“And You Shall Not Desire Your Neighbor’s House…”

laitman_938_02Torah, “Deuteronomy,” 5:18: And you shall not … desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his manservant, his maidservant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

A person should be connected to others so much that he would attract not only people themselves but also their ideology and would merge with their perception of the world. At the same time, he works to bestow with their desires and qualities as if they are his own.

By dressing into the friends, who allegedly exist outside of himself, he must work instead of them toward the correct perception of the world through each of them. After all, we are cogwheels in a giant system.

Therefore a person must understand how he twists some small cogwheel far away from him and how by dressing into it he causes it to work properly. And he needs to do so with each small part of the overall enormous organism by working through everyone for bestowal and love. And this means “you shall not … desire your neighbor’s house, his field, his manservant, his maidservant….”

“You Shall Not Steal”

laitman_546_01Torah, “Deuteronomy,” 05:17: And you shall not steal…

Be vigilant not to wish to receive for yourself those fulfillments and pleasures that are revealed in the quality of bestowal. This is called stealing.

It is forbidden to transfer anything from the “household” of the Creator to our egoistic desires.

It doesn’t matter that all the pleasure immediately evaporates. Nonetheless it is stealing.

On the other hand, if the Torah says that this is forbidden, it means that this is impossible and you won’t be able to use anything for your own sake, e.g., to steal or to commit adultery. In the spiritual world you won’t be permitted to do so, because the law is above you there.

Therefore, the Torah gives us instructions how to accurately adjust ourselves to fulfill spiritual laws.

“False Witness”

laitman_532Torah, “Deuteronomy,” 05:17: And you shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

A person should constantly work on himself by checking if his thoughts, desires, and intentions are directed toward bestowal and if he doesn’t deceive himself.

This is a very complex work that repeats each time at a higher and deeper methodical level of recognition. And every time you go to the next level, everything you did in the past, even with the very best intentions, seems egoistic to you. What was plus on the lower degree becomes minus on the next one. And this is how you rise.

Therefore, until the end of correction you will be accompanied by constant doubts. And every time you will be convinced that they were correct. It turns out you really were stealing, but didn’t feel it in you.

You cried and suffered, it seemed to you that you wholeheartedly wish well to everyone. There are many people in the world that beat their chests claiming this. And when they come to us, just after a few lessons they feel how it all was emptiness, lies, and deception, and they begin to move forward in the true dimensions.

Question: Who is “my neighbor”?

Answer: It is all me, my internal states.

And the “false witness” is the same. I witness myself, about myself, and about the Creator. Because the Creator is also what I feel and build within myself.

To See A Single Force Of Nature

Laitman_712_03Torah, “Deuteronomy,” 5:08: You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness which is in the heavens above, which is on the earth below, or which is in the water beneath the earth.

Everything we can imagine is a quality of nature that comes from the Creator and manifests itself with respect to us in the still, vegetative, animate, or human form. In nature there is nothing that in itself has a value, force, will, and origin. Everything is controlled by the single force called the Creator.

The material reality manifests itself in relation to each of us purely subjectively and it is changing to the extent that we change our nature from egoistic to altruistic.

While correcting ourselves, we will be looking through our world and seeing quite the opposite of what the ordinary people see, i.e. the forces that control the objects surrounding us.

Through them we will recognize one single force, one single will, to which we must connect. Our entire life on Earth is required only in order to unite through it with this single upper force.

Covenant With Every Generation

laitman_740_03Torah, “Deuteronomy,” 5:01- 5:03: And Moses called all Israel and said to them, “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and ordinances which I speak in your ears this day, and learn them, and observe [them] to do them. The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. Not with our forefathers did the Lord make this covenant, but with us, we, all of whom are here alive today.

The covenant is made with every generation. This is the program of creation that permeates all generations and which we must fulfill until the end of our life on Earth.

We must bring our world, balance, knowledge of the Creator, and raise humanity to the next degree, where they will fully reveal the upper force and begin to exist in two worlds simultaneously: in our world and in the upper world.

Torah, “Deuteronomy,” 05:04 – 05:07: Face to face, the Lord spoke with you at the mountain out of the midst of the fire: (and I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to tell you the word of the Lord, for you were afraid of the fire, and you did not go up on the mountain) saying, “I am the Lord your God, Who took you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall not have the gods of others in My presence.”

There is only one upper force that controls everything with absolute good.

To the extent that a person is equivalent to it, he feels this good and exists in it. And to the extent that he is opposite to the upper force, he feels lack of good, a so-called “eclipse” of benevolence relative to himself, and he must understand that he obscures himself from the Creator.

Therefore, we need to neutralize the darkness through our internal correction and change our egoistic perception of reality to an altruistic one.

It is written, “You shall not have the gods of others in My presence”; that is, above all value the quality of bestowal and love.

Question: It is said here that Moses stood between the Lord and the people. What do I, as a person, place between the Creator and myself?

Answer: The quality called Moses is a quality of absolute bestowal and love through which, like through a collecting lens, the governance of the Creator passes to us.

Moses is an example for everybody. Therefore he gives instructions to the children of Israel for every action. And those who fulfill these instructions are in complete agreement with the Creator.

Comment: The Torah specifies the reason why people should look at everything through the quality of Moses: “For you were afraid of the fire, and you did not go up on the mountain.”

Answer: The children of Israel didn’t want to go up on the mountain. They had neither the right nor the ability to do so because they were afraid that they wouldn’t be able to withstand the conditions they were given.

And only the nation’s quality called Moses, like pure Bina, is able to climb the mountain, be in the covenant, in the agreement, and in connection with the Creator. Therefore, the entire Light and the entire Torah come through the spiritual quality called Moses.

Year 6000 Is The End Of History

laitman_214When we study Kabbalah we begin to understand that there is no time in the spiritual world. But there is a state called “6000 degrees” that we must go through and join 6,000 souls into one soul.

All this exists in the world of Atzilut inside Partzuf Zeir Anpin (the Creator). Therefore, when it comes to the spiritual states, they are unchanged.

If we say “6,000 years” it means 6,000 degrees; if we say “600,000 souls,” it means 600,000 so-called Reshimot (information records) that we need to realize between ourselves. In the spiritual world, everything is very clearly distributed and defined by formulas and graphs.

And all that concerns physical years and the reflection of the spiritual states on our life happens somewhat differently. After all, on the material level we can reduce years, and if, lets’ say, in the current year 5777 we make a complete correction, then our current year will be called 6,000 years. We will make a jump in time, i.e., will bring the Light of correction so much closer to us that we will jump through years with its speed.

It is quite difficult to explain exactly the match between the spiritual structures and physical, geographical, historical, and other ones because these temporal and spatial axes don’t fit in an ordinary person.

This is the problem that even Einstein, Hugh Everett, and other well-known scientists have found difficult to explain. Therefore, nobody in the world understands it, but they just agree, because in our usual animate (material) state we have no ability to perceive and feel the acceleration of time.

I hope we will live to see the time when we will participate together in the final correction and be honored to attend the “banquet” in honor of the end of correction to which the Creator, as the groom, will invite the whole creation, as a bride.

The bride needs to correct herself, to dress in the white robes, and to be beautiful to match the groom. Beautiful means the quality of bestowal.

This is a very serious event that will be felt as something really great: year 6000 is the end of history.

The End Of Days Correction

Laitman_109Torah, “Deuteronomy,” 4:29 – 4:30: And from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him, if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. When you are distressed, and all these things happen upon you in the end of days, then you will return to the Lord your God and obey Him.

Today we  are just beginning the path to the Creator. Ahead of us are many corrections.

Question: What does it mean “with all your heart and with all your soul”?

Answer: “With all your heart” means with all your uncorrected desires. Once you correct them along with the thoughts and intentions, they will be called “all your soul.” The soul is the completely corrected desire of a person where he reveals the perception of the Creator.

At the end of days means at the end of the existence of egoism, when you fully rise to the top of the spiritual ladder through all 125 degrees, correcting the egoism and managing it correctly. Thus you merge with the Creator, attain all the worlds simultaneously, and begin to exist in perfection and eternity.

Today we are in the state that is called “at the end of days,” but it can last many more years. It is year 5777 now according to the Jewish calendar; 223 years remain until the end of 6,000 years.

However, we can accelerate our spiritual development if we actively attract the additional Upper Light. Starting from our generation onward it is possible and preferable for us and in the eyes of the Creator.

The upper system, called the Creator, is designed so that we can influence it and accelerate our development and correction. This is what Kabbalah was given to us for.

Everything the Kabbalists did throughout the history of humanity was only necessary to bring us to the realization of the spiritual method and to shorten the time of the spiritual development.

Therefore it is said, “Who is called Israel? Anyone who shortens the time of his spiritual development.”

Question: Is it possible to pass 223 years in one year?

Answer: And even in less time. It is written in The Book of Zohar and in other Kabbalistic sources that there are no restrictions on this. We can do it very rapidly. We were given everything: Kabbalah, the spiritual method, the system, and the instruction for its implementation. The rest is totally up to us.

The Torah Was Not Given To Angels

laitman_545Question: What is the difference between the attitude of the Kabbalists toward the Torah and the attitude of the masses toward the Torah?

Answer: The masses believe that a holy person or an angel is engaged with the Torah, and that if a person actively performs Mitzvot (Commandments), he fulfills the Torah. The sages of Kabbalah believe that the Torah was not given to angels, but to humans. Therefore it is written, “I have created the evil inclination, I have created for it the Torah as a spice, for the light in it reforms it” (Babylonian Talmud, Kiddushin 30b).

Only someone who has an evil inclination, egoism, needs the Torah. This is what Rabash wrote in the article, “The Claim of the Angels” (Articles, Volume 3). In other words, the difference is in the relationship of a person to the Torah: either it was given for performing mechanical actions or for the internal correction of the person’s essence, egoism, and from it, the creation of the soul.

“And The Lord Will Scatter You Among The People”

laitman_750_01Torah, “Deuteronomy,” 4:27 – 4:28: And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will remain few in number among the nations to where the Lord will lead you. And there you will worship gods, man’s handiwork, wood and stone, which neither see, hear, eat, nor smell.

This is the current state of the people of Israel. The Babylonian exile, which lasted 70 years, followed the destruction of the First Temple. Four hundred years later the Second Temple was destroyed,  and the Roman exile of the people of Israel came next, which made them scatter among the nations of the world.

Geographically and historically, the last exile ended, but spiritually still continues. Although we are physically in the land of Israel, we don’t exist in it in our desires directed to the Creator. Our desires remain directed to the same egoistic goals that exist in all nations of the world. We didn’t rise to the level of spiritual aspiration, and therefore still didn’t come out of exile.

It is said, “And there you will worship gods, man’s handiwork, wood and stone, which neither see, hear, eat, nor smell.” These “gods” are culture, science, education, and training: everything that we adopted from other nations, and that to this day is our goal and is appreciated in our eyes.

Question: So, we are still scattered, despite the fact that we are assembled in one place?

Answer: We are assembled physically and scattered spiritually. Geography doesn’t mean anything. A person who lives abroad can be in a much more advanced spiritual state than the one who lives in Israel.

The Sorrow Of The Kabbalist

laitman_293Question: A Kabbalist who understands that everything comes from the Creator relates all of life’s problems and troubles to Him. But does he feel fear or sorrow at the same time?

Answer: A billion times more than an average person. But he knows where it comes from and for what. It is exactly in order to treat it properly.

I see a picture of my teacher Rabash‘s wife’s death in front of my eyes. They lived together for 65 years and they loved each other very much, even in old age.

I remember when their grandson called me and said that his grandmother passed away and asked me to stay with his grandfather. I came immediately. Rabash was lying on his bed, curled into a ball, facing the wall, and not responding to anyone.

Although he knew in advance about the outcome, as his wife was paralyzed for the last few years, but I felt that he was going through a very strong shock, a blow that he must take upon himself. Not on the human level, but with completely different ideas and goals. I could feel his tension, calculations for further correction, and the fate.

Question: So the blows still exist?

Answer: I described the external picture. And what is inside this picture… God forbid that we will ever realize what such a person goes through in such a state.
