Questions about Spiritual Work—116

13.03Question: Who teaches us to work not for the sake of reception? Is this a quality of the Creator? Or is it a quality of the group or teacher?

Answer: The soul. It is said, “Man’s soul will teach him.” By going through all the states, a person gradually learns how he should relate and to what.

Question: To manifest goodness, a person needs to spend a lot of energy. Where can I get this energy to correct the evil inclination?

Answer: Also in the goodness. There is no other source of energy except the Creator.

Question: How do we get to a state that we cannot accept, in which we cannot stay, and from which we can already rise?

Answer: These are three different states. If you have the strength, if you have reached this point and can scrutinize it, figure it out and succeed.

Question: How does a Kabbalist relate to the pleasures of the material world?

Answer: He does not feel like he is making them. Therefore when he receives them, he has no real fulfillment. He is above that.

Give Strength to Friends

530Question: Should there be an atmosphere in the group where people feel they are not working for a reward, meaning they are not rewarded for their work?

Answer: Not quite. We need to understand and encourage each other as much as possible. This is how we will advance.

Question: If I feel unable to do something for the group and ask them to give me importance and strength, how should they react?

Answer: The group should react normally. After all, not just you, but all the friends ask the Creator to receive various anti-egoistic forces and want to correct themselves. So all is good.

Question: Sometimes a group refuses to give strength to a friend and argues that he wants to fill his egoism. That is, he wants to do something for the group while also receiving some kind of reward.

Answer: For now, this is our state. We are not out of egoism yet. Therefore, when I ask for strength, I want to do something that, among other things, will lift me up as well. That is, the group should still give strength to the friends, not sparing anyone, and help everyone.

Prayer of the Naive

936Question: What is a naive prayer?

Answer: A naive prayer is an unfinished, vague desire. It differs from the prayer of the poor in that the poor have a very clearly expressed desire. The property of the highest Malchut is called “poor and needy” because it is empty and cannot fill itself or take a single step forward. It is Malchut’s nature.

It wants to correct its Kli and fill it. The naive still need to understand how to act.

Question: How can we all reach the state of the poor together so that our prayer is heard?

Answer: In general, it is not complicated. At least it is not difficult to understand what it is. We have no understanding and feeling of what a person or indeed all of humanity should achieve.

Therefore we must imagine ourselves as one person with one heart and desire—imagine ourselves and all the world’s people living together and feeling common desires that we all direct to the Creator. It is called “being in one heart.”

Ascend to the Level of Love

600.02Question: What are the initial steps to liberate faith from reason and raise it to the level of love?

Answer: Perform actions that do not gratify egoism; train yourself to do everything not in egoism, but in faith above reason. And then everything will start to work out for you. If you keep checking yourself like this, we can gradually emerge from egoism.

Question: Is hatred of unification the sensation of one’s evil nature?

Answer: Yes and no. If a person simply hates connection, then it is his nature. He loves only himself. But if he strives for connection against his nature, then this is already spiritual work.

The Need for the Support of the Creator

289Question: It is written that you can come to the Creator only by hating your body, but the body is a spiritual shell. What does the body have to do with it?

Answer: By “body” in Kabbalah, we mean egoism, not our flesh.

Question: How can the Creator hate what He created?

Answer: He hates egoism and wants us to get rid of it.

Comment: But we have no choice. In any case, He will lead us to the goal of creation, either by an accelerated path (Achishena) or the path of suffering (Beito). It turns out that He does not give us a choice.

My Response: No. He gives us a little blow, and if we rush toward the goal of not getting rid of the blows, but rising above egoism and becoming like the Creator, He helps us.

So we pray that He will change, lift, push, and support us.

The Power of Female Desires

626Question: We must come to merging with the Creator through merging with the ten. And if the ten is female, but it has some masculine qualities—striving, achieving, or even jealousy—is everything correct here?

Answer: What difference does it make if you are a woman or a man? The main thing is that you want to be in connection, to reveal the Creator, to bestow to Him, and to feel yourself in this state because it will be similar to the Creator in you.

When I look at you all, I see more women here than men, and I hear their questions about how to move forward. And suddenly you tell me that these are not at all female desires. But they are indeed female.

It is said that thanks to righteous women the sons of Israel came out of Egypt. How can this be? But that is exactly what is said. So let us take this more seriously.

If you believe that women do not need these qualities, then you are cutting yourself off from revealing the upper world. You have received such a gift from the Creator; not to use it is a crime.

In a Host of Desires

962.3The story of Moses and Pharaoh is about the people who accompany them. In inner work, they symbolize different desires, forces, and aspirations that help us advance to even greater bestowal.

We must gather all these desires and intentions and increase them as if extending them to the Creator. Gradually we will become convinced of how much the Creator helps us develop them.

Question: How can we be worthy of the properties of Moses, and what depends on us here?

Answer: It is up to us to keep the direction of bestowal at every moment.

We can achieve the quality of Moses if we understand that our mutual bestowal and mutual assistance should lead us to bestowal upon the Creator.

Questions about Spiritual Work—115

231.02Question: It is said that the order of exile and liberation must be maintained. What does it mean?

Answer: Gradually by alternating one action after another, we raise our egoism, scrutinize, check, and correct it. That is our job.

Question: Without the restriction of the body, it is impossible to leave Egypt. Are these restrictions lifted when clarity comes?

Answer: All restrictions go away when the Creator shines His light on us.

Question: In Rabash’s article “Concerning the Exodus from Egypt,” it is written, “I awaken the dawn, and the dawn does not awaken me.” How do we understand that the Creator guides us, and when do we awaken the dawn?

Answer: The problem is if you do not feel it. So you have to put more effort into feeling the Creator.

Question: If we do not come to the morning lesson, does that mean we do not awaken the dawn and influence what is happening in the world now?

Answer: Of course it does. Every person influences, and even more so, the group that does not come to the lesson and does not use the opportunity to unite and influence the Creator.
