiritual in his own desire! Never! Only when it is canceled before the group, and the group gives him its guarantee, that is, its signature, its Kli (vessel), then in this Kli he can receive a spiritual sensation.

Only this way! Otherwise, how can a person have the opportunity to receive something spiritual that consists of many opposite properties?

Only when he renounces himself, when he is ready to give everything to his friend, and the friend to him, then in this mutual exchange of guarantees, they create the necessary conditions for the revelation of the Creator in each other. This is the only way that it works. All of humanity, absolutely all the people, will have to come to this.

Rather, it is one’s friend who can lift his spirit through faith above reason. This means that one’s friend raises him from his state into a state of liveliness. Then, one begins to reacquire strength and confidence of life and wealth, and he begins as though his goal is now near him (Rabash, “They Helped Every One His Friend”).

We need to lead each other in such a way that everyone feels uplifted and that the strength, confidence, and approach to the goal can be obtained from our mutual connection.

I begin to feel that my friends are taking care of me, and this creates very interesting sensations in me. On one hand, I am pleased, on the other hand, it makes me anxious and obliges me.

When I feel this attitude of my friends, I can no longer take care of myself. But, on the other hand, how can I, based on this, do the same with respect to them? This is where mutual action begins, when everyone wants to be a guarantor, help each other and be with each other.

If we build our relationships in this way, then we will quickly have a spiritual Kli, and the Creator will begin to reveal Himself in it. Because the inclusion of everyone in everyone in a small group, even in the ten, even less than ten, is enough to reveal the Creator.

This task is now before us. Unity, mutual guarantee, mutual penetration, and complementation of each other should give us the inclusion of ten Sefirot in ten, ten, and ten. As a result, a “field blessed by the Creator,” divinity, is formed. It is in this field that the Creator is revealed.

In order to reach greater importance of the mutual guarantee and to be filled with love of friends, we must feel how much we are interconnected, interdependent, and responsible for each other and that we are getting closer and closer to each other.

There is me and the Creator, and all the people on earth connect me to Him. Basically, this is my group, this is the ten, which, as a central thread, connects me to the Creator. And all the others join in more and more. Thus, my connection with the Creator becomes broad, infinite, and unlimited.

The Creator gave us only one small point of connection with the group, and by this He inspires each of us to connect with Him. All the rest we have to do ourselves.

This is the meaning of mutual guarantee: We begin to feel that we are all tied together for one spiritual action, connection between us, and from between us to the Creator.

Question: How much can we worry about the quality of reception when we are in the quality of bestowal?

Answer: There is no need to worry about the quality of reception. You should care only about the quality of bestowal, about the connection between you. Reception in the required form and amount will be revealed between you anyway.

Question: What is the highest degree above us that we can rise to now?

Answer: I cannot tell you that, it is up to you. But, in principle, this is unlimited.

Question: Is it possible to achieve in the ten an equal attitude of each friend to work?

Answer: It is impossible to achieve an equal attitude. Everyone has their own initial conditions in the group, in the work, psychological and corporeal ones. In no way can we treat people equally! We just need to understand that everyone is in their own state.

Question: Why is all the rest of nature, inanimate, vegetative, and animate, not created in evil? These levels of desire should not resist evil, but a person should.

Answer: These levels are included in the person. We consist of all four levels of nature, and when we correct the highest level (human) in ourselves, then all other levels get connected to it and participate with it.

Question: What is mutual incorporation? What do I incorporate in me?

Answer: When we want to be with the same intention, then, as a result of turning to the upper light, it influences us and mutual incorporation of Sefirot into Sefirot, Partzufim into Partzufim takes place. Thus, we begin to really connect on the spiritual level.

Question: How does one measure the force of connection?

Answer: We do not yet know how to measure the force of connection because it will be revealed only as a result of attaining spiritual degrees.

Question: What kind of desire can I fill society with?

Answer: Of course.

Question: What in essence is prayer? And how can the ten bring forth a common prayer to the Creator in order to give Him contentment?

Answer: Prayer is a request in the heart when I raise my real request to the Creator. Like a child who cries to his mother although he does not even know who he is turning to. But he came out of her, he is connected with her, and he turns to her crying. And she hears him.

It is the same with us. We must turn to the Creator because we were born from Him; we fell from the quality of Bina into the quality of Malchut, and now we want to rise again into the quality of Bina. But we want to rise consciously!

This ascent will be called spiritual because we must rise above our egoistic desire (Malchut) into the qualities of the Creator (Bina). This is what we must do and ask for.

Question: If we must cry like babies to ask the Creator, then will we never grow up? Will we always be like children?

Answer: Of course. We will always be creatures and not the Creator. But we want to rise to the level of the Creator Himself. This is the purpose of our development. So, let’s try. He wants us to achieve this.

Baal HaSulam, Letter No. 57: Everything, small or great, meaning everything we have, everything we can attain in spirituality, is obtained only by the power of prayer. All the labor and work to which we are obliged are only to discover our lack of strength and our lowliness—that we are unfit for anything by our own strength—for then we (we are convinced about it) can pour out a wholehearted prayer before Him.”

By revealing that we do not have the strength and intention, that we cannot do anything, do not know anything, do not understand, and do not remember that we are just little egoists—that is all true, but it must be perceived correctly.

Despite the absence of a real desire in everyone, we gradually begin to connect and feel that nothing can help us except a cry. Like babies, what do they have? —crying. This is the only thing that saves them, and thanks to this they survive and grow. And, on the other hand, they have a mother who thinks about them all the time.

It is the same with us. We must shout and demand for the Creator to take care of us. The more we make efforts, the more we will feel like insignificant losers. And this is only in order to achieve perfect prayer.

And the Creator is constantly occupied with us until we realize and feel His work on us, His care for us.
