There Is Nothing More Perfect Than A Deficiency

594There is nothing greater, higher, or more perfect than a deficiency of connection with the Creator. If I lack adhesion with the Creator, what could be better?

If there is a set table in front of me, then it is wonderful that I am so hungry that I am ready to taste all the treats on the table and give pleasure to the owner who cooked everything with love.

The deficiency is the only thing created by the Creator. The Creator lacked only a deficiency and therefore He created it. And we just need to learn how to work with the deficiency. This is the subject of the wisdom of Kabbalah, which teaches how to form the correct deficiency. If there is a deficiency, the filling will come.

The Union Of Sense And Reason

232.02In the external sciences, inspiration suppresses the mind, because where emotions take over, the mind stops working. As it is said: “Lost his head from love.”

But in the spiritual, everything is the opposite; here, feeling and inspiration adds attainment and generates depth. Spiritual love is initially built on restriction, screen, and reflected light, that is, on overcoming the desire to receive, unlike in the material world where we are drawn to wherever the desire dictates.

However in the spiritual, the desire for unity and love, for closeness, is built from the very beginning on rising above one’s desire. And therefore feelings and reason do not come into conflict, but rather both act in the same direction.

And besides, I am attaining something that is not in my senses or in my mind right now. I don’t follow my desires and hormones. Every step, both in sensation and in attainment, goes against egoism. And that’s why feelings and reason support each other and do not contradict.

Connection With The Creator

283.02A person’s attitude to the Creator is never simple because love and fear are always intertwined in it. On one hand I feel a great difference between our degrees and full control of the upper one over me. Since I am still within my egoism, I naturally try to adhere to Him egoistically.

Even if I change my attitude, I still remain dependent on Him and not free. This is why I feel animal fear. After all, I am His creation; the first word is always His, and the last word is also His. This is such dependence and control that we do not even fully recognize it, like little children who do not notice the control of their parents.

How, with all of this dependence, can I still acquire freedom of choice and freedom of action in order to have the right to say that in my devotion to the Creator I am the first and I am the last? Otherwise this connection cannot be called free if I adhere to Him as a slave to the master.

This is why we are given the Torah, to receive from the Creator strength and definitions in order to form the correct attitude toward Him. We cannot know the very essence of the Creator, but we study our connections and relationships with Him and better and better imagine this upper force that created us. By the actions of the Creator upon us and the whole world, upon the entire human society, we know His mind and feelings, the force that created everything.

Therefore our connection with the Creator consists of two components: the Torah and the work. In this way we build the image of the Creator within ourselves and bring our qualities to an ever-increasing similarity to this upper force that is unknown to us.

We as if collect all the qualities opposite to Him that we have discovered, and transform them into the opposite ones in order to arrange them in the correct form. Since they are shattered, we need to connect them correctly. From the obtained result, we will understand that this is the Creator, His essence, His form, His attitude toward us.

Through correcting the shattering we begin to understand from all its fragments what has shattered here and how to correct it, i.e., to connect, and what connection and dependence should be between all the parts so that they complete each other. In this mutual completing of each other, we reveal the divine wisdom so that in thought one part is connected with the other.

It is enough to look at our universe, how huge and contradictory it is, the shattering that we can see in it, and at the same time the connection, the dependence of one on the other. All this is one integral system in which nothing can be added or subtracted in any fragment, in any atom, or in any action.

At the moment it seems to us fragmented, but if we correct our mind and feelings, we will be able to assemble the entire universe into one system the way it really is: one desire and one force that is inside this desire. Then we will find ourselves in the state that existed before the shattering, which is called “He and His name are one.”

He is the light, the upper force of bestowal and love, that dwells in His name, that is, in the vessel, in the desire created by Him, which acquires the form of light, the quality of the Creator. Although the desire itself is opposite to the Creator, it works in the same direction, in the same inclination for unity as the Creator.

What Vessel Is Suitable For The Light

260.01The Creator fills everything, He is everywhere. We are in the ocean of the upper light, the upper force, which is good and fills everything. However, we can feel it only to the extent that we have a suitable Kli, a vessel. After all, we cannot come for water with a bag suitable for holding flour. What kind of Kli is suitable for the Creator in order to feel the upper force and even measure it?

This spiritual vessel is fear. Instead, we bring a Kli that is completely not suitable for the revelation of the Creator, and therefore we live in darkness. The only problem is the vessel because the Creator fills the whole of reality. There is nothing besides the Creator; it is the common force of nature.

The entire pleasure of the Creator is to reveal Himself to the created beings because this is how He can give pleasure to us. For now He is working on us in concealment and this does not give Him pleasure. This is why we want to reveal the Creator and be filled by Him in order to give Him pleasure. That is, we do not long to receive the upper light within ourselves, but we want to give the Creator the opportunity to fill us.

We want to express our love for the Creator so that He will be able to express His love for the created beings. All this is implemented by the mutual force of bestowal, in the reflected light from the side of the created beings and in the direct light from the side of the Creator.

Therefore we need to build a vessel for the revelation of the Creator, which is called “the fear of the Creator.” That is, we are afraid that we will not be able to provide the Creator with the conditions for filling us.

We want to give ourselves to the Creator so that He will fill us and enjoy us, do with us whatever He wants. Therefore, first of all we make a restriction on our egoism, on the will to receive pleasure for ourselves, and then we give ourselves to the Creator through faith above reason. To this extent the Creator will be able to correct our Kli and fill it.

The Creator knows how to turn us into a vessel suitable for His light. This is not simple at all because there are many different lights for which different vessels are required, like the way we need different containers for water, flour, and grain. There is a vessel suitable for each filling, and we are not able to create it ourselves; only the Creator can do it. But He will do it to the extent that we can annul ourselves.

If We Want To Feel The Creator

239In the treasury of the Creator there is everything except fear of the Creator, which we must create in ourselves. We need to turn our egoistic desire into fear from the understanding that if the Creator does not build us a Kli, then we will never come to bestowal.

Fears are different. One is afraid of the bank because of large debts, the other is a hooligan and is afraid of the police. And we are all afraid of the opinions of others, what people will say about us. We are squeezed into a rigid framework that dictates the conditions of our life to us and we exist in them.

But it is precisely this pressure from the still, vegetative, and animate nature, and people that allows me to feel alive. If I didn’t feel their reactions, I wouldn’t feel this world. On one hand, I am burdened by the pressure of others and the environment, and on the other hand, this pressure determines the place of my existence; otherwise I would not feel it.

Therefore, if we want to feel the Creator, we need to feel how He puts pressure on us and how much we can put pressure on Him in response, that is, to enter into a mutual relationship.

We are afraid of everything: trouble at school where the child is studying, the police, doctors, bosses at work, coronavirus, and thousands of other troubles that can fall on us. But we ourselves do not realize how much this fear animates us.

After all, in essence, we are driven by one primitive desire to enjoy and only want to have fun. And if we feel like the environment is constantly pressing on us and shaping us, then we feel like we are living in this world.

But if we want to be in another world, a higher one, we must try to develop Kelim for its perception. In our world, we are afraid of inanimate nature (the climate, hurricanes, etc.), vegetative nature (everything related to crops and food), animals, and people. In the end, we feel like we are living in fear from the pressure felt around us, and we don’t even realize it.

This fear determines for us the whole picture of life, the form of the world, existence. If the pressure of the environment disappears and I do not feel that I need others, want them, or fear them, then I will cease to feel reality. And that’s how we don’t feel the Creator. Therefore, we need to develop fear or sensitivity to the Creator.

If I want to feel another reality, which is called the upper world, other worlds: Assiya, Yetzira, Beria, Atzilut, Adam Kadmon, the world of infinity, then every time I have to change myself, ask what desires, what fears and determinations I should have regarding the external environment.

Kabbalists say that we have nothing to worry about because the Creator is good and does good. Therefore, we have nothing to fear. There is only one problem: If we want to feel His goodness, we must build an appropriate Kli in order to wish to do good to Him. And then, according to the equivalence of our qualities, we will feel the Creator and see that there is no state better than this. It will bring us confidence, pleasure, and fulfillment; we just need to treat the Creator kindly.

A vessel for feeling the upper world, the Creator, is fear of the Creator. But I have nothing to fear from the Creator because He will not do anything bad to me. It’s only me who harms myself with my egoism. Depending on whether I choose an evil inclination or a good inclination, the light coming from the Creator will seem to me like light or darkness. It all depends on me.

If I enter the royal treasury with a suitable vessel, I can receive part of the light into it and each time more and more. And the Creator wants us to transfer all His treasury, all the infinite light inside us, that is, to climb the stairs to the world of infinity.
