The Torah, “Exodus” 39:33: Now they brought the Mishkan to Moses, the tent and all its furnishings, its clasps, its planks, its bars, its pillars and its sockets.

Moses is the point in the heart, which manages the construction of the Tabernacle (correction of the desires). Everything was created around this point in the heart and was brought allegorically with the words: “And they brought the tabernacle unto Moses.”

The “point in the heart” that is implanted in us has its root in the Creator. Thanks to that, we begin to adapt all of our egoistic characteristics to it, which are called “gold,” “silver,” “jewelry,” and so forth, to create the vessel of bestowal around it.

The establishment of the Tabernacle (Mishkan) for the Creator was more precious than the creation of the universe. The universe was created simply by a word from the mouth of the Creator, whereas the Tabernacle was created as a result of the effort of the great Tzadikkim (righteous), Moses, Bezalel…and all of the children of Israel. And why is the Tabernacle comparable to heaven and earth?

But what is heaven and earth witnesses on Israel, as it is written: “I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day….” (Deuteronomy 30:19), whereas the Tabernacle testifies about Israel, as it is said: “These are the accounts of the tabernacle, even the tabernacle of the testimony….” (Exodus 38:21). So it is said: “Lord, I love the habitation of Thy house, and the place where Thy glory dwelleth” (Psalms 26:8), and so forth. (Midrash Rabbah, “Exodus,” “Pekudei”).

The Tabernacle was the creation of the man in a person, so his creation is more precious to the Creator than the entire universe.

The Torah, “Leviticus,” 26:36: And those of you who survive I will bring fear in their hearts in the lands of their enemies, and the sound of a rustling leaf will pursue them; they will flee as one flees the sword, and they will fall, but there will be no pursuer.

This is about a state of absolute lack of confidence. No one in the world feels fear, uncertainty, and worry like the Jews. We have very special feelings of inferiority, fear, humiliation, dependency, and I would even say, guilt. These attributes are revealed in us in a very distinct manner because our mission and goal is to make the nations of the world feel that they are connected to one another so that the Creator can be revealed among them. Imagine how a person feels who constantly causes others harm by his inaction!

This is how everyone feels! A few years ago, my grandfather’s brother, who emigrated from Russia before the revolution, came to visit me with his family. He and his descendents have been living in England for almost 100 years. They are very well off, but there is something that they feel the same. If we dig a bit more deeply, we will discover that they all share the same feeling of guilt. It does not depend on our circumstances.

In an interview with Larry King, a famous American television journalist, I was asked why anti- Semitism is again rising in the world. This was the issue he found most painful. He is in his 80s, has Russian roots, and although he has been living in America his whole life, he feels that he came from Russia. It seems that it has been so long, all long forgotten, but he instantly understood me. The recognition of our responsibility for the world doesn’t disappear and the Creator will not let us escape it. We have to fulfill our mission, our goal.

Prophecy is a level of spiritual attainment. The prophets appeared after the Temple was built when the nation of Israel began the descent from the level they were on. The prophets come after the Torah. After the time of the Torah comes the time of the Prophets, and then there is the time of the Writings.

The state of Prophets was revealed after the nation entered the land of Israel. A prophet is a certain level of connection with the Creator. Basically, every Kabbalist is on that level, but a prophet is a person who reveals the Creator either on the level of Bina or the level of Hochma, according to his internal attainment.

On the level of Bina he says: “I heard,” because Bina symbolizes the spiritual hearing and on the level of the Light of Hochma he says: “I saw,” because Hochma symbolizes spiritual sight.

The weekly section of the Torah, “BeHukotai,” is very relevant to our times. It says that, if we follow the Creator’s laws, we will be happy, and, if we don’t, we will be punished. But these words refer to a nation or person who is on a certain level of development and from whom something already can be demanded.

Therefore, the Torah says that it is only from a certain point in a person’s development that a bilateral relationship with the Creator begins. It is as if the Creator turns to him and says, “You are already big enough to hear Me. Until now, I always cared for you, showed you, told you, and took upon Myself everything that you did wrong, corrected things a little, and led you to positive outcomes. But now we gradually must become partners. Therefore, you must keep My laws, and accordingly, I will make room for you in the leadership system.”

Question: You keep calling the nation of Israel to wake up now, but they are still babies. So, why do you turn to them?

Answer: The point is that they must wake up since they contain Reshimot (reminiscences) that must bring them to the recognition and realization that they have a special place in the world. They, at least, must hear this!

All the other nations are on the level of babies and don’t owe anyone anything. They will go wherever they are led. They want everything to be good. If we lead them to goodness, they feel that internally and follow us. If not, they cry and blame us for all their troubles, and it is indeed so.

But we must understand that, at the moment, we are opposite and in contrast to the upper law of love, that we prefer to draw away from it and evade our participation in the process that will bring all the nations of the world to the best possible state.

Imagine how it looks from the side? Complete disrespect of the Creator and of all of humanity! We only respect ourselves. I feel good at the moment, so I can sit and do nothing.

Baal HaSulam says in the “Introduction to The Book of Zohar” that all the negativity comes to the world only for the sake of the Jews and because of the Jews. And we do not know that at the moment the nations of the world suffer and so does the Creator, metaphorically. This great Kabbalist speaks about that like the biggest anti-Semite because we are not fulfilling our role and don’t ascend to a level called the nation of Israel. This is the meaning of all the laws in the Torah.

The Torah, “Leviticus” 26:34: Then, the land will be appeased regarding its sabbaticals. During all the days that it remains desolate while you are in the land of your enemies, the Land will rest and thus appease its sabbaticals.

Eretz (land) is Ratzon (desire). If we are not engaged with the correction of our desires, certainly there must be some kind of punishment for the opportunities and the conditions that we missed, which are those needed for making a connection between us, for love, to gather together and to make it possible for the Creator to be revealed between us.

According to our unity and the pressure we create, He can be revealed between us with greater energy and in an abundance of revelation. If we don’t do this, then all kinds of negative situations that were used incorrectly accumulate, and then we pay our debt for this.

It is written, “Then, the land will be appeased regarding its sabbaticals. During all the days that it remains desolate…” This means that we didn’t work with our desires and now it is necessary to balance everything all at once and with one blow. This is received in the form of suffering.

Question: What is “the land will be appeased regarding its sabbaticals?”

Answer: The Sabbath is a seven day preparation for connection on a particular level. But if we neglect this, then as much as we didn’t carry out the connections, they remain negative and uncorrected (this could be the seventh year, the year of the Jubilee, and so forth), and become a very great debt.

The Torah, “Leviticus” 26:32 – 26:33: I will make the Land desolate, so that it will become desolate [also] of your enemies who live in it. And I will scatter you among the nations, and I will unsheathe the sword after you. Your land will be desolate, and your cities will be laid waste.

There is a simple law regarding the operation of the surveillance system: If you invoke negative phenomena in the general mass by your actions, you must receive negative feedback from the connection system in order to correct yourself and your actions properly so that you can get back on the right track. Then, the feedback operates on you and guides you in the right direction.

This is exactly what we receive from the nations of the world. Unfortunately, we now see again to what extent this connection is getting increasingly more intense, and it begins to pressure us.

No one can escape it and hide from it since it is in nature, in the forces that govern us. It says that the Creator will find you at the ends of the earth and bring you back to the land of Israel. In any case, you will find yourself here and fulfill your role! This is what the Torah says.

The Torah, “Leviticus” 26:23 – 26:24, 26:26: And if, through these, you will still not be chastised [to return] to Me, and if you [continue to] treat Me happenstance, then I too, will treat you as happenstance. I will again add seven punishments for your sins… When I break for you the staff of bread, and ten women will bake your bread in one oven, and they will bring back your bread by weight, and you will eat, yet not be satisfied.

The phrase, “and you will eat, yet not be satisfied,” means that no filling will satisfy us. The Light of Hassadim that must correct us and raise us to the spiritual level will be revealed in the most sophisticated and difficult forms since we are not prepared for it.

We see firsthand that these problems have been implemented for many years in our world down to the last holocaust. All this is written in a very clear and detailed manner in the system, but we are not compatible with the level we should be on, and so the system introduces corrections that are revealed in such a negative and unpleasant way.

You will eat the flesh of your sons, and the flesh of your daughters you will eat. I will demolish your edifices and cut down your sun idols; I will make your corpses [fall] upon the corpses of your idols, and My Spirit will reject you” (Leviticus 26:29 – 26:30).

We have come across such cases in the corporeal world, too, when in days of terrible famine, parents ate their children.

According to the prophets, there will come a time when merciful mothers will cook and eat their children. This doesn’t mean that people will go mad and start killing babies without understanding what they do. It is about a state that is forced on them by their uncorrected attributes and they will obey blindly.

This is the lowest state on the internal level that refers to the total disagreement with the Creator’s plans. This definitely can be revealed if we continue to disrespect and despise the laws of the upper nature. The Creator simply will bring us to that state.

In Charlie Chaplin’s movie, The Gold Rush, there is a scene in which, being hungry, he hallucinates that his fat friend is a big chicken and begins to chase him with a fork and knife; that is, everything happens inside a person. The Torah tells us about such states on the spiritual level, but we may certainly reach that on the corporeal level.

If you love your children and want them to have a bright future, pay attention to what the Torah says. Let’s learn to love one another.

The Torah, “Leviticus” 25:29: And when a man sells a residential house in a walled city, its redemption may take place until the completion of the year of its sale. Its [period of] redemption shall be a full year.

If I sell my house, I have the right to buy it back during the first year that follows. A year represents an unbroken sequence of my desires and attributes with which I begin the cycle of my correction and with which I end it.

Every settlement is considered a city if it is surrounded by a wall. Otherwise, it is not a city. We cannot, for example, call Moscow a city, while the Kremlin that is in Moscow and surrounded by a wall is considered a city.

There are six such cities in Israel like Jerusalem, Tiberias, Akko, and Jaffa. From a spiritual perspective, the world of Atzilut is called a city and a wall, its Parsa that surrounds it and guards it from enemies.

This means that a person takes all the corrected attributes that are in him and connects them so they can work inside him like a system, and so he builds the protection around it. The right system already resembles the Creator to some extent. The Upper Light illuminates inside it, and it has the Creator’s attribute, the attribute of mutual love and bestowal.

I protect it by a wall, and everything that is outside that wall are my desires which are uncorrected yet—nomads and robbers, wild animals, and so on. Moreover, this territory doesn’t begin right from the wall. At a distance of 70 steps (cubits) from the wall there is still a safety belt that belongs to the city. Then, there are another 2,000 steps (cubits) of fields and gardens that also belong to the city.

After that, there is the territory of my impure desires, and it is undesirable to go out there. Therefore, the law of buying and selling is meant to keep the impure desires from penetrating the city. I don’t only guard the city that is inside me, but also arrange it. I constantly think about how to fortify it.

The Torah, “Leviticus” 26:21 – 26:22: And if you treat Me as happenstance, and you do not wish to listen to Me, I will add seven punishments corresponding to your sins: I will incite the wild beasts of the field against you, and they will bereave you, utterly destroy your livestock and diminish you, and your roads will become desolate.

The phrase,” I will incite the wild beasts of the field against you,” means that a person’s active correction begins with the help of the negative forces and attributes to which he has given birth. It is very hard to explain this allegory since everything takes place inside a person, in his feelings.

Imagine living with your family in the jungle when suddenly the jungle is invaded by wild animals. They come running out of nowhere and surround you. Imagine the fear that you feel facing this long and exhausting threat on your life!

We would give up our life under such circumstances, but the upper force arranges things so that we begin to protect ourselves and begin to cherish our life, without knowing where to run or what to do! We reach a state in which we are ready to betray our friends and family as long as we can escape this threat. This is how you are shown who you actually are. A person discovers his true nature. This is a positive recognition, the right one!

Question: Not too long ago, there was an avalanche in Nepal where nearly 40 people were killed. I heard a terrible story on the radio: A young man said that he had escaped, leaving his friend behind, but, when he realized at a certain point that he had left him to die, he went back, but it was already too late. Now, the thought doesn’t leave him, and he must live with that his entire life.

Answer: That’s true, and everything is done so on purpose so that a person would understand his nature.

The Torah, “Leviticus” 26:18 – 26:20: And if, during these, you will not listen to Me, I will add another seven punishments for your sins: I will break the pride of your strength and make your skies like iron and your land like copper. Your strength will be expended in vain; your land will not yield its produce, neither will the tree of the earth give forth its fruit.

“I will add another seven punishments for your sins,” means that  instead of the right state of ZON, the six Sefirot of Zeir Anpin and one Sefira of Malchut, I get only the darkest Malchut.

Many years ago when I felt this state for the first time, I nervously asked my teacher, Rabash, “What is this?” He entered into my state a bit, felt it and said, “This is the illumination of Malchut.” This felt like darkness, like an abyss under foot, much like a terror that binds a person in darkness and he can’t do anything about it. Everything simply freezes in its place.

This state continued for a few moments, maybe only a thousandth of a second, but the impression that remained was imprinted within me. In spirituality, nothing ever disappears! However, this feeling can be pulled from the memory and partially experienced.

Thus, if Zeir Anpin doesn’t illuminate Malchut, the punishment is 70 times greater. Or, it could be vice-versa: Zeir Anpin shines, but Malchut feels the Light as darkness, an abyss, and as a black body that swallows everything. This happens when the Light enters a Kli that is absolutely not ready to receive it.
