The Rod or the Snake

115You find that for Him, faith is not regarded as being of inferior importance. On the contrary, specifically, this path has many merits, but it appears lowly in the eyes of the creatures.

If the rod is thrown to the ground and one wants to work with a higher discernment, meaning within reason, degrading the above reason, and this work seems low, one’s Torah and work immediately become a serpent (Baal HaSulam, Article 59 “Concerning the Rod and the Serpent”).

The serpent is all our vile reasoning. This snake hides inside us, but at the right moment, it shows itself and humiliates a person, inciting pride in him and providing justification for his egoistic actions.

Therefore, one must be careful not to fall into this serpentine state. The environment should create such an illumination around a person that will protect him from this fall into primordial egoism.

One must hold faith above reason as the highest value to prevent the rod from becoming a snake. That is what proper work in the ten should be like.

Questions about Spiritual Work—117

258Question: What is the purpose of working on the intention during the lesson?

Answer: You want to reveal the Creator, cling to Him through your ten, and ask Him, along with the ten, to help you rise above your egoism, above your Egypt. This is your current job.

Question: How do the questions and answers of the world Kli help us in spiritual advancement?

Answer: They connect you more with each other and with the Creator.

Question: When you feel that you are completely in the pit of your ego and cannot pray for your friends, then should you ask the Creator to give you such an opportunity?

Answer: Yes, at least you have the opportunity to annul yourself in front of the ten and cling to it. And then you will sail with them wherever they go.

Question: How can we help lead our friends to prayer and request, especially those who cannot do it?

Answer: Try your best to involve them in your common intention so all of you will connect.

Sprout in a New World

936This is like the source of the wheat: Although it changes a great deal by the three latter factors, it still retains the preliminary shape of wheat and will never take on the form of another species. (Baal Sulam, “The Freedom”).

Question: What lesson should we learn from the example of decomposing wheat in the work of the ten?

Answer: This example suggests that everything in a person changes except for one unchangeable parameter, which is his center, his basis. Therefore, we can change anything in ourselves, from very bad to very good, from death to a wonderful life.

All changes in these parameters depend on us, and what remains unchangeable in us is our primordial Reshimot (spiritual genes).

Question: Do we also need to change our form, decompose, and rot leaving only the original Reshimo in us?

Answer: Of course, this is what we do in connection with ourselves and with all of humanity.

Question: What should happen to each ten and to the world group? What does it mean that we will be reborn, rotted like wheat in order to sprout?

Answer: When you want to kill egoism in yourself, which practically exists under your pressure, or rather under your request to the Creator, then it will rot, and only its embryo will remain. And everything else will be replaced by the property of bestowal, love, and mutual connection. And then you will become a different person as if you are sprouting into a new world.

Question: Are the events that are happening now pushing us toward this rotting?

Answer: Of course, they push us to the point that we are convinced that we cannot live only with an egoistic quality and we need other forces—the forces of development.

The Power of Female Desires

626Question: We must come to merging with the Creator through merging with the ten. And if the ten is female, but it has some masculine qualities—striving, achieving, or even jealousy—is everything correct here?

Answer: What difference does it make if you are a woman or a man? The main thing is that you want to be in connection, to reveal the Creator, to bestow to Him, and to feel yourself in this state because it will be similar to the Creator in you.

When I look at you all, I see more women here than men, and I hear their questions about how to move forward. And suddenly you tell me that these are not at all female desires. But they are indeed female.

It is said that thanks to righteous women the sons of Israel came out of Egypt. How can this be? But that is exactly what is said. So let us take this more seriously.

If you believe that women do not need these qualities, then you are cutting yourself off from revealing the upper world. You have received such a gift from the Creator; not to use it is a crime.

Get Out of the Quagmire of Egoism

938.05Question: We have a strong desire in the ten to get out of Egypt, and prayer flows all day; we have the intention to give, the desire to unite, and the desire to merge all together. What else is needed to get out?

Answer: There is not enough connection between you. It is like you are standing in a square with thousands of people shouting, shouting to the Creator.

If you had joined forces at the same time, He would have immediately heard you and answered. You are still not connected. Therefore, alone, He cannot hear everyone.

Question: To unite, do we need to get out of egoism first?

Answer: Sure, one who is still in egoism cannot connect with anyone. And to get out of the quagmire of egoism, you need to lean on each other and grab hold of the Creator together.

Strive for contact with the Creator by addressing Him from the depths of your heart.

If there Is No Patience in the Ten

528.03Question: If there is no patience in the ten, does it mean that the Hisaron (deficiency) will be born precisely here?

Answer: Yes, you must have such a great desire that you are not willing to wait, you need to reveal the Creator, the spiritual world, and yourself in it right now. Only then can you find peace.

There is no need to fear that the cup of patience may overflow. We should value those states when a great desire arises within us, remember them, and try to evoke them.

The Main Focus of Efforts

625.07Question: How can you change an egoistic prayer into a correct one so the Creator begins to act?

Answer: The desires we feel in our impulses are neither egoistic nor altruistic. It is just a feeling of being created as I am, and this is my desire.

Afterward, through our development, we give the desire a vector when we direct it at the ten, the whole of humanity, and the Creator.

That is how we want to see the whole system: man, the ten, humanity, that is, the entire world Kli, and the Creator together. That is the main focus and goal of our efforts.

Therefore, we must imagine the picture we want to achieve during prayer.

Amicable Exit from Egypt

749.02Question: How can we imagine that our ten left Egypt? What is this state? Are there any external signs?

Answer: There cannot be any external signs. It is inner work.

Leaving Egypt means uniting with each other, and with the entire world group and a huge number of people as much as possible. We cannot even imagine how many of us there are: hundreds of thousands.

We must consider how to support all our friends so they do not fall and become disappointed with their chosen path. It is essential now, because the closer we are to the goal, the more difficult it is for us to take every step.

Question: Do individual people come out of Egypt first, and then the whole ten, or the whole ten at once?

Answer: The whole ten. Not just the whole ten, but the entire world, Kli, everyone who belongs and connects to our path.

Question: Some of our ten attend the lessons daily and some do not. Will we be able to leave Egypt only when everyone understands the added importance of lessons and our purpose?

Answer: Yes, it will be so. The importance of the goal, the realization, the sensation, and the desire for greater connection with each other will constantly grow until practically the whole world joins us.

Open Your Eyes

945Question: How do you prepare the hearts in the ten to feel the need for the Creator’s help if you feel that hearts are closed, that they are asleep?

It seems like you need help, but you cannot even ask.

Answer: Pray that all of you unite and ask.

Comment: I am praying, but it feels like it is getting worse.

Answer: No, it is not getting worse. It is just that you actually begin to see that the Creator is hidden from you.
