Become Human

942We have gathered here to establish a society for all who wish to follow the path and method of Baal HaSulam, the way by which to climb the degrees of man and not remain as a beast (Rabash “Purpose of Society – 1”).

The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches a person to rise from our world to the spiritual world. That is a very high, unusual goal. Few people know about it, and even fewer people practice Kabbalah.

But we are studying and trying to implement this method to reach the goal that Kabbalah sets for a person: to rise from the feeling of our world to the that of the spiritual world and do it now, in this life, in this world, in our state.

Currently, we are in the state of a beast because we are guided only by our instincts, the desires of our body, which, in general, is also complicated, although not spiritual.

According to Kabbalah, to be a human means to be similar to the Creator.

Comment: But everyone imagines the Creator in their own way because He is concealed.

My Response: It is in order to understand what the Creator is and how to become similar to Him that the wisdom of Kabbalah is intended.

Movement toward Discovering the Meaning of Life

229Question: What should be the conditions for people to be ready to solve the task of their development? There must be some conditions under which this will happen.

Answer: Since the goal of our development is concealed from us, because no matter how philosophers struggle with it, we cannot clearly define this goal, and everything that we define collides with our internal disagreement with it, it is too early for us to pose such questions. Humanity still needs to develop perhaps for many centuries.

But as we develop naturally, we will gradually come to the point that we will be able to solve global issues more and more. But, again, at what threshold we will begin to master solutions to questions about the meaning of life is not yet even approximately visible. We do not know what the meaning of human existence is.

Question: Does the fact that humanity, as we see it, is moving toward, God forbid, its destruction, delay its movement toward revelation or not?

Answer: No, I believe all this is interconnected: it is impossible to move forward without falling, without looking back, without disappointments. All this is one path. But we are still in the early stages of development.

The Essence of the Human Level

276.02Question: Our sages write that the essence of the human level is fear of the Creator, and the entire world was created for this. What does it mean?

Answer: In order to reach the level of the Creator, we need to change our nature, rise above ourselves, and acquire the qualities of the Creator. This is not at all easy, but Kabbalah teaches us and leads us to this.

First of all, a person studies what his qualities are that were created in our world at the animate level, and what the qualities of the Creator, who is in the upper world, are.

We are characterized by egoistic qualities; we want only to receive, as it seems to us, for our benefit. The Creator is the quality of bestowal; He connects everything. Therefore, we need to rise to His level in order to feel the Creator to the point of adhesion with Him.

Fear of the Creator is a desire of a person when he wants to be similar to the Creator so much that he is ready to bestow to others, meaning to change his nature and think not about himself, but about others.

Commandments Dictated By the Upper Force

549.01Question: The great Kabbalist of the 20th century, Baal HaSulam, writes that there is only one commandment: “Love thy neighbor.” On the other hand, in the article “The Peace” he says that there are two more commandments: reception and bestowal. Then he writes that there are 10 commandments in the Torah, seven commandments of Noah, 620 commandments that the sages talk about. So, how many of these commandments are there in total? How can one understand this gradation?

Answer: I would say that 620 commandments are indeed a lot. The main one among them is “Love thy neighbor as yourself.” As Rabbi Akiva said: “This is the whole Torah.”

And the rest of the commandments are just its explanation. Strangely enough, the commandment “Love thy neighbor as yourself” includes absolutely all the laws of the world, light, nature, and the Creator.

Question: Strange indeed. Let’s say, if we take the commandments of Kashrut, how are they related to love for one’s neighbor, or how can they help us attain this love?

Answer: There is nothing strange about it; it can be understood. Ultimately, we will come to a state where it becomes clear to us that all the commandments were as if dictated to a person by the upper force, and if he fulfills them, he will begin to approach the Creator.

If the Creator Does Not Respond to the Plea

565.01Question: It is said that if the Creator does not respond to your plea, it means that it has not been fully clarified.

What questions can we ask ourselves to get to the bottom of true prayer? How do you do it?

Answer: It is very simple. I live and that’s it. And I try to do in my life what is approved by the Creator.

Question: And how do we get to the bottom of this plea?

Answer: Don’t dig around; do what you need to do as a person who wants to be closer to the Creator.

Justify the Creator

281.01Question: What does it mean if the Creator puts a friend in a state of humiliation in the physical world for a long time? Do I need to change something within myself to change this picture?

Answer: What should I change in myself? First of all, it is to justify the Creator.

Everything that the Creator sends to a person is intended only for his spiritual growth. The combination of these two parameters: the first—everything that comes from the Creator, and the second—the desire of a person to rise, gives him the opportunity to find his point, his place correctly.

Interconnection against the Evil Inclination

627.2Question: Why is it that we easily hear the arguments of the evil inclination, and then the good inclination comes and we are no longer able to hear its arguments?

Answer: Because our nature is evil, when we hear the arguments of the evil inclination, we accept them as our own.

Question: How does my inner fight with the evil inclination affect the group if I don’t work with it myself, post it, and discuss it in the group?

Answer: No matter how it happens, you still get included in your friends, and they get included in you. You’re connected anyway.

In principle, all people are connected and influence each other, but there are connections that we choose and want to develop, and there are connections that we do not choose and are ready to leave them as they are.

The Main Purpose of Spiritual Work

275However, one should know that he was given this abundance only so as to gain new strength and be able to grow stronger in the work, that he will engage in the battle of the war of the inclination. Then, each time he is given a temporary rest, meaning upper abundance (Rabash, Letter 26).

Question: What should our main actions be during the rest so we can succeed at the following stage of the war against the evil inclination?

Answer: We need to know exactly what we are stopping for, what goal we choose, how to be connected, and how to move forward.

At the same time, we have the same goal at all stages—merging with the Creator through connecting with each other. But the fact is that we need constantly to check how we are advancing.

The main thing is to get as close to your friends as possible. And when you feel like one man with one heart, then you will be able to turn to the Creator and receive any help from Him.

When Personal Problems Arise

938.03Question: If I have some kind of problem that lasts a very long time, related, say, to my health, I concentrate on myself and break away from the ten.

What should I do in this case? Do I accept it as the best from the Creator and ask for the strength to cope with it? Or ask the Creator so that my friends will not have such situations?

Answer: No, get incorporated in your friends and arrange yourself among them so that you are not visible. Melt into them, and you will see how it will affect you, your problems, and everyone.

The Secret to Solving Problems

243.01Question: How can one maintain a state of prayer while working in a group and not be more in a state of mind?

Answer: I will say only one thing: try to solve all problems in connection with the friends. That is it.
A problem arises—deepen the connection with friends. Another problem arises—deepen the connection with them again.

And you will see that only in this way can you solve all your problems because through this you approach the connection with the Creator. It is very important.

That will be throughout the entire path until final correction.
