Students Are My Fortune

165If a person is not seriously engaged in a group and does not experience common conditions with it, he does not advance.

Question: Suppose a person has the opportunity to attend lessons, but he does not, then he is no longer on the path, but he is still somewhat engaged in it. How should we treat him?

Answer: What can you do with him? You cannot throw him off the roster! He still exists, and in the next incarnation he will again come to Kabbalah and again will have to continue his correction.

So how can you not accept him or refuse him?! You tolerate him only if it does not interfere and does not harm! If he causes harm, that is another matter. But in other cases, you have no right to throw him away.

Do you think my teacher did not have to tolerate me? Did I do everything perfectly? I remember all my faults today. But there is nothing one can do.

Question: Are you so patient with your students because you yourself went through this at the time?

Answer: Maybe this is why. In addition, I am still advancing, and therefore I feel that there is no other way. They are my children. I feel a sense of necessity; I have to, and so on.

But in everything else I am impatient. I have wild nerves and impatience for everything except for a person who tries, but does not succeed.

In other words, in everyday affairs I am impatient, problematic, and intolerable. But not in spirituality. I love my students very much; I value them very much; they are my fortune. All of them! I feel them in myself, probably like a woman feels a fetus inside herself.

Question: How can you distinguish being angry in the corporeal part from your being loving in the spiritual part?

Answer: It depends on the person. If he is developed spiritually, then he understands that now I love him or hate him corporeally, but spiritually I have only one patient attitude toward him, nothing else. I take upon myself all his spiritual problems, suffering, and everything that is in him, like a parent whose child is sick or something happens to him. They are just sick together with him.

A Book Is a Spiritual Matrix

514.02Question: Is the Kabbalistic text a spiritual matrix that penetrates through the mind into the subconscious?

Answer: No, it does not work automatically when you look at the letters like a donkey and suddenly something starts to appear in you just because you look at them.

It is necessary to have a great desire to recognize the upper world through these letters so that it arises in you, affects you, changes your nature, and you become better, kinder, closer to others, and connected with others. All this should be included together in your desire.

When you open a Kabbalistic book with such an intention, you are in contact with it  even though you absolutely do not understand what it says. But it tells exactly how to act together, connect in love, and  complement each other in one single desire for bestowal in which we are like the upper force of nature called the Creator.

If you organize your studies in this way, “you, the book, and a common desire with ones similar to you,” you thereby awaken the upper force that is written about in the book and it really becomes a matrix for you.

The text brings you this force because you read about it, not the book itself, not the pages themselves, but what you aim for through them. From there you receive the upper force that changes and improves you.

Feelings that Replace Language

961.2Question: Your teacher Rabash’s native language was Yiddish. How did it happen that you made contact with him without a common native language?

Answer: The teacher and I did not have a common native language, but we had a common mentality. He understood Poles and Russians perfectly because he grew up in Poland. In 1922 he arrived in Palestine during the time of the formation of the country, the nation, and he felt perfectly well what had happened here over the years.

But his Polish roots, especially the roots of Baal HaSulam, were felt very strongly. Therefore it was easy for me to be with him because I am from the same places that combine Russian, Belarusian, and Polish cultures, spirit, and even food.

Question: Although you shared a common mentality with Rabash, he still spoke to you in Yiddish. Did you have any problems with this?

Answer: No, I did not feel any special problems in understanding him as a person and being close to him. After all, we are practically from the same time, only slightly shifted. He was 45 years older. In fact, this is a small difference in feelings and in the approach to the world.

Of course, the fact that he was a Kabbalist and felt the world with its roots from above is another matter. But in general there were no problems.

Gematria Is a Measure of Similarity to The Creator

610.1Question: What is “gematria“?

Answer: Gematria is the numerical value of a spiritual state.

Suppose I am in a certain spiritual state since my desires have acquired a certain similarity to the Creator and are filled with His quality of bestowal. This happens according to the law of similarity of properties. Desire, having become similar to the Creator, is filled with the quality of bestowal and enjoys it. That is, I am similar to the Creator in this state.

My state can be measured according to my desire, how much it has changed in its strength and in its volume. When I weigh my desire, what is it in terms of volume, depth, thickness, how much it has changed and become similar to the Creator, i.e., I weigh the positive changes in it, the various qualities of bestowal and their aspects, then all this together is called gematria.

In other words, the gematria of some object, the soul, is called a power or degree, or a state of correction, similar to the Creator. Therefore, if a person is not similar to the Creator, then he has no name. As soon as he becomes at least a little similar to the Creator, he has gematria, his name.

In principle, all names are gematria because everything in the world is only one desire.

The Creator created only desire, and to the extent that it is similar to the Creator and acquires His qualities, it acquires volume and some form. This form has a name, a measure of similarity to the Creator.

How Is a Child’s Soul Formed?

253Question: How is the soul of a child formed?

Answer: Who can know that?!

Under the influence of the father, under the influence of the mother, and the environment, and all those generations that they have passed. It is all very difficult.

Everything is there inside the mother, formed and transmitted to the future person.

Question: Meaning, during these nine months of gestation, lives and states pass there?

Answer: Yes. And we feel it, in principle, on ourselves during our life—what is in us and how much is in us from our ancestors.

Harmony

232.08Question: What is harmony?

Answer: Harmony is an absolutely complete interaction between two opposite qualities when they complement each other. It is in this complementation upon their initial difference that unity, I would say, perfection, manifests itself.

But this perfection arises only from corrected mergers of opposite qualities. And then there is a great pleasure, as if hunger meets saturation.

New Life 242 – Happiness And Social Ties, Part 1
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

The law of Nature says that it is the connection between parts that creates and develops life. Happiness and healing can only be found in this single force of connection. In this power of connection, a bad feeling is divided and diminished, and a good feeling doubles, spreads, and intensifies, fulfilling everyone in the process. Whoever wants to change their intention and give to others will discover an endless pool of warmth, happiness, and the power of love.

“Where should I start learning Kabbalah?” (Quora)

Dr. Michael LaitmanMichael Laitman, On Quora: Where should I start learning Kabbalah?

Kabbalah is a wisdom that explains the one unique and unified force operating throughout nature.

Today, humanity is reaching the conclusion that it does not know anything about life’s purpose, and that it must know answers to essential questions about the meaning and purpose of our lives: “Who are we?” “What are we?” “Where do we come from?” and “Where are we headed?” We need to know how we should live, and how we can solve our problems and heal ourselves as we head into the future.

Kabbalah helps us reach such an understanding. It helps us feel nature and reality in its full depth and width. We then come to feel that we know the world that we exist in, and that the world cannot be hostile toward us.

Our education center—KabU—is very practical. It is open to everyone, and it can prepare and advance any person toward life’s meaning and purpose on a simple, straightforward and safe path.

I invite you, from the bottom of my heart, to come and study the wisdom of Kabbalah. This wisdom covers all of reality—the still, vegetative, animate and human levels. It covers the entire universe, from its very beginning until its eternal end: what there was, what there is, and what will be.

The wisdom of Kabbalah explains what happens to us before we are born, and what happens during our lives, and after we leave this world. You will learn all of that here, and we are waiting to welcome you. Come and feel it for yourself.
