Merit the Quality of Righteous

632.3When he becomes righteous in terms of the practice, he is rewarded and becomes whole in his heart, as Even Ezra said (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 342, “Noah Was a Righteous Man“).

An absolute sinner who has merited to become pure is a person who has found flaws in all his actions and corrected them.

One can leave the degree of sinner and become righteous only through connection with the Creator.

Question: What good deeds can you do in the ten to become righteous?

Answer: Help everyone in the ten unite and rise to the level of bestowal.

Find Your Own “Self” within You

88Question: In the ten, we work with desires that can be corrected. At the same time, should each friend focus on their own pure desire and ask from it for the connection of the ten?

Answer: Yes, but they should also feel what others are asking for, so as not to stray too far from them.

Question: What does it mean to work with these desires and become included in them? Every day, we meet in workshops and read sources. Should I find my friend’s highest desire and connect to it?

Answer: No, you should simply find your own “self” within you—your own desires, connect with them to the Creator, and in this way draw closer to Him. Then everything will work out for you.

Question: If strong corporeal desires for my own sake arise within me through my prayer, that does not mean they will be fulfilled, right? In other words, the Creator will do what He needs to.

Answer: No, the Creator will only do what He needs to as a last resort. He wants you to recognize for yourself which of your desires are good and kind and which are foolish and harmful.

How Do You Measure a Commandment?

249.03Question: What is an easy commandment, and what is a strict commandment?

Answer: A commandment is not measured its weight or by how much precious metal or something else it contains.

A commandment is measured by how much it enables a person to reach the Creator, to take another step toward Him, then another, and so on. That is how we measure the size of a commandment.

Question: What is easier for a person as a commandment: to stop receiving or to attain faith above reason and bestowal?

Answer: The hardest thing is faith above reason.

Ark of the Ten

935Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood, and cover with pitch inside and out (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 343, “Gopher Wood”).

The Ark of the ten is built from our desires to overcome all distances between us and the Creator and to arrive in a good state to the connection with Him.

The correct work of the ten involves overcoming the waves that try to break our ark. We work against them to hold onto each other and steer the ark forward.

A ten that can withstand the flood consists of ten friends who understand that they can reach the purpose of creation only if they help each other.

In this way, by holding onto each other, they direct their ship toward the highest waves, and the main thing is to reach the correct destination.

The Ten Becomes Your Soul

938.04Question: You said that many of your students are already beginning to feel or are nearing the feeling of the first degrees. Is there a certain potential that can be unlocked and reached at each of our lessons and meetings? Or is everything generally open and dependent on one’s preparation?

Answer: Everything is open, and everything depends on a person’s preparation and inclusion in his ten.

Even if the ten is small and weak, but he is included in it, like Rabbi Yossi Ben Kisma in his disciples, then for him, this ten becomes his soul in which he reveals the Creator.

Laitman_115.04Question: Why do the closest people in the physical world like husband, wife, children, or parents not want to hear anything about Kabbalah or understand that need of a loved one for spiritual development? How can we explain this phenomenon from the point of view of spiritual roots?

Answer: The explanation is very simple; it is because they are the people closest to you, meaning this is your personal egoism, and it only seemingly exists in them but not in you. Thus, its action on you is even greater.

Therefore, one has to understand that all of them—a spouse, children, relatives, even coworkers, and the world in general, all of them, are you, all of those are yours: your soul, you Kli. The only thing is that for now you do not feel this Kli as yours. However, later you will feel that all of them are you, and there is no one else besides you.

If a Person Is Unworthy…

562.02Question: It is written that if a person is unworthy, he is thrown down from above. What does it mean and how can one overcome this state?

Answer: Unworthy means that with the inclinations that a person has, he cannot rise from his egoism to the property of bestowal and love.

Question: Is there any prevention so this does not happen?

Answer: Prevention is very simple; we need to value our states and not neglect them.

In any state, even if you fall, you must look for a way to rise. Here, a request to the Creator, a prayer is necessary.

Questions about Spiritual Work—194

231.03Question: Why does a person feel a connection with the Creator only in difficult states, in depression?

Answer: Because in good states, they do not feel it. They are too preoccupied.

Question: How do we erase sins? Through what actions?

Answer: We erase sins solely through our repentance.

Question: What is the main motive of the Creator regarding a person when He deprives them of strength for spirituality?

Answer: There is no such motive. The Creator may temporarily deprive a person of strength to shake them up, prompting them to reflect on why they lack a connection with the Creator. Without this connection, they will never be corrected.

Question: When we speak of the anger of the Creator, we are talking about the disparity between our qualities and the qualities of the Creator. That is, this is a manifestation of our ego. Why do we constantly anthropomorphize the Creator, saying He is angry, He hates, and so on?

Answer: To make our disparity with the qualities of the Creator and His state—toward which we must cleave—more understandable to us.

Question: Why does the Creator take away all accumulated memory of Him?

Answer: So that you begin work on a new level.
