Question: My question is about the letters of the Torah. If the Torah was written as one word starting from the letter “״ב (Bet) to the letter “ל” (Lamed), why is it possible to divide it into words?
Is it possible to read the Torah backward from”ל” to”״ב? Would it still be possible to divide it into words then? Will it still be Hebrew?
Answer: We can divide the Torah many times and in different manners. We cannot even imagine the infinite options there are to do so.
Because the Upper Light is infinite in all its forms and revelations, we cannot describe it with our tools. Only the direct feeling of the upper world enables a person to attain it internally.

Question: Why are there so many myths about the wisdom of Kabbalah?
Answer: The problem is that the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks in four languages. A normal person doesn’t understand the simplest language through which it presents everything.
But when we begin to train with the help of this special method, a person begins to descend into the depths of the concepts within the wisdom of Kabbalah, and then he begins to discover four special approaches in this language and he begins to hear and to see the inner meaning in it.
And someone who doesn’t study, but just reads what is written, he merely sees stories, tales, and legends.
The Torah (Bible) is written, in general, in a simple language, and everyone understands it as it is written. But, in fact, within it lie secret meanings known only to Kabbalists; moreover, it is impossible to reveal this to others; everyone must see and feel this for themselves.
So for thousands of years a multitude of myths have appeared around the wisdom of Kabbalah. And the Kabbalists wrote in a confusing way, not only because they wanted to conceal the wisdom of Kabbalah, but also because it was impossible to express what they felt and discovered in the upper world more clearly. So it follows that in principle the wisdom of Kabbalah is to blame for there being so many myths surrounding it.
Question: Did the Kabbalists intentionally confuse people?
Answer: No, not at all. But since they wrote about a world which we know nothing about, people began to imagine the upper world in physical giuses: as if people were people, animals were animals, and all kinds of objects and the whole situation, to an ordinary person it seems as if it is happening in this world.
But in reality, it is all a completely different system; one simply needs to study it. Kabbalists wrote for those people who want to study Kabbalah and ascend to the upper world. They had no other choice! That is how everything was designed.
When a person opens a Kabbalistic book, he or she can read all the words in it, but doesn’t understand anything. If I am not familiar with the upper world and read some description about it, I simply don’t know what it is saying. They use words of our world there, but what the author means, I don’t know.

Question: You say that Adam wrote the first Kabbalistic book. For whom did he write it? After all, he was alone, he was the first man.
Answer: Of course there were other people living in the time of Adam and before him. The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t deny Darwin’s theory of evolution. Adam was one of the people living in his time.
He was born 5,776 years ago and we celebrate his birthday as the Jewish New Year. Adam was the first to discover the whole system of creation, the system of the upper world, which we study today and want to discover by ourselves just as he did. We are his followers.
In those days he had students and we are also called his students. In Hebrew man is called “ben Adam” – the son of Adam. All of us are the sons of Adam. His book is meant for all the generations that follow him!
Question: Was the book written in Hebrew?
Answer: Yes. Adam developed this language according to the spiritual powers he had discovered. He had to develop and process a suitable language in order to describe the upper world in the language of our world. This is how the Hebrew alphabet appeared. He wrote the first book in Hebrew called HaMalach Raziel (Secret Angel).
Since then Kabbalists write in Hebrew because this is the only language by which you can convey the complete information from the top down, from the upper world to our world. Writing Hebrew letters and the order of the words carry a special spiritual meaning in addition to the ordinary meaning.
There is a special book called the Tikkun Soferim (Correction of the Readers), which is about how to write correctly. In Russian it was once called “calligraphy.” I remember in school we were taught how to write beautifully to display the letters. According to Tikkun Soferim, the size, the length and the width of every letter, the order of the letters in a word, and the laws of building words from letters is a very complex system, but what is most important is the actual language. Words are created by the combination and place of the letters, and the words build a sentence.

Question: If a Kabbalist today could go back to the past in a time machine and speak with Kabbalists who lived during the time of the Bible, would they be able to understand one another?
Answer: Of course, without a doubt! When I ascend the spiritual levels from the bottom up, I meet all the Kabbalists who have climbed these levels. I become part of these levels and attain what other Kabbalists attained in the past.
I go up the elevator to the first floor and see what happens on that floor. All of the Kabbalists also saw the same thing, starting from Adam HaRishon (First Man) all the way to me. Perhaps each described it according to his own style because he perceived a picture that is a bit different, according to the root of his soul, but everyone attained the same thing.
I rise to the second floor, and there I feel what they felt and so on. I must understand them according to the level of the floor I am on, and there is no problem on that level.
I may not understand everything they wrote because they are on a height that I have not yet attained, but when I rise to a certain floor, I attain all the Kabbalists who were on that floor and discover whatever they discovered.

What Does A Kabbalist See?
Question: Why can’t the Kabbalists describe the spiritual world in such a way that we can understand that it is worth aspiring to it?
Answer: The problem is that it is impossible to describe the spiritual world because none of its properties or sensations exist in our current desires. The laws of the spiritual world do not coincide with the laws of our world.
Therefore, Kabbalists describe the upper world using a special language, the language of branches, which is not intended to provide an explanation because we still cannot even imagine this world, or depict it in our egoistic properties.
For example, your computer has one program and suddenly you receive an email composed in a different program that you don’t have. Whatever you do, you won’t be able to receive this message.
Instead, it will open as confusing information in the form of various characters. You will not understand what was sent to you. You will not be able to absorb it or receive it in your computer.
The same is happening here. The Kabbalists tell us something about the upper world, but we look at them like an animal looks at the human. In order to understand them, one needs to obtain the property of the upper world, and then it becomes clear what they convey.

A Simpler Interpretation Of The Secret Of Life
Question: How is it possible to understand what the secrets are in the Torah?
Answer: If we want to understand what the Torah says, you need to start with studying the wisdom of Kabbalah. The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches the method for reading the sacred books. They are called “sacred” because they were written on the level of the upper spiritual world.
So to understand them, we must learn a special language and concepts to know what the words “Adam” (Man) and “soul” mean.
Every word and every sentence in the Torah then will look completely different. It is said that “The Torah speaks in the language of men” (Sifre Bamidbar 112), which means in the “language of the branches.” It uses the words of our world, but is directed toward the roots of everything that is happening, that is, forces that are active in the upper world.
The Torah is called sacred, but in our world there is nothing sacred. Sacred means separated from our world. So, during a wedding, the groom says to the bride, “Behold, you are sacred to me,” meaning distinguished from the entire world and relevant to me only. In that sense, the Torah is also called sacred because it is relevant only to the upper world.
This means that, first of all, we must learn the language in which the Torah is written. Then we will understand all of its stories and see that these are not legends or history. It is a special guidebook that directs us toward a correct perception of reality. The Torah is not talking about events from the distant past but about forces that act on us now.

The Correct Attitude Toward Sacred Books
Question: If there are no words in spirituality, how do Kabbalists convey their attainments to one another and write books?
Answer: Kabbalists use what we call the language of branches. The spiritual world is the root, and from it we perceive some corporeal imprint in our corporeal senses that is called a branch.
Therefore we can describe spiritual phenomena even in our language, using this world’s words, because there is an outcome, a branch in the corporeal world for everything that exists in the spiritual world.
Suppose we are two Kabbalists. How can I tell you about the spiritual world if the spiritual consciousness and attainment are personal? I feel a certain picture, a form, a great world, an infinite reality that is revealed to me in all my senses in every direction, in every axis, and you feel something, too. How can we communicate and share our impressions?
The solution is actually in being here in our world, in our corporeal bodies. This is the reason that we can use our bodies to communicate with one another to write texts and to convey information even by clues or by a glance. This is the reason that we use our corporeal language.
In the spiritual world, for example, there are forces called a chair, a table, a cup, air, a wall, a window, and so forth.
We use these names in our world, but by using them, we refer to the internal essence of the concept in the spiritual world. I say “a window,” but I refer to a window that exists in the spiritual world, while you understand which window I refer to. I say “the window is open,” and you understand what the meaning of an open window is in the spiritual world, although I convey the idea to you by using corporeal words.
This is how Kabbalists speak, and this is how they write their books. This is called the language of the branches that is accepted by all Kabbalists. This is the language in which the Torah is written, but ordinary people don’t know that because Kabbalists wrote it in order to speak to one another about the spiritual world, while people think that it is about our world. This is the secret of the Torah.
Question: It turns out that when your read Kabbalah books, the words don’t mean anything to you unless you understand their double meaning.
Answer: That’s right. I read only these words because I know the language, but I don’t understand more than someone who doesn’t know Hebrew. What is more, if a person doesn’t know Hebrew, it is even better since then he is not confused and does not imagine different things about our world.

Why Do We Need The Language Of Branches?
The Ari, “Shaar HaKavanot” (Gates of Intention): The first Katnut (smallness) of the Tachton (lower one), from NHY de Ima, the Tevuna phase, is called Elohim (א-ל-ה-י-ם), Din (judgment).
The second Katnut of the Elyon (upper one), from the HGT de Ima, in Bina, the Dinim are not revealed as they are in Tevuna, so this is called AHDTM (א-כ-ד-ט-ם), which is obtained by replacing the letters with the letters before it.
There is no letter before Aleph, and so it cannot be transformed. But Lamed is replaced by the Kaf before it. Hey is replaced with the Dalet before it. Yod is replaced with Tet before it. The final Mem – is replaced with the open Mem before it. And since it is impossible for it to remain open at the end of a word, it is written as a final Mem.
Imagine that we are in an inquiry and are beginning to differentiate between the forces, between the origins of the forces, the results of the forces that act on us, our participation in these forces reveals the higher system before us. The more we discover the system, the more we can understand how it works and functions. As a result of such an investigation, articles like these appear. Before us is a scientific article that explains the action of the higher system that manages us.
Question: What does the replacement of letters and their combination mean? What are “front” and “back”?
Answer: Front and back are Ohr Yashar (Direct Light) and Ohr Hozer (Reflected Light), a level and its interior. There are various combinations and replacements of letters. Originally, each letter has its character as a complex structure. A letter is a desire to receive that has a Tzimtzum (restriction), Masach (screen) on it and Aviut (thickness/will to receive). The letter is completely enveloped in Light and so it maintains its particular form that indicates its relationship in regard to the Light. So the letter is called a “box,” a letter.
For every letter, meaning for every particular state, there exists a state before it and the next state, the higher and the lower. There are states that happen simultaneously, from right and from left. There are states that are a reflection from the ten Sefirot of the Elyon on the ten Sefirot of the Tachton, so all of the Sefirot of Hochma are connected, all the Sefirot of Bina are connected, and so on.
Even though the Light gradually passes through other Sefirot, through all the letters, all the stations, it passes through a particular wave that is perceived only through the Sefirot of the same name; Ohr Bina is perceived only through the Sefirot of Bina and Ohr Hochma is perceived only through the Sefirot of Hochma.
The connection between a Sefira and all the rest of the Sefirot, and the connection between those types of Sefirot are completely different types of connection. It is just as the health department connects all the doctors in the country. Along with this, doctors have a multitude of other connections, with other departments, with the family, and so forth.
That is how the system is built. In order to express these connections we need symbols to describe them. The combinations of letters make it possible for us to do this. And yet, this is not a sufficient description. Only someone who feels and recognizes these states in himself, when looking at the letters, he can implement, examine, and then understand about what they are talking.
No language, not even all the languages together, can express the integral connection. With the help of a limited language and a “slice” it is impossible to express wholeness. So the Kabbalists don’t describe the entire spiritual system. They only indicate signposts on the way for those who follow them, and so that we will have Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light).

Question: Could you please tell us in one sentence what the great mystery of the letters is about?
Answer: There is no mystery in the letters whatsoever. They are mysterious only for those who know nothing about them. For a knowledgeable person, the letters are just the tools for their work.
By creating the properties of bestowal, one gradually becomes similar to the Creator, the universal, benevolent, and bestowing power of nature.
Understanding of the meaning of the letters opens incredible opportunities that can’t overestimated.
