Enter Still Waters

938.04Question: Metaphorically, the ark is the desire for bestowal where we invest our efforts to unite. What are we taking there? How do we shape it in the right way?

Answer: We bring only our good connections and our correct attitude to what we have to reveal.

Question: Is the state in the ark during the flood temporary or should we get used to the idea that this will be our permanent state?

Answer: No, it is a brief state. We have to pass through it to enter the still waters.

Question: How do you pass through the highest waves in the ten to reach the goal?

Answer: The higher the waves, the more we are afraid of them; therefore we must be closer to each other and hold on to each other, then we do not have to fear any trials at sea.

Within the Framework of Spiritual Efforts

276.02Question: Both the light of Hochma and the light of Hassadim are present in the Ark.

Where do they come from?

Answer: Only from our efforts, which consist of the fact that, as we work on the desire to receive, we want to bring it to a state where we can receive the light of Hochma clothed in the light of Hasadim.

Question: Is the Ark some experimental ship where all this has already been realized, and can we learn it now?

Answer: Of course, we do not do all this in matter, only in our spiritual efforts.

Bring the Positive

528.01Question: Is the recognition of evil the removal of the “white gloves”? Can we bring this into the group?

Answer: No, by no means. No one should know about this. Kabbalah is called a secret science because no one knows what is going on inside you.

Sometimes you can discuss this with your friends, but only in the third person, abstractly, as if it is not happening to you.

Question: That is, I can feel complete negativity and am aware of it. Is this “taking off the gloves”?

Answer: If you allow yourself to feel complete negativity, you have ensured that you can work with it correctly and control it. But in the group, in the ten, you can only bring the positive, regardless of what is inside you.

Strengthen Faith

942This is the meaning of “Cover with pitch inside and out,” since there must be the light of faith there. (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 343, “Gopher Wood“)

Question: How can we strengthen our ten so that the light of faith resides there?

Answer: We achieve this through various actions aimed at unity.

Question: If we start having questions like “Who?” and “What?”, does it mean we need to strengthen our faith?

Answer: Certainly. In the ten, we strengthen it through faith above reason.

Responsibility for Your Soul

281.01Question: Besides my ten, whom should I consider close in order to love as myself? It is very difficult to understand how to relate to the people closest to us in the physical world, the members of our family.

Answer: We must perceive all our relatives and in general all the people we sense in the world as parts of our desire, and respond correctly by accepting them as part of ourselves.

The world is my reflection. If I see something flawed in it, it only indicates that I am not corrected. If I were corrected, I would see the world as absolutely kind and good, in complete bestowal and love. And if I see it otherwise, it is because everyone who judges does so from his own uncorrected state, from his egoism. This is the first.

Second. I must treat my relatives as one should treat family in this world: husband, wife, children, parents, and so on. That which I am obliged to do for them in this world, I have to do.

This is very difficult, especially when they start demanding precisely because I am studying Kabbalah. Then I limit them, saying, “This is what I can do, but no more.” After all, the soul—our eternal component—is something I cannot compromise, even though my parents, who have done everything for me, are very dear to me.

But if I do what is necessary for my soul, I will be doing the very best for them. The very best! If they knew how great the work I do for my soul is, they would definitely support me.

But since they do not know, do not see, and do not understand, they do not support me. So what can I do? The Creator created everything in such a way that I still have to give them what I can on the corporeal level, but I alone am responsible for my soul.

The Ark—A Spiritual Creation

934Question: What does it mean that through connection, the ten realizes the true property of Bina?

Answer: We can define Bina as egoistic qualities that we unite to achieve one, single correct action—to be above egoism. This is how the ten builds their ark.

The Ark is a spiritual creation—ten men build such states among themselves that help them pass any sea. They do not drown, but rather swim across it calmly.

Look Where the Force Is Hiding

947Question: You said we should try to build everything around one center, and for the Creator to rise higher and higher from it. How do we do it correctly?

Answer: Our job is to constantly strive to feel the Creator at the center of the whole Universe and thus try to find Him there.

Basically, what are we looking for? We seek someone loving, caring, thinking, and realizing everything that happens to us. This is the Creator. We are looking for where this force is hiding. And if we start looking for it in ourselves and between us, we will quickly find it.

Question: In our world, we are under the influence of all kinds of forces. How can we find a connection with this particular force that is behind other forces and influences every time and not waiver to the left or the right?

Answer: To do so, we need to aim toward the center of our organization, and then we will find the Creator in it. And the center of our community, as Baal HaSulam, Rabash, and other Kabbalists write, is our common heart.

234Question: What is Noah’s merit before all of humanity?

Answer: His merit is that relative to his generation and his actions, he was righteous.

Question: What is the spiritual movement of the ten?

Answer: The spiritual movement of the ten is a state in which all friends connect to express a collective attitude toward the quality of bestowal.

Answer: To become righteous means to ask the Creator to reveal this quality to you.

Question: If I recognize all my desires, both righteous and wicked, and relate them to the Creator, is this the quality of a righteous?

Answer: Not yet, but it is already on the path to the quality of “righteous.”
