Rise Up and Connect

943Question: In relation to the events that are taking place in the world now, I have revealed a lot of evil in myself, and on the other hand, all my friends are righteous. There is a big difference between us. What is my further work to become like my friends?

Answer: Rise above our differences between each other, unite, and embrace each other whatever our problems may be.

Imagine that these problems come to us from the Creator; there is none else but Him. And despite this, we embrace, unite, and want to be as one whole. This is our job.

At the Seam of Two Lines

571.03Question: If the right line is perfection and the left one is imperfection, then what qualities should we take from the right line?

Answer: The Creator himself will lead you to the left line. All the bad will be there: rejection from friends, criticism of the group, etc. And in the right line, on the contrary, there will be everything that brings you closer to each other and to the Creator.

Question: If the right line is perfect, what is the middle line for?

Answer: The right line comes from above. We create the middle line from the left and right.

Restore the Common Connection

509Question: When there is an illness and a person goes to a doctor, does this distance them from the Creator?

Answer: Of course, it is distancing to the extent that we do not use it as a way of approaching the Creator. There must be the right intention.

Question: How can one correctly work internally with the intention so the illness of separation from the Creator is a minimum?

Answer: Be closer to friends and all together close to the Creator. First, there must be a connection between the friends, and from the depth of this connection, you can turn to Him.

That is, you will unite with your friends one on one. And once the connection among you is restored, from it, you will turn to the Creator.

May the Creator Gather Us into One Nation

944Question: I want to understand what I should wish for during the day, what Creator will people discover for themselves?

Answer: A Creator who can unite all people into one group, into one nation—the nation of the Creator. That is when we will be in the right state.

May the Creator gather us into one group, one nation, and teach us how to behave relative to each other and what to think and feel about each other. Otherwise, this whole picture will not end today or tomorrow and perhaps in many, many years.

We must demand from the Creator to show us the right direction in development and the proper position of any nation, all nations of the world, and how they should treat each other.

A Request from the Common Heart

935Question: We all have a common desire to achieve bestowal and a common opinion that we need to ask the Creator for bestowal. What are we still missing?

Answer: There is a lack of a real desire, a real aspiration, a real connection between us so that there is one desire with one aspiration. But this develops gradually.

Question: Is it possible, by means of the power of our desire, to raise a prayer so that the Creator will give us the property of bestowal?

Answer: Yes, of course. This is the only way it works: we ask, and the Creator gives; we ask and the Creator gives.

Question: If a friend in the ten suggests doing such exercises, should everyone agree?

Answer: Of course, the Kabbalist sages clearly speak about this. At the same time, our intentions are very important so that everyone delves completely into this request and is internalized as much as possible so that you all unite together and your desire is united as if coming from one heart, and so that you ask for only one thing: for your friend or for the Creator.

Question: If our friend is sick and cannot come to the lesson, can we ask for him as well?

Answer: Yes. If we really ask for a friend and pray for him, then we will add our strength, our prayers, and our requests to his request to be with us in good health. And then everything will work out.

Revision of Mutual Guarantee

528.01Question: Should I be responsible for a friend in the ten who is not yet ready for mutual guarantee?

Answer: No. In the ten, we reach mutual guarantee only with those who in turn can be in mutual guarantee. Therefore, it is called Arvut Hadadit, mutual guarantee.

Question: Let us say I guarantee for a friend, but the Creator shows me that he devalues it.

Answer: It means that your guarantee is worthless.

Question: Should we conduct a periodic revision of the mutual guarantee and verify what exactly we are responsible for?

Answer: Every time, in the morning, afternoon, and evening, you should check your state of aiming toward the fulfillment of the mutual guarantee; start and end a day with this.

Everything Comes from the Creator

238.01Question: How can we determine if we have a true desire for spirituality?

Answer: We can determine this only by our attitude to the group; as soon as I begin to understand that I depend on the group, then I have the correct desire.

Question: You say that we cultivate this desire (Hisaron). But isn’t it the Creator who cultivates it in us by coming closer to us and then distancing Himself from us?

Answer: Of course, everything comes from the Creator; there is none else besides Him. But we divide it into what comes from us and what comes from Him. Although in general, everything comes from Him.

The Ego Is a Deadly Poison

507.05Question: In Baal HaSulam’s article “What Is the Measure of Faith in the Rav” it is written that a person cannot determine the ascents and descents. Can’t I be sure whether I am in ascent or in descent?

Answer: In general, of course, you can. But we are often not able to determine this. If we take offense at something or condemn something, that is, sometimes our egoism pushes us out of the correct assessment, then we have no choice but to start all over again.

Question: What does a deadly poison mean and how do we prevent it in the ten?

Answer: The deadly poison is the egoism of each of us, the most terrible thing there is, and we need to run away from it anywhere we can. That is, it is as if I am standing on a balcony and jumping from the hundredth floor.

When Events Are Overwhelming

947Question: How can we act correctly when events in the outside world overwhelm a friend and alienate him from the group or from the spiritual path in general?

Answer: We have to wait. Events pass, and a person begins to think more independently, and frees themselves from the power of the media. Gradually a person will become convinced that all this must be balanced and not perceived as before.

I encounter this very often. During the war and during the many demonstrations and rallies people are under the control of their feelings, and they do not understand and cannot figure out what is really happening. Therefore, we need to cool it all down.

Question: If a situation arises where there is a surge of emotions about events in one country, then people begin to relate to the troubles in another country with some coolness. It turns out that even in our community “one’s shirt is closer to one’s body.” But this is wrong, isn’t it?

Answer: Right or wrong, we cannot judge. We must weigh everything regarding good connections between people because in the end, only this will help us understand the states we are passing through and come to the right agreement.

How to Get Closer to the Creator

942Question: How does a person have the strength to walk with his eyes shut if he does not see the greatness of the Creator?

Answer: A person receives strength through the group, through the friends. Even if he himself does not reveal and does not see the greatness of the Creator, by approaching his friends, he feels that it is in them.

Question: But how can he find himself in a low state without seeing at least some greatness?

Answer: He has the greatness of the group. He must raise the greatness of his friends in order to get closer to the Creator because the Creator is within them. That is why it is said: “From love of friends to love of the Creator.
