Taste in the Torah

509Question: What does it mean to enjoy the taste in the Torah?

Answer: This means that a person can be filled with the Torah and thus expand their Kelim, their inner feelings.

You should really try to define all your actions through taste. That is what it says: “Taste and see how good the Lord is.”

You should feel any of your actions as if by their taste, for your own sake or for the sake of the Creator, tasty or tasteless, how much, and so on.

Question: The Torah is called the state of perfection. What is the state of perfection and how can it be achieved in the ten, in the connections between us?

Answer: It is precisely in the connections between you that the state of perfection can be achieved.

When you unite more and more, then in connection with each other, you create a place where you can discover everything that the Creator wants to give you.

Master The Rule “Love Your Neighbor”

934If several individuals come together with the force that it is worthwhile to abandon self-love, but without the sufficient power and importance of bestowal to become independent, without outside help, if these individuals annul before one another and all have at least potential love of the Creator, though they cannot keep it in practice, then by each joining the society and annulling oneself before it, they become one body.

For example, if there are ten people in that body, it has ten times more power than a single person does (Rabash, Article No. 6, 1984 “Love of Friends – 2”).

Here the mechanism of absolute cooperation, the influence of one on the other, is triggered. When you are among people engaged in a specific activity and you also get involved in this work, then such a mutual example inspires and helps you. Therefore, those who study Kabbalah and want to master the rule “love your neighbor” should be in such a group.

Question: It is clear that the environment influences a person. We see this in our world too. But here it is written that in order to receive the desire of your friends, you must annul yourself. What does “annul” mean?

Answer: You should see them above yourself. They should set an example for each other in this.

Question: How can we do this? After all, a person is an egoist, he cannot see someone higher than himself.

Answer: He will see how his friends treat each other, honor each other, elevate each other, and he will also have such a need.

Question: Can a person annul himself before the other?

Answer: Yes, in the right group. The group must understand what its task is.

Learn to Bestow

938.02Question: Rabash writes in his articles that in a group of like-minded people, a person should openly show love for others to develop this feeling in others. But what about modesty?

Answer: What does modesty have to do with it? If I treat others well, why should I be modest? On the contrary by showing them my good attitude, I continue this line in the world. People can see that this kind of behavior is beneficial for everyone.

Comment: The fact is that according to Rabash, people should come to the group to engage in bestowing without any reward and not for the sake of reward. But if we bestow to each other and deliberately show it, it turns out that people will gather in groups for the sake of an egoistic pastime because they feel good there.

My Response: I think that also would be good in modern times.

We need to learn to bestow and try to bestow in practice to those friends who see that you are trying to implement what you are learning and thus really come closer to the correct interconnection.

Toward the Right Choice

237Man is made of three bodies:
    A) the inner body, which is a clothing for the soul of Kedusha [holiness];
    B) the Klipa [shell] of Noga;
    C) the serpent’s skin (Baal HaSulam, Shamati 36, What Are the Three Bodies in Man?).

Question: Is the inner strength the total strength of the ten?

Answer: If you can do that, then it is good.

Question: Do we need the other two bodies to strengthen the connection?

Answer: No, we strengthen the bond only through our common body. And the other two—the Klipat Noga and the outer body (snake skin)—are needed only in order to push of them to the right choice. And then we drag them into a positive connection and start using them for the sake of holiness.

Question: If thoughts are more important than actions, then where do they come from, from the inner body, holiness, from the Klipat Noga, or from both mixed up?

Answer: From everything together. As a rule, confusing thoughts come to us, and we have to sort them out and follow only the right choice. You should try to deal with these three bodies and always feel which one you are working with.

Basically, you always need to reach out to the right line, to the inner body, where you are most connected to each other.

Questions about Spiritual Work—58

276.04Question: How can you help yourself when you get trapped in your mind and thoughts paralyze you?

Question: It is said that when a person is honored to feel the taste of the Torah and the commandments, he pursues the service of the Creator. In this case, how can he not get into a situation where his pride and he himself are at the top of the climb? What can be called a genuine ascent?

Answer: When he does it only to bring contentment to the Creator.

Question: What does it mean that our soul teaches us in the ten? How do we enter into this system?

Answer: Connect everyone and constantly increase unity. Then you will begin to feel what faith above reason means.

Extending Vitality

543.01Prior to the sin of the tree of knowledge, vitality was not dependent on the bread. That is, there was no need to extend light and vitality, but it illuminated (Baal HaSulam. Shamati 36 “What Are the Three Bodies in Man?”).

Question: What does it mean to extend vitality?

Answer: Before working with the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, there is no way to be in connection with good and evil in order to perform actions between them to separate, distance them from each other, and put ourselves in the middle.

Question: Can we distinguish this vitality in the ten?

Answer: No. In the ten, we must act in such a way as to work with the inner body, i.e., with what concerns holiness (Guf de Kedusha), separate from Klipat Noga, what we can separate, and adhere to the inner body of holiness. And what we are not yet able to correct, we do not touch.

From Light to Heavy

947My Comment: In the article “Concerning Love of Friends,” Rabash asks the following question: “Should we know what each friend lacks in order to understand how to fill him? Or is mutual work on love of friends enough?”

My Response: When all the friends in a group have a common intention to come to such feelings as friendship, connection, love, and rapprochement, then of course it is necessary to understand what I have to do to a friend so that my actions are defined as giving and love, and as well what I should feel in this from a friend. It is very important.

That is, it is necessary to know what each friend personally lacks, and act in this direction.

Basically, Kabbalah claims that we move from light to heavy. We do not immediately rush to love the whole world, but we start in a small group in which there is interaction, and then we expand this to the whole world and to the Creator.

An Opportunity to Come in Contact with Kabbalah

528.03Question: In the article “Purpose of Society,” Rabash writes that a person should be proud that he was given a chance to come in contact with practical Kabbalah, because for thousands of years it was concealed and people had no opportunity to get to know it. How can we realize the importance of this opportunity?

Answer: To do this, you need to work in a group and strengthen your connection with the friends more and more.

Rabash gives recommendations on how to arrange the group, how to be in connection with each other, and how to start coming closer to the Creator’s qualities. This is how we gradually will come to a state where we feel the Creator.

Answer: No, a person only asks for greater connection with the Creator.

Question: It is said, “Sit and do nothing.” What kind of condition are we talking about?

Answer: We are talking about a bad state: if you do not know what to do, sit and do nothing until you feel the laws of new states revealed to you.

Are People Ready to Implement the Law of Love?

528.02Question: Kabbalah says we must create a group of like minded-people where everyone understands the ultimate goal—love of friends. But not everyone is in groups like ours; therefore, they want to apply this knowledge at work and in their family. Is that right?

Answer: If these communities are not prepared to embody the principle of love, it can be wrongly interpreted and eventually serve to divide people.

Preparation for its implementation should be combined with the study of articles explaining why this should be so, why all nature is based on love and not hate, and so on. That is, it takes many hours of education.

Question: Why can’t I find a group of people I can give to without any reward and train this way in order to come to the qualities of the Creator?

Answer: You will not come to the qualities of the Creator because you will not receive feedback from others. As a result, you will not have the strength to give.

You should see an example before you, hear how people talk about it, how they try to get closer to each other and discuss their weaknesses, and understand how their actions are contrary to laws of nature.

Therefore, you must be in a group that understands they are egoistic inside and are studying to become altruistic.
