Buddhism And The Wisdom Of Kabbalah

laitman_281_02Question: You often have said that Eastern doctrines are based on the suppression of the ego. One of the basic principles of Zen Buddhism is that truth cannot be expressed in words and that the only criterion is personal experience.

The Zen Koan system (questions and answers) is based on the principle that it is impossible to answer the teacher’s question by using formal logic.

The method is meant to spur the student on, helping to transcend the limits of logical thinking to reach a level where he has no rational support.

It seems that you often use a similar method, whether consciously or unconsciously. Is that really so?

Answer: To some extent this is also one of the techniques used in studying the wisdom of Kabbalah, but it doesn’t mean that the methods are similar, not in development nor purpose.

How To Work With Egoism

laitman_608_01Question: In what sense and why do the articles of Rabash: “The Purpose of Society – 1,” “Love of Friends,” and “Concerning ‘Love Thy Friend as Thyself,’” speak about suppression of egoism? After all, we strive to transcend the ego.

Answer: This is not called annihilation of the ego but its suppression and its realization with the characteristic of bestowal and love.

Question: I cannot overcome egoism and I don’t have the ability to do anything, where is the Creator here? After all, I asked Him to help me and I tried to help Him, but nothing happened. I know that when I “nourish” my egoism, it is “satisfied,” but the “hunger” will come and overcome me again. Now it just scares me that it will appear again and dominate me.

Answer: The Creator is found in everything that a person feels. It is only up to you to try not to become distracted from this truth and to become integrated in a group because it is only in connection with the friends that you will be able to realize your characteristics correctly and transform them under the influence of Arvut (mutual guarantee) and Ohr Makif (the Light that is outside of us as long as we are not in the corrected state), to become similar to the Creator.

The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Does Not Prohibit Anything

Laitman_506_6Question: If it is necessary to dedicate all of one’s life to spiritual development and leave “other business” aside, when is there time left for living? Why has the Creator made everything so complicated?

Answer: And what is a person living for? When we begin to study the method of the wisdom of Kabbalah, we begin to live it, feel what forces it is speaking about, how it is possible to discover and feel them, and how the world system is managed.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is the foundation for all human culture, all religions, and all knowledge because it speaks about the higher system of management. Everything that exists in our world is a result of this system. Through studying the wisdom of Kabbalah, it is possible to get hold of it.

There is no prohibition on earthly pleasures in the wisdom of Kabbalah. It is possible to quietly go fishing, watch a soccer game, be involved with sports, and care for a family, and so on. There is no need to give up any worldly pursuits, except for the consumption of hard drugs because they detach a person from reality and from comprehending the higher management.

The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t prohibit anything. This is not a monastery, not suffering, or self-restriction. It only speaks about adding special higher pleasures to our lives.

Nonetheless, we know that for every pleasure, for every fulfillment, for all knowledge, we must pay with our effort and time. It is the same thing here.

Why Was The General Soul Shattered?

Unity, The Way To A Good FutureQuestion: You said in your post “There is No Life without Mutual Guarantee” that in the past we were one spiritual body and then this body was shattered. Is the spiritual body temporary like our physical? And do we have to connect in order to live or to be reborn into a new spiritual body?

Answer: The shattering of the body, which means of the desire and not the physical body, was necessary so that we can reconnect its parts, attain a desire to bestow in contrast to the desire to receive, and attain love in contrast to the desire to reject others. In this program acquire the perfect feeling of eternity and wholeness.

Does Fear Exist In Spirituality?

laitman_276_02Question: Is there a concept in the wisdom of Kabbalah like the fear of God? People are afraid of fire, floods, and other disasters. Should a person feel fear of the Creator?

If “There is none else besides Him” (Deuteronomy 4:35), is it possible to say that this is fear of God, or that this is a beastly instinct for self-preservation? Is there a similar fear in spirituality?

Answer: There is fear of falling into an egoistic desire, fear of losing paradise in our world. Spiritual fear is not about acquiring or losing the ability to bestow—in other words, becoming like the Creator—not due to fear about myself, but from awareness of the greatness of the Creator.

How Does One Break Away From Monetary Problems?

laitman_626Question: What should one do to make more money and not suffer?

Answer: The best situation is when a man has a steady job, gets a fixed salary, and in his spare time engages in things that aren’t related to profit or wasting money.

Then his mind breaks away from thinking about monetary problems. It suddenly becomes clear to him that he can get along well, because in principle, a person doesn’t need much to live: clothing, food, housing, and to pay taxes. And everything else should be in a completely different area: spiritual needs, perceptions, and so forth. A person should specifically direct himself this way because things won’t be any better later on. People in the world will never be able to make much of a profit. The worldwide “Golden Age” and its bourgeois habits are over.

We have the ability to provide everyone with an income necessary for existence: food, clothing, housing, education for children, and so forth, everything required for a person to function normally without luxuries. Modern technological development makes it possible for us to provide for all of these needs.

Question: Is it possible to awaken people who have left their heads in social networks?

Answer: Try to get them out through those social networks.

Question: Are there “heavy” souls who are different from “light” souls that cannot be corrected?

Answer: No, everyone has his destiny and someone who has a connection with the wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t have a heavy soul.

Question: Many questions for you, my teacher, arise in me, but while I am forming them, I find the answers. What should I do?

Answer: Very simple, continue!

Question: What can interfere with someone studying Kabbalah correctly?

Answer: Only one thing: the lack of the proper desire. We need to be concerned only about there being a desire! The desire will even bring a person to that place where they study and are involved with the wisdom of Kabbalah. This will help him enter into a serious and proper circle of communication.

How Can We Overcome Our Instincts?

laitman_549_01Question: How can we overcome our egoistic physical instincts?

Answer: There is no need to invent or to make any decisions by ourselves because we cannot correct anything inside us.

The only thing we can do is to draw the positive force that is external to us, which can correct us and thus fulfill to the exact degree and in the attributes that are necessary for the optimal correction of every step of our development.

So we need to draw the Light without any delay, and it will already sort out and divide all our attributes and operate in order to bring them closer to correction by affecting a certain attribute a bit more and another a bit less, etc. This is how we begin our correction as one whole.

When Will The End Of Correction Take Place?

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Is the end of correction (Gmar Tikkun) inevitable? If so, when is it supposed to take place?

Answer: When we all unite our individual egoistic desires into one desire, Adam.

Question: What is unity? How important and necessary is it to understand this term correctly?

Answer: It is the restoration of the broken connection between our separate individual desires. As a result, the only force of connection called the Creator is felt in the system of the one desire called Adam (Man) of the restored connection.
